Prologue: The Vigilante
Rank 18 - Hagakure Tooru
Rank 19 - Mineta Minoru
Rank 20 - Midoriya Izuku
"Well, you heard me. Midoriya, pack your bags. You're leaving."
A tense silence filled the air. Nobody believed that their teacher's threat was real. All eyes focused on the quirkless student, who seemed to be glaring at Aizawa.
Something was wrong. Izuku knew for a fact that he had scored higher than Hagakure and Mineta, so why was it that he was getting expelled?
Oh right. Quirkless. The moment he was born without that gene was the day his life had been signed off. He'd thought U.A. would've been better in their treatment of him, but apparently, Aizawa was as Quirkist as the rest of his former school.
Well, fuck him. Fuck Aizawa, and fuck U.A. He'd joined just because he felt it would help him achieve his dream, but if this was the nonsense he was going to deal with for the next four years, then he'd find another way.
As he turned to leave, he turned around and glared at his teacher, rage curdling in his eyes.
"Eraserhead. I don't know why you hate me so much, but I'll tell you this. Ever since I was a child, I dreamed of saving people, of helping them."
Izuku turned his head away from Eraserhead, intending on getting his things and getting the hell out of U.A.
"I don't care what you tell me, or what you do to me. I will achieve my dream, with or without a license."
And as Izuku exited the gates of U.A, his fate was sealed.
Seven Years Later
Izuku awoke groggily, his mind playing back to the day he'd decided to become a vigilante. Heh. It had been quite a ride from there. Saving his former classmates from the League of Villains in the USJ, stopping the League's terrorist plot in the Sports Festival, defeating the Hero Killer and stopping him from killing the younger Iida brother, saving Bakugou from the League, saving Eri from the Shie Hassaikai, exposing the Meta Liberation Army, stopping Wolfram on I-Island, and a bunch more Izuku was too tired to recollect at the moment. The League of Villains were on their last legs, and Izuku would be damned if he gave up now.
Suddendly, loud music started playing on the device next to him.
Speak of the devil.
Izuku grabbed his burner and answered it.
"Yeah?"
"Deku, it's Dabi. I have Shigaraki's final location. From what I can piece together, he's been experimenting with Kurogiri's warp quirk for some last-ditch solution."
Izuku nodded. "With the heroes chasing after them on one side and me on the other, they're desperate. That makes them far more dangerous. Dabi, do your best to get yourself and Toga out of there. Tsukauchi's waiting for you two in the Sunflower Orphanage."
Dabi scoffed. "And leave you to deal with Shigaraki and all his Nomu? Not happening. I'm not leaving you to do this alone, Deku. And Toga would agree too."
Izuku sighed. Much as he hated it, Himiko and Touya could be quite stubborn when they wanted to be. Something he had learned quite quickly in their childhood at the orphanage.
"If you have a death wish that bad, then fine. I'll be there shortly. We'll have to take care of Shigaraki as quickly as possible."
After hanging up, Izuku went to his closet and put on his clothes. Black sleeveless zippered turtleneck, check. Dark green formal vest, check. Black pants and dark boots covered by green gaiters, check. Finally, a Black coat with light neon green serpentine patterns and three separated coattails with slightly tattered edges, and charcoal gray fingerless gloves, check.
Walking out of his closet, Izuku went to pick up his various harnesses and checked his equipment. His trusty 10mm Zenith Pistol was working just perfectly, he'd sharpened his switchblades yesterday in preparation, and it seems his suppliers had come through for his requests on explosives. The final item to check was a new item, a dart gun. Checking the contents of the gun, Izuku nodded. Everything was ready. Izuku grabbed his menpo, shoved it in his jacket, and headed out the door.
Today was the day that the League of Villains would finally be destroyed.
15 Minutes Later
Izuku entered the ruined building from the roof, his footsteps muffled by the heavy rain that had been pouring all day. He'd doused himself in his personal quirk suppressant mix so that Shigaraki couldn't just use All For One's location-based quirks to find him. Izuku had to hurry. His first encounter against All For One had him overestimating how long his concoction would work, and Shigaraki had been able to find him rather quickly after it wore off. Izuku had almost died from it, a long scar extending from his upper body to his stomach being a rather lurid reminder of that horrific fight.
As Izuku headed downstairs, he could hear Dabi and Shigaraki arguing.
"Shigaraki, face it, it's over! The heroes know our location, and if they're coming, you know who's gonna arrive before them."
Izuku could hear Shigaraki's snarl from the stairs. "That's the point, Dabi! If we can time this right, we can destroy both the heroes and that damned Deku!"
"And you'd have me and Toga arrested or executed just for some hare-brained scheme that might not even work?"
"SHUT UP! Sensei said that with this power, I can accomplish anything! I can't... I can't fail him, not now, not after everything he's sacrificed! Now, shut up and get in line, Dabi, before I decide you're not worth the trouble and separate you from your quirk!"
Coming up now at the door where Shigaraki and the rest of the League were, Izuku decided that now was the time to strike. Taking the dart gun out, Izuku knew he only had one shot. He aimed carefully at Shigaraki's neck from the small window crack and took a small breath.
Izuku fired.
Shigaraki shouted in confusion before his eyes widened. Izuku then charged into the room, heading straight for Shigaraki. Izuku grabbed Shigaraki's arms, before kneeing him in the groin and chokeslamming Shigaraki onto a table. Izuku quickly took out a switchblade and drove it into Shigaraki's left palm. As Shigaraki roared in pain and tried to punch Izuku away, Izuku took out another switchblade and drove that into Shigaraki's right palm. Meanwhile, Toga and Dabi had gotten to work destroying the Nomu Shigaraki had surrounded himself with. Taking out his pistol, Izuku quickly shot six Nomus in the head, halting their movements long enough for Dabi to incinerate them. Breathing heavily, Izuku sat down and listened to Shigaraki rant about how he was going to personally tear them all apart.
Izuku smirked. Shigaraki wouldn't be doing much of anything, not with the dart he'd prepared and saved just for this occasion.
Shigaraki stopped shouting, and had started to try and tug his arm out of the table. It was clear that Shigaraki had tried activating his Spearlike Bones quirk earlier, and was starting to panic that for some reason, he could no longer call on it.
"What...What the hell did you do to me, Deku!"
Izuku chuckled. "Overhaul's Quirk Destroying Drug, while it was created through terrible means, wasn't that bad of an idea, so I made my own. It's not nearly as potent and needed some additional tweaking along with a sample of your DNA to get it to destroy the one quirk I needed it to, but in the end, it seems to be working quite well."
Izuku leaned down over Shigaraki. "How does it feel, asshole? To have all that power, all those quirks, slipping away one by one as your Sensei's last gift is destroyed, by a quirkless freak, no less? I was planning on killing you, but I decided that leaving you to the heroes you hate so much is a far better punishment."
Shigaraki's eyes widened, before he slumped down, defeated. Izuku breathed a sigh of relief.
"It's over." he said, almost disbelieving of the fact that the organization he'd spent seven years hunting down was now destroyed.
Toya grabbed Izuku's shoulder. "Izuku, we gotta go! The heroes'll be here soon!"
Izuku nodded. "Alright, let's get outta here."
Suddenly, an eerie purple glow lit up the room.
"DIE!" Shigaraki roared, before throwing a warp gate at Toya. Izuku, without hesitating for a single moment, ran to Toya and shoved him away, and ended up getting hit by the warp gate.
Pain exploded all over his body, as Izuku was flung back across the room. In a haze of red, Izuku could make out the fact that his body was disintegrating into purple ashes.
So this was how it ends, huh? Shit. Well, at least he'd been able to make significant strides in his dream. He'd saved a lot of people in his life, and with the League of Villains and All For One gone, he'd saved a lot of people in the future too. Maybe he'd be able to rub Eraserhead and All Might on how wrong they'd been about him in the afterlife, or have a good shouting match at his mother and father for abandoning him in an orphanage after he had been revealed as Quirkless.
Izuku Midoriya closed his eyes, and let the void take him.
Liu Kang took a deep breath. Training for his upcoming fight, Liu Kang went through the motions for his basic katas. He didn't know what to expect when he'd joined the Mortal Kombat tournament to represent the Shaolin and protect Earthrealm, but the last thing he had expected was that Raiden, the God of Thunder himself, would come down from the Heavens to fight in the Mortal Kombat tournament. What was even worse was that this Raiden was nothing like the tales his old master, Bo Rai Cho, had told him. It was clear that the Thunder God was arrogant and vain, deciding to fight only because he had wanted to prove his superiority against the pathetic mortals who believed themselves mightier than the gods. Liu Kang was afraid of going against him, but he had a duty to uphold, and he could not fail his Shaolin brothers.
Suddenly, a purple portal opened up, and a man came tumbling out of it. Liu Kang, apprehensive of the newcomer, slowly approached him. The first thing that stood out to Liu Kang was the man's dark green hair. The second was the snarling menpo mask that the man appeared to be wearing. Liu Kang shifted into a fighting stance. He'd seen the two assassins in the tournament earlier, and it wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination to realize that they could've bought reinforcements. The man grabbed a hold of a rail next to him, trying to get up.
"Kuso, soreha itai desu" the man grunted, before noticing Liu Kang. "Anatawa dare desu ka?"
Liu Kang shook his head. He'd spent most of his childhood trying to learn the teachings of the Great Kung Lao. The only other language he'd bothered picking up was English.
"Kuso. Ummm. English?" the man asked hesitantly. Liu Kang nodded. "Yes, I speak English."
The man breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank god. English is the only foreign language I know. Anyways, who are you?"
Liu Kang lowered his fists. It was clear that whoever this was, he was not an assassin. "I am Liu Kang."
The man nodded, before putting out his hand. "Izuku Midoriya. Pleasure to meet you."
Liu Kang shook it. At this point, there was no questioning the madness that was going on.
AN: If you want to imagine Izuku's clothing, just picture Vergil's DMC 5 clothes, but the blue/white parts are replaced with green.
Translation (Don't worry, this is a one time thing. I'm not big on using Japanese or other foreign languages)
"Kuso, soreha itai desu" (Shit, that hurt)
"Anatawa dare desu ka?" (Who are you)
EDIT (12/16): A couple of the AN's for Chapters 1-7 have been modified.
(1/21): Bit embarrassing, but I only just realized that I wiped this chapter with the next one. It's fixed now.
