Chapter 8: Visit to Bill

Previously Paul and Hilda went through Mt Moon to get to Cerulean City as they did they crossed paths with Conway a trainer from the Sinnoh Region.

Conway joins the two trainers for awhile until they exited the cave. Once they do the super nerd challenges Hilda to a battle.

Conway uses his Slowking and Shuckle while Hilda used her Samurott and Bulbasaur. Conway proved to a worth foe as he did with his knowledge and strategies however he loses to the Unova Trainer. The super nerd hands a brown egg to Unova trainer and then he departs on good terms with Paul after getting a compliment on his battle against Hilda.

Now the two trainers arrive at Cerulean city for Hilda's next gym battle and Paul's first battle frontier challenge.

The two were at the Pokemon center getting their Pokemon checked out as they did the two were in the waiting room.

Hilda was holding her egg while sitting on the bench. "I wonder what Pokemon will hatch from this egg." She looked at the purple haired trainer. "What do you think Paul?" Her traveling partner didn't respond but had his eyes closed and his arms crossed. "Hey are you listening?"

The other trainer groaned. "Yes and honestly I don't care what Pokemon hatches I mean its not my egg." That caused the unova trainer to puff her cheeks in annoyance and started pulling his ear. "Hey at listen act like you interested or something!"

"Ow! Ugh! Don't do that!" Paul growled in pain as his partner let go of his ear. "Anyway as long as you know the Pokemon trains well for you I think it should be fine."

That was convincing to Hilda. "I don't care what Pokemon it is as long as we become friends." That word caused the purple haired trainer to flinch. "Friends...funny that's something that Ash would say..."

"Anyway, what Pokemon are you using for your first battle frontier challenge?" Hilda asked suddenly calmed.

Paul turned his head away with scoff. "You're just going to have find out when my battle starts." Hilda's cheeks puffed up. "Oh! You're such a meanie!" But surprisingly she calmed down. "But I suppose that's fine I guess."

Just then nurse joy came as the two trainers walked to the front desk. "Paul! Hilda! I'm pleased to announce that your Pokemon are top shape and willing to fight."

Hilda had a question. "Excuse me Nurse Joy, can I ask a question?" That got the nurse's attention. "Sure what is it?"

"Who is the gym leader here?" Hilda asked.

"Oh. The gym pleader is a girl named Misty. She uses Water Pokemon." The pokemon nurse replied. "I heard of the Pokemon she uses, if you want to know," Hilda shook her head with a polite smile. "It's fine I'd rather see her pokemon in person."

A short time later.

Hilda gave this some more thought. "Hmm, Misty uses water Pokemon, she must be a great gym leader if she's that good, not mention that she traveled with this Ash kid, she has probably caught a lot of different water pokemon while she traveled with him."

"Paul! I'm going to make a call." She went to call professor Oak on the home phone.

Ring Ring phone call phone call

Oak answered the phone. "Hello, this is professor Oak speaking." He saw the unova trainer. "Oh! Hello there Hilda, what's up and how did your first kanto gym battle go?"

Hilda took out the badge case revealing the Boulderbadge. "It was great as you probably guessed I won!" Oak smiled proudly. "I see, I wish I was there to see it."

"That's not all my Dewott evolved into Samurott!" Hilda added excitedly.

That got Oak intrigued. "Oh my I would love to see your Samurott in person." The Unova trainer smiled. "I also got this egg." She showed the Pokemon egg. "Ooh. Very interesting, where'd you get that egg?"

"I got it from another trainer that Paul knew, his name is Conway." Hilda replied. "We both had a Double battle! I won and it was a great battle too."

Oak was proud of this achievement. "I see congratulations. I wonder what Pokemon will hatch from your egg. Well whenever it hatches let me know!" Hilda smiled. "I will. Anyway I also want to ask to exchange some of my Pokemon."

Oak smiled brightly. "Ah, what Pokemon do you want send to me?" Her Fraxure and Watchog appeared by the old man as Hilda gave that some thought. "I'll send Pawniard while I'll keep the others with that I already have."

Then more Pokemon showed by the professor. A Cinccino, Emolga, Larvesta, and Zorua. "I have to admit Hilda, you got quite the new Pokemon." The professor was seemingly excited. "I can hardly wait to study them, I have no doubt that Ash will catch Unova Pokemon too."

"I see, how have you heard from him lately?" Hilda asked seemingly interested.

Oak was happy to answer that. "I heard that he arrived a week ago, he just left prof. Juniper's lab after encounter with Zekrom!"

That got Hilda's eyes to widened. "Zekrom, I heard of that legendary Pokemon!" Oak smiled. "Right, I learned that it zapped Pikachu's electrical power but I was told that's its doing fine now."

Paul then just approached beside the Unova trainer who Oak noticed. "Oh? Hello there Paul, I heard Hilda got her first badge." Despite that not smiling he knowledge the old man's words. "That's right, I admit her battle was quite intense." A soft smile appeared on his face. "But it was good battle to see."

Hilda smiled a little. "I have you to thank for that. If I didn't train with you I would've lost either way." Paul turned his head away in annoyance. "Don't worry about it."

Hearing this was quite outstanding. "That reminds me, Paul and I encounter an Entei!" Oak was suddenly in interest. "Is that so!? Tell me did you two battle it,"

"That's right, I used my Electivire while Hilda used her Dewott." Paul answered. "However it was stronger than I thought it'd be. After a intense battle it fled and escaped."

Oak was very intrigued by this information. "I see. I remember when Ash and his friend saw Entei during their Johto journey. I heard that a young man was dreaming of catching it. During that time Entei saved Ash and his friends then like I said was challenged by the trainer Nelson using his Misdreavus however Entei proved to be too strong."

Hearing that story got Paul more interested but decided to get back to the topic. "Well that's interesting story however we have a busy schedule so I'm afraid we'll have to go."

Oak saw no problem in that. "Alrighty then I'll be seeing ya both." Paul was about to hang up until. "Oh and Paul..." That stopped the purpled haired trainer. "What is it?"

A smile appeared on the professor's face. "Good luck." A small smile appeared on Paul's face. "Thanks." Hilda then sent her Pawniard to the professor while taking her Emolga back with her. "Thanks professor, talk to ya later!"

The virtual tv went off.

The two trainers left the Pokemon center and on their way to the gym. "Paul, if you don't mind I would like meet the gym leader first then we can decide what we should do first." The purple haired trainer shrugged his shoulders. "I don't care as long as I can get to the Battle Factory."

The two arrived at the Cerulean gym. "This is it." Hilda knocked on the door.

Knock Knock

No answer. "Strange, no one is answering." She knocked again and again but no answer. "What is going on?"

Just then the door started to open. "Who's there?" A voice asked.

Out came a girl with long light blonde hair that reached her lower back. "I'm Daisy." The girl introduced herself. "Oh are you a friend of Misty's?" Hilda asked.

"Hey Daisy, who's at the door?" Another female voice. It was another girl with dark blue haired that shined. "Oh company?"

Then a pink haired girl appeared. "Hey you two, what's the hold up?"

"Do you know where Misty the gym leader is?" Hilda asked the three girls. "Oh, forgive our rudness Misty is actual out of town and asked us to watch the gym for a few days."

Hilda was a bit disappointed but was little curious about the three sisters. "If Misty's the gym leader, does that make you backup gym leaders or something?"

The three sisters turned their heads looking a bit embarrassed. "Well actually we don't battle like she does." That caused Hilda to gap her mouth open.

Paul's eyes widened. "Say what?"

The three girls placed their hands on their hips and winked. "We're the the former gym leaders the three Sensational Sisters."

Hilda was bit confused. "Well if you three are former gym leaders then why can't I battle you three?"

"Well, battling isn't our style." Daisy said with shrug.

"Misty has the skills, though we do take care of her Pokemon while she's on a trip or so." Violet added.

"Right, however Misty will be back in a few days." Lily explained. "We can give you a tour of the gym if you would like," Hilda shook her head politly. "No, its fine I'll just do some training for awhile until she returns."

Violet looked at Paul. "Excuse me young man, are you challenger too?"

Paul shook his head. "Of course not, I'm here cause the Battle Factory is in this city." Violet was interested. "I heard that old friend of Misty's challenged the Battle Frontier awhile ago, I guess that you are as well." Paul nodded his head confirming her guess.

"I see, would you like us to point out the direction to get to the Battle Factory?" Lily asked.

"No need, I know how to get there because my brother challenged the Battle Frontier a few years ago." Paul replied turned his head away. "I appreicate it though."

Daisy was little weirded out by the purple's haired boy's attitude seeing no emotion in his eyes but decided not to get into that matter but then again if he wasn't a good person as he was then Hilda wouldn't be traveling with him. She then turned her attention to Hilda. "Anyway, we'll be sure to give you a call when Misty returns." The unova trainer nodded with a polite smile. "I appreciate that, thank you."

The three sisters were about to close the door when Daisy stopped.

"Oh one more thing." She said as she looked at Paul. "Keep up that attitude of yours and you won't get a girlfriend." That took Paul off guard. "Excuse me?" The blonde giggled. "Just teasing you but you have got the looks I'll give you that." That caused Paul to feel a little embarrassed but this was different than when he lost to Cynthia. "Anyway if you want something else to do, check out the lighthouse on route 25, he can show you some Pokemon that he's been discovering the past years."

The two trainers were seemingly interested. "Hmmm sounds interesting." Paul thought putting his finger under his chin.

Hilda was excited to hear this. "Let's go then!"

The two travel through a forest.

"So Paul," Hilda said getting her traveling companion to glance at her. "What is it,"

"Well, I want to know something, do you still think that Pokemon battles is about power?" That caught Paul off guard. "Where is that coming from?" He asked.

Hilda took a deep breathe. "Well its just that Pokemon battles are more than that I mean as far as I can remember as starting as a trainer my Pokemon and I were always there to support each other."

Those last words reminded of what Ash said once. "You got to support your Pokemon then they'll support you"

Paul scoffed. "I'm not the kind of guy that just hugs or gets all gushy with Pokemon, what is the point in that?" Hilda could see that the sinnoh trainer has more to learn. "I think you're a strong trainer but if you're going to become stronger than maybe you have to change your style or something." She turned her head and looked at the sky. "Otherwise you might not be able to accomplish your dream of being the best Pokemon trainer."

Paul was silent not wanting to get more into the subject. "As long as I can prove that I'm not like my brother and going to do what he couldn't do I couldn't care less."

Hilda realized how stubborn her friend was. "He's quite the stubborn one, I wonder how stubborn this Ash guy can be." Just then they arrived at a beach.

The sun was shining in the sky giving off a sparkly shine. "That's quite the sight." Seeing the sun's shine on the ocean was a pleasant sight as it sparkled on the ocean's surface. "Its been so long when I was on a beach." Paul thought.

Hilda then started taking of her outfit which took Paul by surprise. "What are you doing!?" She revealed her swim suit. "Don't worry I'm wearing my swimsuit under my clothes." Paul sweat dropped for once. "Ugh, give me a warning next time." She then took out her pokeballs. "Let's take out our Pokemon I mean we need to relax and release some stress."

Paul sighed. "Fine..." He took out his Pokemon. "Stand by!" Charmander, Electivire, Scyther, Weavile, and Gliscor came out.

"Char!"

"Gliscor!"

"Wea-vile!"

"Scy-ther!"

"Electivire!"

"Come out guys!" Hilda threw her pokeballs bringing out her Pokemon Samurott, Emolga, and Bulbasaur.

"Sam!"

"Emol!"

"Bulba-saur!"

"Let's play on the beach!" Hilda was swimming in the shore. Her Emolga was gliding around the beach. Samurott was swimming while Bulbasaur was enjoying sight of the nearby trees and bushes.

Paul didn't like playing around when there was training to be done but his thought was interrupted. "Hey come Paul, let's have some fun on the beach!"

Scyther was sitting next to a tree relaxing and Weavile was by a bush sleeping. Gliscor was laying on the sand relaxing.

Charmander sat on the sand just feeling the sun's blaze on his body. "Char-char..." The lizard Pokemon said.

Electivire sat next to Paul enjoying the sight of the ocean while Paul sit down in a cross leg position. "Hmph, this is a waste of time..." He grumbled with his arms crossed and his eyes closed however the stress that he was feeling somewhat was fading.

Hearing the sound of the oceans waves was quite relaxing and the sun's rays shining on him. "I hate to admit it but this is relaxing..." Several minutes passes and then he felt something dark approach in front of him which caused him to open his eyes. "What the-" He saw in front of him was Hilda. "You keep sitting in the sun and you'll get sunburn." He was taken by surprise which caused the Unova trainer to giggle. "Sorry about that did I startle you,"

The purple haired trainer scoffed . "Never mind that." He wiped off the sand from his pants and hands feeling a bit embarrassed. "Anyway, let's go find this lighthouse." He recalled his Pokemon so did Hilda.

They walked to the lighthouse and approached the front door. "Let's see if he's home." Hilda went over the door and knocked on it.

Knock knock

No answer and only thing that was heard was the ocean waves splashing against the nearby cliff.

Hilda then noticed a receiver on the wall nearby the door. "Who's there!" A voice said becoming from the receiver. "Uh hi, we're both trainers and we would like to stay here for the night."

"Hmm trainers huh...what regions are you from?" The voice asked.

Hilda was happy to answer that. "I'm Hilda a Pokemon trainer from Unova Region." That caught Bill's interest. "Unova huh? I heard of that region a little awhile ago. Also who is the other trainer."

"I'm Paul from Sinnoh." The purple haired trainer replied. "I'm a Pokemon Trainer as well."

"Sinnoh region, I could hardly wait see what Pokemon you guys have caught during your journeys." Bill said sounding excited like a child. "Anyway come on in."

The doors began to open making a creaking sound.

They walked inside and the room they came across was like a throne room a little. "Where are the lights?" Hilda wondered.

Paul searched out and then something caught his eye to see a video phone. "Its a video phone." Hilda went over to make a call which turned out and answering was Professor Oak. "Oh Hilda and Paul!" He was making tofu. "I didn't expect you two call but its no problem I assume that you made it to the lighthouse,"

Paul raised his eye brow. "How'd you know we would be here?" Oak smiled. "Well Ash came here before when he was traveling with Brock and Misty."

Hilda was interested in this. "Oh that's cool. Did anything else happen?" Oak would be gladly to answer that. "Yes, you see Bill is a studies Pokemon that been discovered or is still being discovered. Also Ash and his friends told me that of a Pokemon that came to the lighthouse late a night."

That caught Paul's interest. "What Pokemon was it?" Oak chowed some of tofu. "Hmm I got a description and assumed that Dragonite is the Pokemon appeared."

"Dragonite huh..." Paul thought with interest.

"Anyway since both of you are at Bill lighthouse, I hope to see you two share some of the Pokemon you brought with you."

"I don't care either way." Paul muttered.

Hilda's reaction was different. "I would be glad to!"

"If that's your answer then and I shall let you two go." Oak hung up as the lights suddenly came on. "I cannot turn down this request from the great Professor Oak."

The two trainers turned to where the voice came from which led up a stairway and on top was Kabuto. "Is that Kabuto?" Hilda asked.

"No, I'm Bill the Pokemon Researcher and what you see is costume" The man replied. "Can you two help me?" Hilda went up the stairs. "See that little button below my right side." The unova trainer looked down. "This one here?"

"Yes and as you guessed it that my arm is too short and I can't reach it." Bill replied as the girl pressed the button which caused the costume to fall off piece by piece. "Thank you for helping me I've been stuck in that costume for hours."

"Why did you dress like that?" Hilda asked.

Paul took a guess. "I assume you dressed like that because you wanted know more about extinct Pokemon." Bill smiled. "Correct as you know extinct Pokemon were lost years ago so I made this costume to understand what they were like." He cupped his hands together. "Anyway let's down to business. I believe you got some Pokemon with you that yet weren't discovered yet."

Paul and Hilda called their Pokemon.

"Elect-vire!"

"Wea-vile!"

"Gli-scor!"

"Scy-ther!"

"Charmander!"

"Samurott!"

"Emol!"

"Bulba-saur!"

Bill was really amazed. "Oh a Weavile, Electivire and Gliscor, three Pokemon that native to Sinnoh I must say this quite the opporunity and see you have a starter Pokemon Charmander that Oak gives to new trainers!" He looked at Hilda's Pokemon. "Bulbasaur huh, I can see you trained it well despite that you just got awhile ago." He looked at Emogla and Samurott. "Two pokemon from Unova, Samurott looks very strong and your Emogla a electric and flying type I must say quite the two type Pokemon."

Hilda and Paul gave their pokedex to Bill so he can scan through them and see what Pokemon they encounter in their recently travels. "I must say you both gathered some data on Pokemon and even extinct ones I could hardly wait to see more newly discovered Pokemon."

Bill then got up and walked on the stairway. "You know this brings me back when Ash and his friends came here, I remember telling them that there are Pokemon that have yet to be discovered and I was right."

"Yes we heard." Paul muttered.

"Anyway I know there are more new Pokemon that has yet to be discovered I mean there is Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and now Unova." Bill stated. "Yet I know there might be more regions with new Pokemon with different powers and maybe new types of Pokemon as you know Dark and Steel types were discovered in Johto and Pokemon with special abilities were discovered in Hoenn."

Hilda was interested in this. "That does sound cool and maybe there Pokemon that needs to discovered." Paul hated to admit it but he was becoming interested. "Hey Bill, what about that mystery Pokemon you saw with Ash and his friends, does it still come here?"

Bill smiled. "Yes it does and luckly its suppose to come here late at night." Paul was greatly interested in this. "I think we should see this for ourselves."

The three walked up to the rooftop of the lighthouse and saw fog. "Its been quite sometime since I used this." He took out a voice recorder and pressed a button

A Pokemon sound was played from the device.

"That's the Pokemon..." Paul thought.

"I played this countless times even before Ash and his friends came here and once I played this I heard a similar sound calling back to me from over the ocean." Bill said with determination. "I want to be friends with it and was answering it.

Just then there was a sound coming from over the ocean. "Its returned!" Bill whispered as he changed lights into different light colors. "That's the signal."

The sound got closer and closer then a shadowy figure was approaching the lighthouse. "Is that the Pokemon."

Paul realized the shape. "Its a Dragonite." He wanted to capture it and prepared to take out a Pokeball but was stopped by Bill. "Please, let's not try to capture, I would just like the meet without causing any disturbing or frightening it." The purple haired trainer sighed and put his pokeball away.

The cries of the Pokemon continued as it got closer.

The fog began to lift as it revealed itself. "A Dragonite!" Hilda exclaimed.

Bill was lost for words. "All this time I dreamt of seeing you again..." He got all teary eyed. "I know our last meeting ended so quickly and I never thought something horrible could happen to you." He bowed his head. "Please understand I never intended for you get hurt."

Dragonite nodded his head which Hilda noticed. "I think it understands you Bill." The Pokemon researcher lift his head up and smiled happily. "Dragonite, I want to be friends though I don't have an intention of capturing you but I want us to be friends so please stay here for awhile."

Paul didn't like sappy stuff but did gain some respect toward the researcher and to see a Dragonite up close was quite the opportunity."

Dragonite continued making sounds but it was happy to finally make friends which Bill noticed. "I think it wants to be friends with you guys too."

Hilda smiled excitedly. "I would love to be friend with you Dragonite!" She glanced at Paul. "Paul, what do you say,"

Paul stared at the Dragonite and a soft smile appeared on his face. "I suppose..." Dragonite let out a sound that showed it was happy.

Bill smiled. "At last I get to be friends with the Pokemon that I was long to meet again."

The three went to sleep.

Bill on the other hand was sleeping with Dragonite.

Hilda and Paul met him the researcher outside the lighthouse. "So Dragonite is going to stay with you for awhile?" Hilda asked.

"Yes but once its ready to journey again I shall bid it farewell." Bill replied. "Also I have something else to say to you two." He first looked at Hilda. "Hilda you got spirit and caring towards your Pokemon I can tell that you have a quite future as Pokemon Trainer."

He looked at Paul. "Paul, I can tell you trained your Pokemon very well but bonding with Pokemon is another way to work together and despite that we're both have different paths I think we have the same goals."

Paul smiled softly. "I'll remember that." Bill wasn't finished yet. "Also I wish you and Hilda on your journeys as well as your goals of becoming the best Pokemon Trainers."

Hilda was took out her egg but felt something move inside. "What is this?" The egg began to glow. "It's hatching."

Dragonite was interested in this and as well Bill. "I can't wait to see what hatches from it."

The glow grew brighter and brighter until the Pokemon revealed itself as Eevee. "Eevee." The newly hatched Pokemon said. "Its an Eevee!" She with cutesy face as the normal Pokemon jumped on its shoulder and rubbed itself against the girl's face. "I think it likes you." Bill laughed.

Eevee noticed Paul and it eyes twinkled which took him off guard. "Why is it looking at me like that?" His question was answered by Eevee rubbing its face against Paul's. "Why is it rubbing its face on me,"

Bill laughed. "I heard Pokemon can have some affection for humans though its quite rare." Hilda giggled a bit. "Eevee I'm your trainer and friend." She took out a pokeball. "So welcome to my team." Eevee nodded happily and got in its Pokeball. "Alright I caught a Eevee!"

Paul was still taken back by the affection that Eevee gave him. "Anyway let's get going."

The two trainers left the lighthouse as Bill and Dragonite waved good-bye wishing the best of luck to the trainers and hoping they'll have amazing adventure.

End of chapter.
