Little Toy Bikers and a Woman on the Run

"

Chapter 374 Offer Made

"

Jax looked over at Scarlett.

"Cruelty is not a good look for me. That's all you have to say?" Jax asked.

"I have an even better punishment for me. Just don't have sex with me," she suggested with a smile.

Jax leaned over in the car seat so he could look deeply into her green eyes.

"Two days without the special Jax kiss."

"Two days!" she exclaimed. "What did I do to deserve two days?"

"I don't like your attitude. If you don't behave I won't spend the night with you and Sack will be sleeping on your couch tonight. Now, are you going to behave?"

"Yes. Could I have just a little kiss?"

Jax smiled, leaned closer and whispered "no" softly in her ear.

Sack pulled up in the tow truck. Jax hopped in the truck and headed off leaving Sack to watch over Scarlett.

He drove to the hospital hoping to see Tara. He found her in her office between consultations.

"You have a minute?" he asked.

"Sure. Come on in."

Jax closed the door of her office. He looked around at the framed diplomas, the books, the small sofa and arm chairs along with a desk and two chairs. Tara's office was really nice, but he hated the gray on gray on gray color scheme.

Tara had been standing looking at some paperwork when he interrupted her.

"I heard about what happened yesterday with Kohn."

"Heard about what?" Tara asked.

"I know that Kohn tried to attack Scarlett. Sack saw what happened and told me. He was going to help when he saw you run to Scarlett's aid. Thank you for helping her."

"Scarlett didn't really need my help. She pepper sprayed him."

"I'm worried that Kohn is going to come after you and Scarlett again. I've got protection for her 24/7. Sack who was in Iraq is watching her during the days and I'll take the nights. Until Kohn's back in Chicago, she won't be alone."

"Hale says he has been ordered to report to work on Monday."

"Yeah, Scarlett told me. Look, I want to offer you protection. I've got a hang around that heads up Oswald's security. Oswald won't have a problem with allowing him to work flexible hours since it's to help you. He can escort you to and from work. He can also stay with you at night."

"Thank you, Jax," Tara said. "I really appreciate this."

"That was easy," Jax said. "Give me your phone and I'll put Steve's name in it."

Tara took her phone out of the pocket of her white coat and handed it to Jax. He quickly added the number to her phone.

"If there's any kind of problem with him, let me know. He's always been a good guy around the clubhouse and he's done a good job with things we've asked him to do," Jax said as he handed back Tara's phone.

Tara hugged Jax.

"Thank you."

Jax smiled.

"I'm glad you're OK with this."

"I'd be a fool to turn your offer down. Kohn is dangerous. I think once he knows that someone is around me, he'll go away."

"Scarlett knows that I was going to offer my help."

"Does she know the hot rumor going around town? Someone threw Kohn through Floyd's window this morning?"

"Really? The man makes enemies," Jax said coolly.

"You wouldn't know anything about that?"

"Maybe there is such a thing as karma. I'll let Steve know that you'll be calling him when you get off work."

"Thanks again, Jax."

"Glad to help."

"Does Kohn have more than a minor cut above the eye?"

"You know it," Jax said laughing.

Tara smiled. She was relieved that she would have some protection until Kohn left town.
