Chapter Thirteen: The First Clash
The battle erupted in a cacophony of sound as Obeliskmon charged forward, its massive fists slamming into the ground. The force of the impact shook the valley, sending rocks and dust flying into the air. Alex barely had time to brace himself as Grimdramon leaped into the fray, claws extended, but Obeliskmon's hulking form swatted him aside with a casual flick.
"Grimdramon!" Alex shouted, rushing to his partner's side.
Grimdramon grunted, his wings twitching as he struggled to regain his footing. "I'm fine. He's stronger than I thought…"
The other DigiDestined quickly sprang into action, their Digivices glowing brightly.
"Pyrolupamon, ignite!" Mia commanded, her Digivice flashing red. The fiery wolf Digimon pounced, flames dancing around her paws, but Obeliskmon swiped at her, sending her tumbling back.
"Water Burst!" Jake called, Aqualeomon unleashing a surge of water that struck Obeliskmon in the chest, but the giant Digimon shrugged it off as though it were nothing.
"We need to hit him together!" Ava shouted, holding her Digivice up high. "Florabimon, Leaf Storm!"
Florabimon summoned a whirl of green energy, her petals glowing bright as the wind and leaves whipped toward Obeliskmon. The attack was strong, but Obeliskmon barely flinched.
Ryan stepped forward, Terradonmon roaring as it slammed its fists into the earth, sending shockwaves through the ground. "Let's try a combined attack!" he called out.
"I'm in!" Sophie grinned. "Voltmon, Thunderstrike!" She raised her Digivice, and Voltmon soared into the air, crackling with electricity.
Obeliskmon grinned wickedly, raising its arm to strike. But as it swung, the combined attacks of the DigiDestined and their partners hit him all at once. The fiery blast from Pyrolupamon, the torrent of water from Aqualeomon, the storm of leaves from Florabimon, and the electric strike from Voltmon collided with Obeliskmon's chest, sending him reeling back.
"We've got him!" Mia cheered.
But Obeliskmon wasn't done. It roared, summoning dark energy from the Abyss Gate. The air grew colder, and shadows stretched toward the DigiDestined, twisting and writhing like living things.
"This is bad," Alex said, his heart pounding. "He's not going down that easily."
"Looks like we'll need to dig deeper, Alex," Grimdramon said, his eyes gleaming. "Trust me. We can do this. Together."
Alex tightened his grip on his Digivice, feeling the surge of energy inside it. "Right. Let's finish this."
He raised his Digivice, calling out, "Grimdramon, Digivolve!"
The air around Grimdramon crackled with energy as the dark shadows recoiled. In a flash of light, Grimdramon's form changed, his armor shifting, becoming sleeker and more powerful.
"Grimdramon… Digivolved!"
The new form was far more intimidating—his body now gleaming with a dark, ethereal aura, his wings glowing with golden energy.
"Grimdramon, Shadowclaw!" Alex commanded, pointing toward Obeliskmon.
With a fearsome roar, Grimdramon lunged forward, his claws glowing with dark power. He slashed through the air with incredible speed, striking Obeliskmon across the chest. The shadowy Digimon staggered back, momentarily stunned.
"Now, everyone! Full attack!" Alex shouted.
The DigiDestined and their partners coordinated once again. Terradonmon slammed its fists into the ground, creating fissures that struck Obeliskmon's legs. Voltmon fired an intense bolt of lightning that cracked the sky. Pyrolupamon's flames became a massive inferno, and Aqualeomon's water twisted into a massive wave that surged forward.
Obeliskmon bellowed in fury, trying to block the attacks, but the combined power of the DigiDestined overwhelmed him. With a final roar, the giant Digimon fell to its knees, cracking the ground beneath him before he finally collapsed, fading into the shadows from which he came.
"Did we do it?" Ava asked, panting heavily as she looked around at the aftermath of the battle.
"I think so," Jake said, wiping sweat from his forehead. "But I've got a feeling this is only the beginning."
Ryan looked toward the Abyss Gate, which was still swirling ominously. "We've only scratched the surface. Whatever's behind this, it's far from over."
Alex stood tall, feeling the weight of the battle settle in. "We're ready. Whatever comes next, we face it together."
Grimdramon nodded beside him. "That's the way we do it, partner."
As the light from the Digivices flickered, the DigiDestined turned to face whatever challenges lay ahead, knowing that their journey had just begun.
The light from the pillar exploded outward, engulfing the valley. When it cleared, the DigiDestined were left standing in silence, their Digivices now glowing brightly.
Alex looked at the others, determination settling in his chest. "Whatever's coming, we're in this together now."
Mia smirked. "Guess we'd better get used to each other."
But before they could plan their next move, the ground began to quake violently. A dark portal ripped open in the sky, and a massive shadow emerged.
It's the Abyss Gate," Grimdramon growled.
