Chapter 372 SpongeBob on the Face

"

Scarlett looked anxiously at Jax.

"Are you OK?"

"Fine."

"Pull over so I can clean up your eyebrow wound and put a bandage on it."

"You don't need to do that."

"The blood's running down your face."

Jax pulled over and turned so he could face Scarlett. She opened her tote bag and pulled out a small first aid kit consisting of alcohol wipes and some bandages.

"Tell me what happened," she said as she used an alcohol wipe on his eyebrow.

"Sack called and told me he'd found Kohn at Floyd's. We spoke. He pulled a knife on me. We shared a few punches, mine connecting more than his. There was a scuffle and he went through the window with a little assistance from me."

"I saw you spit on him," Scarlett said as she put the bandage over the cut.

"MC protocol," Jax said with a grin.

"Are you going to get in trouble?"

"No," Jax said as he put his sunglasses on. "It was self-defense. Floyd and Sack will both swear to it."

"I hope that's the last we see of Kohn."

Scarlett smiled partly at Jax and partly as she wondered how long before he noticed he had a SpongeBob Band-Aid over his eyebrow.

"Let me see your hands and I'll wipe them with the alcohol," Scarlett said.

Jax held his hands out so she could clean them up.

"I've been thinking that when we get back to Charming, I'm going to see Tara and offer her protection while Kohn's in town. What do you think?"

"Is it part of the Jax Teller Prize Package?"

"No. You're the only one who gets that. There's a hang around—club speak for someone who hangs around the clubhouse doing odd jobs for us hoping to move up to prospect status—that works for Oswald in security who could keep an eye on her at night. Hospital security can watch her at work."

Scarlett leaned over, her pain level rising as the tried to bend her body. She kissed Jax on the cheek.

"Thank you. I'm glad you are going to get her protection too."

"There's a difference. She has a choice. She can accept my offer or not. You don't have a choice."

"I'm not going to whine about this protective streak in you. I kind of like it."

Scarlett more than liked it. She loved that he wanted to protect her and she knew she couldn't protect herself from a man like Kohn. Her father would also definitely approve of this protective streak.

When she got out of her physio appointment, she noticed Jax had removed the SpongeBob Band-Aid. She hadn't counted on him finding it so quickly. She'd hoped she wouldn't be around when he found it.

Why didn't she think through the consequences of her actions and how she was going to be in trouble with Jax? Easy because it was too much fun putting the SpongeBob Band-Aid on him without Jax knowing it and imagining him walking around with the cartoon Band-Aid on his face. She just couldn't resist.

She wondered how mad he was going to be at her. Maybe he would think it was really funny. No, if he thought it was really funny, he would have said something by now. No, in all likelihood, she was in trouble.

They stopped by and got fast food on the way back to Charming. Jax didn't mention the Band-Aid until they were on the outskirts of Charming. Scarlett understood then that part of Jax's punishment was letting her wonder when he was going to bring up the subject of the Band-Aid.

"You know you're in trouble with me," Jax said.

"Why?" Scarlett asked deciding to go with ignorance as her defense.

"You put a cartoon Band-Aid on my face."

"It was the Band-Aid that I had with me. I didn't think anything of it."

"Yeah and that's why when you saw me you knew you were in trouble. There will be punishment."

"Jax, I just wanted to have a little fun. I figured if any guy could look cool with a SpongeBob Band-Aid it was you. You did look very cool and hot."

"Damned right I did, but you are still in trouble. There will be no kisses for you and no dessert either."

"I'll have sugar withdrawal and turn into a complete bitch," Scarlett warned.

"Exactly how is that going to change your personality?"

"Very funny."

"You are just fortunate that I found SpongeBob before I went to TM or there really would be hell to pay. What is wrong with you?"

"I had to choose the Band-Aids and I thought the only way to make you look any cuter would be the SpongeBob Band-Aid."

"Are you saying I don't look good enough for you?"

"No, I'm saying that there's no possible way for you to look any more attractive, but I thought the contrast between your strong masculinity and the light hearted playfulness would provide a contrast that would . . ." Scarlett's voice trailed off. She was sort of talking in circles and not helping herself out so she decided to just quit speaking.

"You have talked yourself into more trouble and there will be additional retribution."

"What?"

"I haven't decided yet. Here I am trying to protect you and you put a cartoon Band-Aid on my fight wound."

"I'm a horrible person," Scarlett said. Jax's words had made her feel remorse and guilt.

"Yes, you are," Jax dead-panned.

He pulled in front of her store and called Sack to meet them at the store with TM's van or pick-up and he'd take it back to TM. Sack would ride back to Scarlett's condo.

Jax leaned over and looked into Scarlett's eyes. He brought his lips close to her lips and then before making contact, he abruptly pulled away grinning.

"Remember? No kisses for you."

"Cruelty is not a good look for you," Scarlett said.
