Chapter 375 Sack Gets Hired

"

Scarlett knew she was seriously in the dog house when Jax didn't even kiss her good-bye when Sack came to watch over her. She didn't want him to touch her when she thought he might be her brother, but now she really wanted him to touch her and kiss her.

That man could kiss. It surprised her that he enjoyed kissing so much. She wasn't exaggerating when she said that he melted her bones. No special Jax kiss for two days. Well, that was a challenge that she was going to accept. She was betting that she could persuade him to forget all about her punishment.

"What would you be doing if you weren't babysitting me?" Scarlett asked as Sack followed her into the store and she locked the door behind them.

"Something a lot less pleasant," Sack said.

"Do you work at TM?"

"I do odd jobs."

"When Jax mentioned that he was going to have you watch over me, I thought that maybe I could hire you to do some work for me around the store. I'm going to have to hire someone to help me or I'm never going to get this store ready."

"How long would you want my help?"

"I was hoping for several weeks. I can give you flexible hours and I'll pay you well."

"I'll have to check with Jax and Clay about working for you and not TM but if you will be flexible with my schedule, I don't see a problem. I can work for you at least for now while I'm keeping you safe. After I talk to Jax and Clay I'll let you know about later."

Sack looked very happy when they agreed on an hourly rate that was a lot more than he would have made if he got paid at TM. Sometimes he got paid and sometimes there wasn't enough work and prospects usually don't earn with the MC.

Scarlett had plenty of work to keep Sack busy. She had just finalized the plan for the store. She was hoping that he would be able to set up the different areas of her store. There were boxes of goods that needed unpacking, but she didn't want to do that until the areas got put together.

After Sack had been working about two hours, she invited him to take a break and have a cold drink. She kept a small refrigerator stocked with canned soft drinks. He got them each a root beer and he took a chair close to Scarlett's desk.

"Could I ask you a question about girls?" Sack asked.

"If it's about girls, I might be able to answer your question. If it's about relationships, you might be out of luck. I'm currently in the doghouse with Jax."

"What did you do?"

"If I tell you, you can't tell anyone especially Jax."

"I won't tell."

"After he got hurt, I cleaned his cut up and put a Band-Aid on it. It was a SpongeBob Band-Aid."

Sack had just taken a big sip root beer and it sprayed out of his mouth as he laughed at the picture of big, strong, tough and dangerous Jax Teller walking around with a cartoon Band-Aid on his face.

"Sorry," Sack said. "What did he do when he found out?"

"He was very unhappy with me."

"You had to know he would find out."

"No, I had another plan. I was going to tell him the Band-Aid looked like he'd bled through it and insist on changing it before we got back to Charming. He was never going to know."

"You know I told him about how Kohn attacked you," Sack said.

"Yeah, he told me. I'm still in the doghouse a little for not telling him."

"You pissed at me for telling him?"

"I know that your first loyalty is to the MC. I didn't see you. You may not have known that. If I'd told Jax that I saw you, Kohn grabbed me and you didn't tell him, you would have been in big trouble with him. I get it. I don't blame you."

"That's what I like about you. You're sensible."

"Until I do bad things like put cartoon Band-Aids on Jax, but it was pretty fun."

"I would have loved to have seen that," Sack said as he finished his root beer. "I kind of like this girl named Cherry. She's a crow-eater at the Sons Indian Hills charter. She's pretty and real nice, but I wonder if she's just with me because I'm with the MC."

"If you found out that she was with you because you're in the MC, would you still like her?"

Sack looked down at the floor and thought about that for a couple of moments.

"I don't know. She really wants to be an old lady."

"Maybe she really likes you and she wants to be an old lady."

"I don't think that you're with Jax because he's in the MC. I kind of want a girl to be with me because she wants to be with me."

"I'm not with Jax because he's in the MC. I didn't realize it was such a way of life. Is it hard for a girl outside the MC world to accept it? If you met a girl that didn't know about the MC life would that cause a problem later on?"

Sack tugged at the hair on his chin thoughtfully.

"I don't know. I never thought of it that way. Since I've been a prospect, I haven't been around many non-MC type girls."

"If you really wanted to test her, you could tell her you screwed up and don't think you will be able to join the MC."

"It's called making patch," he said. "I kind of like that idea."

"Before you do it, you need to make sure you want the answer to that question. Maybe what you really want to know is what would happen if a guy wanted to make her his old lady. Would she do it or does she want to pursue a future with you?"

Sack nodded.

"Yeah, that's a good point too."

"Sorry I couldn't give you any real answer."

"It's OK. You gave me a lot to think about. And I get to picture Jax with SpongeBob on his face thanks to you."

They both started laughing, Scarlett wrapping her arms around her waist to keep from pulling the muscles in her back and stomach as she laughed.

That night when she and Sack left her store, they saw Kohn watching them from across the street in a blue car. Scarlett thought it must be a new rental.

"I'm glad you're with me," Scarlett said.

So much for Kohn leaving town.
