Chapter 444 Stirring Up Gemma

"

Clay waited until bedtime to tell her about Jax, Tig and respect for Scarlett. She was going to find out sooner or later and he needed her to be thinking the right way about what happened.

Gemma was sitting up in bed floral pillows behind her back. He'd given Gemma a free hand to decorate as she saw fit. As long as the bed was comfortable, he didn't care how the bedroom looked.

He had never been able to decide if the bedroom was done in early old lady or old fashioned whore house with that burgundy and pink floral bedspread, the dark, heavy furniture and the velvet drapes. It definitely had a gothic feel to it that he didn't mind.

For now, his strategy with SAMCRO was simple. It came down to keeping Jax happy for awhile. If Jax's plan to kill Esai worked, it would build confidence in him as a leader. That would be fine as long as Jax was content to be vice-president. Part of keeping Jax happy was getting Gemma to accept Jax's new old lady. As long as Jax and Gemma were close, Jax would be less likely to challenge him for control of SAMCRO because it would effect his mother's standard of living.

The problem was going to be getting Gemma to loosen her grip on Jax. She'd waged a nonstop campaign against Wendy. She was a junkie. He knew eventually Jax would see how her drug problem was destroying her life and was threatening to destroy his life and dump her.

He hadn't bothered to warn Gemma off interfering in Jax's marriage. Jax hadn't seemed to care about Gemma's attacks on Wendy. He didn't do a lot of defending her when he discovered her crank use wasn't occasional.

Scarlett was different. She wasn't a junkie and Jax seemed to really care for her. Gemma needed to just let the relationship run its course. He was an adult for God's sake and it was natural for him to want to live his life without his mother's interference. Getting Gemma to understand that trying to destroy Jax's relationship could end up ruining her relationship with her son.

It was time for Gemma to face life and the reality that Jax was a grown man and not a child who needed his mommy. Gemma was overbearing and controlling with Jax. Sooner or later, he was going to rebel hard. Clay didn't want that to extend to the club and challenging him as president.

"So, when were you going to tell me?" Gemma asked. "Of course I know about Jax and Tig fighting."

"Who told you?"

"I happened to look out the window."

At TM, there was a window in the office that looked out on the garage. On more than one occasion, Clay had thought about painting it over. Sometimes Gemma saw too much.

"Tig made a comment about Jax and Scarlett that Jax didn't like. Tig was out of line and apologized to Jax."

Gemma stared at Clay as if she couldn't have heard him right.

"Tig apologized to Jax?"

"He was out of line. I told him to make it right with Jax."

"See? Scarlett is already causing trouble. That little tramp is no good for Jax."

Clay walked over to the bed in navy blue boxers and a SAMCRO T-shirt and sat down on the bed facing Gemma.

"If you call her a tramp in front of Jax, you won't like the consequences. He told the guys tonight that Scarlett is to be treated with the same respect they show you."

Clay waited for the explosion. It only took until the words were out of his mouth.

"Treat her with the same respect as me?" Gemma raised her voice. "That blonde whore hasn't done a damned thing to have earned that respect. I've put in years for SAMCRO."

"She's his old lady and he's the VP. What he wants isn't out of line especially if she's going to replace you one day." Clay knew he was stoking Gemma's anger, but it was better that she hear the news from him and get the anger out of her system.

"He's so blinded by her pussy he isn't thinking straight," Gemma sputtered. "That little slut. She's bad for him. She's going to break his heart."

"Gemma, he's not a heartsick teen with his first love. If she breaks his heart, he'll get over it. He's a man. Heartbreak is part of life. You have to quit treating him like he's a kid," Clay said rapidly losing his patience with his wife.

"He's my baby. My only son. I know what's best for him."

"You need to stay the fuck out of his relationship with Scarlett," Clay said patience lost. "Treat him like a man because that's what he is," he said raising his voice.

"He's my boy."

Clay stood up and grabbed Gemma by the ankles and pulled her down onto the bed so her head hit the mattress. He climbed on top of her.

"You're my old lady and you need to obey me. Stay out of it."

Nothing like a fight with Gemma to get the juices flowing for both of them.
