Chapter 428 Kicking Doors

"

Jax drove Opie and Sack to the clubhouse where they picked up handguns just in case there was anybody left behind at the chair factory that needed killing. It was probably an unnecessary precaution but there was no point in taking a chance when they didn't need to.

Jax knew that just as Scarlett's Corvette had weapons hidden in it, the van did as well. Unless he absolutely had to reveal this secret to the guys, he would keep it a secret. It had only taken a few minutes to swing by the clubhouse and arm up.

Before they reached the chair factory, they checked out the intersection where Happy almost got too close with a hay truck. Jax drove slowly so they could take a look at the skid marks and the debris from the bike going down. The bike had already been taken to TM to be checked over and repaired.

Jax pulled behind the chair factory and he and Opie checked out the trail cameras. From different angles both cameras caught a man about the height of Esai wearing a bike helmet take a motorcycle from behind a clump of oleander bushes, get on the bike and leave. They couldn't get a close enough look to positively verify that it was Esai Alvarez, but they didn't need that step; they knew that was Esai. They put the cameras in Scarlett's van.

Jax was angry at the idea of this guy having the balls to take on his entire MC on his own. It made SAMCRO look like a bunch of pussies. Esai should have scurried off to Mexico where he might have lived a few more years. Coming at SAMCRO like this was desperate and stupid. And it was going to be fatal.

Maybe worse, Esai was making SAMCRO look bad because they hadn't been able to catch him when he was obviously still in the area. They were going to have to come at this hard. Now that he was almost completely recovered, finding and killing Esai was going to be Jax's first priority.

"You think this was a suicide mission for him?" Opie asked Jax.

"Maybe. That makes him more dangerous."

"That's like Iraq," Sack said. "A group of them would die to just kill one person."

"Did you ask the Prospect a question?" Jax asked Opie.

"No, I didn't."

"Then why was he talking?" Jax asked Opie.

"Because he doesn't want to make patch," Opie suggested.

"Prospect, shut the fuck up unless we speak to you," Jax said.

"Sorry, sir," Sack said nervously swallowing hard. He looked like he was about to salute.

"Sir?" Opie asked. "We're not in the military and we sure as hell aren't officers."

"Sorry," Sack said quickly. "Just plain sorry."

Jax and Opie exchanged amused looks. Giving the Prospect hell never got old.

They decided to use the factory's back door because it couldn't be seen from the street. Jax and Opie pulled their guns from their cuts and flipped the safeties off.

"Let's go," Jax said to Sack. "Show us how to kick in a door Iraq style."

Sack kicked the door. There was a blinding flash of light and a deafening bang. The men automatically backed up quickly.

"What the hell?" Jax said moments later.

"Dumbass used a flashbang grenade instead of an explosive grenade," Sack said grinning.

"Good job, Prospect," Opie said.

"Let's get the hell out of here," Jax said. "There's no telling if Esai left us more surprises inside."

Jax and Opie flipped the safeties back on their weapons and the trio ran to Scarlett's van and took off.

"You still want to patch SAMCRO?" Jax asked.

"Hell yes!" Sack yelled enthusiastically.

Author's Note: I had a reader ask about getting back to more about Scarlett. I need to do two short chapters at the hospital and then back to a lot more Scarlett and Jax. They'll be having intense relationship conversations.

Scarlett's going to say something that will shock and amaze Jax

It's always a juggling act. Some readers really like the guys together as an MC and others really like Jax and Scarlett.
