A/N: As this fic nears the conclusion of its second year of continuous updates, I have an announcement: based on the number of ideas I have for this fic, I predict that this will last until August of this year unless anyone else here gives me requests. I have a request from Luiggi 22, but I'm saving that one for the very end. In the meantime, keep enjoying what I have to offer!
Once again, another day of classes had concluded at UA, and once again, Deku and Todoroki used it as an excuse to spend time with each other.
"Phew, those were some of the toughest classes I've ever had!" said Todoroki. "I wonder how anyone manages to put up with those."
"But you're doing your best, right?" said Deku.
Todoroki smiled and averted her gaze. "Yeah, I guess…"
"Well, I'm doing my best, too, and it's not just because I wanna become the world's greatest hero, but also because I wanna become the greatest hero for the one woman I love the most!" Deku gave a thumbs-up.
"Oh, Deku!"
Todoroki wrapped an arm around Deku and was about to kiss him when…
"Hey Midoriya! Hey Todoroki!"
Deku and Todoroki broke away from each other and turned to see who'd addressed them: Mashirao Ojiro.
"Hey Ojiro!" Deku waved at Ojiro. "What's on your mind?"
"I was wondering: would either of you like to come to my dorm and play some board games with me?"
"We'd love to!" said Todoroki.
Deku gave a thumbs up. "Yeah!"
Later on, Deku and Todoroki were at Ojiro's dorm, where he had a bunch of board games laid out, mainly classics such as Parcheesi and Sorry!
"So, do either of you have any preferences?" asked Ojiro.
Deku shrugged. "Not really."
"Why don't we play Monopoly?" said Todoroki. "That's always been one of my favorites."
"OK, Monopoly it is!"
Ojiro set up a basic Monopoly board, electing to be the banker. He chose the shoe token, while Todoroki chose the dog and Deku chose the car. Each of them rolled the dice to determine who would go first, starting with Ojiro, who rolled 8. Deku rolled 7, and Todoroki rolled 7 as well, so Deku rolled again. He got a 3, so in order from first to last, it was Ojiro, Todoroki and Deku. Ojiro rolled a 5, so he landed on Reading Railroad, which he bought for $200. Todoroki rolled two fives for a total of 10, so not only did she land on the "JUST VISITING" spot, but she got to roll again, this time getting double threes for a total of 6 and landing on St. James' Place, which she bought for $180. On her third roll, she rolled a 5, so she ended up at Kentucky Avenue, which she bought for $220.
"Wow Todoroki, you've got us all beat so far," said Ojiro.
Todoroki smiled. "I guess I just got lucky!"
Deku smirked. "Well, let's see how far your luck takes you!"
Deku rolled a 7, so he ended up at the first Chance Card spot, which he drew from.
"Your building loan matures. Collect $150." Deku smiled. "Nice!"
After that, Ojiro rolled a 10, ending up at another railroad, namely Pennsylvania Railroad, which he bought without hesitation. The game only heated up from there, with all three participants trying to buy up as much property as they feasibly could. Eventually, Todoroki's luck began reversing when she ended up going to Jail at one point. Then, she ended up landing on Boardwalk, where Deku had two houses. Unfortunately, she didn't have enough to pay the $600 for the rent, so she ended up getting "creative", to say the least.
"ALL RIGHT, NOBODY MOVE!" Todoroki pointed a finger gun at Deku and Ojiro. "THIS IS A HOLDUP!"
"Todoroki, what are you doing?" asked Ojiro.
Todoroki pointed her "gun" at Ojiro. "YOU, GIMME ALL THE MONEY!"
Ojiro frowned. "Todoroki, you can't rob the bank. That's cheating."
"SHUT UP AND EMPTY THE SAFE!"
"Todoroki, stop doing this."
"I SAID SHUT UP AND EMPTY THE SAFE! I'M NOT PLAYING AROUND!"
Deku put a hand on Todoroki's shoulder. "Um…Shoko, you're embarrassing yourself! Why don't you just forfeit?"
Todoroki pointed her "gun" at Deku. "YOU, SHUT UP BEFORE I BLOW YOUR BRAINS OUT!"
Ojiro sighed. "Midoriya's right. Todoroki, if you can't be polite, I'm afraid you're going to have to forfeit the game."
Todoroki pointed her "gun" at Ojiro and opened her mouth to yell something else, but the words died in her throat, and she lowered her "weapon" before smiling awkwardly.
"Sorry, Ojiro!" Todoroki rubbed the back of her head. "I can get pretty carried away when playing games sometimes!"
"It's all right; I've had worse things done to me."
In the end, Deku ended up bankrupting Ojiro, so he won.
"Well-played, Shoko and Ojiro!"
"Well, to be honest, I'm not the best Monopoly player ever, but I have fun anyways," said Ojiro. "So, do we want to play again?"
"Actually, why don't we play Risk next?" asked Todoroki.
Ojiro smiled. "Sure!"
Deku and Todoroki assisted Ojiro in putting away the game board and other accessories for Monopoly before they set up Risk.
"Hey Ojiro…"
"Yes, Todoroki?"
"Thanks for inviting Deku and I over to your dorm! I enjoy board games regardless, but what's really nice about this is that I get to hang out with somebody I don't usually hang out with."
"I actually like hanging out with you too. Even if I could never hope to be a main player like you, Midoriya or Bakugo, I don't care about that, because at the end of the day, what really matters to me is that I get to be among people who like me for who I am."
"It's not all about having the best Quirk," said Deku. "I think you have a kind, calm personality, and that's a great asset for a hero."
"Thank you, Midoriya," said Ojiro. "And Todoroki…"
"Yes?"
"I want to tell you how proud I am of how you gained the courage to open up about your true colors to all of us. When you broke down crying, I wanted to cry, too. That was probably the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen in my life."
"Awww, you're so sweet!"
Todoroki gave Ojiro a hug, which he gladly returned. Even if he wasn't used to a woman being so affectionate with him, he liked her well enough, and he greatly appreciated the gesture. Similarly, Todoroki appreciated Ojiro letting her do this for him. Before her big reveal, she could never have conceived of such a thing, but because of Deku, she found great joy in hugging people. Soon enough, she let go.
"Thank you, Todoroki."
"You're welcome, Ojiro! Say, mind if I ask you a question?"
Ojiro nodded. "Go ahead."
"How are you and Hagakure doing?"
Ojiro's look turned more serious. "What do you mean?"
Todoroki smirked. "I mean, you two are…you know, right?"
Ojiro blushed and made a gentle pushing motion. "Oh no, we're just friends."
Todoroki leaned in a bit closer to Ojiro. "Oh, are you?"
Deku gently tugged on Todoroki's arm. "Um, Shoko…why don't we go set up Risk?"
Todoroki giggled. "As you wish, honey!"
Ojiro, Deku and Todoroki proceeded to set up Risk, making some more happy memories in the process, memories that were possible thanks to Deku's kindness.
Criticism is gold. Negativity and nitpicking are pyrite.
