Chapter 12: New Catches.

Paul and Hilda finally arrived at the Pokemon Center at the end of Route 9 to stop for a little rest, Paul got his Electivire checked while Hilda gave Nurse Joy her Eevee for a check up as well.

The two got a table to take a little rest. "So Paul, did you think of strategy of what Pokemon you'll use in the next Battle Frontier challenge?"

Paul just sipped his drink without saying a word. "Earth to Paul, are you there?" Hilda asked waving her hand slowly. "Hel-lo."

That didn't seem to get Paul's attention as he was lost in thought. "That battle was intense, battling Hilda was little tough but others trainers besides her must be stronger and have better stratgies." He remembered that using a move that would ellimiate a Pokemon's special ability imagine if he used that against his old Pokemon Infernape if its Blaze activated not only that his Serperior was fast maybe even faster than Ash's Pikachu.

Nurse came out. "Paul, Hilda!" She took out the two pokeballs. "I'm pleased tell you that Eevee and Electivire are fit and back to full recovery."

Paul took Electivire's pokeball. "Thanks Nurse Joy." He bowed in respect.

Hilda took Eevee's Pokeball. "Thank you Nurse Joy." She looked at the pokeball. "Eevee don't worry I'm make sure you'll get stronger by keep training."

Just then a little girl came running in the center to the front desk. "Oh is something wrong?" The pokemon nurse asked with concern.

"My Weepinbell got injured after battling a Vuplix at the nearby grassfield!" The girl cried out. "We tried to catch it but it was too strong."

That got Hilda's attention. "She must be talking about the Vuplix that got away." She smiled seeing this opporunity. "Let's go!" She knew this was time to get a second chance.

"I'll be back I'll going after that Vuplix!" Hilda ran off in a instant but she glanced at Paul. "I'll handle this Paul so don't worry about me."

That caused the purpled haired trainer to twitch. "Who said I was gonna worry."

Hilda went to the grassfield that was somewhere behind the grassfield that was also nearby a river. "So where that Vulpix?" Just then there was rustle sound in the grass which made Hilda turn her head to the direction of the sound.

There was Vulpix running across the grass. "There you are!" Hilda called out which made the fox pokemon stop in its tracks. "I'm here to challenge you again!" The Fox Pokemon looked at the girl for a moment before its full body turned to face her. "I take you accept, then let's go!" She took out her Pokeball and threw Eevee's Pokeball. "Eevee I know you just got out of the Pokemon center but this time I know we can win and capture it!"

Eevee looked at her trainer and smiled with a nod. "Great, Let's go Quick Attack!"

Vuplix did the same thing which caused itself and Eevee to slide backwards. "This Vulpix is strong!" She was about to command her Eevee to use its previous move when something clicked in her head which was her friend Cheren's words.

"You need to come up with a strategy no matters its a trainer's Pokemon and or a wild battle." Hilda's face turned to seriousness. "Right, Eevee just stand there!" Her evolution Pokemon did so which left Vuplix confused but used Quick Attack again. "Now use Sand-Attack!"

Eevee turned around and kicked sand into the fox's face which blinded it. "Great it can't see for awhile!" Hilda cheered and realized this was her chance. "Eevee Tackle attack!"

The Evolution Pokemon charged with a full body tackle and dealt damage to the fox Pokemon which made it fall on its side.

Vulpix got up looking hurt but still strong. "You aren't giving up, I like that!" Hilda said with a smile. "Eevee use Quick Attack!"

Vuplix's left ear slight moved and dodged it. "Eev!?" The Evolution Pokemon said in surprise.

"No way!" Hilda exclaimed. "It must sniffed out Eevee's hearing to sense where Eevee was coming from!" Realizing things got tricky Hilda knew she would have to come up with a different strategy. "Eevee use Quick Attack again!"

Vuplix just stood there and was hit on its side by Eevee's attack and landed next to close to the river when it heard the sound of the water it surprisingly put its face into the water. "What is it doing!?" Hilda questioned in confusing.

Vuplix pulled its face out and its eyes opened. "It washed its eyes out!" Hilda exclaimed.

The Fox Pokemon fired out blue fireball from its mouth which hit Eevee and burned it. "Eevee no!" Hilda cried out in worry.

Eevee felt the burn which was dealing damage. "Come on Eevee you can do it! So don't give in!" Those words opened the Evolution Pokemon's eyes as body shined with an orange aura. "Is that Facade?"

"That it is." A voice said as Hilda turned to see Cheren. "You're here still," Her old traveling companion didn't look at her. "It seems the trust you have in your Pokemon is doing well for you." He glanced at the girl. "I think its time you use the power."

Hilda nodded. "Eevee use Facade and show Vuplix how strong you are now!" Eevee glared at the fox Pokemon and charged at it which dealt serious damage.

Vuplix was sent flying into the air and landed on the ground. "That was some power." Cheren commented.

"Facade is something." Hilda agreed. "Let's get this over with, Eevee Quick Attack!" Vuplix was struggled to get up but Eevee got to closer before it could make another move and was hit on its side making the fox Pokemon to fall on its side again and faint.

"Good work!" Hilda took out an empty Pokeball. "Pokeball go!" The ball absorbed the Fox Pokemon and shook and shook as its circle glowed as Hilda hoped that this was it.

The pokeball stopped shaking and Hilda picked it up and cheered. "Alright I caught a Vulpix!"

Eevee cheered but knelt down. "Oh no Eevee." Cheren then took out a Cheri Berry. "Eat this it'll heal your burn." The Evolution Pokemon took a bite and its burn was gone.

"I'm not done." Cheren took out an Oran berry. "This will give you your energy back." Eevee the blue like berry and gained its strength back.

Eevee jumped up and down. "You're feeling better!" Hilda hugged her Eevee. "You were great!" Her Evolution Pokemon smiled and rubbed its face against her trainer's.

Cheren smiled and walked away which Hilda noticed. "Wait Cheren!" That stopped the other Unova Trainer. "Thank you for healing Eevee." The boy just waved his hand with a smile on his face.

Hilda then ran back to the Pokemon center and went over to Paul who was sitting at a table. "I take it that you captured it,"

Hilda put its pokeball out to her friend's face. "You bet I did and Eevee learned a new move too!" Paul smiled a bit. "I see, I hope it gets stronger." That motivated Hilda even more. "It will and someday I hope you and I can battle again!"

Conway was inside of Mt Moon.

He was gathering information on every Pokemon he seen so far in the different parts of the cave. "This shall be useful for my research." He began to take mental notes. Just then he saw something in the far corner of the cave which seemed to be un-usual rock. "What's that,"

He walked over and crouched down to get a closer look as he observed the strange rock but his eyes widened with excitement and shock. "Is this...a...a..." He picked up the rock realized it was a Pokemon Fossil. "This is a Dome Fossil!" His glassed glowed as he smirked. "I shall take this and save it." He placed in it a backpack. "If my research is correct this fossil is of Kabuto."

Just then he saw something moving in the shadows. "Sol!" A Solrock appeared from the corner. "Ah! A Solrock a Pokemon that lives the Hoenn Region." He got an idea. "I shall capture this one."

Solrock looked at the super nerd trainer and stared down like it wanted to battle too. "I take you want to battle, fine by me." He took a pokeball and threw it. "Slowking go!"

"Slow-king." The king like water pokemon said with his arms behind its back. "This Pokemon shall be ours."

Stone edges were summoned beside Solrock. "That's Stone Edge, Slowking Protect!" Conway commanded.

His Royal Pokemon created a light green shield that protected it from harm. "Quite predictable." He fixed his glasses.

Solrock then began to polish its body. "Solrock knows Rock Polish!" Conway exclaimed with a slight concern.

The Meteorite Pokemon then glide towards the royal Pokemon as it spun around with its rocky spines glowed light blue. "That's Gyro Ball!" Conway exclaimed again. "Use Protect!"

Before Slowking could react Solrock manage to hit it hard dealing a little damage. "That wasn't much effective but that was a good strategy." Conway commented looking impressed and smirked. "Now I want catch you even more." He fixed his glasses and got a serious. "Slowking use Work Up!"

The Royal Pokemon's body glowed red. "Now that your attack and special attacks are powered up, let's get this done." Conway said with a confident smile. "Slowking use Trick Room!"

A large light wall like barrier was created Slowking as its eyes glowed red surrounding it and Solrock.

"Sol?" The Meteorite Pokemon was confused at what was going on. "Confused are you," That got the Meteorite Pokemon to look at the super nerd. "If I were you I'd stop looking around and battle." He was clearly up to something but Solrock didn't realize it.

Solrock attempted to charge at Slowking but in the last minute the Royal Pokemon appeared before its opponent. "Now use Water Pulse!" The Royal Pokemon put its hands together creating a large ball of water and extended towards the Meteorite Pokemon which hit it and dealt super effective damage.

"Now wrap this up with Psychic!" Slowking's eyes glowed light blue which used to control the Meteorite Pokemon's body. "Now send it flying!" Slowking's eyes's opened wider and sent its opponent flying away and crashing into a wall. "Normal using a move against the same type usual doesn't do much damage but since Slowking was powered up, it shall do little more damage."

Solrock slide down to the ground knocked out. "Good now is my chance." Conway threw his Pokeball which absorbed the Meteorite Pokemon and began to shake as it did.

Conway looked at the ball as it made small sound with its circle like pokeball like button blinking on and off then at the last minute it stopped.

The super nerd picked up the Pokeball and smirked. "Solrock is mine."

"Slow-king!" The Royal Pokemon cheered.

Conway placed in its Pokeball in his bag. "I can't wait to see use it in battles." He fixed his glasses.

At the Pokemon center.

Paul and Hilda decided to the Dark Cave which leads to Lavender Town. "So Paul I caught a new Pokemon Vuplix, so you should catch a new one too."

Paul didn't say a word due to the girl's bragging. "You said that since we got here." He decided to press further into the subject. "Though I suppose getting another Pokemon wouldn't hurt as long as it lives up to my expections."

"Hey Paul!" A voice called out which was a male's and annoying at that.

Paul glanced behind and saw a boy running. "Paul, its been so long!" It was Barry a trainer that he battled in the Sinnoh Region. "I was told that you traveled here to the Kanto Region!" That got the purple haired trainer to raise his eyebrow. "Who was this person that told you?"

Barry gave a goofy grin. "That was your brother Reggie!" That figures for Paul knowing that his brother has a big mouth. "I figured as much." But the goofy trainer wasn't done talking. "I'm not done you see after the Sinnoh League and I decided to pay you visit so I gathered some info saying that your home was Vielstone City so I traveled there."

Paul just narrowed his eyes. "So what do you when you arrived there?"

Barrie chuckled with his hand on his head. "I met your brother of course though he told me you left for Kanto, after some talking with Reggie he bought a me a ticket for Kanto."

Paul wasn't trilled to hear this. "So you were following me or something?" Barry shrugged like it was a no big deal. "Sort of, I mean I wanted you battle you again but I can see have her."

Hilda was little offended as she took hold of the blonde's cheek. "I have a name and its Hilda I'm a Pokemon trainer!" That seemed to hurt Barry. "Ow! Talk about rude and that hurt!" Barry rubbed his cheek and pointed at the girl. "For that Hilda you're going to pay a fine!"

The Unova trainer sweat dropped at that remark. "Uh...fine?" Paul placed his hand the girl's shoulder. "Just ignore that idiot."

Barry then remembered something. "Oh I almost forget before I left Sinnoh I met an old lady that came from the region!" He began to search through his pocket. "This is a Pokeball, now I shall show you my first Unova Pokemon that the old lady gave me!"

Paul was a little interested. "Show it." Barry grinned. "Go Tepig!"

"Te-pig." A pig like creature appeared.

Hilda jumped in surprise. "Oh its a Tepig one of Unova starter Pokemon!" She started to pinch its cheeks. "So budgy-wudgy!"

"Anyway, since I'm here I would like to join you two on your journey." Barry stated taking the two trainers by surprise. "See I'm competiting in the Kanto League, so far..." He took out a badge case. "I got two badges from Pewter and Cerulean City gyms."

"I see, I'm also guessing that you heard we were heading in this direction," Paul guessed.

Barry placed his hands together. "Yes, so please let me join you two or you both will pay a fine!"

Paul was already too annoyed with this guy and his comically acts especially the "Fine" part but Hilda didn't seem too bothered by this. "Well I think its fine...so Paul what do you think?"

The purpled haired trainer stared at Barry for a moment. "Barry is idiot maybe more than Ash, though he wasn't a bad trainer..." He recalled how he was able to make some impression moves and acknowledged that their battle was great. "Very well, you can join us."

Barry pumped up his arm with excitement. "Alright, Paul, Hilda, from this point on we're friends!" He hugged them both.

Hilda giggled but Paul felt awkward about this now. "This guy is weird."
