Light Of My Life

"All right...everything looks to be in working order for now." Dr. Harvey smiled as he finished doing Thomas's check up.
"Are you sure? I know he was having some heart and chest pain." Cheryl questioned with a hint of nerves in her tone.
"It was just a slight twinge sis, I told you everything's fine." Thomas chuckled while redressing.
"Everything is not fine with you Tommy and you know it." Cheryl sighed, "It's why we have to keep an eye on things..."
"It's good that you do." said Hrvey, "But just because all seems well for now doesn't mean we should call it quits from here." he chuckled, "I'd still like to see you for your regular check ups you know."
"You got it, doc." Thomas chuckled, "You hear that sis? The good doctor says I'm good to go."
"Yes you're fine for the most part...but please do try to take it easy." said Harvey, "Don't over exhert your body and go working too hard for it to take...or you might end up right back here, on a stretcher." he stated.
"Noted...I'll try to take it a little easier then." he chuckled.

The walk home was long...and a little bit awkward.
One nice thing about being part of a small town was that everything was in walking distance-
Though when there's tension in the air-
A walk that is only minutes long...often times can feel like hours.
"I keep telling you I'm fine, sis." Thomas chuckles softly, "You worry too much-"
"I have right reason to worry." she mumbled.
"And my own nephew...throwing me under the bus-"
It was meant to be a teasing jab-
Due to Wave having been the one who tell Cheryl about what happened in the chicken coop.
"Well if I didn't you certainly wouldn't have..." he said back with a sigh-
"Besides it did you some good." he stated, "You needed to meet with your new doctor at some point anyway-and it will do you even better to start seeing him regularly."
"I know, I know..." Thomas chuckled with a defeated sigh.
He was out numbered here...
I did him no good arguing.
"Thank you for caring about me...the both of you."

"Are you sure you don't want us to just stay Tommy?"
She had plans to check out the saloon... having been invited by one of the towns folk they met on their outing, named Emily who apparently works there.
"Go on, get, I'll be fine~" the younger brother tries to reassure her.
The doctor said he was fine-
Yet she still worried.
And...he knew she was going to.
"Besides...It's Friday night- You've worked hard on the farm all week...you deserve a night off for some rest." he said softly, "And Waverly should get out more- I'm sure he'll have more fufillment socializing with people too- and not just Beverly and Suzanne-"
"And you?"
"It's bit of stimulation for my ticker today." Thomas chuckled, "Doc told me to take it easy...I'll be all right on my own."
"I'm still not sure..."
"Waverly will you convince your mother to go?" he chuckled, "You convinced her to take me to see the doctor today, surely you have that power-"
"Pfff, come on mom." Waverly chuckled, "We'll only be out a couple hours, all right Uncle Tom?"
"Go on~ Take your time..." the young man chuckled, "Go have fun."

The Saloon was popping.
Apparently, it gets really active at night... and is quite popular on Fridays.
"Hey, glad you two decided to come in!" Emily chimed in, sliding over a glass for Cheryl, "Star Drop Wine~ Best brew in th the house." she winked.
"Thank you for inviting us..." Cheryl chuckled as she accepted the glass that was poured for her, "...How did you know I liked wine?"
"You just seem like the type." Emily chuckled, "I got a read on your energy and it told me you enjoy a something sweet and subtle~" she hummed.
"Really now?" she took a light whiff and her eyes lit up, "It smells divine..."
"Star Drop Wine is a unique sort of drink." Emily chuckled, "It's the most popular drink in the house- and yet it's a different experience for everyone who drinks it...seems sort of magical, don't you think~?" she giggled, "Oh but be careful...too much of a good thing can hit harder than expected..."
"Oh don't worry about me~" Cheryl chuckled as she took her first sip of the cool sweet liquid between her lips and smiled, "I never get drunk on wine~"
Waverly wandered around the place, checking out what it had to offer.
There was a juke box in the corner...and a room to the side with a vending machine, a couple of arcade games, and a billards table right in the middle.
That must be where the younger crowd usually hung out.
Between that and the scattered tables there was a big open space in front of the fire place-
Most likely used for dancing.
His shifted his eyes around, scanning everything.
He liked it.
Seemed sort of...cozy.
In the side room, he caught a glimpse of a familiar face...and decided to wander in.
"Oh hey look~ It's the new guy." Abigail hummed giving a slight wave, "Everyone wave at Wave~" she joked.
"You have a real problem with my name, don't you?" he chuckled softly with a hint of a playful eye roll...but he waved back all the same.
"Oh...hey...so...you're the new guy who just moved in, huh?" a young man questioned him. He had his hair pulled over, cut in a unique style and was dressed head to toe in black.
He wondered if his hair was dyed that way too...
It was difficult to figure out, sonce black hair was also a natural color for others.
"Yeah...that's me." Wave chuckled softly with a shrug of his shoulders, "Guilty as charged."
"Cool." he said back in response, sipping from his bottle, "...So...of all place you could move...you chose Pelican Town?"
"Well...I didn't." Wave stated as he leaned back against the wall, "...My mom did. Unfortunately after the divorce, it's all we could really afford..."
"Wait...your mom..." the guy stood puzzled for a second as he tried to process the words that were said to him, "Oh...right. You're Waverly, right?" he asked, "So that's what Abigail meant by Wave...yeah my mom told me about you..."
"Yeah dude...Wave is a nick name." Waverly snickered.
"I know what a nickname is dude-" the guy chuckled in return.
"Sebastian's had a few drinks, you'll have to excuse him." A blonde chimed in with a cheeky grin.
"Shut up- I'm not a light weight!"
"No one said that man~"
"...You know...I'm starting to think he's a light weight-" Wave chided in, finding amusement in the light hearted banter they shared, pulling a laugh from the blonde and a defeated tongue click from the man he called Sebastian.
"My name's Sam, by the way. It's nice to meet you."
"Like wise." said Wave with a light smile as he reached his hand in to shake the other's.
"We hang out here on Fridays, and play a couple games of pool..." said Sam.
"Yeah, it's sort of like a Friday night tradition I guess." said Abigail.
"You're welcome to join us if you want." said Sam, "Do you play?"
"I'm okay." Wave shrugged, "I mean, I don't play much but...I'm not bad."
"Oh...cool." said Sebastian, "So you want to play winner then?"
"Sure." said Wave, "Or maybe we can play a little two on two." he suggested, "That way no one is left out."
"Oh that's okay- I usually don't play anyway." said Abigail, "But if we're gonna play two on two, I'm joining Sebastian's team- because he's a guaranteed winner." she smirked.
"Wow, judging me before you even see me play!" he laughed softly, "That's okay though, I don't mind...I prefer to be on the losing side...I'm a fan of underdogs."
"Yeah well, right now, Sebastian is icking my ass...you think you can get me out of this jam?" asked Sam, "You'd be joining a losing game."
"Nah...don't worry." said Wave as he carefully paced around the table to get a look of the set up before grabbing himself a pool cue-
"We can turn this around no problem...it will be easy."
"Yeah?" Sebastian chuckled, "Well...We'll just see about that..."
