Chapter 394 Down the Dark Dirt Road

"

Louise dug a pack of watermelon bubblegum out of her handbag, unwrapped two sticks of gum and put them in her mouth. This was part of her plan to keep her mother from catching on about her trip to Enzo's. The gum should kill the Chinese food and French fries on her breath.

She was looking forward to the quarter being over. She'd taken an insane six classes. Never again. That was just too many units. Even the community colleges were requiring papers in almost every class in an effort to combat college students getting degrees without being able to write. As a result, she was writing papers almost nonstop. A few more weeks, finals and then life would get easier.

To make up the time that she'd spent eating in Enzo's parking lot, she normally took a shortcut down this dirt road. Everyone took it. The city should really just pave it and make it official.

She enjoyed taking the dirt road for the mile or so to get to the other side of town without having to take a loop around the city to get to the other side. Charming was a small town in terms of population, but it was seven square miles in terms of area.

She knew her mother would have a fit if she knew she took the dirt road shortcut at night. Her mother was always worried about things that weren't going to happen. This was Charming. Nothing would happen to her.

As she turned down the road, she began to sing with the radio to an Adele song. Life had never seem so full of promise. Her future was right around the corner and she could hardly wait.

Author's Note: If you haven't discovered my new story Taming Ava, you might want to give it a try. It's a different Jax. I am also doing a newer story Quarantine & Love: Jax and the Romance Writer. It's a shorter story that should wrap in under twenty chapters—maybe way under twenty chapters depending on reader response. Both stories are rated "M", so you have to change your filters to view them.
