Chapter 431 Butt Out

"

Gemma was wiping her make-up off with a make up remover wipe. She looked at Clay in the mirror. He was already in bed sitting up waiting for her.

"I can't believe tonight," Gemma said.

"That was one amazing bit of riding on Happy's part. No one else would have walked away from it."

"That's not what I meant. I mean it's great about Happy and I'm glad he's OK, but I'm thinking about that little bitch Scarlett. I decided to be the bigger person."

Clay shook his head, a faint smile on his face.

"Didn't go well?"

"I told her that I didn't want Jax broken hearted. She told me that Jax could handle it since he'd gone through it with Tara. She was practically telling me that she was going to break his heart."

"Relationships always end whether it's by divorce, break-up or death," Clay pointed out with calm logic.

Gemma tossed the make up wipe in the trash and turned to face Clay, her face flushed with anger.

"He's gone through so much; he doesn't need to add a broken heart to everything."

"He's a grown man," Clay said. It was something he said often to Gemma.

"Well, whatever," Gemma said. "I told her that as Jax's old lady, she needed to be prepared to take over as the president's old lady when he becomes president. I offered her old lady lessons."

Clay laughed.

"Old lady lessons? Damn Gemma, she isn't going to be Queen of England."

Gemma's eyes darkened with fury and she put her hands on her hips. Clay never understood all she did as the president's old lady. He thought everything just magically got done from keeping the fridge stocked in the clubhouse to keeping the clubhouse clean to keeping the crow-eaters in line.

"I work my ass of for the MC."

"Thank you," Clay said mockingly.

She didn't know what the hell was wrong with people. They were not appreciating her for all her hard work. She should just not do anything for the club this week, so he would see how things went to hell without her. Clay could really be a bastard when he wanted.

"That blonde whore told me that she didn't need old lady lessons and she would figure it out as she went along. She turned down my offer."

"I'm sure you made it in the spirit of good will. I'm sure you didn't make it hoping to get closer to her so you could sabotage her relationship with Jax."

"Of course not."

"Gemma," he said in a low growl of warning.

"OK. OK. Maybe I didn't have the best intentions in my offer. She still needs to learn how to be a president's old lady."

"Do you really think she's going to be around that long?" Clay asked skeptically. "I'm not planning on going anywhere for at least three years. This new gun business with the Mayans is going to give us a nice fat retirement."

Gemma didn't think Scarlett would be around that long, but she didn't want her to be around now and that's what was important. She wanted the little blonde bitch gone from Jax's life. Now.

"What matters is she didn't want my help after I was so gracious with my offer."

"Maybe she's not as dumb as you think she is," Clay speculated. "Maybe she knows you are only trying to get close to her because you want to destroy her relationship with Jax."

"Whether she figured that out or not, she should have accepted my offer of help."

"Why? So you can break her and Jax up? She seems nice enough. You're still mad that she took care of Jax when he got shot. Get over it. It's done."

"She's tricked you just like she has Jax. She's bad for him and it isn't going to end well."

"Is there any girl in the world that you would be OK with her being with Jax?"

"Wendy's death and that whole baby thing has made him vulnerable," Gemma said ignoring Clay's question. "I don't like her."

"That doesn't give you the right to interfere. Butt out. He's more focused with her than when he's out chasing after girls for a place to park his dick for the night."

Gemma was proud of Jax's ability to charm and get girls. It reflected well on her. He was too young to get tied down to one girl. She'd tried to tell him that marrying Wendy was a mistake and she'd been right there of course.

"You don't understand. I created him. I grew him inside my body. I know what's best for Jax."

"You will push him away if you try to get him to choose. Just let it run it's course. He'll get tired of her and move on. He's like his old man. How long was he faithful to you?"

Gemma scowled at Clay. She didn't need to have Clay remind her about JT's numerous infidelities. It wasn't her fault. She'd done everything she could think of to keep him from straying. They had just married too young and he wasn't the faithful type. It was a fact she didn't figure out until after they were married.

"You don't need to remind me," Gemma said coldly.

"You cheated too."

"Only with you."

"Come to bed, Gemma. It's getting late. As long as Jax doesn't act like Juice when he's in love by walking into walls, butt out and let him have a life."

Gemma slipped into bed. She loved Clay. She really did. He just didn't understand a mother's need to protect her son.

"

Next: Jax and Scarlett talk love and murder. Jax unexpectedly finds himself in the doghouse with Scarlett.

Author's Note: In this story, there is no Thomas. Why JT changed and wrote his manuscript about how SAMCRO lost its way isn't because a child of his died or he didn't want SAMCRO to sell guns. Eventually, Jax will find JT's manuscript and he'll discover how his father really died and why.
