Chapter 417 Prepare for Combat
"
Jax returned his phone to an inside pocket of his cut. Even if Scarlett hadn't warned him that she suspected he was walking into a trap, they would have prepared for it. He knew that she didn't like the danger, but that came with his being part of the MC. His new bullet proof vest courtesy of her father was in the saddlebag on his bike. He would be sure to put it on before they left. Scarlett wouldn't be happy if he got shot again and he wasn't very excited about the idea either.
"OK listen up guys," Jax said to the MC gathered in the clubhouse.
Tig helpfully stuck his fingers in his mouth and whistled to help quiet the guys.
"We got a lead," Jax said. "Person only wants to talk to SAMCRO. No cops. I think it might be a trap."
"Chapel," Clay said. "We plan this out."
"You think it's the shit-eating Mayans and it's a trap?" Tig asked.
"Could be," Clay said leading the guys into the chapel where they all took their usual seats at the table.
Juice had his laptop and pulled up images on Google earth so they could see the address. It was a rundown house close to the streams just outside the city limits. There were some bushes and trees nearby that they or someone who wanted to ambush them could use for cover.
"Let me give this guy a call and see where he wants to meet us. I'll put it on speaker," Jax said pulling out his cell and calling the number Scarlett had given him when she gave him the address.
"This is Jax Teller. Heard you had some information about Louise that you want to give us."
"Yeah, I know some stuff."
"Do you know where she's being held?"
"Not on the phone. Just come to this address," the man said. He repeated the address that Scarlett had given him.
"We're on the other side of San Joa. Take us at least forty-five minutes to get there."
"OK. Come then. How many are you going to come?" the man said trying too hard to make the question casual.
"Just me and one of my guys," Jax said. "The rest our out searching."
"OK."
"See you in a few," Jax said ending the call.
"Definitely an ambush," Clay said.
"Yeah," Jax agreed.
They worked together to come up with a plan. They didn't know if they were facing Esai Alvarez and Hector Salazar or maybe Alvarez and the Mayans who had gotten the OK from Nero to end the gun deal and the Sons.
As they worked out the details for their plan to counter the ambush, Jax could see that Happy was excited. His eyes took on a shine and a muscle worked in his jaw. That was Happy excited. He was a good man in a tight situation. Always kept a cool head.
It was in moments like this that Jax felt that bond of love with his brothers. This was what the MC was all about brothers working together for a common goal. They were all focused on figuring out the best plan and everyone offered suggestions. Soon they had their plan together.
Piney and Sack were going to follow along in the van just in case someone got hurt and couldn't ride back.
As the rest of the guys were mounting their bikes, putting on their helmets and preparing for their ride, Jax took off his cut and shirt before putting on his bullet proof vest and redressing.
"Afraid of getting shot again?" Opie asked.
"He got shot in the ass. Vest didn't help," Chibs said.
"Thanks, Chibs," Jax said drily. "I remember."
"Juice remembers the best," Tig said chiming in. "He had his fingers up Jax's ass."
Jax and Juice avoided eye contact.
"It wasn't gay," Juice insisted.
"Medically necessary," Chibs said coming to Jax's aid.
"Not recreational?" Opie suggested wagging his fingers at Jax.
"It was really recreational," Jax said with a grin giving Juice a wink. He decided to shut down the conversation by just going with it much to Juice's embarrassment. Juice's face turned bright red.
"Hey, Juice was it good for you?" Kozik asked.
"Enjoyed it, did you Juicy?" Bobby suggested.
Everyone laughed except Juice.
"Let's hope no one has to put his fingers up anyone's ass after this. Recreational or otherwise," Clay said. "We don't want this turning into a goat rodeo."
The guys headed out.
"
Author's Note: I was messaging with a reader who gave me the term "goat rodeo" and I love it. You can google it or look it up online using the urban dictionary. It basically means a spectacular series of screw-ups that are so bad they can't be fixed and you just look on in horror. Basically, Season 7 was one big goat rodeo for me. I think that makes the meaning clear too. Many thanks to my great reader.
