Chapter two
Sora and his mom are in their apartment, "Marring mom it's too soon. I haven't even met the man."
"I don't know Sora. The mood was right and he asked, and he wants to meet you. He'll see you at school"
"that's a bit creepy." Sora says with a disturbed look on his face.
"I forgot to tell you, he's your school's president." The door bell rings, "Oh, the presidents son is here." Tifa gets up and goes to answer the door.
Sora rubs his head, "School president, something not quite right." When suddenly it hits him, that means… "NO mom!" Sora runs to the door, but his mom opens it and Sora stops right in the entry way to see none other than Riku. Oh shit.
Sora's mom comes up behind her, "This is the man I'm marrying's son, Riku. You're going to be step siblings so you should get along."
Riku has a huge grin on his face, "Nice to meet you little brother." This can't be happening; Sora is lost for words.
They had dinner together and for the rest of his stay he was a perfect gentleman. Sora couldn't take it. Where was the mean Riku he's been dealing with before. This Ruki was nice to his mother, and even nice to him.
At school the next day Sora sat on the steps of the university pouting.
"Step sibling?" Kairi asks Sora.
"Yep, my mom is marrying his dad. My life is too tragic."
The day went on like any other classes and lunch where the group chatted about their classes. At the end of the school day Sora was starting his walk home when Riku on a motorcycle stops right in front of him. Sora rolls his eyes. "Is it going to be so bad being my little brother. Actually, you don't have to be my brother. Tell your mom not to marry my dad."
"I won't do that." Sora says even though the thought has crossed his mind. She was too happy, in love and Sora didn't want to break that up.
"Why not?" Riku asks with a bit of a tone.
"Even if I hate you, I won't say anything." Sora adds. "Fooled my mother with your niceness."
"I can be nice you know. With you though, I can think of more creative ways to break you."
"I still won't do it."
Riku looks annoyed, "Why be so pitiful. People like me have no sympathy."
"I don't care, as long as my mom is happy anything is worth that. Including putting up with you." Sora adds before walking around him and his motorcycle to continue his walk home.
The next day Sora is walking in the hallway when he runs into Hayner. "Hey." Sora says. They hadn't had the chance to talk since the whole letter incident.
"Hey Sora." He says back.
"Look I'm sorry about the whole letter thing, I wasn't apart of distributing them around school."
"I didn't think you were. You seemed genuinely upset."
"I was, umm look..." Sora didn't know what to say, but luckily, he didn't have time to say much else. Walking up right next to them was none other than Riku.
"Riku what are you doing here? Your classes are on the other side of campus."
"You know where his classes are?" Hayner asked.
"Umm yeah, that's because he's my little brother."
"Am I?" Riku asked
"Well he will be, my mom is marrying his dad."
"Oh cool." Hayner put his hand out, "I'm Hayner."
Riku just stared at Hayner making everyone uncomfortable, "Riku" Sora says.
"So I hear your caption of the basketball team, what do you say we have a match your guys against mine."
"That sounds like fun, the more people who like the game the better."
"Great," Riku put up a fist for a bump, "see you after school." They bump and Riku turns away, giving Sora a grin and walks down the hall towards his own classes.
"Your brother is interesting, wouldn't be bad to become his friend." If only you knew Sora thought.
Knowing where the group hung out, after his next class went over to find Riku. "Getting close to Hayner now." He said as he walks through the door. The group of guys all look at him. "What's you scheme?"
"I don't know what you mean. I'm just a guy who wants to play basketball."
"Hey Sora." Axel calls out, "Why are you still alive. You hit prince and he lets you walk like it meant nothing."
"It's illogical, by now at least 2 or 3 of your bones would be broken" Rai adds.
Riku looks over at the group, "after school get ready for a little basketball game."
Sora knows he's up to something, getting close to Hayner the guy he likes isn't a coincidence. The group left Sora in there taking off somewhere, so Sora quickly raced down to the cafeteria.
"Red alert." Sora says as he gets to the table.
"What now?" Kairi asks.
"Ruki is getting close to Hayner."
"That doesn't sound good." Roxas adds in taking a bite of pizza.
"After school today they are going to play basketball against each other. Riku made it sound all innocent, but I know he has something up his sleeve"
"Sounds fun. We should all go."
"Yeah, I'm not going to miss this," Kairi adds in. "Who do you think will win."
"Moneys on the bad boys." Roxas says.
"Why would you say that."
He shrugs his shoulders, "Something about them…"
Sora stares as Roxas for a moment. When did he start liking Riku's gang.
When classes ended, the basketball team and Riku's group all met for a match. In the stands many students gathered. "New spread fast." Roxas commented.
"Come on let's make sure we have a seat." Luckily Kairi got there early and saved seats next to her.
At first the game went back and forth, one basket to another basket, but after some time Riku's team started making basket after basket. "Hayner's team is being crushed." Kairi says.
"Told you" Roxas says, "something about the bad boys." He sighs watching them go.
Sora watches nervously, "I don't think Hayner can take much more, he looks exhausted." Before they knew it the game was called, in the lead was Riku's team by 10 points.
"didn't we say this would be a friendly game" Hayner asks Riku down on the court. "Why so serious?"
"I have one goal, to win" Riku says back.
"Well I lost. You guys are really good, want to join the team?" Hayner asks Riku. "I can make you a lead player."
"Of course," then he pointed right at Sora, "As long as he is the team manager."
Sora about fell out of his seat, what was this about? "Well, we could use a new team manager the last one quit and we haven't been able to find another." Hayner looks up at the stands, "It's a tough job I won't force it on you."
"I'll do it." Sora says back.
"Okay it's done then" Riku says with a grin. Sora's face went white, did I just play into his scheme, now I'll be back to doing things for him.
After the game Riku's group of friends all sat down in a shop. "Are we really joining the basketball team" Axel groaned.
"Don't you like playing" Riku says back to everyone.
"Well yeah,"
"Then join or don't." Riku says back. "I'm not forcing you to join." The group all look at each other
"I'm in." Says Seifer.
"Me too." Rai joins in.
Axel reluctantly agrees as well, "I'm not going to be the only one not playing."
The next day after school was basketball practice, all Riku's friends joined the team with him. However most of practice all Riku did was boss Sora around. "Water," on minute then "towel" and "juice." Even going so far as to ask for a massage. Sora was supposed to take care of all the team, not just him. Again Sora was made to be Riku's slave.
Sora sat in the bleachers taking deep breaths when Kairi and Roxas came towards him. "You're going to have to be more diligent, apparently Riku played in high school and was kicked off the team for hitting the coach." Kairi says.
"He what?"
"That's not true." None other then Axel came and took a seat next to Sora. "Once upon a high school day, a coach said to an overweight team mate who hadn't gotten the chance to play the last two years, 'you fatso you don't belong on the team you might as well as sit in the bleachers'. Riku got upset and went and hit the coach. He stood up for someone who couldn't stand up for himself." Axel gets up, "oh and that fatso was me." He pulled out a picture of him in high school next to Riku. "I know its hard to believe, but we're not with him because he's the president's son or anything. It's because we really respect him."
Sora looks at the picture and starts to realize maybe he got Riku wrong. But that doesn't explain why he is so mean with me Sora thinks.
"Sora!" a familiar voice called out to him.
Sora tries to put on a smiling face, "Yeah Riku."
"I need you to get somethings for me." Sora walks over to him and sees a list of different food for the team. Sora did as he was told and got a bunch of food and drinks for the team. On the way back he once again bumped into a familiar face.
"Larxene," Sora calls out as his bags are once again smshed to the ground.
"What are you doing still hanging around the prince? Didn't I return the love letter to you? What's you excuse this time?" Larxene stands with another person next to her.
"Love letter?"
"the one you wrote to the basketball captain."
"That was you?" Sora's mouth dropped, so it wasn't Riku at all. "you're mean."
"Really? We don't know each other, ill let you know, I'm worse than you think."
The other girl pulls out a rope and quickly ties up Sora. Larxene pulls out a lighter and walks over to him, "If I set your hair on fire what will Prince think then? "
Suddenly water is thrown all over them. A janitor quickly apologies, "I'm so sorry about that. But what's going on here? Bullying such a nice young man."
"This is your last warning Sora; you won't be so lucky next time." Before walking off covered in water. "Ugh, this is bull."
The janitor undoes the rope and gives Sora a hug. "You don't have to thank me; it's my job to protect you."
"Pervert somebody help me!" Sora yells out.
A basketball comes flying out of nowhere and hits the janitor on the head. "What are you doing old man" Riku yells out. The janitor then runs over to Riku and gives him a hug. "What are you doing old man, don't touch me."
"Why are you so mean? I was only gone for a few days." Realization starts to hit Sora, don't tell me.
"You must be, Riku's dad."
He turns around a goes back to Sora and pulls out his hand to shake. "Sora hello. I'll care for you like I care for you mom. Riku was so excited when he heard he was getting a brother, actually he asked about you before he-"
Suddenly a basketball hit him again. "Knock it off old man."
"President Leon." A man dressed in a suit came up to them, "you have a meeting."
"Take him away." Riku adds.
"You know it makes it harder for us when you dress up like a janitor." The man said.
"It's fun, let's go to the meeting."
Sora walks over to Riku, "You and your dad are close."
"why say that?"
"Well, you're all big and bad Riku, but there isn't anything you can do about your father." He smiles. Then it hit him, Sora said all those things to Riku when he didn't even post the letter. "Riku," he said with a bit of strain in his voice. "I'm sorry, I thought you posted and letter. I said some hurtful things to you in my anger. I'm very sorry. I don't expect you to forgive me. In fact, you can slap me right back."
Riku raises his eye brow, "you'll let me smack you?"
"yep"
"Even though it's going to hurt." Sora nodded his head, "Even if it leaves a mark on your face."
"Riku I said what I said. You can slap me back."
"Alright." The two of them face each other "now close your eyes."
Sora nods and closes his eyes waiting for a slap. Riku smirked before grabbing Sora by the neck and pulling him in for a kiss.
It takes a few seconds for Sora to comprehend what's happening before pulling away, "what are you doing"
"I told you before So-ra I always get what I want, and what I want is you."
"But- but we are going to be brothers."
"We'll be dangerous siblings."
"What are you really thinking Riku; this doesn't make any sense."
"It's true sora. You can't stop this."
"You can't just play with my emotions like that." Sora yells before turning away from him and running down the hall way food and snacks in hand to go back to basketball practice.
"Where's Riku, he went looking for you." Axel asks when Sora walks in to the gym.
Sora's face turns red thinking about what just happened. Why did he do that? Nothing was making sense anymore. He looks over to Hayner, I like Hayner... right?
After practice Hayner goes over to Sora as he puts the basketballs up and cleans up after practice. "Hey Sora." Sora looks over at him.
"Hey Hayner."
"I was wondering if you wanted to go to a rock concert with me."
"Of course," Sora says back. Anything to get his mind off Riku.
The next day the Riku's group is missing from practice. They were helping to set up a stage for a rock concert. Riku delegated many tasks. "I've never seen him this serious." Seifer says to axel.
"He's friends with the band; he used to play with them."
"So cool." Axel nods before getting two beers for them. Riku keeps on helping to set up mics and lights.
After they finish up, he takes a seat at one of the booths that line the outside wall of the small venue. The band starts to practice their set.
Hayner is waiting for Sora with the tickets in hand. When Riku is spotted, walking towards him. Before Hayner has a chance to say anything, Riku dashes behind him. There a box sat with a bird tied up to it trying to fly away.
He quickly picked up the bird as the sounds of firecrackers going off started. "You okay?" Hayner asked as he ran over to Riku.
"I'm fine." He looked at his hand that the bird wasn't in, and a scratch was covering his hand.
"That doesn't look good."
"It was worth it." Riku says as he releases the bird. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm going to a concert."
"Never thought a goodie two shoes basketball caption would be interested in a heavy metal rock concert." Behind them Sora comes up from behind him, dressing up in a black pair of jeans, a red button up, and a black silk scarf on.
"What's going on here?" Sora asks a little frightened. Did he tell Hayner about their kiss?
"Lookie here, Sora got all dressed up for your date." Riku mocked, he reaches out and quickly takes Sora's scarf. "You look cute."
Sora's face turns red again, "you can't just take things that don't belong to you."
Riku didn't answer and starts to the walk away, "have a good time."
Backstage of the concert the band was getting ready to go on. "Thanks for helping to set everything up for tonight" The lead singer of the band says to Riku, who's tying up Sora's scarf around his injured hand.
"Don't worry about it "
"Just think if you didn't go to college, you could be up here on stage with us."
Riku laughs "You know I can't sing."
"We can't find Zed," The guitarist was missing. There was a search until he was found being sick and in bathroom puking. "You alright man." The Drummer asked when they finally did find him.
"I don't want to let you guys down." He said before turning back to the toilet and throwing up some more.
The band was scrambling, what are they going to do without him. "Riku." The lead singer called out to him. Riku looked up, "You heard us during rehearsal and most of our songs are the ones you played too. Can you help us out?"
