Little Toy Bikers and a Woman on the Run
"
Chapter 421 Trail Cameras
"
SAMCRO regrouped around the van on the dirt road near the house. Jax and Opie downloaded what happened at the house to the guys.
"Do we go to the chair factory or not?" Jax asked.
"Too dangerous. We don't know how many guys will be waiting for us inside," Clay said.
"Wouldn't need to be more than one guy if he had an AR and good cover. Automatic weapons help equalize things," Jax said.
"We need to know whose behind this ambush," Opie said.
"Trail cameras," Jax suggested. "We strap them to street lights or utility poles on the entrances to the chair factory and check them later."
"I like that," Clay said nodding his head. "We'll find out if we have an entire MC after us or if it's just one guy."
"No use risking anyone getting killed," Bobby said.
"We know it's a trap. No point in walking into it," Jax agreed.
Juice had pulled up pictures of the chair factory on Google to look at the area surrounding it.
"There are only two entry/exit points," Juice said.
"OK," Clay said. "I want you and Chibs to get the trail cameras and install them. We'll check them tonight or tomorrow."
"We need to have guys at the entrances watching until the cameras get installed," Jax said.
"I'll do it," Happy volunteered. "I bet that little bastard Esai is behind this. I really want to kill him."
Everyone laughed at this uncharacteristic display of passion from Happy.
"Tell us how you really feel," Tig said.
"He tried to wipe out SAMCRO. He can't die enough for that," Happy said seriously.
"I agree with that," Jax said, "and so does my ass."
The guys laughed again.
"I'll watch the other entrance," Kozik volunteered.
"Hide," Clay instructed them. "Don't let them see you."
"Maybe we'll get lucky and it will be just Esai and I'll kill his ass," Happy said.
"Safety first," Clay said.
Happy nodded but everyone knew that Happy would take crazy chances to get Esai. That was just Happy. He was always the most gung-ho when it came to killing.
"I'm going to go by the police station and tell Scarlett what happened. She may have some more real tips for us this time," Jax said.
"I'll go with you," Opie said quickly.
"Thanks brother," Jax said.
There was some disappointment that the tip had turned out to be a set up. All the guys were hoping that they might be able to solve Louise's disappearance to show up Charming PD.
Jax called Scarlett to come outside when he got to the police department. Opie waited with the bikes as Jax took Scarlett off to one side where they were screened from view and he kissed her one of those melt your bones kisses.
Scarlett looked at him when he ended the kiss.
"So it was an ambush," she said looking at him thoughtfully.
He looked at her, laughing and shaking his head. Only Scarlett would have that reaction after a kiss.
"Yeah, you were right."
"You seem to be in one piece. What about the others?"
"Everyone is whole. We went to the house. Opie and I talked to the guy. Told us he'd seen Louise's body at this old abandoned chair factory. We talked a little more and the guy admitted he was paid by some guy to tell us that story. We explained what would have happened to him if we'd gone to the chair factory and anyone had gotten hurt."
"I'm guessing he won't make that mistake again," Scarlett said.
"Not if he wants to stay out of the hospital. Idiot."
"I've got a couple of tips for you. The people gave their names and they all live in Charming or nearby."
"OK, we'll look into these. Just tell Hale that the tip there was nothing to the tip."
"I could tell him that the guy claimed he saw Louise's body at the chair factory and the sheriffs could go out there."
"We've got it. We're going to put cameras up so when whoever was behind this trap leaves, we'll know who it is."
"David said that if they can't find Louise today, a charity that helps find missing people will organize a search. His father is on the charity's board. Also, they are talking about getting the FBI involved if they can sell them on the idea that Louise has been kidnapped."
"Just what Charming needs—more law enforcement. Remember we're having dinner at my mother's tonight."
"I remember," Scarlett said.
"Opie and Donna will be there. Piney is babysitting. I'll come by at 6:30."
"OK."
Scarlett handed Jax the paperwork with the tips on them.
"Since you're here this will save me calling you with them."
Jax looked through the four sheets of papers Scarlett had given him nodding as he read the information written on them before slipping them into an inside pocket of his cut.
"I know all these people. We'll check them out and I'll let you know."
"Be careful."
"Always," he said kissing her quickly on the lips.
He walked over to Opie and their bikes and watched as Scarlett walked back inside the police department.
"Good news?" Opie asked.
"Bad. The FBI could be headed here if they classify Louise's disappearance as a kidnapping."
"More Feds in town. That's not good."
"Clay's really not going to like it," Jax said grimly.
The need to find Louise was more urgent now. They had to find Louise to keep the FBI from camping out in town.
