Little Toy Bikers and a Woman on the Run

"

Chapter 432 Dog House

"

Jax was looking into the rear view mirror of the minivan.

"Are we being followed?"

"No," he said, pulling the minivan off the road. "I have to tell you something."

Scarlett looked at Jax suddenly worried. Before she could say anything, his lips were on hers and he was giving her a kiss designed not to just melt her bones but to turn her brain into mush. Long, deep and slow. A flawless kiss.

As he pulled away after several minutes, Scarlett opened her eyes and looked deeply into his blue eyes. She could see the depth of his love for her. He didn't complete her. That was a ridiculous pathetic statement. She was complete on her own with or without him.

She'd just been living her life in this smoggy, foggy haze. He'd blown the smog/fog out of her life, woke her up from the life she was napping through and now her life was vibrant and colorful. Her love for him and his love for her flowed through her body.

"You are my perfect woman."

Scarlett was silent. Her brain was still trying to work after that brain scrambling kiss. Jax pulled the van back onto the road and returned to driving them to the lake house.

"Tell me you love me and then you tell me you have a plan to kill someone," Jax said chuckling. "I don't think it gets better," Jax said.

"I guess I should have left more of a pause between the two."

"It was perfect," he said with a grin.

"What is your plan?" Scarlett asked.

"Hunt him down and kill him. Standard plan."

"My plan is more elaborate. You use his father to get to him. He goes to a couple of his son's exes and tells them that Esai needs to get away and he's got money for him and for her if she helps. If someone's helping him, I bet it's an ex."

"Motivate her by giving her a reward if she finds him."

"Not finds. Meets. She arranges a meet anywhere he wants. In the middle of a mall, at a park, at the post office. Doesn't matter. She gives him some money, a passport and a phone. There's a GPS tracker in the money clip and passport. For her to get her money, he has to call a number taped on the phone and confirm he got the money. You need to do the call to keep the ex from ripping off the money and than saying she gave it to Esai."

"Smart. He can control where the meet is and he'll think that's where the trap is. He'll dump the phone thinking either the trap is at the meeting and it failed or it's in the phone and he's dumped it. He won't be expecting trackers in a money clip and passport."

"If you don't know anyone to do the passport, I do. The guy does an average to below average job, but you're not going to use him for any real work. He'll put the trackers in for you. I've got some other sources for good documents. The ones we're using now were done by a guy who retired from the documents section of the CIA where he did nothing but provide fake documents. He's an underground legend. It's taken my father years to find him. He is also selective about who he works for."

"Damn, Scarlett," Jax said shaking his head. "You and your father have serious skills."

"We've been doing it a long time."

"I like your plan," Jax said. "We'll be able to make sure we choose a time and place without witnesses."

"You could give him an overdose of heroin and coke mixed with fentanyl. Leave him with a couple of doses, so it looks like he is beginning to use the drug."

"It's an overdose. No investigation. We may want his death to be ruled a killing. Everyone in our world will know we were responsible and why. Something for the MC to decide. That's a damned good plan."

"I've been thinking of one since he shot you."

"Death for the man who tried to kill me but not for the man who killed your sister."

"You can't go to the police. Outlaws can't go to the cops or the outlaw society collapses. That's why you kill rats even if they are inside your clubhouse and the rat benefits your MC. I want Violet's killer caught. I think he's a serial killer and she's not his first victim. Families may have a loved one who disappeared and if he tells the name and where he left her body, it could help those people heal."

"That's a very kind way of thinking."

"Kindness for those left behind. It's what I'd want someone to do for me. I want Violet's killer to reveal everything. I'm not one of those earnest people who say prison is so awful he'll never have a moment of happiness. I know her killer will enjoy some moments of happiness in prison. They get to buy food and even ice cream and can have TVs in their cells. His life won't be a living hell, but no one else will be killed. A higher power can see to his ultimate punishment."

"You're right about prison. Opie didn't enjoy his time, but it wasn't this endless hell. I think your plan works if we can get an ex to find him for us. I think we should do it. I'll tell the MC Monday at the afternoon meeting. Of course, I'm not mentioning it was your plan."

"I prefer to keep my outlaw skills a secret anyway," she said smiling. "It isn't going to be quick. The guy who does the passport can usually turn things around in two or three days and charges $1000 for each one. He charges $50 for each GPS tracker depending on where you want him to put it."

"That's not too long. Give Alvarez time to contact Esai's exes and get them looking and putting the word out."

"I just want him dead before anyone else gets hurt."

"You are one hell of an old lady," Jax said with admiration in his voice.

That was the moment when Scarlett felt like she was more than Jax's girlfriend. She was his partner.

"Gemma offered me lessons."

Jax burst into laughter.

"Gemma thinks she's queen of the town."

"I declined her offer. Told her I'd figure it out. She hates me but is currently pretending to like me."

"You've got my mother. Tara was like the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. Tara fell for whatever trap Gemma was setting. I'd try to warn her, but she would always insist that this time Gemma really wanted to help her. Gemma never wanted to help Tara. She just wanted to sabotage her. For someone so smart, Tara could be dumb about some things."

"Young, naïve and trying desperately to get Gemma to like her," Scarlett said. She wasn't defending Tara, she was speaking the truth.

"Maybe I'm not being completely fair to Tara," Jax admitted. "I hadn't seen Gemma as clearly then as I see her now."

"Maybe as time goes on your mother will change her attitude."

"My mother prides herself on never changing," Jax said.

"Well, I won't let her sucker me into believing that she's changed like she did Tara."

"I have a confession," Jax said. "I stole something from your van and I'm not giving it back."

"What did you take?"

"Some of your SpongeBob band aids."

"And where would they have been used?" she asked tartly.

"Happy who went under the hay truck. Sack got one of the nurses to put them on him."

"He doesn't know?"

"No."

"Hmmm . . . I seem to remember you didn't have a happy reaction when I did it to you. Seems like I got into trouble. Now you take the band aids and get Sack to put them on your poor friend who had been at death's door. When I did it, you weren't that hurt. And you punished me. I will never forget that."

"You thought the SpongeBob band aids were funny. It was funny to the little kid and to me later. It was funny when you realized I knew and you were in trouble. There was a lot of fun with SpongeBob. I just wanted to share the fun with Happy and the guys. We took pictures of Happy with us. It was great."

"Damn. I wish I'd thought of the pictures. Can you explain why in detail it was wrong when I did it and OK when you did it? Actually more than OK because you got the other guys involved."

"Because it was funny when we did it to Happy. I thought it was funny when you did it to me. I just didn't want you to know because it would encourage you. I had to punish you to keep you from getting completely out of hand. It was for your own good."

Scarlett nodded, her eyes narrowed as she looked at Jax.

"Just you wait, Jax Teller, I'm going to get you back for punishing me and then doing worse to poor Happy. You are seriously in the doghouse with me."

"Woof. Woof," Jax said.

Scarlett didn't know what she was going to do, but when she thought of something, she was going to do it.
