Digimon Story: The Next Order

A month has passed since the world went back to normal. Six chosen ones fought with Digimon to save two worlds. Little did they know that defeating the Eaters was not the end of it. A new threat has appeared in the Digital World. Now the Cyber Sleuths and their friends are on the case to save Digimon from a war. ...And new allies join them from close by and somewhere VERY far way.

87. Chapter 87: The Final Omega

Kiryu stared at the monitor in Hosaka's office. "I'll be damned…looks like I really can reach back home from here."

BlitzGreymon looked at him in concern. "Kiryu?"

Kiryu hit a button on his Digivice he had on the desk. There was a ringing sound resembling a phone line reaching out. He quietly stared at it waiting. "…Kiryu?" a young lady appeared on the monitor. "Is that you Kiryu?!"

The screen split showing the girl's brother. "Dude, are you alright?! What's going on?!"

"Satome…Yuki…" Kiryu's eyes were empty and saddened. "All my life I wanted just one thing…to keep my little brother safe and happy. The whole reason why I came to this world to fight this war was to ensure his peace of mind. But now…now I learn that all I've been doing all this time was aiding those responsible for his torment and adding to his suffering. Not only that…I have played a hand in something horrible that is about to happen."

"What on earth are you talking about?" Yuki asked.

"Despite my best efforts, all my attempts to make things right…have just caused more pain and suffering and now…I don't even know what to do, or what to believe anymore…"

Satome's eyes saddened. "Kiryu…"

"I don't know where it went wrong. I followed orders just like my grandfather did. I thought if I emulated him, I would succeed in my mission just as he always did his…but…if all I'm doing is causing Subaru and the entire world pain…what am I supposed to do? How can I undo my past failures…if I cannot stop myself from creating new ones?"

Yuki sighed. "Kiryu, listen. I don't know what's going on here or what it is you and your little bro have been through. But lemme tell you what I do know. There is no undoing the past. That's pretty much set in stone at this point. But you shouldn't let your past dictate your future. That's why you're regretting what you're doing now."

"Then what am I to do Yuki? Just forget the past? I can't do that even if it were possible at this point. Did that before, it just left me afraid and confused about what Subaru's going through."

"Whoa, slow down there. When did I say you should forget it? Like I said, the past is set in stone. Ignoring it isn't going to do anything for you either. All I'm saying is don't base all your choices on what's behind you. Try thinking about what lies ahead."

"What do you mean?"

"Well…earlier you mentioned you wanted to get at a witch who did something to Subaru. But think about it. Getting back at her wouldn't undo what she already did. You knew that wouldn't affect the future. You made that choice with your mind in the past."

"He's right Kiryu." Satome said. "And think about it…did Subaru ask you to do that? Were you really going to get revenge for him? Or did you want to get revenge just to make yourself feel better about the past?" Kiryu looked downward.

"And hey…I know you spent your life idolizing your grandpa and his ideals, and I get soldiers are to follow orders. But don't you think that kind of mindset dulls your free will?"

"My…free will?"

"I doubt your grandpa was some kind of robot Kiryu. He had feelings and thoughts of his own. I'm sure he only followed his orders because he believed they were the right thing to do. Maybe instead of just doing what others tell you, you should consider deciding yourself what the best course of action is. If you don't know who to believe in…then you should start by believing in yourself."

Kiryu looked away. "Can I…can I be trusted to make such choices? After all my mistakes…"

"Of course, you can!" Satome replied. "Kiryu, I know you're a strong person who only wants what's best for those he loves! And if you have made mistakes that you feel bad for…well, who said mistakes can't be learnt from? It's like Yuki said, don't fixate on the past! Start looking towards the future!"

"Exactly." Yuki replied. "Ask yourself Kiryu. What do you think is the right thing to do? What do you think will make the future brighter for you and Subaru?"

Kiryu closed his eyes thinking deeply on the situation. After about a full minute of silence he spoke. "Thank you…Yuki…Satome…I think I understand now what I have to do."

Yuki grinned. "Hey man, your burdens don't have to be yours alone. You can lean on us once and a while."

"Right." Satome chirped. "If anyone deserves it, it's you. But…just promise you'll come back soon. We've been worried all this time, you know…"

"Not to mention your old man. Who miiiiight have found out about your… "after school" sessions to help Subaru behind his back and hired a detective to come looking for you."

Kiryu smiled. "…I have one more thing to take care of in this world. Then I'm coming home."

"Sounds like a plan." Yuki said. "Latter bro."

"Come home safe Kiryu!" Satome said with an emotional tone.

BlitzGreymon and CresGarurumon stared at Kiryu as he ended the call. "Kiryu…know that whatever you believe in…" BlitzGryemon spoke.

"Is what we will support as well." CresGarurumon replied. "We believe in you. So, trust us when we say you can believe in yourself."

"Thank you." Kiryu said. "And this time…I plan to make the right choice. Let's go. We're off for the Mountain of Infinity."

"Kiryu…" Yuuko whispered. She and her friends were still trapped inside the giant barrier and could only look at the hacker on the other side.

"What is he doing here?!" Agunimon gapped.

Beelzemon chuckled. "…I knew it."

Kiryu looked at his Digivice. "…Good. It seems the program I created worked just as planned."

"So, it was you who interfered with my justice?!" Leopardmon glared. "How?!"

"When I found out Hosaka was gathering Digital Waves, I figured he had nefarious ends. So, while I was "helping" him, I installed a program I created that would absorb Digital Waves."

"Impossible! Hosaka assured me he did this alone and undiscovered!"

"Cute. And you took him for his word knowing he was a malevolent hacker?" Kiryu asked taking joy in Leopardmon's reaction. "How ironic. You're quest to eliminate humans was thwarted by you trusting the lowest among them."

"Curse you…how dare you, a lowly human…betray a king!"

Kiryu glared. "Who betrayed who Leopardmon? I believe part of our agreement was that the Next Order's activities would bring my world no harm. You were planning to betray me from the beginning."

Murmurs broke out from the Next Order. "The King lied to him?" a Hunakumon asked.

"I see no reason to honor oaths to your ignorant kind!" Leopardmon snarled. "So long as my ambitions are achieved for this world, then I will do what I must to see them to fruition!"

Kiryu glanced around him. "And what of the rest of you?" he asked looking at the Next Order. "Are all of you content with what your "king" is doing? I couldn't help but notice that some of you were hesitant to attack the human world. And the moment one of you spoke up Leopardmon killed them in cold blood. Can you truly trust a king who lies, murders, and betrays just to get what he wants?" Silance hung over the Next Order troops.

"Do not head to this fool's words!" Leopardmon shouted. "He is a human! Just like those who nearly doomed us all!"

Kiryu glanced back at Takumi and the others. "It is true. Takumi, Ami, Arata, Nokia, Yuuko, and Yuugo were responsible for a disaster that harmed many humans and Digimon. Including my little brother. But…they at least they acknowledge their mistakes and fight to atone for them. And then there's you Leopardmon. Who blames others when things go wrong and repeats his previous mistakes. So, who does that make the fool? Those humans didn't need to risk their lives to for the Digimon in the Resistance, but they chose to anyway. Why do you suppose that is? Perhaps what this world needs isn't a dictator who starts wars on multiple worlds and cuts down anyone who disagrees with him without mercy. Maybe it just needs people who can acknowledge when they go wrong and try to help those truly in need."

"Kiryu..." Sayo murmered.

"And to that end, who cares if they're human or Digimon?! I've seen enough selfless souls and selfish fools among both races to know that each member of either one can be a good or vile being!" Kiryu pointed at you Leopardmon. "And you, Leopardmon…are a venom to both worlds. Until you are defeated all life human and Digimon alike is threatened! That is why I have come here…to put an end to you, your reign, and your war!"

"You dare threaten the king of the Digital World?! Next Order, dispose of this vermin!"

A roar directed Kiryu towards three Harpymon soaring at him. "Kiryu, watch out!" Fei shouted as BlitzGreymon and CresGarurumon stood in front of Kiryu ready to protect him.

Then three gunshots were fired and the Harpymon disappeared. "Huh?" Takuto blinked.

"What NOW?!" Leopardmon growled.

A Baalmon had his gun held forward. "To hell with you AND your Next Order! I'm tired of all of this shit!"

A Knightmon turned to him. "You dare!?" He drew his sword but froze when a golden blade was held at his throat.

"I'm with you Baalmon!" A Duramon shouted. "I joined under the promise that we'd be bringing eternal peace to our world! Not declaring war on others!"

"Have you gone mad?!" a Sagittarimon shouted. "The Next Order is justice! You would turn your back on the principles that would save us all?!"

"Save us?!" a Weddinmon skeptically asked. "From what?! The Eaters are gone! Everything was fine and dandy for our world until Leopardmon started this war!"

"The humans could create new Eaters at any time!" a Vilemon retorted.

"You don't know that!" a Armormon said. "They don't want the Eaters back any more then we do!"

A Astamon shot him. "The King has spoken! If he decides that the humans must die, then so be it!"

A Dominmon slashed him with his glowing green sword. "I thought that what we were doing was right…that Leopardmon would lead us to a new era of prosperity…but a king who would lie to his subjects and extinguish an entire race is not to be trusted!"

"Yeah! A King who seeks constant destruction and betrays his oaths is no King of mine!" a WaruMonzeamon added.

"Oh my…" Boltboutamon said as tension grew. "This could get ugly."

"It seems your grip on the Digital World isn't a strong as you'd like to believe Leopardmon." Kiryu said.

"So, it would seem…to think this many would turn their backs on their king…" Lepardmon snarled.
He held up his sword. "To my loyal warriors! If you truly are brave enough to stand with the Next Order, then kill these defectors!"

The Next Order army immediately broke into battle among themselves. The Resistance couldn't believe it. "The Next Order is…falling apart?" Ami asked. "Just like that?!"

"Not surprising." Alphamon said. "Leopardmon has been exposed as a lier, a warmonger, and a backstabber. How could there not be distrust in his ranks after seeing his true colors?"

"How quick you are to resort to violence to have your way." Kiryu said. "As if it wasn't bad enough you killed your own king for power."

"King Drasil allowed the Eaters to spread!" Leopardmon retorted. "He failed us as our king and paid for his failure!"

"True. But I think you're forgetting something Leopardmon. As the self-proclaimed strongest and greatest tactician of the Royal Knights you also failed your duty to protect the king from the Eaters. So, for your punishment in failing your duty and taking out your anger on your world and mine…" Kiryu held up his hand and his Digimon prepared for battle. "Are you prepared to face judgment?"

"Arrogant human…!" Leopardmon drew his sword and dashed at Kiryu.

"Elect Guard!" BlitzGreymon rushed in front of the knight and projected a shield he bounced off of.

CresGarurumon leapt up and took a swipe at Leopardmon knocking him away. "If you wish to do Kiryu harm, rest assured you will only do so after you destroy us!"

"Foolish traitors!" Leopardmon pointed his sword at the two Digimon. "You would turn your backs on your king and your world for a human?!"

"You were never our king Leopardmon." BlitzGreymon replied. "Our loyalty to you was out of respect to Kiryu's will at the time. If he decides you are his enemy, we will destroy you."

"Why would you choose him over your world?! Over your government?!"

"Because Kiryu is our reason for being alive right now." BltizGreymon replied. "For being who we are right now. And even at his worst, he's better then you or your so called "government" could ever pray to be!"

Kiryu snapped his fingers. "Skip Frame!" Leopardmon anticipated the strike and held his sword forward to block CresGarurumon's spear.

Inside their trap the Resistance watched. "Can Kiryu really do it?" Shoma asked. "Can he defeat Leopardmon?"

"He does have two powerful Digimon…" Mameo replied. "One of which has a type advantage."

"But Leopardmon has that X-Antibody!" Hudiemon replied. "When Crusadermon used hers, she nearly killed him!"

Yuuko stared at Kiryu's back. "…It'll be fine."

The group looked at her. "What makes you so certain?" Sistermon Ceil (Awake) asked.

Yuuko smiled. "Kiryu went through what I did. And like me he has risen as a stronger person because of it."

Lobomon grinned. "Yeah. This isn't Brother Sorrow anymore. This is the real Kiryu Tenjo!"

BlitzGreymon glowed gold and tackled Leopardmon to the ground. He leapt off the knight as CresGarurumon ran up and leapt at him with his spear. "Black Aura Blast!" Leopardmon blew him away with an energy wave and stood up. BlitzGreymon flew at him from behind, but he turned around and blocked the punch with his sword then kicked him skyward. He flew up at BlitzGreymon ready for a thrust.

"Freeze Frame!" Kiryu snapped his fingers and paused Leopardmon. "CresGarurumon!" His golden Digimon pole vaulted with his spear to kick Leopardmon in the back.

Leopardmon growled as he hit the ground. "Don't get cocky just because you have forbidden programs!" Leopardmon stood up and put his sword into the ground. "Speed Break Field!" BliztGreymon and CresGarurumon slowed down as they advanced towards Leopardmon who then rushed up and thrusted his sword into CresGarurumon then turned around and slashed BlitzGreymon. He landed behind them and held his sword up. "Shinning Lasser!" Both were struck from above with light. He turned around to look at them as they dropped to their knees. "How's that?"

BlitzGreymon stood up. "Weak."

Leopardmon's eyes widened. "What did you…?"

"We were present during the fight with King Drasil." CresGarurumon asked. "He wasn't this weak!" He turned around. "Ice Archary!" He shot a dagger of ice at Leopardmon who slashed it in half. But the moment he did so he noticed BlitzGreymon vanished.

"Now." Kiryu ordered.

Right behind Leopardmon BlitzGreymon held his gatling arms out. "Plasma Stake!" He opened fire right into Leopardmon's back.

"Go!" Kiryu said. "Keep up the pressure and continue as we planned!"

CresGarurumon ran up spinning his spear and coating it with ice. "Fury: Ice Moon Fang!" He slashed upwards sending Leopardmon into the air.

BlitzGreymon flew up and aimed his torrents. Leopardmon sought to strike first. "Extinction Wave!"

"Skip Frame!" Kiryu snapped his fingers and BlitzGreymon moved behind the knight again evading the attack.

"Thunder Vernier!" BlitzGreymon fired down slamming Leopardmon into the dirt.

CresGarurumon spun like a tornado. "Beast Cyclone!" He sucked Leopardmon into the vortex and shot him back into the air. BlitzGreymon landed in front of his partner as Leoparmdon started to come down between them and they dashed smashing him from both sides as they brushed through.

"Amazing!" Luche gleamed.

"Kiryu's Digimon are stronger then ever before!" Yuugo exclaimed. "How did he gain such power in such a short amount of time?!"

"This is impossible…" Leopardmon growled. "I'm the King! Insolent curs like you cannot do this to the savior of the Digital World!"

"You're full of shit!" Kiryu shouted. "You don't give a damn about saving this world, you just want to let your anger out on others!"

"What?!"

"The Eaters are gone! This world was at peace before you decided to kill your king and start a war! The human world was broken off from this one until you decided to evade it to advance your conquest! All you've done is take lives and torment others for your own satisfaction! So how can what you're doing be "saving" anything?! You are nothing more then an egotistic and spiteful terrorist!"

"Kiryu…" Ami murmured.

Leopardmon punched the ground. "How dare you speak that way to me you filth! I will show you…a king's true power!" He roared as a red x glowed over his body.

"Here it comes…" Kouta cringed.

"RAAAAAAAAH!" Leopardmon glowed white and emerged as Leopardmon X. "Now Kiryu…It is you who will face judgment today!" He held his sword in both hands. "Once I purge you and the rest of the traitors in my army…I will find a way to shut down your annoying program and bring judgment upon the human race!"

"Your justice is as phony as your promises!" Kiryu glared. "I won't let someone swallowed by their own pride have their was with an either world!"

"ENOUGH!" Leopardmon X charged past BlitzGreymon slashing him repeatedly.

"Fury: Ice Moon Fang!" CresGarurumon leapt at Leopardmon X swinging his spear down, but it was blocked easily.

"Hmph. Black Aura Blast!" He blew CresGarurumon away.

"Plasma Stake!" BlitzGreymon fired at Leopardmon X, but he deflected every shot with amazing speed and his sword.

Leopardmon X pointed his blade at him. "Holy Light!" A powerful glow struck BlitzGreymon down.

"Freeze Frame!" Kiryu snapped his fingers at Leopardmon X who was unaffected.

"Extinction Wave!" Leopardmon X turned around and his attack went for his Digimon again.

BlitzGreymon flew in front of Kiryu with CresGarurumon. "Elect Guard!" BlitzGreymon created a barrier while CresGarurumon stood in front of Kiryu holding his spear out. But the Elect Guard was torn through like cardboard and struck them both down.

"BlitzGreymon!" Kiryu yelled. "CresGarurumon!"

"It's no use…" Arata gritted his teeth. "Leopardmon's just too powerful…"

Ami grunted trying to pull free from the vines around her. "If one of us could just get free…!"

Leopardmon X pointed his sword at Kiryu. "This is the end of your rebellion. You should have accepted your place Kiryu. Just like the rest of this world. I don't have any need for someone who's opinions interfere with justice be they human or Digimon. All I need are soldiers who will follow my lead with no questions asked."

Kiryu's glare gazed downward. "A soldier's top priority is his orders. If he cannot follow those orders, he will lose what he swore to protect…I believed that until now…But…my friends told me…that that mindset dulls free will. Prevented me from thinking on my own when I needed to. Looking back…maybe that's why I have so many regrets…or maybe it's because…I spent so much time regretting the past. Kyoko Kuremi told me that Takumi and I are similar. We both are haunted by the past. We both fight for our loved ones. So, I did what she suggested and asked myself: What does he have, that I don't?" He closed his eyes and lowered his head.

"Kiryu…it was never Crusadermon who was making you work for the Next Order. Or your desire to help your brother. It's your obsession with the past!"

"You set off to make Yuuko suffer for what happened to Subaru, but the one you're hurting more then her, then anyone, is yourself! Because you still cling to the past, to your regret obsessively!"

"If we ignore sadness, ignore the past… then nothing will ever change in the future. So, we'll take what happened in our pasts, rise above it and make a future that's better for everyone!"

Kiryu's eyes opened. "Now I know. What he has is a vision for the future. A cause of his own that he will continue to chase until he obtains it! One he thinks that will protect others from the same kind of mistakes we made!" From inside the shield Takumi smiled at Kiryu as he continued, looking at his hand. "Someone like me…blinded by the past…just doing what my superiors tell me without thinking…is deprived of such a thing. Between Zaxon and the Next Order, I spent so much time fighting for causes I never fully understood or believed in and did what I claimed was best for Subaru, when it was really just what I wanted for myself."

Leopardmon X stared at him. "And your point is?"

"From this point forward, I'll fight for what I believe is right! To ensure a brighter future for not just Subaru but both our worlds! And for that Leopardmon…I won't let you terrorize anyone with your tyranny any longer!"

Yuuko and the others watched. "Kiryu…!"

BlitzGreymon stood up. "And wherever Kiryu goes…we will follow. We will be his sword, his shield, and his trustworthy companions!"

CresGarurumon got back to his feet. "Because we believe in him…our human partner! Which is why we choosing to fight for him to our last breath!"

"Thank you both." Kiryu said taking out his Digivice. "This time…know your faith in me will not be misplaced. None of yours will…" He could see the faces of Yuki, Satome, and Subaru in his screen. "I will no longer wallow in the past. But rather use it as a guideline to set all of this right! Haaaaaaaa!" Kiryu shouted and held up his Digivice. Glowing circles formed as light flowed out of it. His two Digimon behind him roared. "BlitzGreymon!" BlitzGreymon's body retracted into his head with golden eyes and flew leaving a trail of golden thunder. "CresGarurumon!" CresGarurumon's body retracted into his head as his eyes flashed red and he and flew leaving behind red electricity. "Embrace my newfound will and evolve!" His two Digimon spiraled around each other as they flew up then collided into a burst of light.

"Ugh!" Leopardmon X shielded his eyes. "What is…?!"

The Resistance inside the barrier was blinded at first. The Next Order stopped their battle to watch in awe. Takuto was the first to look through the glow. "No way!"

Kiryu brushed his bangs aside with his left hand then swung his left arm to the side looking forward with his head tilted to the lower left. Behind him a new Digimon swung his arm to the left mimicking his partners pose. He had a white body, a flowing black cape, and three red horns. His left arm had a red shield with golden spikes, and his hand was BlitzGreymon's head. His right arm had a golden, spiked pauldron and his left hand was CresGarurumon's head. His eyes glowed blue. Shoma gasped. "Is that…"

"An Omegamon?!" Nokia gapped.

"Who are you?!" Leopardmon X shouted.

The Digimon behind Kiryu spoke. "I am Omegamon Alter-S. I was reborn from Kiryu's willpower and beliefs."

"Omegamon…Alter-S?" Takuto asked.

"This power…" Noir gasped. "Is he…the Enforcer of this Digital World?!"

"Leopardmon." Kiryu glared. "Your phony justice ends here."

"A human…dares mock the judgement of the King of the Digital World?!" Leopardmon X roared charging at Kiryu rather then the new Digimon. But Omegamon Alter-S flew up and threw his cape at Leopardmon X, knocking him off balance then punched him in the head flinging him back. He stopped himself and held his blade forward. "Heaven's Thunder!"

"Hmph!" Omegamon Alter-S held his left shoulder forward and his shield emitted and electrical barrier around him. He held his left hand forward and the barrier flew into Leopardmon X zapping him. Once the knight shook it off, he charged again. Kiryu activated his Bug program on Omegamon Alter-S as he held his right shoulder forward. "Ice Archary!" Multiple extended icicles appeared and started spinning around him knocking Leopardmon X back again. He held his right arm forward and his ice skewers flew at Leopardmon X who shattered a few with his sword before three of them slashed him. Omegamon Alter-S held his left hand forward and the glowing gold BlitzGreymon eyes flashed gold and fired twin beams into the knight.

When Leopardmon X hit the ground, everyone was in awe. "Amazing…" Kouta breathed.

"Kiryu and his Digimon are incredible!" Keisuke gleamed.

"That's more like the Kiryu we knew." Agunimon smiled.

"Yeah. Brother Sorrow wouldn't have been capable of this." Lobomon grinned.

"He's a far cry from the punk we met that day." Fei muttered.

"Yeah." Yuuko smiled. "You truly surpassed me Kiryu…"

Leopardmon X growled. "How dare you…!" He dashed at Kiryu again, but Omegamon Alter-S grabbed his Tamer and took for the sky with Kiryu standing on his left shoulder. Leoparmon X dashed at them. "Eine Billion!" He started stabbing Alter-S repeatedly.

Omegamon Alter-S crossed his arms to shield himself but soon his guard broke, and he was stabbed repeatedly. "Kiryu!" Yuuko, Fei, Agunimon and Lobomon shouted.

"Evolve all you want!" Leopardmon X shouted continuing his frenzy. "You will still lose to the true king!"

Kiryu closed his eyes. His body started to feel pain. 'I promised…'

Omegamon Alter-S focused. 'I am not losing anything…'

'Ever again!'

Leopardmon X went for one mighty thrust. But Omegamon Alter-S moved his head to the side. As the blade moved past him Takumi noticed Kiryu was leaning away with his eyes closed. "Did he just…?"

Kiryu clenched his right hand into a fist and thrusted it forward as Omegamon Alter-S threw a punch into Leoparmdon X's gut making him gasp. The Enforcer spun around kicking him upward. As Omegamon Alter-S flew up to him again he held back his left fist and punched him further away then held up his right fist flying after him again for another punch. Yuugo noticed Kiryu's movements were matching his Digimon. "He achieved Matrix Link?!"

"Just now on his own?!" Mameo gasped.

Omegamon Alter-S flew ahead of the launched Leopardmon X and punched him downward. The moment the Royal Knight hit the ground Omegamon Alter-S foot dived into him ridding the knight across the dirt like a surfboard before kicking him towards the Nexus Tree. Omegamon Alter-S landed on his feet before Kiryu held his hands outwards. His Digimon did the same with one hand glowing gold and the other red. "Holy Light!" Kiryu shouted with his Digimon throwing the golden light from the right hand. "Burst Flame!" They threw a fireball from the left. The projectiles hit Leopardmon X in succession, and he smashed into the tree. Kiryu and his Digimon held both their hands forward. "Shinning Lasser!" A storm of white beams from Omegamon Alter-S's chest fired into the hole.

Leopardmon X roared bursting out of the tree. He held up his sword and purple light flowed out of the hole into it. "Now what's that maniac up to?" Sakuyamon asked.

Alphamon started at the light. "He's absorbing the Digital Waves in the tree…"

"Is he doing what he attempted last time?!" Yuuko asked.

Leopardmon X's sword extended and glowed purple. "I will destroy you and bring my justice to fruition!"

Kiryu held rotated his right hand in a circle. His Digimon did the same. "Supreme Sword!" They held their right hand out as a giant blade came out of the CresGarurumon mouth. They held their right hand forward and the blade arm back then roared charging. Omegamon Alter-S and Leopardmon clashed swords flying past each other before they turned around and charged again. "The future is set by those who fight for it!" Kiryu and Omegamon Alter-S shouted as they duelled Leopardmon X. "We have chosen to fight for what's best for the future!" They ducked under a swing and went for a thrust that Leopardmon Z deflected. "We'll never let the future be dictated by someone who does only what's right for himself!"

"Kiryu…" Keisuke breathed.

Leopardmon X held his sword back ready to thrust as Kiryu and Omegamon Alter-S descended towards him. Kiryu snapped his fingers. "Freeze Frame!" Leopardmon X paused in mid thrust and the Garuru Sword came down slashing Leopardmon X's blade in half. When Leopardmon X could move again his eyes trembled with shock as he started into Kiryu's serious eyes. Omegamon Alter-S backed up with his sword hand still held inward to his left side from the motion of the slash he just made. Kiryu was in the same pose except for his other hand being held up before snapping his fingers. "Skip Frame." Nobody could even see him and his Digimon move. They just appeared with their sword held out behind Leopardmon X who was now cut down in half. His torso and arms spinning in the air. The knight gasped as his head leaned backwards to see Kiryu and Omegamon Alter-S with their arms crossed and a giant cannon coming out of the BlitzGreymon head that was aimed at him. Light from above pierced the gloomy clouds shining onto Kiryu and his Digimon. "Are you prepared to face judgment?"

"It can't be…!" Leopardmon X gapped.

"Transcendent Cannon!" Kiryu snapped his fingers and he and his Digimon fired a massive red laser.

"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!" Leopardmon X was blown away. His legs evaporated behind him, and his left arm slowly followed. "How can this be…?" Leopardmon X held his remaining hand towards Omegamon Alter-S and Kiryu as it dissolved. "My justice…my Next Order…my reign…all fading away…? Guh…!" He leaned his head back as the rest of him fully dissipated.

The beam kept going and going. Even after it slowly faded Kiryu and Omegamon Alter-S stayed motionless for a bit before they retracted then cannon and sword and lowered their arms as Leopardmon's X-Antibody hit the ground. Kiryu opened his eyes and looked up. "Satome…Yuki…thank you." He smiled slightly. "For the first time…I have no doubt mine was the right choice."

The Resistance was in disbelief. "Leopardmon is…gone…" Gallantmon murmured. "He's really gone…"

"Kiryu…did it…" A smile crept onto Nokia's face. "He freaking did it!"

The fighting in the Next Order was brought to a halt. "The king is…dead…?!" a Soloogarmon gapped.

"He really did it…" a LovelyAngemon whispered.

Kiryu took a deep breath. "Now to give back what you…no, what we took away from this world." Omegamon Alter-S turned to everyone as he landed. "Leopardmon is gone." Kiryu said. "The Next Order has nobody left to lead them. And Project Nexus has been stopped. Seeing as there is no benefit to continuing this madness for either side, I hereby declare this war over. No more lives need to be lost for someone else's pride today. There is no need for Digimon to be at the throats of humans or each other for that matter. Let's put an end to this pointless battle. I for one have no desire to hurt anyone else. But if anyone here still insists on continuing this conflict…I will fight as many of you as I have to in order to bring this to an end."

All the Digimon looked at each other. One by one they lowered their arms. The Resistance was in awe. "Is this really happening?" Shiki asked. "The Next Order is just…giving up?! Just like that?!"

"Now that Leopardmon is gone, they must all see this as meaningless." Kyoko said.

"Digimon have free wills of their own too." Alphamon said. "I imagine a lot of them were just working with Leopardmon because they thought it would be the quickest way to end the fighting. Or maybe some of them think Kiryu defeating Leopardmon means that their "king" was in the wrong."

"Who cares!" Ranamon cheered. "We won! The war's over!" Some of the Resistance started cheering with her.

"Finally…" Magnamon said. "Finally, peace has been brought back to our world! Everyone can live freely!" The two Sistermon went back to their childlike forms and held each others' hands as Ceil spun Blanc around.

"Indeed." Darcmon smiled as Agunimon and Lobomon fist bumped. "This world can finally be free…"

"That's all well and good." Koh smiled before scowling. "But can we do something to free us already?! My arms are falling asleep over here!" With that it was brought to everyone's attention that the humans were still held by vines and that a barrier was trapping each of them.

"Arcadiamon! Argomon!" Kiryu announced as Omegamon Alter-S aproached. "There is no need for you two to fight anymore! Release them!" Neither Digimon moved. "Did you not hear me!?"

Omegamon Alter-S took out his cannon. "They were created to fight. I doubt they will listen to reason. We have no other option."

"Wait!" Yukimura called out. "Were their eyes always red?"

Everyone looked up. The one eye on Arcadiamon's head and the normally yellow eyes Argomon had were now crimson and glowing. "What the hell?" Diaboromon murmured.

"That…doesn't look good." Shiki murmured.

Laughter brought everyone's attention to the Nexus Tree. And someone who was eagerly watching from one of its branches. "Most impressive Enforcer! To think you would go and slay the king! Shoma and Noir have competition it seems."

"Boltboutamon!" Takuto gasped.

"Don't tell me you're planning to start more trouble!" Shiki glared. "Didn't you hear, the war is over!"

"Oh, Leopardmon's war is over alright. And the Next Order has indeed fallen. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted."

"Fun?" Kiryu glared. "Don't tell me that's the reason why you came from your world and joined this war!"

"How shocked would you be if I said yes?"

"I for one would not be in the slightest." Takuto squinted.

"Well, excuuuuuuse Takuto, but life in our world was getting understandably tedious! I show up to cause trouble, you and Shiki smack me down, I retreat then come back, then you two smack me down, then I retreat and come back, then you two smack me down! So yeah, I got tired of losing and you guys getting in the way of me causing chaos! So, I then decided there was only one solution to cure my boredom. Go to a world where the chaos was already brewing and get dipped in a little."

"And so, you joined the Next Order." Ami said.

"How'd you get them to trust a freak like you?!" Himari asked.

Boltboutamon chuckled. "Simple. I made Leopardmon an offer he couldn't refuse." The demonic Digimon held out his hand and something appeared in it. It was a glowing golden orb of 0s and 1s.

"The hell is that?" Fei asked.

"It looks like a Digimon's code." Dinohumon replied.

"Yeah, but it's unlike any I've ever seen." Rosemon Burst Mode added.

Alphamon's eyes widened. "When did…how did you obtain that Boltboutamon?!"

Everyone turned to the knight. "Alphamon?" Kyoko asked. "Do you know what that is?"

Boltboutamon cackled. "I would be surprised if she didn't recognize it. This right here is a sample of Alphamon's DNA!"

"Alphamon's DNA?!" Takumi gasped.

"This is impossible!" Alphamon exclaimed. "You and I never met! And I know there was never a time where my DNA was ever extracted!"

"Hey now…" Boltboutamon looked at the code in his hand. "I said this was Alphamon's DNA. I never said it was yours."

"The hell is that supposed to mean?" MetalSeadramon asked.

Mameo remembered something. "Wait…guys…back in our world, some time before Boltboutamon stopped appearing…didn't our Alphamon say he saw him in Absolute Zero and that they clashed a bit before he ran off?"

"Wait…" Kouta shivered. "So then…?"

"Bingo!" Boltboutamon grinned pointing at him. "This is the DNA of that Alphamon!"

"Of course." the Alphamon with them glared. "So that's how Leopardmon got past the program sealing away VictoryGreymon and ZeedGarurumon and sent them after King Drasil. The seal is unlocked with my DNA. Alphamon DNA."

"That was indeed my reason for grabbing this. But I would later find other uses for this little parting gift from my world! Such as say…creating artificial X-Antibodies!"

"That's how you created all the X-Antibodies for the Next Order?" Yuuko asked.

Gallantmon looked at Alphamon. "Then it's true? You're…"

"…The first natural carrier of the X-Antibody, yes. If anyone's DNA could hold X-Antibody data for the Next Order to harvest it would be mine."

"And you better believe Leopardmon was grateful for it!" Boltboutamon said. "With the position I was given, I could do all sorts of fun experiments all while watching this world fall apart! It was the party of a lifetime! But now that the Next Order is gone…I think it's time I found some new fun. And Leopardmon gave me just the most wonderful way to do so before he kicked the bucket!" Boltboutamon put his hand on the Nexus Tree. "This is marvellous. An energy source filled to the brim with Digital Waves made with King Drasil's remains!"

Shiki strained harder against her vines. "We won't let you…have your way…!"

"Are you kidding? If anything, you kids are going to help me get my way. Agromon? Do it."

Agromon roared and all the vines restraining the humans and their Digimon inside Arcadiamon's barrier glowed. All of them cried out as they were squeezed harder, and the vines grew hot. "E-everyone!" Jesmon shouted.

"What are you doing to them you fiend?!" Gankoomon shouted.

Once it was done the vines finally went away and all the humans and their partners dropped to the floor as Arcadiamon's barriers disappeared. The Resistance rushed over to their allies. "What happened to them?!" Grizzlymon asked.

"Hey, are you guys alright?!" Beetlemon asked.

Sayo weakly groaned. "I feel so…drained…"

Ophanimon struggled just to lift her head up. "He took the power we harvest…from our bonds with our partners…"

Arcadiamon and Agromon flew over to Boltboutamon's side. "Those things are working for him now?!" a OmniShoutmon asked.

"What's the meaning of this?!" a Baromon from the Next Order shuddered. "Wasn't the King was the one in command of them?!"

"Oh, Leopardmon thought these two were under his thumb. But I just made them seem that way to him." Boltboutamon replied. "They are after all…linked to me like a human and his Tamers." Black aura flowed around Arcadiamon and Agromon.

"Is that…the Dark Bond…?" Nova gasped.

"Wait…" Rikka gapped. "Why does it feel like Skyla and Gaia's power…"

"Ami's Digimon too…" Samudramon added.

Ami gasped. "The Bond Power you stole from me and Shiki…back when we were kidnapped by the Next Order…"

Boltboutamon laughed. "Thanks to your generous donation I was able to establish a link with these two and bend them to my will! I should also thank you kids…for bringing me this!" He took out a giant skeletal arm.

"That's…!" Magnamon gasped.

"The Brave…Snatcher…!" Alphamon trembled.

Boltboutamon laughed maniacally. "The Next Order's war may be over…but now the TRUE party…will begin! And everyone in this world is invited!"

I know some of you probably find it lame that I had the leader of the Next Order killed by my OC, but I felt it would be a good way to finish Kiryu's redemption arc after all he did while working in the Next Order. Besides, as you can tell, this isn't over yet…
