Chapter 410 Figure It Out
"
After Jax left, Scarlett returned to her desk and checked her phone. It had been careless of her to screw up turning her phone's ringer off. Her father had to always be able to get in touch with her. No messages from her father. That was good. One less ass chewing for the day. She had a couple of vendor calls she could return Monday and two calls and a text from Tara.
She frowned, but decided to call Tara from the police department. Nothing stealthy or suspicious about that. It's what an innocent person would do and they were both innocent.
"Hi, Tara," Scarlett said. "I'm at the police department."
"Is everything OK?" Tara asked nervously.
"Not really. There's a young woman named Louise that works at a convenience store near TM who's missing. SAMCRO and the police are doing a massive search. I'm helping the police by making phone calls."
"That's terrible news," Tara said relief in her voice.
"It's horrible. How are you doing?"
"I'm suspended from work until I'm cleared of the Kohn . . . thing. I'm kind of going stir crazy. Do you want to grab dinner while Jax is in church?"
"I can't. There's no church tonight. Just the MC and . . ." Scarlett paused having trouble saying the words "old ladies are getting together for pizza tonight."
"Oh, well, do you want to grab lunch tomorrow?" Tara said.
"I'm helping with the search efforts tomorrow. Kind of being a go between law enforcement and SAMCRO."
"I don't suppose I could help," Tara said wistfully.
"Probably not a good idea to be hanging around the police department. Do you get along well enough with the MC to help them?"
"The guys I'm OK with. It's Gemma and the crow-eaters that are the problem. I'm just so bored hanging out in this motel room."
Scarlett was doing her best to not jump on Tara. She was going through a tough time dealing with the aftermath of killing Kohn, but Tara was an adult with a car, money and a computer. She had plenty of resources to keep her occupied.
"Have you been back to the house yet?"
"No. I've been dreading that. Do you think you could go with me?"
"I'll do that, but it won't be for a few days. Why don't you figure out what you want to do with the bedroom? You are going to need carpet for that bedroom. You could paint it, get new carpet and really give the room a makeover."
"That's a great idea," Tara said enthusiastically. "Maybe get some new furniture, some new vinyl for the bathroom even a new vanity. I don't even know how to start a project like that."
"Figure out what colors you want to use," Scarlett said trying to keep her impatience out of her voice. She was sorely tempted to tell her to behave like an adult woman but held her tongue. "Do you want your bedroom to be calming or do you want something sleeker and more modern? Do you want country, minimalistic, beachy, serene, contemporary? Go to some stores and get ideas, go to hardware stores and look at vanities. Get some paint samples."
"Thanks Scarlett. You've given me something to do for the weekend. Good luck on your search for Louise. I hope you all find her and she's OK."
"OK, Tara. Take care of yourself," Scarlett said ending the call.
Scarlett was torn over the situation with Tara. She felt sorry for her and what she was going through, but if Tara had had her way Jax would have killed Kohn and been faced with those consequences.
She also wasn't very patient with people who whine about not having anything to do. Tara was an adult and should have figured out a constructive use of her time. She'd suggested Tara give her bedroom a makeover to give her something to do. Tara should have been able to figure that out for herself.
Staying friends with Tara was looking less and less likely.
