Chapter 371 Through the Window
"
Jax watched Scarlett sleep for a few moments. She was so beautiful whether her face was bare of make-up and her blonde hair was tumbled and messy from sleep or whether she had on make-up and her hair was curly or straight. He loved the curve of her lips and the way her dark lashes looked resting against her cheek as she slept. He wondered what it would feel like to wake up with her everyday.
The feisty side was a surprise, but he loved it. The way she fought for him with the MC, telling Chibs to stay away from him or she'd shove the broken end of a bottle up his ass or shoot him still made him smile. Without her going to get Tara, he would be dead.
Telling Kohn that he was three inches short of a Jax sized dick was almost as funny as her threat to Chibs. He wondered if she and Tara ever discussed men's dick sizes. Maybe there was some truth in what Scarlett said to Kohn.
He had never met a girl like Scarlett. He never imagined falling in love with her or waiting as long as he was to have sex with her. Her injury prevented that and he knew that she needed more time to feel closer to him. They were building a strong emotional bond.
His love for her was growing and deepening everyday. He was not going to take any chances with her safety. Kohn was never going to get the chance to harm her. He didn't care what he had to do to keep her safe even if that meant killing Kohn.
He was ready to go. He stood over her and softly called her name to wake her.
"Mike," she protested her eyes shut, "I'm too tired for sex."
Jax grinned and took the water bottle Scarlett kept on the nightstand by her, held the bottle high over her head and squirted her with water.
"It's raining inside," Jax said.
Scarlett sat up as fast as her body would allow her.
"Why did you do that?" she demanded.
"For the Mike comment."
Her eyes were sparkling mischievously.
"I was talking in my sleep."
"Very funny. If you aren't a good girl, I'll punish you by withholding the Jax Teller melt your bones kiss."
Scarlett widened her eyes in mock fear.
"OK. I'll be good. You are a vicious man."
Scarlett got ready before walking up to Jax and putting her arms around his neck.
"How about a preview of one of those melt my bones kisses?"
Jax shook his head in mock exasperation.
"You are just so demanding."
"Please," she said in her softest sweetest voice.
"Since you are begging," Jax said lowering his head and kissing her so softly and gently it felt like angel kisses when his phone buzzed alerting him that he had a text message. "Sorry," Jax said ending the kiss.
He looked at the message from Sack. He found Kohn. He was at Floyd's. Jax quickly texted him to stay there. He was on his way.
They got in the van, Jax driving as usual and headed out.
"I need to make a quick stop at Floyd's. It will just take a few minutes," he said parking the van. "Stay inside with the doors locked no matter what."
Jax got out of the van locking his door behind him without waiting for a reply.
He walked into the barber's shop. Sack was sitting in the waiting area. Only one other person besides Floyd was in the shop.
"Kohn?" Jax asked.
The man in the barber's chair was experiencing one of Floyd's legendary hot shaves. The pleasure of those shaves had almost caused him to get rid of his beard.
"Yeah, that's right," Kohn said opening his eyes. You're Jax Teller."
"You're not as dumb as you look," Jax said. "Hey Floyd, you might want to step back a bit," Jax said to Floyd who didn't have to be told twice. The short elderly man stepped back. This wouldn't be the first time there had been a fight in the barbershop. It also wouldn't be the first time Jax had been involved in the fight.
"You threatened my old lady," Jax said in a snarl. "You attacked her."
"The blonde whore? The bitch pepper sprayed me."
Jax was already struggling with holding his temper, but when Kohn referred to Scarlett as the blonde whore, he lost it. He grabbed Kohn by the front of his shirt and pulled him out of the barber's chair sending the hot towel tumbling to the floor.
"Don't you ever call her that again," Jax said.
Kohn was fumbling in his pocket, found his switch blade knife and pushed the button forward releasing the blade. He swung the blade. Jax was prepared. He released his hold on Kohn's shirt and swung his right elbow into Kohn's face catching him in the nose. It broke with a sickening crack. Kohn aimed a punch at Jax catching him in the forehead opening a cut by the outer corner of Jax's right eyebrow.
Sack was on his feet ready to provide back-up if Jax needed any help. He didn't think Jax would need help in putting a beat down on an out of shape ATF agent, but he was going to be prepared just the same.
Jax punched Kohn several times. There was a scuffle as Kohn tried to land punches to Jax's face. Jax finally grabbed Kohn and threw him through the front window. Jax stepped through the window and went over to Kohn who was sprawled on the sidewalk.
"You leave Scarlett and Tara alone," Jax said leaning over Kohn and spitting in his face.
"You're going to jail for this," Kohn gasped.
"Self-defense," Jax said with a smile. He spit in Kohn's face again because the first time had felt so good. "Sack," Jax yelled.
Sack hesitated between going through the door or window. He picked the window, stepping over the low windowsill and avoiding jagged shards of glass.
"Call the glass guy and get Floyd's window replaced and the lettering guy to put the sign on it. I'll call you when I get back."
Jax returned to the van and drove off.
"What happened?" Scarlett demanded.
"Kohn fell through the window," Jax said. "I may have helped a little."
