Act III, Scene 1

Kitt was surprised someone had attempted to kill Michael, suggesting it might be someone connected to their last assignment. Michael discounted that theory immediately since there was only one person who knew exactly where they were going: Marta. And so they went back to Dr. Quinlin's apartment.

Michael knocked on the door, and Marta opened it. Before he could say anything, though, Michael realized Marta had a bruise on her forehead and a swollen lip. She explained that two men had shown up right after Michael left, demanding to know where he was going and refusing to leave without an answer.

Michael was not entirely mollified. He told Marta that he considered Devon like a father. Marta assured him she felt the same way about Dr. Quinlin. Michael left Marta to continue his investigation, still not entirely sure whose side she was on.

Act III, Scene 2

That evening, Hower was back at the Foundry, supervising the work on the Juggernaut. Technicians had done as Nordstrom ordered: added more armor and added an explosive tip to the battering ram. However, their tests of the explosive tip were not successful, something Hower knew would displease Nordstrom.

Therefore, he was already upset when he received a phone call telling him that Michael had escaped the tunnel trap. And surprised to learn what Kitt had done.

Act III, Scene 3

Michael finally returned to the vault where the Cernium 116 was being stored. He was disappointed to find neither Devon nor a message from his boss. He was staring at the vault, hoping for some inspiration when he heard a voice behind him. It was Bonnie, who had just arrived with the Home Office. Devon had arranged for Bonnie to have palm print access to the vault. Michael shared his concerns, and Bonnie reassured him that Devon just had a lot on his mind. Michael wasn't entire convinced, as Devon often had a lot going on and had never just disappeared like this. However, at Bonnie's urging, he agreed to give Devon until noon tomorrow. And then he left the vault.

Act III, Scene 4

While Michael was in the vault, Kitt was outside. Just like earlier at Thortex, two car thieves showed up. In fact, they were the same two car thieves. At first, they were interested in Kitt, but then realized he was the same car from earlier. They made some derogatory comments about Kitt. Kitt was insulted, and he told them that he was more impressive than they realized.

That interested the car thieves, as a security system could be valuable, more valuable than the car itself. They tried to break in, but Kitt's defenses were – as always – too much for them. And then the icing on the cake: the Street Avenger showed up, driving them away. He faded into the darkness just as Michael approached Kitt.

Michael had decided to start tracking down any and all of Devon's contacts in Chicago now rather than waiting any longer. Kitt noted there were a lot of them, and it might take all night. Michael hoped it wouldn't but was prepared to do whatever it took to find his boss. His friend.

Act III, Scene 5

Hower had told Nordstrom about how Michael Knight escaped their trap. Nordstrom, intrigued and also concerned about Michael and Kitt throwing a monkey wrench in his plans, had done some research. He had learned the most important thing: Kitt had a bullet-proof shield that no one person knew the formula for, but that Devon knew two of the three parts.

Nordstrom confronted Devon, who acknowledged he knew two parts. And since that would only be part of the formula, knowing two parts wouldn't help Nordstrom recreate it. Nordstrom, however, had no interest in recreating the MBS formula. He wanted to neutralize it. And for that, he only needed to know part of the formula.

Nordstrom and Dr. von Furst stood next to him with various torture implements. But Devon wasn't fazed, as he calmly stated that he had a high threshold for pain. Nordstrom would have loved to test the limits of Devon's threshold but didn't have the time. So instead, he used a new truth serum. It did have a side effect of sometimes causing irreversible brain damage. But, as Nordstrom told Devon, he was willing to take that risk to get what he wanted.

Act III, Scene 6

First thing the next morning, Michael – having had no luck in tracking down Devon – showed up at Thortex. The receptionist called Jim Hower, but Michael refused to wait for him. He punched out the guard and then took the elevator up to the floor where Thortex was located.

Evading the guards on that floor, he found Nordstrom. Even with his mechanical arm, though, Nordstrom was no match for Michael, who overpowered him. Michael continued his search. To his surprise, he found Devon. Or at least a man who looked and sounded like Devon. He was taken in by the imposter.

Nordstrom made Devon watch from the window as his friend and his doppelganger departed Thortex together.
