A/N: In case you forgot, this story has also been uploaded to Archive of Our Own. Granted, it's starting way back from the beginning - kinda like an anime adaptation of a manga - but still, hopefully it'll get more exposure over there.

On this day, Deku and Todoroki were helping set up the dorms for an anniversary party that was being held in their honor. While Todoroki was confused as to why everyone would be celebrating their anniversary, she nevertheless felt warmth in her heart knowing that everyone cared enough about her and Deku to celebrate them like that. While she was helping to set up, something caught her attention, so she alerted Deku to it.

"Hey Deku, what's Sero doing over there?"

"Not sure. Why don't we go ask him?"

Deku and Todoroki went over to Hanta Sero, who was setting up some sort of equipment.

"Hey Sero, what's all this for?" asked Todoroki.

"This? This is my DJ setup."

"You're playing music for the party?"

Sero continued connecting some cables into his DJ mixer. "Of course! I brought my entire vinyl collection for this one!"

"You never told us you were into collecting records," said Todoroki.

"I collect music in a lot of old formats: records, tapes…even wire!"

"Wire?" Deku tilted his head.

"Yeah, it was awesome! Before they had analog tape, they used to record music on special magnetized wire!"

Deku smiled. "Fascinating!"

"May we try out your DJ setup?" asked Todoroki.

"Sure! Just let me get everything plugged in first…"

Sero plugged in some cables and turned on the DJ setup – two Technics SL1200 turntables connected to a Behringer DX2000 mixer – letting it warm up a little.

"OK, so basically, here's how it works: This mixer here is connected to two turntables. You can have it hooked up to three turntables or even two CD players, but that's a story for another time. The main part of the mixer is this crossfade lever right here, which allows you to fade between the two turntables. These knobs up here allow you to adjust the bass, mid, treble and volume of each sound source, and these sliders below them allow you to further adjust the volume of each source. This meter here shows you the sound level of the current source. Don't let it clip into the red zone. Got all that?"

Deku nodded. "I think so…"

Todoroki stroked her chin. "Looks complicated, but I think I can manage it."

"Great!" said Sero. "Just pick a record and get started!"

Todoroki rifled through one of the boxes of records before pulling out a 7" single of "Pásky Z Cívek Odvíjím" b/w "Jen Dál A Víc A Líp" by Petr & Pavel ORM. She put the record on the left turntable, also putting down the adapter for 7" records, turned it on and put the needle down. Unfortunately for her, the record made no sound.

"Why isn't this working?"

"Oh, the crossfader is all the way to the right. Here, let me do it…"

Sero slid the crossfader to the left, and the record's sound came in, playing the A-side. Todoroki eagerly bopped her head to the funky beat.

"I like this song!" she said.

"It's definitely a catchy one!" said Deku.

"Glad you two like it!" said Sero.

"Hmmm…I wonder what song I should pick next…"

Todoroki flipped through the records during the song. In doing so, she saw a lot of stuff she'd never seen before, so it was difficult for her to pick one. Eventually, she settled on "No Parking (On the Dance Floor)" by Midnight Star, which she put on next. Rather than being content to merely let the song play as is, however, she decided to mess around with some of the knobs near the top of the deck and alter the various frequencies of the song. She ended up cutting out everything but the drums and the bass.

"Wow, that's interesting!" she said.

"Hey, Shoko, may I give it a try?" asked Deku.

"Sure!"

After resetting the frequencies, Deku put on another record, "Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)" by Hashim. Todoroki was really getting into this one:

"Ooh, this is catchy!"

"Yeah!"

Sero smiled as he watched the two of them dancing to the beat. After they played a few more records, they decided to call it quits for now.

"Good stuff, guys!" Sero gave a thumbs up. "With some more practice, you two could become real mixmasters!"

Deku smiled. "I definitely could! I mean, I'm not familiar with all of the songs in your collection, but you've got plenty of good stuff!"

"Yeah, where do you get all of it?" asked Todoroki.

"From random sources, usually from thrift stores or from Discogs."

Todoroki tilted her head. "What's 'Discogs'?"

"So basically, it's a website that not only catalogs every record, tape, CD or whatever that an artist put out or appeared on, but you can also buy music from there. For example, if you wanted to buy a German pressing of a Gloria Gaynor album, you can totally do that!"

Todoroki smiled and put her hands on her cheeks. "Well, that sounds like my kind of website, because I LOVE foreign music!"

"I'll have to check it out too," said Deku. "In the meantime, thanks for letting us play with your DJ setup, Sero!"

"You're always welcome, you two!"

Deku and Todoroki smiled, eagerly looking forward to wherever else their musical journey would take them.
