CHAPTER TEN
(Chapter Title - Entr'acte)

Instead of singing or acting that day, Carol had the entire cast for The Prom put on comfortable clothes and go to her dance workshop.

Everyone spent most of the day dancing, other than breaking for lunch and using the bathroom. The ensemble and actors worked on the big numbers - It's Time To Dance, Tonight Belongs To You and Love Thy Neighbor.

"I can't believe she made us dance AND sing at the same time" Ted said, taking a long drink from his water bottle. They had just danced to Tonight Belongs To You.

"Ted, most of us have been doing theater since we were kids, so we're used to it" Monica said. She had been in the most musicals and plays out of the group with an astounding ten: five community theater plays & musicals, two musicals in elementary school, a play in middle school and three musicals in high school.

"What was the last musical you were in?" Barney asked, wiping sweat off his forehead.

"A Chorus Line" Monica said, "I played Cassie."

Everyone groaned and rolled their eyes - they had heard enough of Monica's bragging.

"Monica, I have two words for you - Shut Up!" Ross said in an irritated tone. He looked at his sister, "it's fine if you tell us a little bit about your accomplishments, but not every day."

"Yeah honey, you don't need to brag about every musical or play you've been in" Rachel told her best friend.

Monica felt tears in her eyes. She got up and ran towards the woods, sobbing.

"I'll go after her" Phoebe said.

Chandler pulled Phoebe's arm, "no, just give her some space. She'll come back."

By dinner time, Monica still hadn't returned.

"Should we go look for her now?" Ted asked.

"I think I know where she is" Chandler said, "she and I went horseback riding the other day, so I'll go check the barn."

The others nodded and headed to the Mess Hall while Chandler headed to the barn.

Chandler smiled as he found Monica in a horse named Knight's stall. Knight stood at the back of his stall, eating dinner while Monica brushed his soft black coat.

"You gonna come back to us, Mon?" Chandler asked kindly, his voice soft so he wouldn't spook Knight.

"No" Monica said, focusing on a knot in Knight's mane. Her voice was hoarse, as if she had been crying, which she had.

"Look, I'm sorry about what happened back there, but the others are right - you really don't need to brag about your accomplishments. We're all proud and happy for you" Chandler said softly.

Monica sniffled, burying her face in Knight's neck, taking in his horsey scent.

Knight came over to Chandler and sniffed him curiously.

"What about some ice cream from the Mess Hall before we go to our cabins? Would that make everything better?" Chandler asked, gently rubbing Knight's velvety nose.

Monica nodded, smiling a tiny bit. She put the brushes away and exited Knight's stall.

"There's my girl" Chandler said, pulling Monica into a hug. He then kissed her forehead gently, "is that okay?"

Monica nodded again and held Chandler's hand, "I think I'm falling in love with you."

"I'm falling in love with you, too" Chandler said, kissing Monica's hand gently.

The two of them left the barn and made their way to the Mess Hall, walking under Chandler's musical themed umbrella.

"Okay, you have to tell me where you got that umbrella" Monica said.

"Amazon" Chandler said, "it was only $10.00."

"Nice!" Monica said as they entered the Mess Hall. She headed to the dessert table while Chandler closed the umbrella after getting all the rain off it.

Monica got herself some chocolate chip cookies, some chocolate ice cream and a glass of chocolate milk.

"Someone likes chocolate" Chandler remarked as he got himself some dessert.

"I'm a huge chocololic" Monica said, smiling as Chandler opened his umbrella back up and walked her to her cabin, "Rachel likes to joke that I don't have blood running through my veins - I have chocolate syrup."

Chandler snorted to contain a laugh, "that's adorable."

The following day, everyone went to get their costumes fitted, chatting happily to each other.

Once they were done with their costume fittings, the friends all headed to the beach to play some beach volleyball.

"After camp ends, we should totally hang out, since we all live in New York" Lily said.

"I'm actually moving to Canada at the end of summer" Robin said, "my dad got a job in a small town outside Vancouver."

The others stopped walking and stared at Robin.

"When were you gonna tell us this?" Lily asked, looking at her best friend.

"I don't know" Robin said, feeling tears in her eyes.

"Guys, let's not talk about this right now, please" Marshall said.

"Yeah, let's enjoy theater camp and being with each other" Barney said, smile creeping across his face, "I know what'll make us feel better - a huge orgy!"

"EW!" All the friends, besides Barney, said in unison.

"We love you, Barn, but not that much" Ted said, seeing Janice, "hey, isn't that the girl that likes Chandler? Oh what was her name?"

Chandler saw Janice and froze in place, "do not let her see me! I swear, if you call her over, I will kill you!" He hissed.

"HEY JANICE! CHANDLER WANTS TO SEE YOU!" Ross yelled.

"Ross I will kill you!" Chandler yelled, chasing Ross into the water.

Everyone on the beach laughed, then stopped as Janice came over.

"I just came over to say that I'm over Chandler - there's a new man in my life - Rosco" Janice said, indicating to a tall, handsome guy next to her.

Chandler's jaw hit the ground, "you're over me for him!"

Rosco looked a little uncomfortable, "yeah. We met while building sets for The Prom. I just love Janice's laugh."

Janice laughed, sounding like a sick horse, which made everyone either cover their ears or bite their lips to keep from laughing themselves.

"Oh, yeah, well I found someone too" Chandler said, scanning his eyes for Monica, "Monica Gellar, get your sweet ass - I mean butt - over here."

Monica looked confused as she blew up a beach ball for them to play with. Phoebe, Lily, Robin, Joey and Rachel were setting up the net for beach volleyball. She got up and walked over to where Chandler, Janice and Rosco were, handing the beach ball to Ross.

"What's up?" Monica asked, standing next to Chandler.

Janice raised an eyebrow, "this is the girl?"

"Huh?" Monica asked, then smiled, wrapping her arms around Chandler's waist, "yes, I am the girl. The girl madly in love with Chandler-Wandler. He is so sexy."

"Knock it off" Chandler told Monica from the side of his mouth.

Rosco looked over to where everyone was setting up beach volleyball, "that looks fun. Can we play?"

"Sure" Monica said, scanning her friends, "Ted and Rachel are team captains."

"Since there's thirteen of us, I'll be the referee" Robin said, standing aside, "we'll decide who picks first with" she scanned the sand until she found a flat shell. She put half of it in the water then came back over, "wet side is heads, dry side it tails. Call it in the air."

Robin flipped the shell in the air.

"HEADS / TAILS!" Rachel and Ted yelled at the same time.

"Heads wins" Robin said, smiling at Rachel, "who do you pick first?"

"I choose" Rachel scanned the people in front of her, "my best friend Monica."

"Aww" Monica said, heading over to Rachel and hugged her.

"I choose my bestie Barney" Ted said.

"I think it should be guys vs girls" Marshall said.

Everyone agreed and went to either the side that Rachel or Ted were on.

Robin was true to her word and played referee. Some plays she called were fair and others were not so much.

The girls ended up winning 5-1.

As the group headed back to their cabins, the sun was beginning to set.

"If we hurry and shower, we might be able to snag a s'more or two" Joey said.

Everyone nodded and zoomed to their cabins to shower and put on their pajamas.

They headed to the campfire pit and made s'mores with the other campers. They all sang songs around the campfire, including a new fun round called Michael Finnegan.

"There was a man named Michael Finnegan
He had whiskers on his chin-a-gen
The wind blew them up and blew them on again
Poor old Michael Finnegan Begin Again
" the counselors and campers sang, one time in unison and about six times in parts.

By the time the song ended, no one could keep a straight face - they were laughing way too hard.

On the way back to the cabins, a counselor called out.

"Tomorrow night, is our annual game of Ghost In the Graveyard. Meet at the campfire pit after dinner and I'll explain the rules" the counselor said.

"I love Ghost in the Graveyard!" Marshall said.

"Dude, what is Ghost in the Graveyard?" Barney asked.

"It's the best version of Hide and Seek - it's so fun!" Lily said, "I remember playing it as a kid."

The following night after dinner, the campers made their way to the campfire pit, where some counselors were standing.

"Welcome to the annual game of Ghost in the Graveyard" one of the counselors said, "my name is Duke and we also have Lindsey, Lydia, Lana and Archer. We're gonna be your guides for how to play."

"First up, how many want to play?" Lindsey asked.

Chandler, Monica, Ross, Rachel, Phoebe, Joey, Lily, Marshall, Ted, Robin, Barney, James, Janice, Rosco, Aaron, Mollie and Savanna stepped up, along with small handful of other campers.

Lydia handed out flashlights while Lindsey explained the rules.

"The boundaries - the cabins, stables and Performance Space. Home base is the campfire pit. If you go outside the boundary, you will be eliminated. Do not go in the stable - the horses are in for the night and are resting.

We need a ghost? Who wants to be first?" Lindsey asked.

Lily raised her hand high, waving it to and fro.

"What's your name, hun?" Lindsay asked.

"Lily!" Lily said.

"Lily is our ghost" Lindsey said, having Lily come over to where she was.

"Lily is gonna go hide. While she does that, everyone turn around and start counting 1 o'clock, 2 o'clock" Archer said, encouraging everyone to start counting.

Lily ran to hide, using her flashlight.

"3 O'CLOCK, 4 O'CLOCK, 5 O'CLOCK, 6 O'CLOCK, 7 O'CLOCK, 8 O'CLOCK, 9 O'CLOCK, 10 O'CLOCK, 11 O'CLOCK, MIDNIGHT! I HOPE I DON'T SEE THE GHOST TONIGHT!" Everyone shouted in unison. They then broke up into teams and went on their way to search for Lily.

"REMEMBER, IF LILY FINDS YOU, TURN OFF YOUR FLASHLIGHT AND YOU'LL BECOME A GHOST WITH HER!" One of the counselors said.

Lily remained hiding, remembering playing Ghost in the Graveyard with some neighborhood kids when she was younger. She spotted Rachel, Joey and Savanna heading to her hiding spot.

"Are you sure she's over here?" Savanna asked.

"Totally" Joey said.

Lily waited for them to come closer, then grabbed Rachel's shoulder, laughing at hearing her scream, "I got you guys!"

"To be fair, you only tagged me" Rachel said, turning off her flashlight.

Together, Rachel and Lily ended up getting Marshall, Barney and Joey.

The game was played for another two rounds before it got too dark to see.

Everyone went to their cabins, laughing and talking with each other.
