Chapter 415 SAMCRO Tip
"
Scarlett drove to the police department and deliberately didn't think about Louise. She would spend the day agonizing over the search and constantly thinking about Violet, but for now she wanted to think about Jax.
She was glad she'd told Jax about Violet. She knew he would understand why she hadn't told him the truth about her true reasons for coming to Charming. That's why she had even told him she'd deliberately set up the meeting with him and trusted him to keep her connection to Violet secret.
She wasn't sure if she would ever tell him about Clay killing her mother. It would depend on her plan to take Clay down by getting him kicked out of SAMCRO and thrown in prison unprotected. Revealing that Clay was his bio dad would probably never happen. That would be some traumatic information.
He just made everything easy. She'd never expected him to confess he'd hooked up with Violet. She was glad he did. It made her trust him a little more and her love for him grow.
She was going to have to tell him her secret if you could call it that soon. He'd been patient with her, but he wouldn't wait forever and things were moving along. She felt secure with him and she trusted him. It was just saying the words, watching his face and dredging up all those old feelings. Her stomach twisted and she thought she should just sleep with him and not tell him. It would be easier. Maybe it would be easier. She didn't have to make a decision now.
David greeted her when she walked into the police department.
"Any news?" she asked.
"No. Lois, Louise's mother, is going to do TV interviews to plead for her daughter's safe return. Maybe if someone's holding her . . .," David said his trailed off.
"I've seen those interviews. I always feel so sorry for the people."
"Jax and Clay did a good job with their interview about SAMCRO's reward offer," David said carefully watching Scarlett's face.
"Yeah, I saw it at the clubhouse yesterday."
David gave her a look and Scarlett suspected that he didn't like how involved she was getting with the MC. If she'd been a normal person, she would never encourage anyone to get involved with a guy in an outlaw MC, but she'd lost her normal life when her multi-millionaire psycho ex decided to kill her on their honeymoon. A normal guy would never understand what she was going through and why she couldn't go to the police for help. She wished she could reassure him that she knew what she was doing.
While she waited for tips to funnel to the MC, she started calling again only this time the places she was calling were in the unincorporated county area. Boring job, but somebody needed to do it. She'd made seven calls when David handed her a slip of paper with information on it.
"This guy says he's got information but he'll only talk to SAMCRO," David said putting a piece of paper on her desk.
"Thanks," she said taking the slip of paper. "I'll let Jax know and then let you know what he finds out."
Scarlett stared at the paper. For some reason she had this overwhelming feeling that this was a trap. While no one was looking, she stuffed the paper in her bag and went to the ladies room.
The women's bathroom that she used was attached to the female police officers' locker room. It reminded her of a PE locker room. It had a large shower with room for six, lockers and a couple of bathroom stalls. She didn't go into a stall. She wanted to be able to see if anyone walked into the bathroom.
For several moments she debated whether or not she was going to give the tip to Jax. She knew her father would tell her that Jax could take care of himself. He wasn't the one who saw Jax after he'd gotten shot and thought he was going to die
"I have a tip," Scarlett said finally deciding to give the tip to Jax.
"We're ready to go."
"I think it might be a trap. The guy told David that he only wanted to talk to SAMCRO. Just something feels off."
"Hale had a point that some people don't want to talk to the cops. It's not that unusual."
"I agree, but there's something that just feels wrong about this."
Jax thought through that for a moment.
"You could be right. The two guys that tried to kill us are still out there. It would be an easy trap to set. One or both could have seen us on TV last night and figured that we would be willing to check out a tip for the cops and they couldn't call us direct because that would look even more suspicious."
"Maybe you shouldn't go," Scarlett said. "I don't think you should go."
"We're going to go, but we'll all be going and we'll scout the location and make damned sure that we aren't walking into a trap."
"I really don't like this."
"It will be OK. This isn't our first rodeo."
"Just call me when you've checked it out and let me know you're safe."
"Good to know you care," Jax said teasingly.
"Jax," Scarlett said her voice hardening. "I'm serious about this. There's something wrong here."
"I'll be fine. We will be very careful and I will call you."
As Scarlett ended the phone call, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was sending him into an ambush.
