A/N: And now, for the shortest chapter in this story. Still, I'm fine with short chapters so long as they're not a sentence or two long like this other one-shot story that's out there.

It was another evening at UA as Deku and Todoroki hung out in the former's dorm. Neither one of them had any special plans, but they didn't need any, either. Sometimes, the mere fact that they were together was enough for them.

"So Deku, tell me…"

"Yes?"

"Why did you want to become a hero?"

"Well, I've always admired heroes, but one day, I happened upon this video of All Might saving people in a chaotic situation, and it was from that day forward that I decided that the thing I wanted to do most in this world was to become a hero. I watched that video more times than I can remember. What about you?"

"For me, it wasn't so much that I wanted to become a hero as my father was pretty much forcing me to, but you pretty much knew that story by now. As time went by, however, and especially after I fought you at the Sports Festival, I discovered that I could become a hero not because I had to, but because I wanted to. I know I tell you a lot about how the Sports Festival meant so much to me, but really, Deku, you did more for me that day than anyone has done in my entire life."

"Shoko, it doesn't matter to me that you're repeating that over and over. As a matter of fact, I like when you keep bringing that sort of thing up because it keeps giving me that drive to become a hero. Actually, while we're on this subject, there was something else I wanted to share with you…"

Todoroki smiled. "Do tell me."

"After the Paranormal Liberation War, there was a time when I not only questioned why I wanted to become a hero, but whether becoming a hero was even worth it. Then, all of you came back to convince me to come back to UA, but you especially stood up for me against that angry mob, and…well I…after that, I found that my desire to become a hero was renewed. Thank you so much, Shoko."

By now, Deku was forming tears in his eyes, much to Todoroki's concern:

"Deku, don't cry!"

"I'm not crying because I'm sad; I'm just so happy that I got to know you!"

Todoroki smiled. "Oh Deku, come here, honey!"

Todoroki gave Deku a big hug, which he gladly returned. No matter what, they were going to become heroes, and they were grateful that they had each other to remind them of why they wanted to become heroes.

Criticism is gold. Negativity and nitpicking are pyrite.
