Chapter 11: Cheren Appears.

Hilda won her second kanto badge using her Samurott, Emolga, and Bulbasaur. Though Misty was forminable oppponent using her Staryu, Corsola, and Gyarados, Hilda manage to emerge as the victor and win.

After the two left the Pokemon center of Cerulean City, they decided to travel through Route 9 where they can do some training.

As they gotten further into the route they decided to train their new Pokemon while some of their other Pokemon were resting for the day.

Paul was training his Charmander and Scyther while Hilda was training her Bulbasaur and Eevee.

"Eevee and Bulbasaur Tackle each other!" Hilda commanded.

"Charmander use Dragon Claw and Sycther use Night Slash!" Paul commanded.

The four pair of Pokemon collided their attacks against each other which send them sliding backwards but were able to get back on their feet.

"Eevee and Bulbasaur good job!" Hilda complimented.

"Charmander and Sycther keep it up." Paul said despite not smiling.

Electivire and Samurott were on the sideline resting for the day.

Time passes.

The two took a break by sitting on large rocks and eating sandwiches with a side of juice while their Pokemon ate their snacks.

"So Paul..." Hilda began to say getting her companion's attention. "Should we catch some more Pokemon."

The purple haired boy's eyebrow rose. "I don't care if you want to but I'll catch one that lives up to my expections."

Hilda took hold of Paul's cheek. "That's mean, not every Pokemon is going to be strong at first unless you train them!" That made her friend groan. "Ow...ow...stop that!"

Paul pulled himself away rubbing his cheek. "Fine, I'll decide which one will be right for me!" The only problem is there isn't much Pokemon around since their training might've scared them off.

The two decided to look any tall grass areas but so far nothing much, only Pidgey, Rattatas, and Weedles appeared, something Pokemon that Paul didn't need for now. "This is a waste..." Paul thought looking impatient.

Hilda then saw caught a glimpse of something moving in the nearby trees and out came Vuplix. "Aw its so cute!" She took out her pokedox. "Vuplix the fox Pokemon, its tail are extremely beautiful and when it evolves it grows even more tails."

Paul wasn't amused. "You'd better catch before it runs off."

Hilda recollected herself. "Right, Eevee, go!" Her new normal type went in front of her trainer and glared at the fox pokemon who seemed to ready to battle.

"Go Tackle!" Eevee charged its body against the fox pokemon but as it drew closer Vulpix quickled dodged. "Miss it!"

Just then Vuplix dashed quickly towards the evolution Pokemon and rambed its body against Eevee. "Vuplix no!" Hilda cried out.

"That was Quick Attack." Paul said a bit impressed.

"We're just getting warmed up!" Hilda shook her head getting focused. "Eevee use your Quick Attack!" Which her Evolution Pokemon did but then Vuplix squits its eyes and waves its paws at the Eevee to be confused and act dizzy.

"That was Confuse Ray." Paul said looking impressed.

"This is bad!" Hilda exclaimed.

That was right when Vuplix unleashed a fire vortex from its mouth. "Its Fire Spin!" Paul exclaimed with widended eyes.

Eevee was engulfed in the fire spin and crying out in pain. "No Eevee!" Hilda yelled in shock seeing the damage her new pokemon was taking.

When the fire attack disappeared Eevee was on the gone defeated. "Eevee return!" Hilda looked at the pokeball smiling sadly. "You did great so a take nice rest." Just then Vulpix ran off as Hilda attempted to go after it. "Get back here!"

"Hold on." A voice said.

There was a boy with jet black hair with two bangs in front of his forehead and small tuft hair that stuck up from top of his head with a serious look on his face. "Honestly you need to come up with a strategy no matter its a trainer's pokemon and or a wild battle."

"Cheren!" Hilda cried cheerfully. "Its been so long!"

"I take it that's the guy you traveled with?" Paul questioned but his friend didn't hear him.

Cheren just continued looking at the girl with seriousness. "I'm not done talking, each Pokemon that you may encounter might have status moves that can make things difficult." Hilda's cheerful face went to puffed cheeks as she turned her head away. "Don't I get a hello or something?"

Cheren sighed. "Honestly you haven't changed a bit." Hilda started to pinch the boy's cheek. "Right and you're still the smart guy you always are!" That made the other unova trainer groan. "Because I take my studies as a smart guy seriously as well as being Pokemon Trainer."

Hilda cleared her throat. "Anyway, are you here to enter the Kanto League?" Cheren smiled as he took out a badge case. "I figured you'd ask." He opened the case revealing two badges. "This badges are from the Vermillion City gym while the other is from the Saffron Gym."

Paul groaned at this scene. "Geez more weirdos..."

Cheren then freed himself from Hilda's hand and noticed Paul. "Oh a new friend of yours?" The purpled haired trainer turned his head. "I can see he's not talktive person."

"He's just like that Cheren." Hilda explained. "Anyway this is Paul he's from the Sinnoh Region."

Cheren was intrigued. "I see, quite impressive."

Paul had a question. "You said that you battled the gyme at Vermillion city and the Saffron City, did you take a different boat?" Cheren chuckled. "You're right, the gym leaders were no pushovers but I won." He turned to Hilda. "So you'd better be careful, each gym leader is going to be stronger than the next."

His friend huffed. "I can handle those gym leaders too!" Cheren sighed as he looked at his friend's new companion. "So I was told that you're strong Paul."

Paul looked at the boy. "So what if I am." Cheren smirked. "I like to see you battle if you know what I'm getting." That got the purpled haired trainer to look into his eyes and shrugged. "I don't care if its battle you want then you'll get now."

"Alright." Cheren took out his Pokeball."Let's go Serperior!"

"What is that Pokemon?" Paul wondered as he took out his Pokedex. "Serperior the Regal Pokemon, this Pokemon can stop its opponents movements with just a glare. "It takes solar energy and boots it internally."

Paul smirked. "Sounds strong." He turned his Pokemon and looked to see which one would be perfect. "Electivire stand by before!" His electric Pokemon went front.

"Ah." Cheren said looking astonished. "An Electric type, quite the disadvantage..."

"Cheren, don't underestimate this guy, he's strong!" Hilda called out.

"Funny coming from you." Paul and Cheren muttered in unison. Hilda started throwing her arms like a child. "That was a compliment!"

"Anyway let's get this battle started!" Cheren suggested. "Serperior Coil!"

The Regal Pokemon coiled its body which began to glow light purple. "What is Coil?" Paul wondered in confusion.

Cheren tilt his glasses. "Coil is a move that raises the attack, defense, and accuracy of the Pokemon that uses this move."

Paul gritted his teeth. "Great, a move that increase three power ups." This could get tricky. "In that case use Thunder on yourself!"

Electivire unleashed its thunder attack on itself which was unfazed but its entire body was covered in electrical surges. "Oh this should be good." Cheren said looking intrigued.

Hilda remembered that strategy. "That's the same move he used on when he and I battled."

"Now Thunderpunch!" Electivire quickly dashed at the Regal Pokemon and extended its electrical fist towards it.

"Gastro Acid." Cheren said with a smirk.

Seperior hurled up its stomach acid on the Thunder pokemon which caused its electrical surges to disappear. "What!?"

"Gastro Acid is a move that eliminate an effect of Pokemon Special ability." Cheren explained with a proud smile.

Paul gritted his teeth. "That's not good."

"Serperior use Leaf Tornado!" The Regal Pokemon started to spin its tail around creating a leaf like tornado which engulfed Electivire.

"Electivire!" Paul yelled in shock.

When the tornado disappeared the Thunder Pokemon was little dizzy but wasn't confused. "That was strong."

"Cheren is intelligent when it comes to battles." Hilda said. "He is serious in a battle."

Cheren smiled proudly. "Listen your name is Paul, right?" The purpled haired trainer groaned in annoyance but decided to answer. "Yes."

"I'll give you some advice, you must come up with different strategies and also your battle style is quite predictable, I have a feeling that opponents you may face in the future will be not only strong but have different battle styles so you need to change yours because anything can happen in a battle." Cheren advised with a smile.

Paul was getting annoyed but despite this advice he knew that his opponent was right. "I must admit your strategy was flawless."

Cheren chuckled a little. "Thanks, I think its time to end this." Serperior prepared for its next move. "Let's go Serperior use Dragon Tail!"

The Regal Pokemon swung its glowing tail at the Thunder Pokemon. "Take the attack!" Paul's command caused the two unova trainers to gasp in confusion.

Electivire took the attack and then its two tails attempted to grab the grass serpent Pokemon but in the blink of an eye it quickly dodged the tails with great speed. "Oh no!" Paul exclaimed.

"Now use Energy Ball!" Cheren commanded.

The Regal Pokemon fired a light green ball at the Thunder Pokemon which hit on its face hard. "Now finish this up with another Dragon Tail!"

Electivire was hit again with another Dragon Tail attack which send it on its back creating dust of dirt to cover where the Thunder Pokemon fell.

As the dust of dirt slowly disappeared in the air Electivire was shown and knocked out.

Paul was stunned at this. "I lost."

Cheren walked up to his starter Pokemon. "Serperior you were great." He stroked the regal Pokemon's face which it liked.

"Electivire return." Paul said looking a bit irritated but had to let it go. "You did a well."

Hilda couldn't believe it that Paul lost. "That's too bad Paul, but you did a good job." Despite the compliment that didn't seem to make her friend better. "I lost so what does it matter."

Cheren walked over the purpled haired trainer. "How about we battle again someday, then you can show me someday how strong you've gotten."

Paul nodded his head. "I will and I shall beat you the next time." Cheren smiled at the determination. "I like that kind of determination you show." He began to walk away until Hilda ran over towards him. "Wait, Cheren!"

That stopped her old traveling companion. "What is it?"

"I want to battle you too again someday too!" Hilda replied with determination as well. "I lost when we battled in the Unova League, but I'll get even stronger!"

Cheren chuckled at the girl's words. "I look forward to it, so see ya." Hilda smiled happily. "See ya Cheren!"

Paul knew he had to get stronger and that Unova trainers were not just strong but also intelligent with strategies that he's never seen before not mention moves. Knowing this he would have to use different battle styles as well. "I will keep getting stronger not matter what the costs." He looked at his Electivire's pokeball. "We'll get stronger I'll see to it."

End of chapter.
