Ok guys I have no excuse expet that this chapter felt new to me. I mean I never wrote anything this mushy in awhile and I wanted to make sure it was as good and fitting as possible. Also it's a bit short and will likely be the shortest chapter in the story.
And sicne this chapter is so short I will be adding the next chapter as quickly as possible, I already have it summarized so I hope to get it done by next week.
Ok now here's the chapter and I hope you enjoy.
Chapter 33 To Forgive
Bulma blinked a couple times at her son's question. "Why do you want to know that?"
Trunks shrugged his shoulders. "We'll for one thing I think they should know that I'm ok and it's time to move on."
His mother scanned him with her eyes, she couldn't see him forcing himself to say this, the look he was giving, his body expressions, and the tone of his voice. He was completely serious. "Trunks... are you really ready?" She sighed. "Ok, but why the sudden change, I remember a few days ago you weren't sure about giving them a chance so what changed?"
He confirmed with a nod. "I'm finally ready to come to terms with them, it's about time I set things right." Then he smiled. "And to answer your second question, you remember when I said I had to remove whatever feeling was holding me back." The hybrid explained. "That feeling was my hate towards 17 and 18, neither of them deserved it, and now I want to patch things up with them... and to be friends with them.
So that was it, Gohan telling him to forgive the androids is one thing but Vegeta too? His time in otherworld must have changed the man. Bulma shook her head and tried to recover from her surprise. "Northwest of here, 30 miles before south city."
He nodded and walked out the door. "Thanks mom, I'll see you later." He said as he walked to the patio and flew upward towards the direction.
As Bulma watched her son fly she looked to 16. "I'm glad that this is finally happening."
The android nodded his head with a smile. "Yes, I hope that he will finally make friends with 17 and 18."
(-)-(-)-
As Trunks flew towards the location his mother told him, a focus look colored his face, he knew from the beginning that things weren't going to be easy. But he needed to this, he wants to do this. If not now then things may never change between him and the cyborgs. Now that he's rid of himself of the shackles of his own hate he knows he can do this. 'Shouldn't be far now.' He thought as he was nearing a forest area.
The half saiyan closed his eyes imagining what he should say and do. He called forth his memories of the two from the years he knew them before they were brought to their senses and compared them to now.
Back then it was easy to hate them, the things they did the things they said. How they could kill without any regret Trunks didn't know at the time. He thought that it was because they were completely mechanic in those times. How they slaughtered his father , killed all the z-fighters mercilessly, when he bonded with their last survivor Gohan, they killed him just as easily.
That might be why he hated them the most, yes he hated seeing or even the
innocent dying, but Gohan who had been a brother to him hurt his heart the most during those 3 years.
And now after more time has passed, after he had deactivated 17 and 18. Was killed by Cell and revived with the namekien dragonballs, and 17 and 18. Things started to change quickly.
He remembered discovering the monsters he grew under were alive as well, and then their first battle against Super Android 13. That was their first fight as a team, him and the androids worked together to stay alive. He remembers how 18 showed concern for him when 13 was beating him senselessly. Then the two teamed up against meta-13 so he and his uncle can escape with their lives, then he risked his own life to try to save them as well. And not to mention the fight against Broly.
He still sees 18 begging him to get on the ship as well, 17 making a comment which can easily show his worry for his safety. The two weren't enemies, they never were, it was Dr Gero who controlled them, it was him who killed his father, who killed Gohan. Now thanks to his father and Gohan he knew that.
Trunks opened his eyes and smiled. He can do this, he can start fresh with 17 and 18. Then he looked down over the forest, his pupils searched until finally he sees a house with a capsule logo on it. 'Alright here goes nothing.'
The half human flew downward and landed in front of the house. He walked towards the door and raised pressed the door bell next to it. 'Hope their home.' He thought realizing that he can't sense their energy. He sees the door open slowly. The one who opened the door was Android 18 who had a frown and a troubled look on her face.
He looked at her scratching the back of his head. "Hello...18."
The cyborg looked up and down her visitor. Her face changed from sad to stoic as she looked at him but then smiled. "Trunks... I sensed your energy a while ago" She began. "And... I'm glad your safe." The android smiled and pulled the door all the way open. "Would... you like to come in?" She asked hesitantly.
Trunks nodded with a friendly smile. "Yeah" He replied as he walked inside and looked around. "So your brother is he here?"
She shut the door. "He's out somewhere, either his job or giving himself a vacation."
"He has a job?" He asked, from what he knew of 17 he'd never let himself get employed.
8 nodded. "Yeah... hey, I'll go get us some tea you make yourself at home." Trunks nodded and walked to the living room and sat on the couch. The hybrid
looked around the house to see that it wasn't really much, only decorated with a few paintings and such. 'Alright.. I guess I'll start talking with her first.'
The platinum blonde was in the kitchen making tea. 'I'm glad he's here...but why?' She thought, but then shook her head. 'No, it doesn't matter.' She thought thinking back to their little spar on the spaceship. 'I guess he wants to pick up where we left off.' The cyborg concluded as she had the tea ready. She walked to the living room and placed a tea cup in front of Trunks. "Here"
The warrior looked at it and nodded. "Thanks" He said as he took the tea and took a sip of it's contents. "Alright, so I'm guessing you'd like to know how I beat Broly?"
18 nodded, thinking it'd be a good idea to start a conversation. She listened to him as he explained his tale, about how he beat Broly, achieved a new level of SSJ, and about Tarble's decision. "That must have been hard for you... I'm sorry." She offered.
"Thank you, and there's something else I wanted to talk to you about." Trunks stated as he took another sip.
She looked at him curiously. "What is it?"
Trunks put the cup down and looked at her with narrowed eyes, not in anger but in seriousness. "As you know, since you and 17 came back" He began and looked away for a moment as if trying to find the right words. "even though we know you two were controlled, I have had trouble accepting you two being apart of our group."
18 looked down and then slowly shifted her eyes into Trunks's. It was painful thinking of the past. "I say were doing fine, I mean" She too hesitated. "We worked well together and I know your already trying your hardest to accept us." She said and then looked away. "It's fine if you haven't yet." The cyborg then felt a hand on her shoulder, she turned and looked up at Trunks who had a frown on his face as well.
The warrior shook his head. "No it's not fine." He said and looked away for a moment. "Even after my mother and I learned that you were controlled, I still hated you guys, even a year later I still couldn't deny it, no matter how much I evidence was in front of me, I couldn't stop resenting you for everything that happened to Gohan, my father and the rest of the z-fighters." He explained. "I never stopped blaming you and your brother for it."
18 looked down again as he talked, why did he have to tell her this. "I said it's fine I understand that you-"
"I'm not done." Trunks stated grabbing her attention again. "But now, after everything we've been through, all those times you and 17 helped us out, risking your lives for us... and that time you were trying to get me in the ship."
The cyborg narrowed her eyes in anger, she didn't like this talk at all. "Where are you going with this?"
Trunks sighed and then smiled. "I wanted you to know that, I no longer blame you or 17 for what happened."
For a few moments only silence could be heard between the two.
Neither one spoke a word, 18's face froze with a sadden expression, her eyes began watering and her fists clenched on her knees. "What" She asked for a moment. "Do... do you really mean it?"
Trunks looks at her and nodded. "I was wrong to have blamed you in the first place 18, you and your brother." He stated honestly. "All this time, I kept blaming you and 17 because I remember how you two killed everyone you saw, laughing as if it was some kind of game... but in the end neither of you had any control of what you were doing, it was Dr Gero, he was the one and the only one to blame for any of this."
18 started letting her tears fall out of her eyes, not of sadness but of happiness. The cyborg looked into the young man's eyes, trying to see if he was forcing himself to say this out of necessity. However he saw no nervousness or anger in his eyes like she did when they sparred in the spaceship. Was this really happening, did the half saiyan she wanted to make up with actually forgive her and 17? She wasn't used to crying, at least not in front of others.
Trunks sees her crying, something he hasn't seen since their reunion a year ago. "18, are you ok?"
18 wiped her eyes as she stood up and looked at Trunks with a smile of her own. "Y-you have no idea how happy I am to hear you say that." She kept rubbing her eyes trying to stop herself from shedding more tears. "For so long I wondered if you'd ever forgive me."
Trunks shook his head. "Like I said all my anger was misplaced, Dr Gero was the one who controlled you two into doing horrible things, both of you weren't in control of what happened." He replied with a sad face not used to seeing her cry, he knew 18 was a strong woman and to see her in such a state hurt him. "And I'm sorry for putting you threw this, both you and 17."
18 sniffled and tried to talk seriously as she wiped her eyes. "You had every right to hate us... I remember all the things I did, every word I said, every person I killed and..." She looked at him through his eyes. "And tormenting you... honestly I'm not sure which I regret the most." She said with her stoic tone slowly coming back.
Trunks sees that she's fighting not to cry, so he slowly moved his arms, hesitantly he wrapped them around the cyborg much to her surprise. "What I went through... was tough... I waited every day... watching the news... listening to the radio... sensing for energies suddenly vanishing, wondering when" He stopped for a moment trying to find the right words. "wondering when your controlled selves would attack, wondering how many I could have saved if I had been stronger, scared for my own life and leaving my mother alone and angry at myself for not being strong enough to stop the attacks."
As 18 listened, every word was like a dagger to her heart, letting out more tears. "I'm sor-"
"But" Trunks cut her off. "What you've been through after being brought back to life, realizing that you weren't in control of yourself, being able to remember all the things you did when you knew you weren't in control, never even able to fight the control Dr Gero had on you, all the people who died by your hands that were out of your control, feeling guilty for something that wasn't your fault at the same time being remembered as a monster by so many people,... I don't even want to think what thats like, but you too went through pain, maybe even more than I did." He admitted. "I'm sorry for not even considering that, and I promise that all the anger I had for you and your brother is behind me now." He said hugging her tighter. "I promise from now on I'll always be there for you, as your friend."
18 started wrapping her arms around Trunks as well . For so long she kept her sadness to herself, rarely showing it even when 17 wasn't looking, but right now, she felt like it was alright to allow Trunks to see her this way. She sobbed into Trunks's shoulder letting out all the sadness she held deep inside, her tears hitting his shoulder. After for so long she's feels a great burden being lifted off her shoulders now that she had made friends with the one she wanted to start new with since her revival.
Trunks held a straight face as 18 kept sobbing into his embrace, he felt bad that he was the one who caused her pain when it wasn't her fault or 17's. He placed a hand on her hair wanting nothing more than to comfort his new friend.
We'll I hope I did this chapter right. 18 may seem ooc but remember this is a different 18, she remembers killing people when she was brainwashed to, so I think I did this right.
Also I was debating whether or not I should include 17's reaction to Trunks moving but I decided to save that for later and also I wanted to give Trunks and 18 a little moment to themselves, but don't worry we'll see him soon.
Now I know this chapter was short but I'm not used to writing peaceful chapters and I thought it'd be ok to make this one short.
Lazer355- Thank you, I thought that I'd give Broly a memorable way to die, and what better way than having him realize that Goku who he never met since he was born would be dead before he got a chance to clash against him.
As for Tarble I'm glad you feel that way, at first I wasn't planning on him permanently dying but I thought that he already completed he's purpose as a character of this fanfic and also i think he'd like to stay in otherworld anyway. As for Vegeta, maybe, we might see later.
shadowwriter01- I'm glad I got that right, wasn't sure how to write his reaction. But I think I'm satisfied, I just wished I developed him more as a villain like Unburdened Fury only less.
But anyway I know I answered this in a PM but I want to make it clear for anyone else who read your review. It's been five days so 17 and 18 are already out of the time chamber.
But at any rate I hope I did this chapter right what do you think?
So Dragonball Super is having it's problems, oh well I remember Dragonball Z having animation problems sometimes, also so does some of the newer episodes of One Piece, maybe it'll get better in time. Hopefully in time for a dubbed version.
W- Everyone has their opinions on a character's strength, I'll stick with my opinion and you stick with yours. Sorry but these 'discussions' usually end up as arguments, I hope you can enjoy the story either way.
Guest- I don't remember that, but if so oh well. No reason to change that now and even if there was I wouldn't know how to. Thanks for pointing that out though I had no idea New Namek was in a different location.
Alright guys and as usual see you at the next chapter, and I hope you have an awesome day. :)
