Chapter 448 Private Investigator
It was David Hale's day off, but he was hard at work in the spare bedroom he used as an office.
There was an oak desk, a couple of chairs upholstered in blue and a big desk chair also in blue. On three walls were framed posters of film noir movies including L.A. Confidential the movie he'd watched with Scarlett . On the fourth wall was a large map of Charming and the surrounding area. He was working at the map carefully putting a large red dot where bodies of young women had been discovered.
He had a red dot for Violet and another for the young unidentified woman found by the kids playing in the woods. Another red dot was for Jennifer Spring, a young college student whose body had been dumped in a ditch not far from where Violet had been found. There was also a red dot for Sally Swinson a hooker and two more dots for young women still unidentified. Six women in total had been killed and discarded in the last six months that he knew about.
He knew there were more missing women that no one had bothered filing a missing person's report on. It hit his soft side to think about a woman or anyone for that matter who could disappear and not one person cared enough to report it to the police.
Louise was still missing and all of Hale's cop instincts told him she was dead killed by the same person who had killed the six young women. The bodies were all found outside Charming. That prevented him from officially investigating, but it didn't stop him from collecting information. When he had enough, he hoped to convince the surrounding towns and counties to form a task force and work together to find the killer.
Even with a task force, a serial killer wouldn't be easy to find especially since all the CSI shows had educated criminals about DNA. The killer had been clever discarding the bodies outside where DNA could blow away or get contaminated. Still all of it would take was a piece DNA and the person being in the national DNA database to solve the killings.
David wondered how many more young women would have to die before there was a break in the case and the killer was brought to justice.

Author's Note
It's been a rough week or so. My computer died. Thank you very much HP. Guess what brand I'm not buying again? HP. I also had an accident that left me very bruised, battered and with a concussion. My brain's still a little scrambled so I won't be posting as often until my brain fog lifts. Oh and did I mention I won't buy HP again?
