Chapter Text

2 Days Later.

11/11/1996.

Sunday.

Hermione was very excited today.

She was going to make potions with Snape.

Of course, the student side was very excited about making potions, but the young female part was excited about something else.

She would be left alone in the same place with Snape.

Hermione was constantly thinking about different things because of that vague moment in the office two days ago.

What was the meaning of what happened in those moments?

What were the meaning of those kind words, gentle touches?

Hermione had thought about these things so much that she had difficulty doing her homework.

The young woman's side was of course thinking about feelings, but even if this was true, she was also afraid that she didn't know what might happen in the future.

So she stopped thinking about these things for the moment.

She was wearing a normal t-shirt, cardigan and trousers. Above all, she wanted to be comfortable while making potions. She was excited as she sneaked down into the dungeons. When she arrived at the office, she straightened hwe6 clothes and knocked on the door.

"Come."

When the door opened again by itself, Hermione quickly entered and looked at Snape as the door closed. "Professor."

Severus looked up at her. The painful feeling inside him had eased again. "Miss Granger."

"I came for the potion."

Severus lined up the scrolls and set them aside. He slowly stood up and walked towards the side wall. "Follow me, Miss Granger." He said and waved his wand at the wall, then a door appeared and Severus entered.

While Hermione looked on in surprise, she quickly followed after him. When she entered, she looked around in surprise. It was a big, beautiful, functional laboratory. "Wow."

The corner of his mouth lifted slightly. "Did you like it?"

"Simply perfect!" She looked at him and clasped her hands in front of her. "Can we start right away?"

He couldn't help but laughed sarcastically. "What's the rush, Miss Granger?"

Hermione's heart quickened when she heard his manly smile. "It's just-it's just beautiful here and I'm excited to make potions here."

He took a step forward and inclined his head towards her. "Then let's not keep you waiting any longer, Miss Granger." he said in a whisper.

They were quite close as she looked up at him. Her eyes were wide with a sweet expression. But when he pulled away before anything more could happen, she realized she was holding her breath.

"Come then, Miss Granger." He turned around and went to one of the tables where the cauldrons were. "This is your table."

She quickly approached the table. Next to the cauldron were all the necessary ingredients and herbs. "What potion will I make?"

He looked at her mockingly. "Guess?"

She looked at the grass for a moment and immediately turned back to him. "Headache potion."

"Well done, Miss Granger. 5 points to Gryffindor."

Her eyes widened for a moment. "You keep giving me points these days."

"You deserve it." He looked away and walked towards his own table. "Looks like it won't be the last."

Hermione couldn't help but smile as she looked after him.

"Come on Miss Granger, don't linger."

And Hermione got to work.

1 hour later.

In that one hour, Hermione literally repeated the same task 3 times and bottles of potion were prepared.

In fact, she almost lit the potion at one point because what she saw shocked her.

Snape managed 3 cauldrons at once, which surprised Hermione.

Of course, she received a gentle scolding from Snape at this time, but seeing those moments was worth it.

Now, as she let the potion boil, she sighed and went back, taking off her cardigan and setting it aside. It was really hot. She gathered her hair nicely and tied it tightly.

"Professor."

"Yes?" he said without even looking up.

"Is there anywhere I can drink water?"

Without losing focus, Severus waved his hand casually and a glass appeared on the table.

Hermione smiled and took the glass and drank the cold water. "Thank you." she said as she put the glass down.

"You're welcome."

She approached the table and placed her hands on it as she watched the potion boil. Her legs hurt from standing all the time. "How much of this do I need to make?"

"At least 5 dozen-" He paused as he looked up. His breath caught in his throat when he saw her leaning on the table with her hair tied and her cardigan off.

When Hermione saw that he did not finish his sentence, she looked up at him. When she saw him looking at her with slightly widened eyes, her eyebrows frowned. "Professor, what happened?"

Severus blinked rapidly several times. "Nothing's wrong. I want the potion to be at least 5 dozen, but you can leave it here if you want. I'll handle the rest."

"No need, I can handle it."

He returned to his cauldrons and chopped the last ingredients and left them to boil. Finally he stepped back and took off his robe and put it aside because he was feeling hot.

The laboratory was very hot with boiling cauldrons.

Isn't it?

He created a glass for himself and placed his free hand on the table while drinking the cold water. The hand holding the glass was shaking slightly.

Hermione was watching him with frowned eyebrows. "Professor," She stepped back from the table and slowly approached him. "Are you okay?"

Severus nodded and placed the glass on the table. "I am good." What was going on? He'd never experienced anything like this before. He showed symptoms as if he were having a panic attack. He tried to unbutton a few of the top buttons of his redingot with his hand.

Hermione was getting increasingly worried. "Professor." She put her hand on his arm. "Can't you breathe?"

"I can breathe," He could actually breathe.

She couldn't stand it and stood in front of him. She used her own hands and unbuttoned a few of the top buttons of his redingot. "Should I open your shirt too?" she asked worriedly.

Severus' breathing became a little faster as he looked at the little woman in front of him. When he saw her worried eyes, he tried to calm down. "There's no need." he said quietly.

Why did he react like this?

He didn't understand what happened either.

Hermione couldn't resist and put her hand on his chest. "Professor, what happened?"

"I don't know," he said bluntly. He was slightly hunched over as his hand was still on the table and so he was standing close to her.

"Did you have a panic attack?"

He quickly shook his head no. Even if something like that happened, he would object. "No, it's just too hot."

She immediately looked around. "There are no windows here."

"Even if there was a window, I couldn't open it." he grumbled. "Bad for potions. I already have a cooling spell on me."

"Then why did you become like this?"

She was questioning too much.

Severus didn't know why this was the case anyway, he was confused and still felt a little bad. She was also a little too much for him. "I don't know!" he suddenly snapped against his will.

Hermione was startled because she wasn't expecting it. While looking into his eyes, she swallowed with tears in her eyes. "I am sorry." She said and quickly retreated to her own table and continued her work.

While she was worried about him, she was offended by his shouting.

The moment Severus shouted he knew he had done something wrong. But when he saw that she was startled and her eyes were filled with tears, his heart was squeezed with pain.

The pitying feeling inside him was gone when he saw her. Now it had started again.

Again, before he could do anything, he felt disgusting when he saw her apologize and go to his own table. "Miss Granger-"

"Can you please take care of the rest of the potion? I have to go." Hermione quickly put down the potion and grabbed her cardigan that was lying aside. "Good day to you." She quickly walked towards the open door.

Severus felt a great sense of fear. "Stop." Before he even realized what he was doing, he moved away from the table and walked quickly, grabbed her arm and turned her towards him.

Hermione was surprised to feel her arm being grabbed and her direction changed. But she quickly shook off her surprise and tried to pull her arm away. "Let go of my arm, Professor."

"Stop-"

"Professor-"

Severus held her other arm. "Miss Granger!" he said, raising his voice a little, trying to get her to stop.

Her nerves were even worse. "Don't shout at me!" she said and tried to pull her arms further. "I was worried about you, but you yelled at me! Now let me go!"

"Stop, please!" He was afraid that he would hurt her as he tried to stop her hasty departure. "I'm afraid I'll hurt you, stop!"

"Let me go!"

If he left her right now, she would leave. He didn't want her to go. "I didn't mean to shout!"

"But you shouted, now let me go!"

Severus finally couldn't take it anymore and before she could react, he wrapped his arms around her waist and swept her off her feet. "Stop! Don't go!"

Hermione was surprised at first because she didn't expect such a thing, but then she gathered herself and tried to get off by hitting his shoulders with her hands. "Let me go! I want to go!"

"Damn it, stop!" he said and tried to save himself from her blows. Then he became tired because of the incident he had experienced before and he spoke in a lower voice. "Stop, please."

Hermione's movements paused for a moment when she heard his tired voice. Panting, she stood with her hands on his shoulders. She was stunned by what she saw while looking into his eyes.

There was fear.

There was fear in his eyes.

Why was there fear?

"Don't go," he muttered in his tired voice. While looking into her eyes, he couldn't stand it anymore and buried his head in her neck.

Since he already held her in his arms, they were already hugging when he did this.

Hermione blinked in surprise. Her heart started beating faster when she felt his breath and warmth on his neck. "What are you doing? I don't understand what you're doing!" she said as she tried to get rid of him once again, knowing that she was helpless and empty.

Ignoring the blows, Severus closed his eyes and inhaled deeply the scent of her that filled his nose. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell. Don't go." he said breathlessly.

She could no longer keep up with the events. But she suddenly felt very tired. She gave in and wrapped her arms around his neck. She buried her own head in his neck.

They were completely wrapped up in each other.

They were both trying to calm down in each other's arms, breathing in their scent deeply.

"I don't understand what you're doing," muttered Hermione quietly and breathlessly.

"I don't know either," he muttered in the same silence. "But don't go."

She slowly pulled her head back and grabbed his head with her hands and pulled him back. Hermione frowned when their eyes met. "Why don't you want me to leave?" Her hands were on his cheeks.

"Because-" He hesitated for a moment whether to say it or not. "Because if you leave like this, you won't come back."

"Why don't you want me to leave so much? After all, I am your student."

He closed his eyes softly. "Hush, just hush." This time he put his forehead on her shoulder. "You made me tired."

She rolled her eyes. "You're carrying me in your arms. Of course you'll get tired."

Severus couldn't help but laugh. "It wasn't carrying you that made me tired, you're already as weak as a bird."

She frowned. "I weigh 46 kilos." she said in a childish manner.

Severus pulled his head back as he laughed again. "Can a person weigh 46 kilos? I don't know how you live."

"Are you trying to get on my nerves?"

"I actually thought it was a compliment to tell women that."

Her eyes narrowed slightly. "Who have you ever complimented on their weight?"

Severus tried not to grin as one of his eyebrows rose involuntarily. Was she jealous? "Why are you asking?"

Hermione felt embarrassed when she realized what she was asking. "Let me go now." she said while trying to get rid of him with her hands.

"Stop, stop," he said, wrapping his arms around her tighter. "You will fall."

"If you let me go, I won't fall."

Severus slowly shook his head and studied her delicate face. "If you leave without being angry with me, I'll let you go."

"Why would I be mad at you? I was just worried about you and you yelled at me."

"I told you it wasn't on purpose." he said with a serious expression.

"Okay, I understand." she said and sighed tiredly. "Will you let go now?"

She was disappointed that this was her first real close contact with him.

Severus finally set her down gently, but did not withdraw his hands. This time, he wrapped his hands around her waist more gently. "Come back tomorrow."

She lifted her head and looked into his eyes. He was very tall. "Why?"

"To make potions."

"I can't promise, it depends on the homework given tomorrow." Finally, she reluctantly pulled away, causing his arms to drop. "I have to go now, good day to you."

Severus felt that unpleasant, painful feeling settling inside him again. "Have a nice day."

Hermione turned around and walked towards the door, but stopped at the last moment. "I want to ask one last thing."

"Subject to."

"How tall are you?"

His brows furrowed. "What?"

She turned her head and looked at him. "You're too tall."

He tried not to laugh when he realized it. "I'm 1.85 tall."

"Um, okay." She didn't say anything else and quickly walked out of the office, not knowing why she asked this.

I didn't know what the things she was going through really meant and it was tiring her.

Tired and thoughtful, she went to her room.
