Deku and Todoroki were finished with yet another day of classes at UA, not only happy to have survived them, but to have each other in the process. It not only gave them something to look forward to at the end of each day, but also strengthened their bond that much more.
"Hey Deku, do you mind if I ask you something?"
"What's up, Shoko?"
"So, I recently discovered something called 'pinball', and there's this pinball museum/arcade not far from UA. Wanna go with me?"
"Of course! I'd love to go with you!"
"Excellent!"
The place that Deku and Todoroki went to was called Musutafu Pinball Museum and Arcade, built out of a converted office building. It was similar to Daiki's Arcade in that it had a multitude of pinball tables and that for a flat fee of 1,000 yen, one could play all the pinball machines they wanted for free. However, it was more than that. Not only did it have pinball machines from the 50s up until the present day, but it also had one-off prototypes and unique machines such as a Star Trek one that was signed by William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Nichelle Nichols, George Takei and Walter Koenig. After Deku and Todoroki paid their money, they were taken on a little tour of the place, which also included some conventional arcade games, a function room for private parties and also a record player with a small record collection.
(I'll have to donate some records here,) thought Deku.
Once the tour was finished, Deku and Todoroki looked around to see what machine they should do first. Todoroki eventually decided on a machine called Wizard, a machine from the 70s whose cabinet art showed a guy who looked vaguely like Roger Daltrey from The Who. Deku chose another machine from the 70s called Captain Fantastic, presumably inspired by Elton John.
"So Deku, wanna compete to see who can get the higher score?"
Deku chuckled. "You're on!"
Deku and Todoroki started their respective tables, and the game was on. Within seconds, they were graced with the familiar "bings" and flashing lights of old-school pinball as they hit the flippers in an attempt to score as many points as they possibly could. Since these were older machines, the score counters only had five digits, so once Deku and Todoroki got over 99,999 points, the counters rotated right back to zero. Todoroki managed an amazing score, flipping her score counter three times to 9,350, while Deku only managed to flip it once and get to 23,970.
"Nice showing, Deku. You underestimate how mean of a pinball game I play, though."
Deku smiled. "You're really good. Seriously, how did you do it, though?"
Todoroki giggled. "Oh, I've been here before; practicing!"
"You mean to tell me you played here before?! Bad girl!"
Deku ruffled Todoroki's hair, causing her to giggle some more.
"Stop, you silly!"
Todoroki ruffled Deku's hair back, before they ended up in another snuggly hug.
"So, play some more, you silly green bean?"
"Absolutely!"
Deku and Todoroki went to check out the other pinball machines, hoping to play a meaner game than Tommy.
Criticism is gold. Negativity and nitpicking are pyrite.
