Author's Notes: Here is book 1, the Rose-Red Tyrant. I'm not sure how long this will be or when the next chapter will be up. But there's plenty of differences involved so I hope it'll be okay. A warning for this series is that the Great Seven are not as they are portrayed in the movies- which don't exist in my series. There probably won't be any mirror friend, nor as I've established, is that mirror from the game relevant to the story as I've replaced it with the Dark Mirror. Hopefully this all works out.

Also, the stories for the Great Seven in this series is different a bit from the ones in the game. But I made that clear considering how I wrote out some of the Sorcerer of the Sands' story in the very first story. Another note, Yuukio's nicknames are Yuu and Yuuki, so they're interchangeable with Yuukio throughout the story. Until the next chapter! Thanks for Reading!

Summary:

An unexpected visit from Ace wakes Yuukio up the night before their first day of classes, revealing that he ran into trouble with his housewarden by breaking a rule. Yuukio decides to help him to correct his mistake, but the situation only gets worse with another rule forgotten...

With their Heartslabyul friends, Yuukio and Grim face an unexpected challenge, making more allies along the way. And because Yuukio wants to try keeping to his word, he enlists some help from his twin when it starts to get a little too tense.

Abrupt Awakening

Yuukio looks around at the familiar void. He knows this place well. He blinks at the mirror that appears before him. And watches as the surface ripples. He takes a deep breath and steps through it. He blinks, adjusting to the bright light before looking around at the beautiful garden full of roses.

He enjoys the scent, as powerful as it can be at times on the wind. He tilts his head when he hears a commotion and follows it into a small clearing in the maze before him. He takes in the sight before him. Card like soldiers painting roses and happily singing about losing their heads?

He shakes his head with a bemused chuckle, silently walking through the mess and avoiding the splatters of paint that unfortunately dot the normally immaculate grass. He's not prepared though, for the angry and horrified shout. "Who's been painting my roses?!"

Yuukio shot up in bed, groaning at the headache that came with the abrupt awakening. He groaned at the banging that reverberates around his skull, only to blink when he realizes it's coming from the front door. Not his head. Seeing Grim still sleeping on, he knows it's got to be Ace or Deuce at his door. Grim reacts even a little bit to the presence of his family after all.

Sighing he made his way down the stairs and to the front door. "Who is it?" He calls, just to be on the safe side.

"It's Ace. Can you let me in?" The ginger sounds both exhausted and upset. Yuukio sighs again and pulls the door open with a groan. And there is his bed headed ginger friend dressed in casual clothes that are clearly the boy's pajamas, his school bag on his shoulder, a bit fuller than just books or materials. And around his neck is a heart shaped collar half black, half red with gold lining and a little heart padlock on the front securely closing the two halves.

"What the underworld happened to you?" Yuukio can't help but ask.

"My house warden. That's what." Ace fumed. "So, I'm staying here with you." Yuukio sighed and offered entrance to his friend.

"What happened, exactly?" Yuukio asked, leading the other boy to his lounge. Ace grumbled before sighing.

"I didn't eat dinner with how late it was before we got back to the dorm. So, I went into the kitchen to find something to nibble. Just to tide me over until breakfast. Well, there were three big, strawberry tarts. And I thought just a slice wouldn't be noticed."

"Oh Ace." Yuukio buried his face in his hands. "If that's your thought process, it shouldn't have been something that's whole."

"I know! I know! But they just looked so good, and I was famished." Ace whined, understanding his mistake.

"What then, since I'm guessing you ate a slice of tart."

"The house warden showed up while I was talking to myself-"

"So, you're mental? Got it." Yuukio teased, getting a spluttering blush from the other.

"I'm not mental!"

"You were talking to yourself while eating a pilfered tart Ace. Sounds a little mental." Yuukio chuckled. "Alright what's next."

Blushing and grumbling, Ace continued his story. "I was commenting on how good it was." He paused, expecting the other to say something but he remained silent. "And then the house warden was there. Agreeing with me. Stating how Trey made them- whoever that is- so of course they were good. Then began to spout about how it was against the rules to eat a tart without the Queen's permission, and it was all 'Off With Your Head.' I was kicked out. Now here I am." Ace finished.

"That's a lot to take in." Yuukio mused. "You didn't apologize for eating the tart. So that should be your first move if you want whatever that is off." Yuukio nodded towards the collar.

"I can't use my magic." Ace admitted in a small voice that even after only a day, Yuukio knows isn't his friend. Yuukio rubbed the other's head in an affectionate gesture.

"We're going to get some sleep first. Then we can look into what comes next. It's not a terrible thing since you're not supposed to use magic for the rest of the night anyways."

"This is so terrible!" Ace whined. "This is tyranny Yuuki. Tyranny! Rosehearts is a tyrant." He fumed, getting a chuckle from Yuukio who's more than happy to see Ace's return to normal.

"Of course. Get some sleep." Yuukio huffed with amusement.

"You're coming with me to apologize." Ace warned before glancing at the lounge sofa Yuukio was gesturing towards. "Um... It's a little dusty. Ain't it?" Ace grimaced.

"Just needs a little cleaning." Yuukio replied.

"Yuukio, let me sleep with you please?" Ace whined, giving the older boy puppy dog eyes as he clung to his arm. "I'm real slim so I won't take up much space. Please? I'm so tired and I don't want to clean. Please?"

Yuukio was struck by how absolutely pitiful the taller boy looked and unfortunately, it reminded him far too much of both Sebek and his father. Yuukio sighed. "Fine. Come on." He gave in.

"Yay!" Yuukio sighed again. It really did remind him of both his father and Sebek. Hopefully Ace wouldn't take up half the bed the way his father would. How the smaller Faye took up more space than the bigger half Faye Yuukio still wasn't sure.

Night Raven College

Silver had left Diasomnia early so he could make sure his brother was awake in time for classes. Last night had been therapeutic and the family had needed it. But there was still healing ahead of them and that meant staying in touch and spending time together when they could.

He can't help the small smile as he remembers the others' pouts at him winning the rock paper scissors game. Even Malleus. But Silver had been determined to be the one to show up on Yuu's first day of classes.

He's already across the bridge when he hears a shout behind him. "Yuukio! Wait!" Silver stops on instinct from how often this has happened before and turns to face the blue haired boy that had faced a phantom with his twin just the night before. "Oh! You're not-" the boy, Spade, Silver believes- blushes. "Sorry! From the back you guys look really alike, even with the length difference." He apologizes profusely.

"It's fine. It was a lot like that growing up." Silver says awkwardly. "Are you going to fetch Yuukio too?"

"Um, Yuukio and Ace, yeah."

"That was the Trappola boy, right?" Silver asks as the two continue to make their way towards the dorm in the distance.

"Yeah."

"Why would he be with Yuukio?" Silver wonders.

"He ran into some trouble with our House Warden this morning. And I think he went to stay with Yuuki." Deuce admitted with a shake of his head.

Silver hummed at that before the duo were finally reaching the building his brother was staying in. He stopped dead. "This is what the head mage has my brother staying in?" Silver asked no one in particular. Just a deep seeded disbelief. He would need to tell their father because surely this wasn't acceptable accommodations for a student!

The duo made their way up the path a little faster and Deuce knocked on the door. Grim was the one who opened it.

"Morning humans. The others are up the stairs first door on the left." Grim told them before making his way to the kitchen. As the duo followed the directions given, Silver was relieved to notice it was a bit nicer and more put together on the inside at least. So, his baby brother wasn't living in a building completely void of any repairs.

Silver and Deuce approached the door Grim told them and entered without knocking, assuming the other two were a wake. And while Deuce was a bit surprised by the sight inside, he didn't pay enough attention to care as he began to berate the ginger for his ability to get into trouble.

Silver meanwhile was fighting against the visceral urger to kick the ginger boy out of his baby brother's bed where the duo were cuddled up together. He shook his head, swore that the rest of their family could never find out about this, then focused on Yuukio while Deuce grabbed onto Ace and pulled.

"I'm up Deuce! I'm up!" The ginger grumbled, climbing out of the warm, if worn bed.

Silver sighed and shook his brother's shoulder. "Wake up Yuukio." Silver encouraged. Pale auroral peaked open and looked into lighter mirrors.

"Silver?" Yuukio asked with a sleep filled voice.

"Yeah. Wake up." Silver smiled. Yuukio groaned and in an impressive show of strength, grabbed Silver and pulled him into the bed. Silver yelped as he found himself in the bed. Feeling the warmth still settled in the covers and the reassuring presence of his brother who he had missed for half a decade, his sleep daze came on quickly.

Ace and Deuce had looked over at hearing their upper-classman's yelp. Only to blink in disbelief at how quickly he had fallen asleep next to Yuukio. The twins were both breathing deeply as they had fallen back to sleep.

"What do we do?" Deuce asked, unsure after a few minutes passed. Ace had no clue.

"Fu. Fu. Fu." A voice chuckled above them, causing the two Heartslabyul freshmen to yelp as they glanced up to see Lilia Vanrouge. The student from orientation that had shouted at Yuukio.

"This is too precious." The student cooed, grabbing up the ghost camera gifted to Yuukio the night before. He took about a dozen photos before pulling out his cell phone and taking twice as many with that and sharing the photos in at least two different message groups. Magenta eyes glanced over at the two bemused freshmen.

"This actually happened all the time when they were growing up. You could never rely on one to wake up the other. Because they both would end up back asleep whether it be on the couch, in a chair, or even in their bed. It's why I came. To make sure Silver and Yuukio would actually be awake for their classes." He explained. They nodded wondering how the other was going to do that.

The apparently obvious answer was snapping his fingers and drenching both in a down pour of water getting shouts of alarm and cries from the twins who tumbled out of bed. Both looking like drowned cats. Making the other cackle even more as he took another dozen photos.

Yuukio grumbled something into his arms that almost sounded like a drawn-out dad. Silver meanwhile just began to dry himself and Yuukio off with his own magic. "Oh, how I've missed this." Lilia muttered too softly for the humans to hear, though Yuukio and Silver did look at him with soft eyes, probably feeling that same warmth that he was. "Up and at 'em boys. You have your first day of classes today!" He said with excitement.

"Yes sir." The duo said with some amusement. Yuukio glanced at Ace's phone which had been on the bed side table. There was about an hour and some minutes before classes would begin.

"Alright, Ace. You can go ahead and get dressed first. I'll see about making something quick for breakfast. You can just put your extra clothes on the dresser there so you're not lugging them around all day. The showers are across the hall." Yuukio told the ginger who nodded and began to do just that.

"The rest of you come with me."

"So, why exactly is Mr. Trappola sharing a room with you, Yuukio?" Lilia asked curiously as they entered the lounge, the man floating through the air like normal.

"He slept with me last night." Yuukio answered, missing the Faye falling to the ground with a thud in shock.

"What?!" Lilia choked out, looking at Silver with wide, horrified eyes. Lilia knows it's not how it sounded but just hearing that sentence from his little baby Yuu had him in a flurry of fatherly panic.

"Yeah, he came over early this morning. Apparently, he had a run in with his house warden over a tart?" Yuukio looked over at Deuce who nodded. "He got kicked out, so I let him stay with me." Yuukio unknowingly set his father at ease as he grabbed out several eggs, milk, and some cheese and tortillas. Egg burritos would have to do for the morning. He also grabbed a can of tuna and emptied it onto a plate for Grim. "Morning my little Grim-lin."

"Morning Yuu-Yuu." Grim retorted with a smirk. "There's an ocean behind the dorm below the cliff. I figured we could go hunting later." Grim informed the other.

"Good idea. We should always keep a fresh stock of sea food considering how much of it you eat, and how much it costs in stores." Yuukio mused, heating up the stove that Crowley had had the magnanimity to fix.

"And you wanted to go cliff jumping again so this seems pretty perfect since we went cliff climbing just yesterday." Grim added.

"You did what?" Deuce asked, not sure he had heard that right.

"Climbed the cliff outside yesterday when I was trying to avoid the family. Scared the poor Shroud brothers." Yuukio admitted.

"Scared them? They scared you and you fell from the cliff. If Ortho hadn't caught you, you would have gone splat." Grim pointed out.

"You almost died day one on campus?" Silver asked, brows furrowed. Lilia looked like he was going to have a heart attack.

"Nope. I was caught before I could almost die." Yuukio pointed out.

"You went cliff jumping?" Lilia asked, wanting to desperately change the topic.

"Um, more like we were running from a really big monster. And the only way to escape the monster was jumping from a really tall cliff and into a stormy sea below. We got saved by a mer person before we drowned, thankfully." Yuukio explained.

"You're never allowed to go anywhere without me ever again." Lilia said, mind reeling.

"Good luck." Silver grumbled. They both knew that wasn't going to be easy to enforce.

"Thanks Yuuki." Ace said, joining them in the kitchen, just as Yuukio had finished the burritos and passed them out.

"Thank you."

"Alright, I'm going to get ready then me and you are going to head to Heartslabyul so you can apologize. If I remember correctly, Heartslabyul is based off the Queen of Hearts, right?" Yuukio asked the duo.

"It is."

"Alright, be ready Ace. There might be a rule or something we aren't realizing. So, a simple apology might not work no matter how sincere it is."

"Got it."

"I wish they gave us a pamphlet or something so we could study them." Deuce sighed.

"Maybe we can bring that up to the House Warden. Or maybe I can bring it up to Head Mage Crowley during our meeting today."

"You have a meeting with that crow? Why wasn't I informed?" Lilia asked miffed. It was like everyone was forgetting that Yuukio was his son. Not an orphan or foster child that the staff of the school could have shared custody over.

"It's just to discuss my possibly working at Sam's Shop and to discuss my schedule. Not having magic means that while Grim is doing the practical classes, I'll be taking a different elective at the time, to get the full effect of our schooling."

"When is this meeting?" Lilia asked.

"Um, directly after lunch which is apparently one of my breaks." Yuukio answered, finishing his burrito.

"I'll be joining you." Lilia said, leaving no room for argument. "Now go get dressed. I'll escort you all to the Hall of Mirrors. I need to make sure the Diasomnia freshmen are up and ready for classes."

"Alright." Yuukio ran off. He shared a similar school uniform to the others, but as the head of his dorm, it did differ some. He wore slim, black rider slacks with three gold lines encircling his thigh though he did have a clip attachment on the black belt to hold his whip- which lacked its bladed tip while on campus. Of course, the light gray leather would still inflict substantial pain and even slice flesh if he wanted to. It was similar to how Silver's uniform had a holster for his baton, which his mage stone was set to. He wore heeled black loafers similar to the ones his father wore.

The biggest difference though was the top of his school uniform. He wore a long-sleeved cerulean blue- matching Grim's flames- button up blouse that was longer in the back with some slight ruffling giving it more of a dress-like quality which didn't bother Yuukio who had accepted the more feminine looks he had gotten despite Silver's more masculine ones. He still isn't sure how their features could look so alike and yet portray completely different images. The blouse also had a slim hood.

He wore a slate gray vest with gold buttons and gold lining and a black and white striped bow. His jacket was the same black as the others, though he did have a bright blue cat head pin where his pen would go. His school jacket was black as well with three gold buttons which he buttoned up. Over his bicep was his ribbon, which was black and white, even tattered like Grim's ribbon, but with the school's actual emblem on it- an open winged raven clutching two magical pens in its talons- and Ramshackle written out in an amusing nod to what he and Grim had begun to refer to their dorm as.

Once that was done, he quickly pulled his hair up into a low horse tail with a simple black ribbon. Nodding at how he passed his inspection, he grabbed up his book bag and headed down to the rest of the group. "I'm ready!" He called to them.

"Wonderful. Oh, don't you look precious!" Lilia squealed taking several more pictures- some including Silver. The twins just accepted it. After about ten minutes, they finally made their way to the Hall of Mirrors, Yuukio and Grim calling out a goodbye to their ghostly roommates. It was finally time to start the morning.
