Chapter 12: A New Threat

A few days had passed since Flare and Sundash visited Maki Oze. Ariel and Glace were disappointed that Maki hadn't went with them at the time. Flare had told the two that the reason for it was mainly due to having proper procedure to get some time off. After all Maki was an employee at Fire Force Company 8 and needed to properly be able to take time off. Once it was confirmed, Maki had texted her student that she had been given permission to leave for a week. Once Flare had gotten the message the Flareon girl had excused herself to meet Maki and Tamaki so she could safely show them to her home. Flare didn't want any harm to come to her sensei and human friend Tamaki. It was also the start of a Saturday morning the Flareon Girl met her teacher and friend right before the two could pass the secret border line between the two worlds. Teacher and student shared a brief hug which then turned into the trio shaking each other's hands. Once this was done Flare lead them straight to her home where she knocks on the door. Electra whom had been preparing breakfast was the first to answer "Whose there?"
"It's me auntie" Flare responded "Plus I bring guests!"
Electra unlocked the door then opened it to see her niece with two black haired regular human girls. Electra like most Pokehumans was quite wary of normal humans after all hearing dreadful stories of what some humans did to Pokegirls just because they weren't completely human was a choice for any Pokehuman to be cautious...Yet when she looked into Maki's and Tamaki's eyes she could tell that the two were humans with good hearts. The two wouldn't harm a Pokehuman unless for some reason that Pokegirl or Pokeboy attacked them first. Flare introduced Maki to her aunt "Aunt Electra this is Maki-Sensei, and the shorter girl is our friend Tamaki. Maki-Sensei and Tamaki, meet my Aunt, Electra the Jolteon Girl."
Electra smiled warmly as she finally met Maki in person. She shook Maki's hand "It's a pleasure to finally meet you Maki. I hope my niece isn't a problem for you. After all Fire types can be a handful."
"Oh honestly it's a pleasure to be the teacher of a beautiful Flareon girl and she's no trouble at all" Maki said accepting the Jolteon girl's handshake.
Flare blushes at the comment her teacher mentioned about her being beautiful. Electra now shakes Tamaki's hand "It's a pleasure to meet you too Tamaki."
"Thanks ma'am!" Tamaki said.
Flare kept her gaze around the area very carefully. Electra followed her niece's gaze after the near death she almost went through they couldn't afford to get caught off guard. Once the two Pokegirls were able to settle their nerves Electra stepped aside to let her guests in "Sorry Maki and Tamaki, after what happened to me two days ago, one can't be too certain about their surroundings...Please come inside breakfast is almost ready!"
The three girls take Electra's comment into consideration coming inside. Once inside Electra closes the door locking it even. It was at this time Candy was wide awake and playing a game of checkers with her older sister Sunlight although to everyone's eyes the game was very one sided as expected from an Espeon. Even Candy was realizing this "Ah, Sunlight...Why can't you let me win one game? It's like you know my every move before I make it!"
Sunlight gently teased her younger sister doing the typical sister stuff "You realize this is what you sort of get when you face a psychic type?"
"You aren't cheating by reading my mind are you?"
"Oh Candy, sis, what sort of thing would make you think I'd do that?" Sunlight asked truthfully the sign her jewel on her forehead wasn't glowing was an indication she wasn't mind reading her sister.
"Cause mommy always scolds you for mind reading!" was Candy's response "Except for two nights ago."
Flare put her hands on her youngest cousin's shoulders in an attempt to comfort her or as if to say you'll get her next time causing the Sylveon to turn towards her "Oh morning cousin Flare!"
She then noticed two human girls and leaps to her feet "AND YOU BROUGHT GUESTS!"
Sunlight winces "Candy...Sis...Not too loud...Or you'll wake Moonlight!"
"Too late!" came Moonlight's response as she had heard the shout and looked down venomously mostly at her youngest sister as she now knew that Sunlight wasn't to blame for this.
To everyone's surprise Electra looked up at Moonlight "Don't look at your sister that way young lady. Flare's brought her teacher and another friend from Fire Force Company 8! I'm sure there are news they can tell us that'll benefit everyone. You can get back to bed later on."
"Yes mom" the Umbreon replied with a heavy sigh walking down the stairs.
"What's up with your cousin Moonlight?" Tamaki asked Flare in a whisper.
Flare answered carefully "Moonlight is a Dark Type meaning everything we consider normal is the opposite for them. Moonlight considers her evening her mornings and her mornings are her nights so...She sleeps during the day and I'm sure you know where this is going."
"Candy woke her up from her slumber" Maki admitted "I'll be blunt if someone woke me like that while I'm sleeping I'd be pretty upset after working all night long if I were a Dark type considering my nights are when I'm active."
Glace had just woken up and was once more in Ariel's room shaking her in an attempt to wake her up. Apparently the Vaporeon had been skinny dipping at midnight again cause she was completely naked "Ariel, sis! Wake up!"
"Ah Glace" The completely naked Vaporeon Girl muttered in a sleepy state "It's a Saturday, there is no school! So give me a few more minutes."
Typically the Glaceon would've let Ariel sleep in but she wasn't about to miss out on what she had heard. Like Moonlight, Glace had heard Candy's shout meaning that Flare had indeed kept to her promise so the Glaceon moved to Ariel's feet then began tickling her sister's feet with her tail knowing her sister was ticklish there specifically the sole part of the feet and of course there were her toes. Turns out Glace knew her sister well enough as even though the Vaporeon girl tried to ignore this by trying to turn over in her sleep to keep her feet out of Glace's tail range, she wasn't able to and Glace growing a bit more impatient put her mouth on her sister's toes and began licking them carefully with saliva as cold as ice itself. This and combined with the tickling was too much for Ariel and the Vaporeon girl shot up in bed like an arrow unable to contain her laughter her toes completely frozen "OH HAHAHAHAHA! GLACE STOP THAT TICKLES! AND DID YOU HAVE TO FREEZE ALL MY TOES AGAIN?!"
Glace glared impatiently at her sister threatening to continue "I did freeze your toes again!...Now if I stop will you go back to sleep?"
"What will happen if I say yes?" the Vaporeon asked still a bit groggy.
"I'll freeze you completely and drag you out of bed in front of everyone!"
Ariel blushes red at the threat as she covers herself as best she could while sitting "You wouldn't dare! I'm completely naked!"
"Want to try me?" Glace threatened.
"No!" Ariel admitted rather quickly deciding to leap out of her bed "Man you are a bit grouchy towards me this morning! What did I ever do to you recently other than knocking you out that one time?"
The Vaporeon girl was racing about to get looking for something quick to wear as best she could with Glace giving her the answer "Nothing, but I'm surprised you didn't hear Candy's shout about two minutes ago! Flare's brought guests!"
Ariel now understood why her youngest sister was in a rush to wake her up on a Saturday "Guests? As in?"
"Now you are getting it! Big sis is keeping to her promise and I don't want to miss out on seeing Maki! This is our chance! Now finish getting dressed or I'll drag you out so our guests can see a Vaporeon girl in her birthday suit!"
Blushing red at the threat Ariel was indeed naked but ultimately decided to put on a blue swimsuit "Better sis?"
"Better than nothing! Now come on! Let's see this Maki Oze!"
"Right, Lead the way!"
The two were so much in a rush that once they run out the door they accidentally run into Flora whom was about to make her way down the stairs and all three of them go falling down the stairs. The continuous thumping sound continued till it stopped as all three now were at the bottom of the stairs with Glace amazingly okay standing on the backs of both a dazed Vaporeon Girl, and a dazed Leafeon Girl.
Hearing this Blaze rushed out of his room towards the top of the stairs where he saw Glace standing on top of her sisters at the bottom "Oh my gosh! Are you three okay?!"
Even Electra had rushed to the scene to make sure in all her years she never seen anything like that before.
Glace answered just as Flare rushed in also to make sure mainly checking in on her two younger sisters although the Flareon had to make sure not to giggle at Flora's dazed look with Glace's right foot on her back it was very tempting for her not to laugh at such a sight "I'm okay Aunt Electra, Uncle Blaze and Flare...I had a soft landing."
"Lucky you!" came the muffled reply from both Ariel and Flora although Flora was giving Flare an if you laugh I'll get you back for this look.
Ariel overcame her daze more than Flora whom must've hit more steps than she or Glace did "I'm fine too everyone!"
"Amazingly even though I hit the most steps on the way down… Nothing broken Aunt Electra, and Uncle Blaze" Flora admitted then she addressed Glace "Glace, take no offense to this, but you are kind of heavy standing on our backs!"
"I won't lie" Ariel admitted "You sort of are heavier than you look Glace. Even though it's just one foot on our backs."
Glace blushes red at both of her two older sisters' comment and stepped off them. Glace even helped Ariel up onto her two feet while Electra did the same to Flora. Electra checked all three of her nieces over expertly. Once the three showed no other signs other than the occasional bruising in some cases later on the week the three were as good as she said.
"They are okay honey" Electra called up to her husband "Now they will for sure have bruises in some areas later on this week, plus they will be sore too. Other than that, they are going to be okay! Nothing broken."
"That's a relief" Blaze said coming down the stairs.
"What exactly happened?" Flare asked her sisters.
Ariel answered "Glace and I were in a rush to see your guests sis! Sorry Flora for getting you mixed up."
"Forgiven Ariel, but lesson learned" Flora muttered then she spoke in a normal tone "Make sure I speak up before I begin my decent down the stairs...Wait you brought guests Flare? Since when do you bring guests home?"
"Ever since I made a promise to Ariel and Glace that I'd bring my teacher here for them to meet her" Flare answered.
Flare lead her sisters into the kitchen where they saw two girls. Both girls had black hair and were nearly similar to each other. There were two differences, one obviously was an older girl whom was more muscular than the smaller girl whom had pig tailed hair instead of her hair long in a ponytail like the bigger one. The two girls turned to see Flare's sisters. Immediately the two waved to them. Flare giggled a bit as both Ariel and Glace held onto her shoulders both of her younger sisters were a bit shy now. Flare rubbed each of their arms for comfort speaking in a caring but understanding tone "Easy girls. No need to be shy. Maki-Sensei is a gentle soul and wouldn't harm you unless you call her one word then well you are sort of asking for it."
The two younger sisters walk with their second oldest sister towards Maki. Flora watches them wondering if she should join but Electra spoke "You need to bond with your sisters Flora...Go in there and meet Flare's teacher."
"But" the Leafeon protested.
"No butts missy" Blaze told her as both he and his wife put their hands on her back then pushed her in.
Once in the kitchen Flora rubbed her swollen back where Glace had accidentally stood on it. Her Aunt was right, despite going to be bruised and sore, nothing was broken so better to go on with it. So she followed Flare. Flare stopped right next to Maki and Tamaki "Maki-Sensei, Tamaki"
The two turned with Maki asking "Yes, Flare?
Flare gently took a step back to introduce her two younger sisters first "I'd like you two to meet my two younger sisters, Ariel the Vaporeon Girl, and Glace the Glaceon Girl. They've been wanting to meet you Maki-Sensei."
"Forget about someone?" Flora grumbled.
Flare sweat dropped while pointing one finger towards Flora "Oh yeah, this grumpy Leafeon girl behind me is our oldest sister Flora. Pay her no heed to her rudeness."
"You'd be grumpy too if you fell down the stairs and had someone standing on your back first thing in the morning" The Leafeon girl muttered lowly.
Maki smiles warmly reaching out her hand towards Ariel and Glace "Nice to meet you two Ariel and Glace."
The two younger sisters shook her hands "Likewise Miss. Oze!"
"Oh so polite!" Maki giggled.
"Can anyone become strong like you and Flare?" Glace asked excitably.
"Sure!" Maki answered swiftly "As long as you train and focus your mind you can do so! However you are an Ice type as Flare told me and my training regiment can only benefit Fire types cause there isn't anyone where I come from that that can help with water or ice training like I teach your sister."
"So, you're the one that taught my sister how to ignore any negative effects caused by attacks?" Flora asked flabbergasted that there was a normal human that was able to teach a Pokegirl like her sister how to fight so successfully.
"Any negative effects caused by attacks known to her" Maki replied "Such as ignoring the recoil damage of Flare Blitz and turning that recoil damage into even more damage to the opponent. Or reversing the effects of Super Power. That was all my doing and-" she pauses looking at Electra "Your niece Flare is very hard working and eager to learn."
Electra smiled giggling glad to hear Flare was eager to learn and hard working to protect not only herself but her two younger sisters as well.
Candy, and her two older sisters walk in "Forget introducing us Flare?"
"Plus who is the other girl?" Moonlight asked trying to not be aggressive from being woken up.
"Oh sorry" Flare said bowing "I thought I introduced you all to her but my bad. Maki-Sensei, meet my three cousins, the older two are twins Moonlight the Umbreon girl and Sunlight the Espeon Girl. The youngest one is Candy the Sylveon Girl. As to whom the other girl is, this is Tamaki Kotatsu!"
"Pleasure to meet you all" Tamaki said bowing politely "We got a week's leave so I hope you all don't mind if we stay for that long."
Flora was about to object not wanting to deal with Flare's teacher and other human friend for the week but it wasn't her call. It was up to her aunt and uncle to decide that. Much to her disappointment the two made up their mind quickly agreeing with Electra speaking it "Any teacher and friend to my niece Flare is always welcome to visit."
"Yeah" Blaze said smiling "Think you can teach me a few tips while you are here Maki?"
Maki smiled back "Sure! If you can make the time for it...Besides, while Flare is exceptionally good, there is always room for improvement after all so after school I plan to give some lessons to her."
"I'd love to, is that okay Auntie Electra?"
"Of course it is" Electra said "Plus your Shock Wave technique needs work, perhaps Maki and I can team up a day to help with that."
"Oh this is gonna be the best week ever for me!" Flare said excitably almost unleashing her built up fire.
The moment she was going to lose it both Glace and Flora take a step back. Taking their lead Tamaki ducked underneath the table no way was she going to accidentally expose her body to this wonderful family at least not if she could help it. Ariel stayed close as her sister unleashed her built up fire. Due to being a water type Ariel actually enjoyed that "Haven't seen you that hyped sis in a while!"
"I hardly get to train with Maki-Sensei nowadays" Flare admitted.
Maki chuckled rubbing Flare's hair "You are always excited to spend time with me."
"Cause you're a good teacher" Flare admitted.
Maki giggled as Electra starts to set the table for breakfast.
"So" Electra began as the family with their guests began to eat "Maki...Tamaki, Flare's told me you have some info for us."
"We do" Tamaki admitted unsure if she should tell them.
Maki took over "We have a lot to give you all, but what we have to tell you is top secret. Typically Fire Force policy forbids us from detailing such secrets but since I have a relationship with Flare as her teacher, I've been given permission by the Lieutenant and our captain to tell you what we know."
Electra due to being a police officer knew about secrecy and immediately knew this was serious. The Jolteon looked at all her daughters and nieces except for Flare "You have my word Maki and Tamaki. Our lips are sealed."
She looked at Candy whom was eager "That means your lips have to be sealed on this matter too sweetie."
"Ah!" the Sylveon replied.
Blaze put a hand over his daughter's mouth to silence her as he spoke gently "Maki doesn't have to tell us anything Candy. She's allowed to do this because she's your cousin's teacher. We have to respect her wishes. Besides sweetie, there's always a reason why things are secretive like this."
Candy understood now "Okay mommy, and daddy. I'll keep them sealed."
Tamaki let Maki take over. First of all Maki had explained to them about whom she worked with and what they did as a profession. Ariel was immediately interested it was hard for anyone to imagine specially trained fire fighters attacking these Infernos to relieve the victim of being transformed into one. She was certain a water type would be effective too after all nothing indicated these fires weren't ones that water couldn't put out. Maki then revealed to the family of the same circumstances that her meeting with Flare earlier in the year indicated including showing the family a video of how these Infernos spread.
"That's disturbing" Candy muttered with everyone but Flare's eyes widened in both surprise and fear.
"You took the words out of my mouth sis" Moonlight admitted "And we've all seen many disturbing things...Who in their right minds would do that thing? A single bug is able to create someone into an unwilling Inferno."
Tamaki hung her head in shame "I knew someone close that did."
"Whom?" Electra asked.
"It was a different Lieutenant back when I was with Fire Force Company 1" Tamaki replied then she burst out crying "He used me to his schemes and I was unaware of what he was doing that it broke me once I realized it. As he was going to put all the blame on me...Luckily for me...Shinra came to my rescue."
"Wasn't he a part of the current Fire Force Company you work for?" Glace asked her.
"He was and is" Tamaki said "For you see it just so happens Fire Force Company 8 wanted to get down to knowing what was causing these Infernos...So they sent Shinra and Arthur as undercover operatives to investigate Fire Force Company 1 for any information that could be vulnerable to understanding this issue better."
Electra saw this Lieutenant's plan "Let me guess he'd use you to lure a group of vulnerable children then expose them to the bug in secret."
Tamaki's eyes widened with respect as she looked at Electra "How'd you figure that out without me explaining it in detail?!"
"Mom's a police officer here" Sunlight answered "A very good one."
"I'm always good at seeing sorrow in ones eyes" Electra said putting a hand on Tamaki "I can truly see you were completely unaware of that guy's plans. He planned to use you and frame you for it."
Tamaki frowned "When I caught on finally he just attacked me and I for some reason didn't fight him back...Again luckily Shinra came to my rescue and despite the odds was able to beat him."
"So whatever happened to him?" Flora asked weakly she couldn't imagine that betrayal after working alongside someone you knew and thought was a good person only to find out he was using you.
Tamaki bit her lip "He was frozen by another member of Fire Force Company 1 to be placed under arrest but then...Those white clothed showed up...Well we didn't know it was them at first but one had snipped that former Lieutenant killing him...Most likely not wanting him to give out intel to any Fire Force."
"White clothed?" Electra asked.
Maki showed them another picture of them "Yeah, recently they showed themselves in Tokyo and somehow has marked Fire Force as their enemy so in addition to Infernos we really have to watch our backs."
Electra studied the clothes "That's eerie similar to-"
Flare nodded "To the that black robed people that attacked us Auntie."
"Are they related?" Sunlight asked worried.
"That is something that we aren't completely sure about" Maki answered "However...the reason why I asked Flare to come two days ago was because...There was a black robed figure in one of our battles with an Inferno and the White cloth was around making at least me suspicious that he had to be from Flare's world."
"Which was confirmed later on" Flare added on "We set a trap and they fell for it...Thankfully Sundash was with me that time and we broke that scheme. However like Maki-Sensei I too am not quite sure if those two forces are related."
Electra shook her head a bit upset at the development things were just getting worse "What is going on exactly? Even if those two forces aren't related, at least a few of them were helping the enemies of Fire Force Company 8."
"Question is why?" Blaze asked.
Flare might've had an answer "It's possible that they did that to gain access to those bugs."
"No way" Ariel said at once as if she understood where her sister was getting at "Why would they want those bugs? One bite turns any human into an Inferno…"
Sunlight had a feeling too but Flare spoke "Because...In that trap we laid...Sundash and I had to fight a...Golurk,"
"And you have troubles with Ground types that have Earthquake!" Ariel and Glace called to her alarmed.
"Yes, but thankfully I had Sundash with me" Flare told her two sisters trying to calm them down "Yet though...That Golurk...He wasn't a part of any evil organization...These black robed Pokepeople...or maybe the White cloth...Oh I don't know which of them did it but…They turned him into an Inferno."
Sunlight snapped her fingers in frustration at the news "Great...So that's why you suspect that they are doing this."
"Exactly!" Flare told her cousin "Which if I'm correct and I hope I'm wrong...This means everyone here is in danger...It's only a matter of time before they attempt an attack here."
"We don't have a Fire Force to counter those!" Ariel said then she rubbed her hands "Luckily I'm a Water type and with you Flare we have a chance!"
Maki and Flare spoke in a warning tone to Ariel all at the same time "Just because you are a Water type won't save you from becoming an Inferno."
"Hugh?" Ariel asked "What are you talking about, Water types resist fire type things."
Electra understood "True, but water can also be evaporated too. Sure you may resist this bug's bite, but what happens if your water inside you dries up Ariel? Answer...You would become an Inferno."
"So only Flare is immune to that effect?"
"Yes" Maki answered "Due to her being a Fire type she'll be immune to that bug's bite...This also means your uncle Blaze as well as Sundash would be immune to it."
"Speaking of Sundash" Flora said turning to Flare "Shouldn't she be here at this meeting?"
"She knows what exactly we are telling you" Maki told Flora "I'm sure she's telling this to this Meadow the Milotic as we speak whom are then most likely informing this Lunakage of theirs about this matter and how to proceed in protecting this family."
"Mommy" Candy said turning to Electra "What can we do?"
"What we've been doing sweetie for the past week…" Electra answered "Watching our backs."
She eyes her daughters and nieces "We also have to listen to Flare, Maki, Sundash, and Tamaki. Those four know how dangerous these Infernos are."
"Do we really have to kill them?" Sunlight asked weakly.
"Sadly as of right now that's our only option" Maki replied to the Espeon "If there was a way to undo that without killing well we don't have the research or the knowledge it can be done. Besides...It may sound sad to say this but killing these Infernos will put the individuals soul at rest. I mean I wouldn't want to be suffering burning everyone and everything in my path if I became one so it's probably best to put us out of our misery."
"Killing won't be a problem for Flare" Glace admitted looking at Flare "She sometimes can go way overboard when she fights to protect me or Ariel."
"It's cause she doesn't want to see you two get eaten" Moonlight told the two.
"Took the words out of my mouth cousin" Flare admitted.
It was then the phone rang puzzling Electra "Whom can that be?"
The Jolteon girl picked up the phone answering it "Hello?"
There was a response from the other end and Electra now knew whom was calling "Snow? Is that you?!"
"Snow?" Tamaki whispered to Flare "Whose that?"
"Aunt Electra's best friend Snowflake the Alohan Ninetails Girl" Flare answered.
"She's a very beautiful model" Sunlight admitted.
"That she is" Flora said with ultimate respect.
Electra listened as she could tell by the sound of her friend's voice "Snow? What's going on? You sound scared!"
Electra waited for an answer but that is when the phone went dead. Blaze looked at his wife "Something wrong?"
"Not sure" Electra said "But that was Snow! She's always happy but she really sounded scared for once."
Maki began to suspect something "Electra, ma'am this maybe related to what we just discussed."
"If it is" Electra admitted "Then we gotta hurry and try to save her!"
"Where does she work at?" Tamaki asked understanding the urgency.
"She's in the city preparing for an upcoming fashion show tonight" Electra replied she looked at her husband, Maki, Tamaki, and Flare "Can I ask you four to get down there and see for your own eyes what's going on?"
"Certainly!" was the response.
"Take Sundash with you" Electra called out to them "That way if it's an Inferno you can attempt to stop it."
"Ah Auntie" Ariel begged "Can I go with them?"
"A Water type might actually be useful" Flare told her aunt with both Maki and Tamaki shaking their heads in agreement with what Flare just said.
"Will you look after her?" Electra asked Flare.
Flare nodded "You can always count on me to watch over Ariel auntie. I won't let anyone turn her into an Inferno. Not on my watch!"
"Good" Electra said with a smile looking at her niece then she addressed Ariel "You may go with them Ariel, but once again listen to your sister, Maki, Sundash, and Tamaki. Cause if it is an Inferno they know what they are dealing with."
"Yes, Aunt Electra" Ariel said getting up at once.
Blaze put a hand on his wife's shoulders to comfort her "Don't worry sweetie, we'll make sure Snow's fine."
"If anything happens to her" Electra muttered dryly "Then whoever got to her is going to pay."
Blaze soon left with his two nieces, Maki, and Tamaki. While they were leaving Sunlight turned to her mother "What do we do now mom?"
"Moonlight can go back to bed now" Electra answered "Flora, Glace you two should stay inside with me, Candy and Sunlight till we know what is going on. I can't have you two be exposed to this bug."
The girls all nodded their heads with Sunlight getting up "I might as well help you with the dishes mom!"
"I'll help too!" Candy offered.
"Thank you" Electra said to her daughters watching Moonlight walk up the stairs to her bedroom.
Deep down Electra had a feeling that she wasn't going to like.
