Hi, everyone! Welcome to Book II of the Mizuki series. I hope you all enjoy this story as much as I did while writing it. Please feel free to review, I would love to hear your thoughts.
Disclaimer: I don't own My Hero Academia or any of its characters. Mizuki, however, is my own creation.
Let's start with the story, shall we?*
Chapter 5
"Okay, that's it for class," Aizawa spoke as he gently tapped the papers he held in his hand onto the wooden platform. Mizuki sat back in her chair, twirling her pen in hand and Katsuki leaned with his cheek resting on his hand palm.
"There's only one week left until the final exams. You all are studying properly, right? I'm sure you already know, but it won't just be a written exam. There's also a practical component. Make sure you train your minds and bodies at the same time. That's all," he said and slid the door closed behind him.
"I haven't studied at all! With the sports festival and internship, I didn't study at all!" Kaminari and Mina exclaimed simultaneously. The blonde was in absolute horror while the pink haired female laughed without a care in the world, hands crossed behind her back.
Kaminari Denki – Midterm: 19th/19
Mina Ashido – Midterm: 18th/19
"It's true that we had one events after another…" Tokoyami spoke, sweat dropping at the duo's behaviour. He wasn't far behind, sitting at a ranking of 14th and knowing that he would have to work hard to get a good grade.
Rikido Sato – Midterm: 12th/19
Koji Koda – Midterm: 11th/19
"For the midterms, we'd just start school, so they didn't cover much, so I didn't really have a hard time with them, but with the back-to-back events and stuff, the finals will be different," Sato said, Koda nodding in agreement.
"It'll be tough since there's a practical exam, too," Mineta stated smugly, his facial expression matching his tone. He didn't even look at the two shocked and lowest ranking students as he held himself above them.
Mineta Minoru – Midterms: 9th/19
"N-Ninth in the midterms?! And here I thought you were on of us! Guys like you are only likable if they're dumb! Where's the demand for this?!" Mina and Kaminari fumed, the small male completely unfazed by it all.
"Ashido-san! Kaminari-kun!" Izuku's voice reached their ears and they glanced back at the brightly lit boy as he smiled. "L-Let's do our best! We all want to go to the training camp together, right?" He made fists out of confidence.
Izuku Midoriya – Midterms: 4th/19
Iida Tenya – Midterms: 2nd/19
Shoto Todoroki – Midterms: 5rd/19
"Yes! As deputy class representative, I also have high hopes that you'll all be moved into action!" Iida loudly stated, holding his arm up high as he pressed his teeth together into an awkward grin. Shoto walked in beside him, giving them a glance.
"It's pretty hard to fail if you just pay attention in class," Shoto added and had the blonde male gripping his heart. Their words all stabbed him dangerous in the chest, the trio much too bright for him.
"You two, I may be able to be of assistance with class lectures," Momo spoke up, gaining their attention. She wore a kind smile as she put a hand on her chest, their eyes widening with hope and happiness. Their savour had arrived.
Momo Yaoyorozu – Midterms: 1st/19
She then fell into a dark pit of depression, her eyes hidden beneath a shadow that fell over them. "I can't help at all with the practical side, though…" She stated sadly and heard a scoff, everyone's attention drawn towards Mizuki.
Mizuki Bakugou – Midterms: 1st/19
"I'll help everyone out with the practical," she offered and then grinned darkly, sparks appearing all over her skin as she cracked her knuckles. "I'll beat it into your bodies until you die." Everyone paled at her words.
"Mizuki, you also came first for the midterms?" Shoto asked, walking up towards her. She still wore her glasses, the view something that he was accustomed to ever since the internship. Mizuki nodded, sitting down on her table.
"Yeah, our scores were exactly the same so they ranked us the same." She then smirked evilly. "I'll be sure to kick her ass in the finals!" She declared, the words going on deaf ears as a few students went to ask the dark-haired female for extra classes. She let her head fall in defeat, only Shoto, Eijiro and her brother even listening to her.
"Everyone… Yes, of course! I'll let us hold a study session at my residence this weekend! I must tell Mother and have her open up the hall! What kind of tea are you all partial to?" Momo asked, slapping everyone with the reality that she was a rich girl.
Hall? Tea?
"In my family, we always drink Harrod's or Wedgwood, so if you have any preference, let me know! Of course, you can trust me to help you study too! I'll definitely show you how I can help!" She said, and despite the large gap between her and the students, her bounciness made all the negativity fade away.
Eijiro watched the entire scene at the female's happiness as he stood next to Katsuki. Mizuki was still in her state of defeat, Shoto giving her the best comforting expression he could muster but it came out more stoic than he realized.
Eijiro Kirishima – Midterms: 15th/19
Bakugou Katsuki – Midterms: 3rd/19
Eijiro looked at Katsuki's trembling figure and gave him a smug look. "Talk about a gap in personal virtue," he told the male, riling him up further and knew exactly where his words would get him. Katsuki gritted his teeth and scrunched the paper he had in his hands.
"I can do it too, Shitty Hair! Want me to beat it into you until you lay in your own puddle of blood?!" Katsuki snapped at him, Eijiro grinning with a grunt. He was definitely going to take him up on that offer.
"Eh? Kirishima-kun, you're not going to ask Mizuki-chan to help you? Did you two have a fight?" Mina asked, leaning in and starting an entirely new conversation that made a few people's ears perk upwards.
"Nah, Red will be just fine in Explodo-kill's hands," Mizuki said, completely back to normal as she jumped off her desk. "Besides…" She stopped right next to Eijiro and trailed a finger underneath his chin playfully.
"We both know he won't be paying attention to the right things at all," Mizuki teased with a wink and then walked off. Her words left the entire class speechless, her brother making a face of horror while Eijiro had a bloodshot skin from blushing. Shoto had his own shock and faint tinted cheeks on his expression. It was the first he saw Mizuki act like that.
"That was…intense…"
"Neh, neh, Kirishima-kun, did something good happen between you two? Mizuki-chan seems to be in a better mood than usual," Mina asked, watching the ash blonde vanish out of the doorway and then glancing at the redhead.
"Not that I know of. Maybe she's pumped up for the training camp or the exams? She always likes a good challenge!" He stated with a big grin plastered on his lips. The group sweat dropped at the male's oblivious statement and merely shook their heads. He was a lost cause.
"Mi-chan!" Izuku called from behind the ash blonde female as she walked down the hallway. She stopped in her tracks, glancing over her shoulder to see the green haired boy running towards her with a wave.
"Oh, hey, Izu-kun, did you forget something?"
"A-Ah. No, actually, I wanted to ask you a favour!" He nervously said and she raised an eyebrow. "U-Um, about what you said in class… Will you train with me, please?" Mizuki was taken aback by the request.
He waved his arms in front of him, a faint tint in his cheeks. "Y-You don't have to! I-I know y-you're busy too! I-It's just if you can! The last time I practiced with you I was able to find a way to get stronger and it was fun too…" He trailed off, Mizuki smirking.
This was probably his way of telling her that he missed her and wanted to spend a bit more time with her. Yet, the timing was terrible and made the best decision to ask to train with her. The other reason was completely hidden from her.
"Midoriya, you should be careful to train with Mizuki. She's relentless in her training and never knows when to stop." Shoto received a glare. "Do you think you'll be able to handle it?" He asked and a vein pulsed out of Mizuki's skin.
"Listen here you little…" She caught sight of his small smile and blinked. Realization was slowly creeping into her skin and made her give him a wide-eyed gaze. "You're teasing me… Looks like you're working on those social skills of yours after all!" She chuckled, Izuku baffled at what happened.
Mizuki rested her hands on her hips and grinned at Izuku. "You better be on time every single day and no messing around. I'll be sure not to tell Explodo-kill since I don't want a murder on my hand before the exams," she said and Izuku's face lit up.
"Thank you, Mi-chan! I'll do my best!" He said, making his fists and wearing a confident smile on his face. Shoto was surprised to find him asking Mizuki for help, since he had never done it before. Something was up, but he wasn't going to delve into it just yet.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, the ladies room awaits," Mizuki left them with those words, Izuku flushing a deep shade of crimson and Shoto blinking. She walked off, each stride in her step confident and made him shake his head despite smiling.
"Let's go get lunch, Midoriya," Shoto spoke up as he turned around and left. Izuku snapped out of his thoughts, realizing that he had been staring into space and probably wore an expression that spelled out his embarrassment.
"A-Ah, yeah!" Izuku replied and walked beside the duo hair coloured male. He resisted to glance back at his childhood best friend and kept his eyes forward. He felt a wave of guilt wash over him and tried to shake it off, only to remember All Might's words.
"…I want you to keep an eye on her where we are unable to…"
This was his opportunity to keep an eye on her during this period. Hopefully, he would find nothing and only keep his goal to protect her. He kept by his words, knowing Mizuki would never get involved by anything evil but it didn't count for those in the darkness.
Lunchtime...
The practical exam was the talk of the halls for the students of the hero course, class 1A. They expected that the work they covered in the classes were going to be in the theoretical exam and that it would be enough with studying.
"I wonder what we're going to do for the practical exam. I don't know anything about the previous years so I can't tell if it'll be tough or not," Eijiro spoke Mizuki sat down, the male following as he moved in next to her.
"Who cares? I'll blow everything and everyone out of my way," Katsuki bluntly stated, the redhead smirking in reply. Of course, he would. Mizuki, on the other hand, poked a whole in her juice box and took a sip.
"Yeah, you'll probably beat up any challenge thrown in front of you. Still though, I wish they'd give us at least an idea of what to prepare for," Eijiro said, taking a bite out of his lunch. Mizuki glanced at him and then swallowed her sip.
"We're all aspiring future heroes, Red. We need to be prepared for anything," Mizuki spoke and then gave him a confident look. "Besides, you'll break through anything, right?" His eyes briefly widened at her words and was followed by a grin.
Mizuki went to take a bite out of her curry until a wave of disorientation washed over her entire body. The effect had caught her off guard and resulted in her dropping her spoon, eyes clenched shut.
"Mizuki, hey, are you alright?" Eijiro asked, concern flashing in both his and her brother's eyes. He went to touch her but she held up a hand with a small smile. She pushed away the intense vertigo and waved her hand slightly.
"Don't worry. It's the sour taste from the juice I drank." She shivered and made a funny face, nothing reaching her eyes. "I'm never drinking that flavour again!" She added and let out a snicker, Eijiro's face softening.
"Want me to buy you another one?"
"Ah, no, don't worry about it. I won't let it go to waste," Mizuki stopped the male and he briefly blinked before nodding. He watched as she then continued to eat without another care in the world and enjoyed his own lunch.
Katsuki, however, felt a disturbance in their connection. It was very alarming and reminded him of the day at the sports festival. She was acting like nothing was going on, but she couldn't fool him. She would never be able to fool him.
Is it her symptoms? Did she forget to take her medicine this morning? He thoughts, brows knitting together. No, she was very apparent about taking them on time. Did it mean she lied to me? Are her symptoms worsening?
The thoughts of USJ came back fully to haunt him as he recalled how injured his sister was. She had been carrying the burden of it all this time like it was nothing. He had been stupid enough to not notice and believed her when she said that she was doing alright.
The question was, why did she hide it from him? She was always quick to tell him everything, except this one thing. He had to switch bodies with her to find out. He gritted his teeth and slammed his hands on the table standing up, making Eijiro jump and Mizuki raised a disturbed eyebrow.
"What the hell, Katsuki? If you want to go to the bathroom then do it without startling the shit out of us!" She scolded him and then locked eyes. She felt the impulse again. The same impulse that told her that told her to go with him.
"Come with me."
"Hah? No, I'm still busy eating." Mizuki didn't give her brother the satisfied answer, rebelling against the impulse as she went to take another bite. Katsuki wasn't going to have it. He walked around the table and forcefully grabbed her arm, dragging her out.
"H-Hey! Let go! What is wrong with you! Hey!" Mizuki asked the male and didn't receive any answer. She heard Eijiro's cry and gave him a sympathetic and calming look. "I'll be back in a little bit!" Eijiro was left to watch the duo, worry flashing in his eyes.
This was the first time in a long time that he had seen Katsuki this intense. He didn't leave any room for his sister to argue and pulled her along with much force. He wondered what suddenly came over the male.
"Did I just see Bakugou stomping out the cafeteria while dragging Mizuki along?" Kaminari asked as they came next to the sitting booth. Sero stared to where the two ash blonde twins vanished out the entrance and raised an eyebrow.
"That's weird. Does he want Mizuki to kill him?" He asked and then looked at Eijiro. "Kirishima, did something happen? Did you say something to piss him off? Or did Mizuki cut the wrong wire to his ticking time bomb?"
"I didn't and neither did she! He slammed onto the table, grabbed her and left. I don't have a clue what's going on…" Eijiro trailed off, a deep frown forming on his lips. He could feel a nagging feeling reside within his stomach.
"Ah well, might as well savour the moment to sit here." Kaminari and Sero plopped down, moving into the booth and Eijiro not giving them any words of complaint. "Hey, dude, I'm sure it's nothing. Bakugou's fuse lights at the littlest of things," Kaminari stated and Sero nodded.
"Yeah and besides, it's Mizuki he dragged along. He'll probably get an earful and a solid hit or two from disturbing her lunch," Sero said, already eating his food. Eijiro vaguely nodded in reply and returned to his food, hoping they were right.
"Katsuki! Stop pulling me already! I can walk on my own! Katsuki!" Mizuki called behind her brother, scowling when he didn't listen to her. He wasn't saying a single word to her and it was starting to work on her nerves.
He was taking her somewhere without even talking to her. She couldn't tell what he was thinking and only felt a faint anger coming from him. Did she do something? Did she say something? What set him off?
"At least tell me where you're taking me!" Mizuki shouted at him and winced when his grip on her arm tightened drastically. It was starting to sting where he gripped and it made her swallow thickly. He never hurt her.
"I'm taking you to that Old Woman's infirmary." His tone of voice was low and dangerous. "You lied to me, Shitty Sister. Your symptoms are getting worse! I'm taking you there so she can fix it!" He said and Mizuki growled.
She ripped her arm away from Katsuki with a few sparks, his expression threatening as he looked back at her. "Don't be ridicules, Katsuki. I told you that it was the juice. You're overreacting as usual." Mizuki said and he growled.
"Don't lie to me!" He shouted and Mizuki was taken back by the force behind his voice as he held his chest. "You keep forgetting that I can feel when there's something wrong." Mizuki didn't understand where the hostility was coming from and it was concerning.
Katsuki was quick to scowl and curse, the girl assuming that it was because of the exams that lay ahead. Could it be something else? Had she neglected his emotional state by being too occupied with her own things? Stupid, Mizuki!
"Alright, I'll go, if you calm down," Mizuki conditioned and resisted to rub the soreness on her arm. "You'll hear that there won't be anything wrong with me and then feel like an idiot." She walked past him, Katsuki joining her side.
Something was wrong with him. She could feel that his anger was churning from deep inside him and feared where he would direct it.
She knocked on the infirmary door and took a step back, glancing at her brother as he looked her over, crimson eyes gleaming. She rolled her eyes at him. He was worrying about nothing and wasting energy on unnecessary emotions.
"I'm coming!" Recovery Girl's voice reached their ears. "Yes, how can I help you? Oh, Mizuki, Bakugou, come in," the older female invited in as she opened up the door to see the twins waiting for her.
Chiyo Shuzenji
Hero name: Recovery Girl
Quirk: Heal
"Sorry for the disturbance, Recovery Girl. My brother over here is just a bit paranoid," Mizuki stated in a disapproving tone, giving him a glare. Recovery Girl watched as Katsuki turned towards her and pocketed his hands.
"Her symptoms have been getting worse." His words had the older female's eyes widen in surprise, Mizuki gaping at him. "Do something about it." His rude statement received a smack from his sister and she gave the older female an apologetic look.
"Sorry about him! He's spouting nonsense!" She gave him a shove and then let out a breath. "I drank something sour and now he thinks that I had a dizzy spell. Would you be able to check up on me to give him some peace of mind, please?" Mizuki asked.
"I'll check your vital signs for any changes. However, it's very concerning if it turns out to be true. It's not something you should hide. You need to get treated as soon as possible. If Bakugou is right, then you owe him a big favour," she said as Mizuki sat down on the bed.
"Hah! You're going to be in my debt, Fabric Conditioner! So, you better start telling the truth!" He told her and Mizuki clicked her tongue in irritancy. The teenagers waited as Recovery Girl took her vital signs, Katsuki's stare not leaving his sister for one single moment.
He knew what he felt. He wasn't a fool. He knew something was wrong. He could feel his stomach squeezing at the thought of her being sick. Recovery Girl was very concerned and it made him wonder what the possible consequences would be…
Recovery Girl took a step back, pulling out the stethoscope from her ears. "Everything seems to be in order." Katsuki's eyes widened in disbelief. "There's nothing abnormal in your heartbeat or breathing and your vital signs are in range," she said and Mizuki smiled.
"Thank-""Like hell!"
"Katsuki, that's enough," Mizuki told her brother and then let out a breath. "I told you before, didn't I? I'm doing just fine and if anything was happening, I would tell you immediately." He was about to retort but her expression cut him off.
"I'm your twin, aren't I? Why would I hide something from someone who's both my brother and best friend?" He choked on his words, fists clenching by his sides. "Listen, if you want, I'll stay here a while longer and have Recovery Girl keep an eye on me. Will that make you feel better?" She suggested.
"Mizuki is more than welcome to stay for a while. I'll keep a close eye on her. You don't have to worry, Bakugou. She's in good hands," Recovery Girl added. Katsuki looked at the older female and then Mizuki.
"If I find you out of here before the old woman made sure you're alright, I'll murder you! You hear me, Mizuki?!" He threatened and she laughed lightly. She gave him a reassuring smile that he replied to with a grunt. He then walked out, slamming the door closed.
Recovery Girl shook her head at the interaction. She wasn't ever going to understand the way the twins showed love. They were a strange bunch yet she was glad to find that Bakugou was quite the soft-hearted male when it came to his sister's health.
"Well, you're going to have to rest for the while that you're here," Recovery Girl said and Mizuki let out a breath. She nodded in reply, blinking when her mind fuzzed for a brief moment. She frowned and tried to push past the strange sensation.
"I'm sure that you want to return to class as soon as lunch ends, but I'd like to monitor you for a little while longer. I'll write a letter for the teacher you have your next period at. For now, I want you to relax…"
Mizuki could barely hear the spoken words as everything swayed around her. She gripped the bed, clenching her eyes shut as she waited for it to subside. A wave of nausea followed and one last push of disorientation made her body fall forward.
"I hope that you're still taking your medicine. You should-Mizuki!" The feminine hero managed to catch the girl just in time as she fell of the bed. "Mizuki, are you alright? What's wrong?" She asked in concern.
"S-Sorry… D-Dizzy spell…"
Recovery Girl's eyes narrowed in concern. It was true then. The symptoms were getting worse. She felt Mizuki clutching her clothing weakly, her hands trembling as the vertigo rippled through her body with much force.
"Can you lay down on the bed for me?" Recovery Girl asked and Mizuki weakly nodded. She could try. She used Recovery Girl's help and lay down on the bed, clenching her eyes shut. She could only hope it would come to pass quickly.
"Your brother wasn't wrong then. It has been getting worse. Why didn't you say so from the beginning?" Recovery Girl asked, frowning in disapproval at the girl. Mizuki managed to open one eye to look at the blurry image of the female hero.
"T-This is t-the f-first time."
Recovery Girl's eyes widened. "You didn't think much of it… Luckily, your brother brought you in time. Can you tell me what you're experiencing?" She asked, as she started to monitor her vitals again.
"I-It's t-the same a-as before. The nausea is better b-but the dizziness i-is a bit much," Mizuki replied and bit her bottom lip. "Recovery Girl, w-what's going on? A-Am I supposed to get sicker?" Her voice was laced with concern.
Recovery Girl frowned and put a hand on the girl's shoulder. "Don't worry. You're in good hands. I'm going to give you a higher dosage to drink for now," she said and hid her worry for the girl. Mizuki nodded and clenched her one fist.
"Don't tell Katsuki." Recovery Girl's eyes widened. "H-He's already got a lot on his p-plate. I-I don't want to worry him over nothing. This is nothing I c-can't handle," she said and the older female frowned deeply.
"Mizuki-""Please."
Mizuki was pleading the female through crimson eyes. The older woman sighed and nodded. "It's your decision but if this gets out of hand, I'm going to tell him." Mizuki gave her a grateful look and then closed her eyes.
This girl… Recovery Girl shook her head. She pulled back her hand from the touch and blinked as she felt a tingling sensation running through her. Realization dawned upon her and she felt her body briefly cool down.
After Aizawa informed her of what they were suspecting, she made a mental note to keep an eye on her state of health. It all clicked into place now. The symptoms weren't because of post-concussion syndrome. It was because of another factor that was slowly awakening inside of her.
She needed to tell the homeroom teacher as soon as possible. If her suspicions were right, then Mizuki needed to be made aware of this danger as soon as possible. It was a completely unknown Quirk and no one knew what the consequences would be.
"You can rest for a while. I'll be sure to…" Mizuki was already sleeping, her facial expression showing a tinge of her discomfort. Recovery Girl gave the girl a sympathetic look and turned away from her, a squeeze in her chest.
Poor girl…
Later on…
A pair of worn-out eyes stared at a peaceful sleeping ash blonde girl. She had been out the rest of the school day. The exhaustion of the side effects of what was happening to her body leading to this cause.
His grip in his biceps tightened and his frown deepened. He didn't like it. He didn't like it one bit. He could feel uneasiness reside from within him. He knew what he had to do but he also knew what would happen if he did.
According to Recovery Girl, it was a normal occurrence. The awakening of a Quirk could lead to symptoms arising. What was concerning was that it was getting stronger. One single body that held two Quirks. No one knew what it would lead to.
Crimson eyes fluttered open, flinching slightly at the brightness of the light above them. A few blinks later gave a clearer view and evaporated the grogginess of the swirling thoughts. It was strange. Where was she?
Mizuki jumped up in bed, eyes wide in shock when she realized she had fallen asleep in the infirmary. She wanted to groan. She couldn't believe that she actually slept like a log. Time! What time was it?!
"I see you're awake." Her body went rigid at the male's voice and she hesitantly turned to look at the figure. "Should I be concerned about you sleeping through your classes? Aren't you taking the last week before exams a bit too easy, Class Rep?" Aizawa asked.
Shit.
"A-Aizawa S-Sensei… I-It's not like that at all! It was an accident! I-I mean, it's just a little…nap…" Mizuki's crimson orbs were wide as she stared at the clock. The school day was already at its end and all her classes were over.
"Y-You're kidding… W-Why didn't Recovery Girl wake me up?! I missed an entire day of work!" Mizuki exclaimed in horror, her face turning blue. She was dead! Katsuki was going to murder her right after Aizawa was done with her.
She saw him move, flinching and waiting for the hard cloths to wrap around her. Instead, he let out a sigh. "I heard that you passed out after your symptoms worsened," he said and Mizuki averted her eyes away, a gleam of guilt flashing in her eyes.
"I apologize for causing so much trouble. I've been keeping an eye on and not pushing myself but maybe I need to rethink my way of doing things," she said and Aizawa's brows twitched. She was still completely oblivious to the truth.
He needed to tell her. He knew what he needed to do. Then why was it this difficult to tell her? Was he protecting her by not telling her the truth or was he putting her in danger? Was his decision to stall until the training camp wise?
"I gave your brother all the work for today to make sure you don't fall behind. Iida and Momo agreed to help with your responsibilities while you were resting," Aizawa informed her and crimson eyes looked at her teacher.
"There's a stack of papers next to your bed." Mizuki caught sight of the papers. "The least you can do is hand the exam schedules out before heading home," he said and Mizuki's face lit up. She smirked and nodded.
"Yes, sir!"
He grunted and turned to leave, stopping briefly to give her one last look. He could only hope that the decision he made was the right one.
Meanwhile…
"Alright!" Mina and Kaminari exclaimed form happiness as they received the good news regarding the practical exam. Their happiness was rippling off them in waves, a few other students also relieved to hear the news.
"It'll be easy if we're fighting against robots!" He said, Mina agreeing with him. They had been worried for nothing after all. Class B's class representative had been kind enough to share the information regarding the practical exam.
"You guys look like you'd have a hard time controlling your Quirks against people," Shoji pointed out, the duo agreeing. However, since their fight would be against robots, it would be easy to melt and electrocute without worrying about using their quirks.
Mezo Shoji
Quirk: Dupli-Arms
"Now you just need Yaoyorozu to help you study, and you'll be set for the finals!" Sero told them, giving them a thumbs up as he grinned. Eijiro listened with half an ear, glancing at the empty chair where Mizuki would sit.
Katsuki came back after his dragging session without the ash blonde girl. It turned out that she was overly exhausted and needed rest, which was concerning. Katsuki didn't seem to give it a second thought, satisfied with himself that he got her to rest…until the end of the day.
No one expected Mizuki to skip classes. It was unheard off and unnatural. It brought great worry over everyone. Had something been going on without no one knowing? Was she sick? Why did it have to be at a bad time like this?
I hope Mi-chan is alright. Izuku thought and glanced down at his phone. All Might informed him that she was only resting in the infirmary. It had the green haired boy wondering if it had something to do with the topic, they discussed the other day.
Speaking of which… He recalled the other serious conversation he had with All Might where he was informed that he may one day face off against a great evil. There were a lot of things he needed to accomplish and do.
In order to prepare to face those words and keep Mizuki safe from whatever was starting to arouse, he needed to make everything count from now on. There were no second chances of opportunity for failure.
"It doesn't matter if they're people of robots. They're the same if you beat 'em up, right? What're you idiots talking about it being a cinch for?" Katsuki snapped at Kaminari and Mina as they cheered, the duo stopping.
"Who're you calling an idiot, idiot?!"
"Shut up!" They flinched at his tone. "if you need to control your Quirk, then control it, Idiot! Nah, Deku?" Katsuki turned to face the boy, the temperature in the room dropping drastically as he glared at him.
"I don't know if you've figure out how to use your Quirk a little or what, but you seriously keep rubbing me the wrong way," he snarled dangerously and Izuku frowned. He was talking about how he moved like him the other day at hero basic training.
"I don't need another half-assed result like at the sports festival. At the upcoming finals, we'll get individual scores, so we'll see who's better whether you like it or not." He pointed at the male. "I'll beat you with an indisputable difference! I'll kill you!" He declared.
He then glared at the divided hair coloured male as he stood in the back of the class. "Todoroki, you too!" He snapped and the marched towards the door. He slammed it closed behind him, the chilly atmosphere leaving everyone uncomfortable.
"It's been a while since I've seen Bakugou that intense," Eijiro spoke up, rubbing the back of his head. He wondered if it had anything to do with Mizuki since he had been acting strange the entire day.
"Impatience? Or Hatred?"
"M-Maybe he's just worried about Mizuki-chan?" Mina tried to excuse the male's irrational behaviour. It wasn't too farfetched since he was her twin and despite no one believing someone could have such a close relationship, they knew their care was deep for each other.
Mizuki let out a sigh, her shoulders slumping. She still couldn't believe she was stupid enough to fall asleep like that. Moreover, Recovery girl didn't even try to wake her up and claimed that she needed the rest.
Like hell she did!
What was wrong with everyone today? First her brother, then Recovery Girl and then Aizawa. She was fine! Yes, the dizzy spell was unforeseen but she had medication now. It was only a little while and then it will all blow over.
"Stupid, idiotic, moronic, shit for brains-" She blinked, cutting her string of curses off when she met a pair of identical crimson eyes. The orbs stared back at her and also blinked before narrowing dangerously.
"Is this the time to come waltzing through the halls, idiot?!" Katsuki shouted at Mizuki and she sweat dropped. "Are you stupid? Missing an entire day of class like that! Aren't you taking this seriously?" He was pushing her buttons with much aggression but she decided to take a deep breath.
"You wanted me to rest and I did. It's not my fault Recovery girl didn't wake me up in time. If I wasn't taking anything seriously, then I wouldn't have listened to your concerns. Unlike you, I actually care what my sibling thinks," Mizuki told him and his eye twitched.
"Furthermore, there's absolutely nothing wrong with me. I'm in absolute perfect shape, other than ignoring a bit of sleep. You can calm down now," Mizuki said in hopes to make the rage within him ease but to no luck.
He didn't say anything to her, merely walked past her and pocketed his hands angrily. He was pissed. Great. Now she would have to deal with a very livid Explodo-kill and a shit load of homework. The day was getting better by the minute.
She barely had those thoughts as she stepped inside the classroom after sliding the door open. the chilly atmosphere hit her dead on and she couldn't help but feel a wave of uneasiness wash over her entire body.
"Mizuki-chan!"
"Mizuki-san!"
Mizuki was nearly tackled by Mina and Ochaco and side stepped the duo, causing them to almost fall over their own two feet. "Hey! Don't go jumping after people when they're holding precious cargo!" She snapped at them, not wanting to receive a scolding session form Aizawa because she made a mess.
"MizukI! You're okay!"
Mizuki smirked at Eijiro was he ran over towards her. "Naturally. There's nothing to worry about. I accidently fell asleep and no one had the decency to wake me up resulting in me missing most of the classes. I'm already making a list of possible homicides," she said and everyone sweat dropped.
"Mizuki-kun! Are you sure-""Great, you're here. Hand these out for everyone would you? I have an angry brother to catch up to," Mizuki told Iida as she stacked the papers in his arms, only stealing two.
"Mi-chan…"
Mizuki caught sight of Izuku's expression and soon everyone's. Something was up. "Alright, spit it out. What happened?" She asked, crossing her arms over her chest and waited for anyone to give her a reply.
"Bakugou threatened to kill Midoriya." Shoto's words didn't have much of an impact on Mizuki. "He's clearly upset about what happened ta hero basic training the other day and declared he would come out on top at the exams," he informed her and Mizuki let out a sigh.
"I was only gone for a while… Can't that idiot keep his temper straight for at least a few hours?" Mizuki let out a sigh and gave them a reassuring look. "I'll go sort it out, don't worry. Leave Explodo-kill in his big sister's hands," she said with a smirk and Shoto smiled.
Izuku stared at his childhood best friend and watched as she confidently stood, hands resting on her hips. He never doubted her and knew that she was the only one who could ever get through Katsuki's head. However, there was an awful feeling that formed in the pit of his stomach.
What would happen the day she no longer could?
