Typically, Todoroki didn't expect to face a villain she couldn't beat. As the #1 Pro Hero, she had her ice and fire powers to combat pretty much any villain, and the years of training she'd put her body through allowed her to use both with incredible power, not to mention she could use her ice for prolonged periods without freezing and her fire for prolonged periods without overheating. Granted, some villains still proved themselves to be tough customers, but even then, she always got the upper hand. This, however, was before she ran into Deadshot.
"Shoko Todoroki, we meet at last!"
YUKI "DEADSHOT" FUJITA:
QUIRK: Deadshot. Allows any projectile fired by the user to strike anywhere they wish. However, the Quirk stops working temporarily if overused.
Todoroki was about to turn around when an errant crossbow bolt struck right between her feet, causing her to jump and turn around. Atop a building, she saw Deadshot, whose costume consisted of an olive green BDU, a black single-hole balaclava, an olive green load-carrying vest with several types of ammo, and black leather combat boots, plus a large crossbow mounted on his right wrist.
"I know you: you're Deadshot, the New Hero Killer!"
"Exactly, and I missed on purpose, Missy! However, the next shot ain't gonna miss!"
"We'll see about that!"
Todoroki ran for a nearby building, and Deadshot fired another crossbow bolt at her. She used her ice in an attempt to block it, but it was an armor-piercing bolt that managed to penetrate the ice, though slowed down enough to prevent Todoroki from getting hit. She managed to get into cover.
(I have to figure out a way to hit him, but considering how accurate he is, I'll probably freeze before I can get to him!)
Todoroki had another problem: not only was Deadshot the most dangerous villain with a crossbow, but he also had a wrist-mounted grappling hook to allow him to traverse rooftops, and he got her back in his sights:
"You can run, but you'll only die tired, Missy!"
Todoroki did indeed run into a nearby building, but it was thanks to her ice powers that she avoided dying tired. However, Deadshot was not one to idly wait for her to exit the building, so he used his grappling hook to swing through one of the windows, where he attempted yet again to force Todoroki to "get the point", as it were. Again, her ice managed to save her, but considering how quick Deadshot was with his grappling hook, she figured her time was limited unless she came up with something more quickly.
"HEAVEN PIERCING ICE WALL!"
Todoroki flooded the entire building with ice.
"That should stop him!"
However, an explosion made it clear that her hope was short-lived as Deadshot once again emerged from the ice.
"You dummy! Do ya really think that ice is gonna stop one of my explosive bolts!? Now it's time ya paid!"
Deadshot loaded another bolt into his crossbow, and that was it for Todoroki…or it would have been had Izuku "Deku" Midoriya not tackled her out of the way.
"What the hell!?" Deadshot dropped his jaw.
"You…you saved my life!" said Todoroki.
"Don't thank me yet. We still need to stop him. Hang on!"
Todoroki had certainly heard of Deku before, but didn't think much of him since he wasn't even in the Top 10. However, considering he dodged Deadshot's bolts as if they were nothing, she had to wonder who the heck was coming up with those rankings. Still, it was interesting seeing the tables turned on Deadshot:
"What the hell are you two doin'!? You ain't supposed to do that! I'M supposed to be the better one!"
No matter how hard Deadshot tried, he just couldn't hit Deku or Todoroki, though more often than not, his bolts came mere centimeters away from both of them.
"Midoriya, I've got a clear shot! FLASHFREEZE HEATWAVE!"
Todoroki fired off another blast of superheated air at Deadshot, which was…well, a dead shot. Deadshot survived, but was clearly crispy and very well incapacitated, and his crossbow and grappling hook had been severely damaged in the blast, enough so they were nowhere near anything that could be described as "functional". Deku and Todoroki went over to him.
"Deadshot, you're under arrest!" Deku removed Deadshot's crossbow and grappling hook before cuffing him.
"You stupid piece of broccoli!" said Deadshot. "If ya hadn't helped her out, then I woulda had her for sure!"
Todoroki smiled. "But you didn't…did you?"
"Shut up, bitch!"
Todoroki frowned. "We can make this even more painful for you if you don't shut up."
Deadshot sighed. "Fine."
Deku picked up Deadshot and hauled him outside.
"How did you know my name anyways, Todoroki?" asked Deku.
Todoroki smiled and shrugged. "I read about you a couple of times, but I can't recall exactly where. Also, call me Shoko."
Deku smiled. "Then call me Deku."
"Also, how did you get us to avoid his shots? No seriously, I wanna know!"
"I have this Quirk called 'Danger Sense'. It allows me to detect enemy attacks and evade them more easily. However, it really only seems to work if someone has pure malice towards me."
"Come on! Ya cheated!" said Deadshot.
Todoroki growled. "You shut up."
Deku and Todoroki headed to meet up with the police, another partnership forged.
Criticism is gold. Negativity and nitpicking are pyrite.
