Let's start with the story, shall we?*
Chapter 2
8 Years later…
The Bakugou family. It was the household in which the talented Bakugou twins were raised. It was the castle where the two similar, yet very different siblings became their own persons, each with their own destination. Yet, getting there was much more effort than one would expect.
"Damn it, Katsuki! How many times have I told you to put away your stupid shoes!" Mitsuki angrily snarled, veins palpitating out from under her skin. Masaru watched his wife lose her temper and paled.
"Shut up, you Old Hag! I was just about to!" Katsuki snapped back at his mother as he angrily stomped downstairs. He was fuming, veins also palpitating out of his skin and had Masaru frown deeply.
"Katsuki. That's… That's not very nice. You shouldn't take that kind of attitude with your Mother-""HUH?!" Katsuki growled at his father, the male paling at his son's frightening reply. He swallowed thickly and scraped up the courage, knowing he couldn't take this standing down.
He turned towards his wife as she washed the dishes. "Sh…shouldn't you say something too, Dear? You know… To Katsuki?" Masaru asked his deep in thought wife. She heard the mumbling of her husband and frowned.
"What did you say?! Speak up, Honey! I'm busy right now!" Mitsuki shouted at her husband, the poor male shrinking back with a shake of his head. It was tough and difficult to be the man of the house.
He walked away with slumped shoulders, eyes travelling upstairs towards one of the rooms. Mizuki was still sleeping in but he highly doubted that it would last. He felt a shiver run down his spine at the thought of the girl being woken up abruptly.
They were all doomed.
He stared in anticipation at the closed doors and swallowed with much difficulty. She was the one who everyone feared the most. They feared the calm before the storm. Luckily, it was something that they rarely saw.
He let out a breath of relief when he saw that there was no movement coming from the room. She was still sleeping or at least at ease. She must've been quite tired out if she slept through the morning shouts from her mother and brother.
He wondered what she had been up to. She locked herself away since early the night and the light to her room had shone even when they went to bed. He recalled hearing the soft humming of the sewing machine and wondered on what she was working on.
"HOWZER IMPACT!"
"BIG MOTHER CRUSH!"
Masaru jumped at the loud yelling of his spouse and child, loud explosions reaching his ear. He took cover behind one of the couches and the two of them battled it out. He had only been in thought for a few moments and now they were breaking down the house?!
When there were strong Quirk users in the family, parent and child arguments became quite troublesome. It was a big problem, since they didn't care what type of furniture or any household items stood in their way.
Stop it, you two! Please! We still haven't paid off our mortgage yet! Masaru shouted in his mind, panic and angst rushing through his system. Not to mention, if you wake up Mizuki, it'll be all over for us!
Speaking of which, a door slowly creaked open and he felt a shiver run down his spine. He hesitantly looked up from his hiding position, Mizuki's bedroom door opened. It was over. They woke her up and now she was going to end them all.
A pair of feet was dragged down the stairs, Mitsuki and Katsuki still clashing and breaking furniture where they fought. The feet stilled at the end of the chairs and had the two freeze up, Mitsuki pulling her son's hear and cheek while Katsuki had his hand palms clasped around her hands.
There was a soft yawn, the teenager starting her pace again and a hand ruffling untidy ash blonde hair. The duo paled as they realized they woke her up and knew that their meaningless fight would get them into trouble.
"M-Morning, M-Mizuki. D-Did you sleep well?" Masaru dared to ask his sleep deprived daughter. She gave him a weak wave, eyes teary and tired as she rubbed them. She walked into the kitchen, not sparing anyone even a single word.
Mitsuki and Katsuki gave each other a look and blinked a few times. The strange behaviour was anti-climactic. Masaru, on the other hand, let out a sigh of relief. The fighting stopped and his little girl wasn't out to murder them.
Mizuki was tired. No, exhausted. She yawned once again, hands rubbing her eyes in annoyance at the tears that formed. She blinked away the blurry vision, pulling on her glasses that rested on her head when she was unable to do so.
She had worked until late and didn't even realize the time until she fell asleep. She woke up with her head resting on her arms and it resulted in her neck and back being stiff. She made a mental note to take a jog when she finished up.
She poured in a cup of coffee, not bothering with adding the milk or the sugar. She needed something strong to wake her up and there was nothing better in this world to do so, than a terribly bitter cup of coffee.
She stopped in the doorway of the kitchen, taking a sip and staring at the trio who were still on the same spots as before. She took in the cracks on the one wall, the broken kitchen table and her father hiding behind the couch.
"Katsuki didn't put away his shoes and had something smart to say again?" Mizuki asked, not even flinching at the bitter taste as she sipped her warm coffee. Mitsuki let go of Katsuki, resulting in the male falling onto the ground.
"Hey!"
"I'm glad to see you're up, Mizuki. Did you work late again last night?" Mitsuki asked, knowing that she heard the sewing machine until she finally found her own sleep. Mizuki let out a sigh and nodded. Plopping down onto the couch.
"Yeah, I didn't even notice the time fly by that quickly. I'm still not finished though. I still have a few finishing touches to do," MIzuki groggily replied and rubbed her dry, tired and reddish eyes beneath her glasses to ease the irritation.
"What the hell were you busy working on? Did you get behind with school work or what?" Katsuki asked, oblivious about her late-night activities. It didn't surprise any of them. After all, once he went to sleep, he slept like a log.
"No, I was finishing up with my sunset dress." Mizuki briefly closed her eyes, hoping the blinking would lubricate her sandy eyes. "I wanted to finish it up before we start with preparing with exams and finally found the opportunity," she replied as Masaru came to sit next to her.
"Sunset dress? Did you finally finish up with the designing on what type of cut you wanted?" Masaru asked Mizuki nodding with a soft smile. He was surprised. She had been very undecisive over the design.
Katsuki scoffed. "She's as undecisive as this Old Bat!" The teenage boy pointed at his mother and received a slap from the female. "Old man! Why the hell did you marry this nagging old woman?!" he asked angrily.
Mizuki gave her brother a disapproving look while Masaru made a dreamy expression as he thought about the past. "Ah, the sweet memories of your mother…" He trailed off with a soft sigh, Katsuki paling.
"Actually, never mind."
Masaru was already trailing off on his own, Mitsuki chuckling as she watched her husband. "That was back when the two of us were still working at the design firm…" Mizuki sat back as she listened while Katsuki made a face of disgust.
"Shut up! I don't want to hear this!" Katsuki shouted and yelped when a piece of wood hit his already bruised head. Mizuki had kicked a plank from the broken coffee table and gave him a warning look.
"I was never good with strong willed women like her, but… Well… She came on really strongly and since I was always on the receiving end of her ferocious flirting… Before I even realized it, we ended up getting married…" He said as Mitsuki sat next to him, both smiling warmly.
"So, you just suck at saying no."
"Oh, shut it, Katsuki. I like it," Mizuki cut off her brother and he scoffed. She looked at her parents, admiring the affection and love they shared. They were polar opposites, but their relationship was as strong as ever.
"Of course, you do! You stupid romantic! You've been flirting and claiming that Shitty Hair since day one of school!" Katsuki pointed out and Mizuki nearly choked on her coffee. She coughed and gave her brother a disbelieving look.
"I have not!"
"Don't come shitting me! I've seen you doing it countless of times! It's disgusting!" Katsuki grimaced and shook his head. "Staring at each other all the time, walking together and holding hands!" He pointed out, Mizuki blushing.
She wanted to bury herself deep underneath the ground. Were they that open? Yes, they occasionally glanced at each other and they walked together since they…they… Since they… She couldn't even come up with an excuse.
"Mmm? Is this that Kirishima fellow we're talking about?" Mitsuki asked, joining into the conversation, much to Mizuki's dismay. "I didn't think you were this serious already. Are you two dating without you even telling us?!" Mitsuki gaped at her daughter.
"No!" Mizuki could feel her face heat up drastically. "I-It's nothing l-like that! W-We've only known each other for a little while!" Mizuki waved her arms in front of her, Masaru shocked at his daughter's flustered behaviour.
"Hah, he hasn't asked you, has he?" Katsuki said with a hug, a smug look on his face. He received another wooden plank to his head, Mizuki clenching her fist tightly as she glared at her brother with menacing red eyes.
"Shut up! Red's a gentleman! I'll have you know that he won't ask me on a whim! He has pride, you know?!" Mizuki told her brother, secretly keeping the emotions hidden in her heart. She was painfully aware that he had many opportunities to ask her out.
Yet, she had a feeling that it would've been too rushed. That, and she knew that he wouldn't ask her out without the permission of her brother. He had too much respect for the ash blonde boy and she respected that decision.
"Why don't you ask him out?" Mitsuki suggested nonchalantly, the trio giving the female blank looks. "What? The old times of boys asking out girls are of the past! I proposed to your father," she added and had Mizuki groan.
"Yeah, but he didn't have the balls to say no." Katsuki received a threatening look from the two females. "What? I'm just stating facts! If he doesn't have the guts to ask you out, then he doesn't deserve you," Katsuki stated curtly, Masaru frowning.
"Maybe that's the reason." Everyone gave him horror-filled looks and he sweat dropped, holding his hands up in surrender. "That's not what I meant. I meant that maybe the reason he hasn't asked Mizuki out yet is because Katsuki doesn't approve," Masaru calmed their nerves.
Katsuki gave him an incredulous look. "That's bullshit! Why do I have to be the reason?!" He yelled, and gave his sister a look, expecting her to back him up. Unfortunately, he didn't receive the support he hoped for.
"Hey, is that true?" Mizuki avoided his gaze and took a sip from her coffee, causing her twin brother to yell. "MizukI! Answer me! Is that true?! Does Shitty Hair not want to ask you out because I don't approve?!" He asked and Mizuki let out a breath.
"No." Katsuki gave his father an 'I told you so' look. "Not exactly." It was countered by his mother. "Ugh, he wants your approval since you're my brother. That's what I'm assuming," she said. There was a tiny part of her that gave her the idea that he didn't want to take it that far…
"Ah, that's a tough one. Katsuki approving anyone for his big sister… My poor baby is going to grow old all by herself… I'm never going to have grandchildren!" Mitsuki dramatically cried and Katsuki gritted his teeth.
"Stop overreacting! I never said that I didn't approve!" He shouted, realizing a little too late what he had said, three pairs of eyes blankly looking at him. He felt his cheeks warm up, his ears tinting soon after.
"I don't care who Mizuki goes out with or not! It's her damn own stupid decision! I'm not her baby sitter!" Katsuki countered, Mitsuki taking the moment to savour the moment. She was going to ride this wave to the end.
"So, if she went out with Midoriya, you'd be alright with that?"
"HAH?! I'll kill that stupid Deku if he ever even thought of it! I'll murder him!" Katsuki shouted angrily, the thought of the green haired nerd and his sister making a hellfire burn from deep within him.
"I see… Mizuki, who was that other boy you talk about the other day?" Mitsuki asked her daughter, a pair of crimson orbs widening. That was a secret! She could feel the colour draining from her face and swallowed dryly.
Mitsuki was the only person who knew that she went to dinner at the Todoroki household. No one, not even her father, knew that she went there. If her brother found out, it would be a catastrophe! She didn't have enough life in her to deal with that.
"What other boy?"
Mitsuki gave her daughter a mischievous gaze and the youngster was quick to catch on what she was doing. "Mom's talking about the internship I spent with Shoto," Mizuki answered, Katsuki staring wide-eyed at his sister.
"Half-and-half bastard?! Since when did you start calling him by his name?!" Katsuki yelled, Mizuki realizing she let her tongue slip in front of her brother. Oh dear. "I knew you two were getting too chummy!" He pointed at Mizuki.
"You started getting tired of Kirishima already and moved on to your next toy, huh?" This had Mizuki seeing red, her temper flaring. "Over my dead body! I'll kill that bastard the next time I see him!" Katsuki threatened and then felt his blood ran cold.
Sparks appeared all over Mizuki's body, her hair flaring up slightly. "You take that back, right now, Katsuki Bakugou." Her voice was calm, filled with a deeper menace and they all knew at the use of his full name, he was in deep trouble.
He could feel the hairs on the back of his neck stand up at the deadly glare she gave him. He resisted taking back a retreating step, sweat trailing down the side of his face. He never saw her this defensive over Eijiro before in his life and it was frightening.
"Whatever… I'm sorry…"
Mizuki relaxed, the danger disappearing as fast as it came. Her parents were surprised to find their daughter protective and very sensitive when it came to her brother's statement. She would usually brush passed it easily and make a light joke about 'loving all her boys'.
This time it was different.
Mitsuki grinned and clapped her hands together. "Now that's settled. Since Katsuki approves of young Kirishima-kun, why don't you invite him over for dinner?" Mitsuki said, her good intentions immediately questioned by the twins.
Mitsuki gave her husband a brief glance and he was quick to nod. "I agree. It would be nice to meet this young boy who made such a feat," he said and Mizuki felt her heart drop in her stomach. Katsuki was in a daze as he came to apprehend that Mitsuki riled him up only to receive the reactions she wanted.
"No, it's fine. You don't have to go that far. Like I said, we're still getting to know each other and I don't want to push-""Hey, stop being so fussy about this. This is that airhead we're talking about. You'll probably have him jumping in joy when you ask him," Katsuki said.
Mizuki looked at her brother. He was honestly okay with everything. She expected him to rebel more and kick against every idea of her and Eijiro. She watched his calm expression and it filled her with ease.
Mizuki averted her eyes to the ground. "I-If I… I-If I invited him over… I-If he agrees… No talking about marriage or having children! Also, no pushing him into anything! I want him to ask me when he's ready." Mizuki pointed accusingly at her mother.
She chuckled and nodded happily. "I won't ask any of the sort! I just want to meet the boy who managed to steal my little girl's heart!" She innocently stated, everyone sceptical. In honesty, she wanted to know what kind of boy this was.
She also expected Katsuki to be against the whole idea, yet, he was showing his approval more openly than she expected. It only meant one thing. This boy made a big impression on both of the twins.
"What does the young man like to eat?" Masaru asked, Mizuki blinking at the question. "Surely we can't invite him over and make something that's not his style." Mizuki rubbed the back of her neck, sheepishly.
"He's…um…not very good with too spicy food. He likes his meat and barbeque is probably his favourite," Mizuki said and Mitsuki clapped her hands once more as she started to think of possible dishes.
"W-Wait! I-I haven't asked him yet! D-Don't jump the gun!" Mizuki tried to stop her mother but the female as already up and going, Masaru trying to calm his wife. It was too late to stop her. Mizuki let her shoulders and head fall in defeat, a breath of exasperation escaping her lips.
"Stop worrying already! You're making me feel nervous too!" Katsuki scolded his sister, once again reminding her of their connection. He gave her an irritated look, Mizuki smiling apologetically as she tried to ease herself.
"Sorry."
Katsuki clicked his tongue. "Whatever. What are you going to do about those goofy glasses of yours? Did you decide to get contact lenses already?" Katsuki asked, Mizuki blinking. Did he just call her glasses goofy? It must've bene the cutest thing she ever heard him say.
"Yeah, Mom and Dad said they'll make an appointment for me as soon as possible. I'll be sure to see clearly again in no time! I only need to not strain my eyes all the time," Mizuki said, ruffling her own hair with a chuckle.
"And your symptoms?" Katsuki asked and Mizuki blinked in surprise. "How long has that been going on for?" He went to sit down next to his sister. After being in her body for an entire day, he was concerned about her wellbeing.
"I didn't think much of it but at the sports festival it became pressing. Recovery girl said that its post-concussion syndrome. It's much better now! I only have to take one of those tablets a day and it hasn't gotten worse," Mizuki said and gave him a reassuring smile.
"How long is it going to last?" Katsuki asked, a peculiar gleam flashing in his crimson orbs. Mizuki could feel the squeezing in her chest. She hated it having her brother worry about her and yet, she was once again reminded that she was lucky to have a brother like him.
She bit her bottom lip. "She said only a few weeks so not for long. Mom also said that she won't hesitate to pull my ass back to the doctor. There's no need to be worried. I'm the oldest and the toughest Bakugou twin!" She said and Katsuki snorted.
"You wish! You may be older than me but there's no way in hell you're the toughest! Looks like I'll have to beat it into you!" Katsuki said, hitting his fist in his hand palm, sparks appearing. Mizuki pushed him to the side with a smirk.
"Yeah, yeah. Can I just please finish with my sunset dress before you go assaulting me?" Mizuki asked, as she stood up and took her empty mug to the kitchen. She felt better and ready to get to work again.
"What are you waiting for then?" Katsuki asked, Mizuki glancing back at her brother as he pocketed his hands. Mizuki stared at him and then smirked. Sometimes, the boy was too tsundere for his own good.
"You're welcome to keep me company until I'm done. Then you can beat me up afterwards. How does that sound?" Mizuki suggested, watching as her brother scoffed. He turned his back and walked off, causing his sister to smile.
"Whatever."
