Chapter 4: Entei Encounter

Paul and Hilda left Pallet Town a day ago and arrived at Viridan City. The two stopped at the Pokemon Center to exchange some pokemon.

Hilda was first talking to her mother. "Hi mom!"

"Hilda, how my little girl doing?" Her mother shared a resemblance to her daughter though her hair style was different, had blue hair ribbon on her head.

"I'm doing good and I got a new traveling companion!" Hilda replied with excitement.

That caught her mother's interest. "Oh I see, where this new friend of yours?" her daughter turned around and called her new friend over. "Mom, this is Paul."

"Hi, there I see you got the looks." Her mother commented.

Paul turned his face away embarrassed. "Thanks I guess." Hilda chuckled awkwardly. "He's flattered, anyway Paul comes from the Sinnoh Region!"

"Is that so, how did you two meet?"

Paul decided to answer that. "I met her on the boat I was riding to get to Kanto."

Hilda's mother giggled. "I see, so you met by fate, anyway I'm happy to see my daughter has new traveling companions." That caught Paul's attention. "You mean your daughter was traveling with other people?"

"Yes, I guess she didn't tell you." Her mother explained as she looked at her daughter(who was giggling nervously). "Anyway, her traveling companions were also from Unova, however after she lost the Unova League, she and her friends went there seperate ways."

"Is that so, well anyway it was nice meeting you." Paul began to walk away. "Wait!" Hilda's mother called as the purple haired trainer stopped as he glanced at the woman. "Please I have a request."

Paul's eyebrow raised in confusion. "What kind of request?" Hilda's mother put her hands together. "I want you look after my daughter since you two are traveling together."

That request took Paul by surprise. "Uh-" Hilda's mother's face changed into determination. "Promise me!"

That caused the purpled haired trainer to sigh. "Alright, I will." The mother then smiled. "Thank you young man." Hilda continued to talk with her mother as Juniper appeared. "Hello there Hilda, I overheard you got a new traveling companion, I must let you know that Cheren is on his way there to Kanto!"

"Really?!" Hilda asked excitedly. "I can't wait to see him again!"

Juniper giggled awkwardly. "I can see that, anyway what Pokemon do you want to me to send you?" Hilda thought this over for awhile. "I choose only Pawniard, the others I caught I want sent to Professor Oak's lab." A few minutes Hilda got the Pokemon she wanted while the others she had at Juniper's lab were sent to Oak's lab.

Paul walked away and went to call his brother. "Hi Paul, this is a surprise getting a call from you." The purpled haired boy just grunted. "Well I'm calling to tell you that I visited Oak's lab, I told him that you can sent my pokemon there."

Reggie was interested. "I see, I know your Pokemon would like a change of scenery." Paul gave Oak's number to his brother and wrote it down. "Ok Paul, I shall send your Pokemon to the Oak, but before I do, do you need any exchanges now."

Paul gave it some thought. "I want Gliscor and Weavile as for the others sent them to Oak's lab as soon as you can." Reggie smiled and was just about to hang up when Hilda came bumping into his brother. "What the?"

Hilda regain her balance. "Oh hi I'm Hilda a trainer from the Unova Region!" Reggie sweat dropped but recollected himself. "Oh I see, I take it that you're traveling with my brother." The girl nodded. "Yes, I met him on the boat he was traveling, I also learned quite a few things about your brother from Oak and two other guys."

Reggie was interested and had a question. "I see I shall talk to Oak when I get the chance, anyway are you challenging the Battle Frontier too?" The girl shook her head. "Oh no, I'm challenging the Kanto League, so far we're on our to Cerulean City however on our way we'll stop at Pewter City! I also got some Pokemon from the Unova Region."

Reggie was getting more interested. "I see I'd love to your new Pokemon someday." Hilda nodded with a smile. "Oh I forget I need to give Nurse Joy my Pokemon for a check up." She ran over to the front desk.
Reggie then turned to see his brother. "Paul, did you get any new Pokemon." His brother nodded. "Yes, I got a Charmander, I can tell its got potential and I intend to get it stronger."

Reggie smiled a little. "I see, but remember to be one with your Pokemon." Paul grunted but nodded. "Right."

"Anyway, I'm sending Gliscor and Weavile right now." Reggie transferred Gliscor and Weavile to his brother. "I'm so happy for you too."

Hearing that got Paul's eyebrow to raise in confusion. "Uh, why is that?" Reggie chuckled with his arms crossed. "That you have your first traveling companion as far as I can remember you always traveled alone, I know this is something you don't want to hear but I hoped you would get some people to travel with you." Paul just stared at him before Reggie gave him a serious look. "Paul listen, I know you're strong but there other ways to get stronger and as long as you have real friends and your Pokemon by your side you can succeed always!"

Paul smiled softly. "Sure, I'll keep in that mind." Those words made him remember what Tracey told him about the wise words from Prima. "See ya Reggie."

Eventually Paul took his Pokemon to Nurse Joy for a check up too. Hilda's Pokemon were done as Nurse Joy handed her pokemon. "Your Pokemon are doing fine and good luck at Pewter city gym." The female trainer smiled. "Thank you."

Paul got his pokemon checked up. "Paul your Pokemon are doing fine, so good luck with your challenges." Despite not smiling he bowed his head. "Thanks."

The two got had lunch so did their Pokemon.

Paul and Hilda sat at the same table.

Just then a trainer with a Primape came. "Nurse Joy, my Primape got injured while fighting a Entei!" That name got the attention of every trainer in the pokemon center.

Paul walked over to the trainer. "Entei, are you sure?" The trainer nodded. "Yes we saw on a small rocky hill and we challenged it but it was super strong, after that it ran into the forest."

Other trainers instantly ran out of the Pokemon Center.

"Is must still be there!"

"I'll catch it!"

Paul was interested and decided to leave as he returned his Pokemon so did Hilda.

"You think I'll miss this opporunity to see Entei then think again!" The female trainer stated.

Paul didn't say anything and kept running.

The two trainers soon arrived at Viridan Forest.

They looked around and saw other trainers looking around but to no avail.

Paul then caught a glimpse of something in the far distant. "Eh..." He ran towards the direction and lucky for him the others trainer didn't see him. Hilda did however and tried to get up with him.

Entei was on standing in clearing just seemingly gazing off into the distant until it noticed Paul. "It's Entei the legendary Pokemon from Johto." He prepared to take out his Pokeball. "Electivire stand by for battle!"

"Electivire!" The Thunderbolt Pokemon cried out.

Hilda took her pokeball. "Dewott come out!"

"Dewott!" The water otter pokemon cried out.

Entei leaped down from the large rock and landed onto the ground creating shockwaves and a strong breeze that made Hilda flinch and her Dewott to cover its face.

Paul on the other hand just stared off. "This power is intense..." He thought before smirking. "I intend to get see what it can do."

Electivire stomped its foot preparing to fight. "Electivire Thunder!" The Thunderbolt Pokemon unleashed its thunder at the legendary fire feline but it dodged it with ease.

Entei unleashed a flamethrower at the Thunderbolt Pokemon. "Quick use Protect!" The electric creature put its hands out creating a energy shield blocking the fire attack.

Electivire struggled to block but the shield was shattered as it was hit by the fire and sent flying away. Electivire reverted and stood back on its feet. "My turn, Dewott use Water Pulse!" The otter unleashed a water like ball and hit Entei in the face but it shook it off.

"Its a fire pokemon so why wasn't it super effective!" Hilda exclaimed.

Paul gritted his teeth. "Entei is stronger than I thought." His smirk returned. "I can see how Legendary Pokemon are than I figured." He recalled the battle with Brandon's three legendary pokemon each one was stronger. "So I need to get keep fighting!"

Electivire roared out as it felt its trainer's spirit. "Electi-vire!"

"Use Thunder on yourself!" Paul commanded which his top electric pokemon did increasing its speed.

Hilda remembered this move. "That's the strategy you used in our battle!"

Paul smirked. "Yes, Electivire Thunderpunch!" The Thunderbolt pokemon dashed quickly towards to the legendary feline in a blink of eye but then Entei vanished. "What!?"

Entei was moving at incredible speed. "Uh oh, Extremespeed!" Hilda exclaimed with concern.

Entei then enhaled and unleashing another Flamethrower. "Electivire use Thunder!"

The electric and fire attack made contact but the thunder was overpowered and landed a hit on Electivire and sending it crashing into a tree. "Electivire!"

Electivire was knocked out and Paul ran over to it as Entei just stared after unleashing its fire attack. "Rrrr!" The creature let out a roar a trimuph.

Paul took out his pokeball. "Electivire, good job." Returning his pokemon to its pokeball.

Hilda felt a little sorry for her traveling companion but then stared back at Entei. Dewott still wanted to fight but Hilda took out its pokeball. "Dewott, stop its out of our league, so let it go."

Paul stood by Hilda, the two stared at the legendary fire feline for a moment until it turned away and ran off into the opposite direction.

Paul smirked. "Entei is stronger than I figured."

Hilda giggled. "Legendary Pokemon are no pushovers, but it was a good opportunity to battle them." The purpled haired couldn't disagree with that. "I suppose so."

A short time later.

The two returned to the Pokemon Center to spend the night.

Paul and Hilda had their own rooms.

Paul had his Pokemon sleep on the nearby desk next to his bed. "Hmm." He said as his battle against Entei was still in his mind.

He suddenly remembered the three Legendary Pokemon that Brandon had, Registeel was mostly on his mind and wondered if Entei could beat it. To him it would be interesting to see. Though he knew catching a Legendary Pokemon would be harder just as finding them.

Paul smiled softly. "I have to get stronger but for now I need to get some rest."

Hilda's room.

The Unova trainer was thinking more about her upcoming battle in Pewter city. "So Entei is stronger than I heard of."

She remembered something that her mother told her as a child.

"Back then your father encountered a pokemon from Johto with such fire attacks and the power it had was overwhelming, defeating is hard but catching can be even more a challenge, probably a more experience trainer would have a chance to catching one of these legendary pokemon any others from different reigions."

Child Hilda was astonished. "I would like to meet Legendary Pokemon mommy!" Her mother smiled at her daugther's excitement. "Someday you will, remember each Legendary Pokemon is strong than you can imagine of."

Hilda looked at her Dewott sleeping next to her. "I need to get stronger so do my Pokemon, I also know that these Pokemon gyms aren't going to be pushovers." The next thought of her challenge of the Pewter City gym. "Whoever this gym leader is-" A look strong determination appeared on her face. "I will win."

End of chapter.
