Chapter 22: Silver
Those that know Silver are the rival from the Pokemon Game Silver and Gold, his character is based on Paul, though, I decided to make him appear as an actual character in my story, so, don't complain about my decision.
Paul and his group went to the Pokemon Center.
Paul gives Nurse Joy his Pokemon for a check-up which will take a half hour until she's done.
A short time later, the three decided to have a little snack time with some of their Pokemon.
"So, Hilda, did you come up with any ideas to win your rematch?" Daisy asked.
Hilda was drinking a soda and slowly paused for a moment with the soda can close to her mouth. "Gulp..."
Paul scoffed. "I think we know her answer,"
Hearing that made Hilda twitch violently in a comical way. "Hey, I got distracted by your upcoming battle with Greta, also, you did forget we were training to level up our Pokemon?!"
Paul wasn't phased at the young girl's temper tantrum. "No, but, that doesn't change the fact you haven't thought of more of your battle strategy."
Ding
Nurse Joy arrived at the counter. "I'm pleased to announce your Pokemon are well."
Paul nodded. "Thanks, Nurse Joy."
"Oh wait," This caused the purple-haired trainer to stop the moment and he turned his head around.
"I got a message from a blonde kid named Barry," Nurse Joy said handing a letter.
Paul took the letter and read it, he gasped quietly but, he smiled a bit. "If that's your decision, then, I suppose we'll meet again, though, I have to break the news to the others."
He did, the moment he returned to the table they were eating at.
"I see, that's disappointing, but, if that's Barry's decision, then we shall respect it," Daisy said a little sad.
Hilda felt a bit more down than the others. "Barry..."
Flick
Paul flicked Hilda's forehead using his fingers. "Stop it with that sad face, Barry decided to leave on his own for a while, so, we have to accept that."
"Oh come on, don't you at least feel a bit sad that Barry left?" Hilda questioned.
Paul sighed.
M
At the Saffron City Gym
The mysterious red-haired trainer was starting his battle against Sabrina.
"Sabrina vs the pokemon challenger Silver will begin!" Sabrina's father announced.
"I'll call upon Mr. Mime!"
"Mr. Mime!" The Mime Pokemon said while placing his hands in front.
"I can read you like a book, Sneasel stand by!"
"Sneasel!" The Sharp Claw Pokemon cried.
"A dark-type Pokemon is a good choice, however, I wonder if it'll be enough," Sabrina said calmly.
"I wouldn't get cocky, Sneasel use Taunt!"
Sneasel began to motion its claw finger in a taunting gesture and make a face.
Mr. Mime was infuriated at the taunt.
"Oh no!" Sabrina yelled.
"Yes, now, you can't use status moves for a while," Silver said confidently.
Sabrina kept her cool. "No matter, Mr. Mime use Energy Ball!"
"Sneasel Ice Beam!"
The Mime and Sharp Claw Pokemon unleashed their special attacks which made contact, both releasing strong forces feeling the tension between them.
"Sneasel, follow up with Blizzard!" The strong blizzard was blown from Sneasel's mouth which surrounded the Ice Beam, though, it overpowered the Psybeam.
Sabrina and Mr. Mime gasped in shock.
Mr. Mime was caught in the icy beam blizzard combination, feeling the strong cold around its body, and was frozen.
"Oh no!" Sabrina cried in shock.
"Sneasel, wrap this up with Night Slash!"
The Sharp Claw Pokemon created a purple energy sword in the palm of one of its hands and then grabbed it with the other hand. Then it slashed the opponent like a swordsman.
The ice that trapped Mr. Mime was shattered into pieces with the Pokemon laying on its back with dizzy eyes.
"Mr. Mime is unable to battle Sneasel is the winner!" Sabrina's father announced
"Alright, Mr. Mime return," Sabrina recalled her Pokemon and smiled a bit. "You did well, now get a good rest."
Sabrina's father was impressed by the challenger's first win. "That boy's strategy was impressive."
Sabrina thought the same thing. "I must say, you did quite well, you used Ice Beam and unleashed a powerful blizzard which combined with the Ice beam making the attack not only more freezing but more damaging."
She took out her next Pokeball. "Well, you might be a challenge, that's it, go Alazakam!"
"Alakazam!" The Psi Pokemon said.
"I'll be sticking with Sneasel," Silver said calmly.
"Alright, Charge Beam!"
Alakazam gathered electrical energy and fired an electrical beam towards Sneasel.
"Use Ice Beam!"
The attacks collided together, both attacks were seemingly matched and then the attacks exploded.
Sabrina covered her face using her arms, though, Silver was unphased.
"Not bad, keep up the Charge Beam!" Sabrina commanded.
Silver just grinned. "Predictable, Sneasel keep using Ice Beam!"
The two continued to use their special attacks, then after a few minutes, Alakazam's Charge Beam seemed to be getting stronger.
Soon Sneasel's Ice Beam was overwhelmed and was eventually hit by the Charge Beam.
"You forgot that Charge Beam sometimes gets stronger and stronger the times it's used," Sabrina explained.
Sneasel recovered however, it began to pant like it was running out of energy.
"Sneasel, use Night Slash!"
"Figured you'd do that, Alakazam use Focus Blast!"
Alakazam gathered energy between its hands and fired the blue light ball directly at Sneasel.
The Focus Blast soon hit Sneasel dealing super effective damage and causing it to crash onto the ground with dust appearing from the crash.
The dirt cloud was soon cleared revealing Sneasel to be unconscious.
"Sneasel is unable to battle, Alakazam wins!" Sabrina's father announced.
"Sneasel return, you could've done better," Silver scolded coldly.
Sabrina heard this and was shocked to hear something from a trainer, however, she knew she had to focus on the battle. "So, what will you do now?"
"I'll win, no matter what," Silver answered taking out another Pokeball. "I choose Haunter!"
Sabrina was a bit impressed. "Wow, a Haunter, looks well trained."
"Enough, let's just battle," Silver suggested abruptly. "Haunter use Shadow Ball!"
"Alakazam use Charge Beam!"
Shadow Ball and Charge Beam collided, though, due to Charge Beam's effect, it was able to overpower Haunter's ghost attack.
"Dodge it!"
Haunter was able to evade the attack only by a scratch from the electrical beam.
"Not bad, that Haunter is fast," Sabrina complimented. "Well, I won't let up, Alakazam use Psychic!"
The Psi Pokemon created a psychic wave that surrounded Haunter, stopping it from fleeing away.
"Haunter, get your hands out of that Psychic!"
Haunter's pair of hands were able to move out of the psychic energy.
"No way!" Sabrina exclaimed as her Alakazam was just shocked.
"Now use Shadow Ball!"
Haunter's pair of hands gathered energy creating a dark ball and tossed it directly down at Alakazam.
"Alakazam use Psychic on Shadow Ball and send it back!" Sabrina commanded.
Releasing Haunter from the psychic energy and using it to repel Shadow Ball.
"Charge towards the Shadow Ball!"
Haunter did so, leaving Sabrina confused. "What is he doing?"
A faint rough smile formed on Silver's face. "Destiny Bond."
Haunter was eventually knocked out though dark energy came out of his eyes and then engulfed Alakazam, which made it fall in defeat.
"Haunter and Alakazam are about unable to battle!"
Sabrina was quite surprised. "So, you used Destiny Bond to take down my Alakazam, I bet you did that because even if you landed a hit with that Shadow Ball, my Alakazam wouldn't go down that easily. So you had Haunter use Destiny Bond to take my Alakazam too."
Silver nodded as he took his third Pokeball out. "Yes, but, enough talk, go Kingdra!"
"Wow, a Kingdra, you've proven to be quite the challenger, though, this time, I'll get serious, Espeon go!" Sabrina tossed one more Pokeball.
"Espeon!" The Sun Pokemon said.
"Third battle begins now!"
"Now, Kingdra Hydro Pump!"
The large sea Dragon unleashed a strong jet of water.
"Espeon use Psybeam!"
The Sun pokemon unleashed its psychic beam of energy.
Both attacks made contact and caused a big explosion of smoke.
"Not bad, but, to be on the safe side, Espeon use Calm Mind!"
The Sun Pokemon began to focus on its mind and increase its special attack and defense power.
"Now, special attack and defense are powered up, predictable, Kingdra use Agility!" Silver commanded.
The Dragon Pokemon began to move quickly like it was vanishing in thin air.
"Whoa, that Kingdra can move fast," Sabrina's father commented in surprise.
"Espeon doesn't pathetic, sense where Kingdra is!"
Espeon focused its hearing and calmly relaxed its head, listening and listening to the fast pace that Kingdra was displaying.
Then it felt the Kingdra's presence on the left side. "Now use Psybeam!"
Kingdra was hit directly at the side of its body which sent it back a bit.
"Direct hit and Kingdra is still standing, you trained it well," Sabrina complimented.
Despite the friendly compliment, Silver didn't smile. "Hmph...I'm just getting warmed up, Kingdra use Twister!"
The Dragon Pokemon summoned out a large twister which began to swirl around towards Espeon.
"Quick Espeon uses Quick Attack to dodge it!"
In a single moment, Espeon used its speed attack to avoid the large twister.
"Kingdra keep it up!"
The twister turned around and followed Espeon like a torpedo.
"What the heck?" Sabrina said in shock.
Sabrina's father had the same reaction. "Is Kingdra controlling the twister?"
Espeon kept running away, but, the Twister was still on its tail. "Espeon can't keep running, one trip and it'll be caught in the twister."
Sabrina had an idea. "Wait, I got it, Espeon use Psychic to control the twister!" The Sun Pokemon's eyes glowed brightly blue.
The twister was soon controlled by Espeon's Psychic move which stopped moving.
"Wha!?" Silver exclaimed.
"Now send that twister back!" Sabrina commanded.
Silver's shocked face was replaced by a smirk. "I figured, use Rain Dance!"
Kingdra summoned a rain storm that baffled Sabrina. "What is he up to?"
But, before she could react to her Espeon, Kingdra swiftly dodged the twister which crashed into a nearby wall and vanished.
"Whoa, Kingdra was fast, no, it got faster than ever," Sabrina said looking concerned as she looked around.
Espeon was doing the same and was starting to freak out a bit.
"Kingdra use Twister!"
In the blink of an eye, the Dragon Pokemon appeared right in front of Espeon.
"Espeon!?" The Sun Pokemon cried in shock.
"That was fast!" Sabrina exclaimed sharing the same reaction.
Kingdra summoned another twister only this time catching Espeon as it was spinning around inside it taking damage.
"Now use Scald on the Twister!"
Kingdra unleashed a stream of hot steaming water which directly hit the large twister and was getting hotter.
The twister soon became so hot that Espeon began to take more damage.
"Espeon no!" Sabrina cried.
Once the twister evaporated, Espeon was seen on the ground and unconscious.
"Espeon is unable to battle! Kingdra wins, therefore the winner is Silver!" Sabrina's father announced.
"Kingdra return," Silver said despite not smiling.
"Espeon return," Sabrina said with a proud smile. "You battled hard, so get a nice long rest."
A short time later.
Sabrina went to talk with Silver. "Silver, you proved to be a challenger, though, it wouldn't hurt to show some compassion towards your Pokemon that either win or lose."
Silver didn't reply to that, so, Sabrina just handed the badge. "Here, the Marsh Badge is yours, I hope to see how strong you become in the future."
"Thank you, Sabrina," Silver took the badge and left.
Hearing the advice made his blood boil. "Tsk, compassion, I will become the strongest Pokemon trainer regardless of what others think, no matter the cost." He thought.
M
The three were still at the Pokemon Center.
Paul was discussing Hilda's strategy for her rematch
"It's obvious that Sabrina has Pokemon use status moves to power up her Pokemon's attack and defense, which are for special moves and defense," Hilda spoke.
"Yes, no doubt, she'll do that again, though, she might come up with other strategies," Paul said. "Remember what Cheren said, using the same strategy could be predictable, that and your opponent will have a way to counter it."
Hilda had to admit she was impressed. "I must say, you have taken Cheren's words to heart."
"I think it's time you should work on what Pokemon you should use and what strategies you can think of on what Pokemon you choose to battle with," Daisy suggested.
Hilda realized that they had a point. "All this time I should've thought of better strategies, the gym leaders will be stronger, not only that, each one will have their different battle style." He looked at her Pokeballs for a moment...
"Paul, Daisy..." She then looked confident. "I know what Pokemon I'll be using this time...first, I'll make a call to Professor Oak."
Paul smiled a bit. "Good."
"That's the spirit," Daisy praised.
Silver was on his way from the gym. "I wonder if Paul is around." He wondered. "Either way, I got three badges, so, now, it's time to pay a visit to Celadon City."
Silver's Pokemon are based on the game and manga series with different moves, so, I don't want to see any bad reviews on my choice for Silver's Pokemon.
