Chapter 30: Return of the Ghost Maiden Part 2
Two new characters show up, the rest will be explained through the chapter.
Hilda went to the Pokemon Center's front desk to talk to Nurse Joy, and the others followed her. "Nurse Joy!" she called out.
"What is wrong, miss?" The nurse trainer asked politely.
"Did you see another famous Pokemon professor? He wears glasses and has brown hair," Hilda replied. "And his name is Elm."
"Sorry, nobody has come here yet," Nurse Joy shook her head. "Besides, it's already past curfew, so, I suggest you and your friends get some sleep."
"But, Nurse Joy, what professor is lost out there somewhere?" Hilda asked worried.
"He'll be fine..." Daisy Oak spoke calmly. "I'm sure the professor found a place to spend the night and he has Corsola with him."
"She's right, for now, let's get some rest for the night," Conway agreed fixing his glasses.
Paul didn't say a word but he had to agree with the two.
Hilda decided to accept their suggestions. "Alright, thanks Nurse Joy, keep an eye out for the professor." The Pokemon nurse nodded her head with a friendly smile.
Down the dock was the old woman. "It's been so long since I came here. Nothing has changed but the legend of the maiden still continues thanks to me." She began to take the form of Gastly. "I intend to make good bucks of this." He then sensed something of the peak area. "What is this, I sense another ghostly presence."
The next morning.
Paul and Conway were brushing their teeth. "Dang it, this brushing takes long."
"Maybe so, but, taking long means it'll help keep teeth clean," Conway smirked shining his teeth. "Surely, your brother told you that."
Paul gave a low grunt feeling annoyed.
"Anyway..." Conway looked at the remaining empty bed that Professor Elm was going to use. "Professor Elm hasn't returned yet, I wonder why."
By the cliff by Maiden's Rock, was Professor Elm's Pokeball.
It began to shake and out came Corsola. "Corsola..." it spoke, looking around for its trainer. "Corsola?" it questioned in confusion. "Corsola...Corsola." It began to jump toward the nearby forest.
Professor Elm was wearing a cloak and hoody covering his head and arrived at the dock seeing the tourists checking out the food joints. Each person had a smile on their face while eating delicious meals.
A few children were running and playing around.
"2000 years have certainly passed since my time on earth." Professor Elm spoke in a ghostly male voice. "I wonder why my true love is." He began as memories inside his mind were quite blurry. "Dang it, if only my memory wasn't so foggy and where is Misdevious?"
The old woman was quietly walking around seeing the tourists. "This place is just as crowded as before. I guess I was able to give life back to the old legend." She thought as her eyes glowed purple. "My job paid off more than I thought. It has been too long since I left here." The old woman(Gastly)looked a bit disappointed. "I was unable to find traces of the warrior, I did manage to find the location of the maiden's true love where he passed, but, I couldn't find his spirit. Where could the spirit of the Maiden's true love be?"
Misdreavus was floating around in invisible mode. "The warrior has possessed a human professor, I need to find it." A small growl came from its stomach. "I think I need to eat first..." It was a female Misdreavus. "I was locked in that ancient Pokeball for so many years...my trainer...needs..." She attempted to float in the air but her consciousness was fading away due to hunger. "I must use whatever energy I can to take the shape of a human." It transformed into a short old man with bald hair and a bushy mustache. "With this disguise, I can blend in with the human festival."
Paul and the others were dressed for the day and had an earlier breakfast to get a head start to search for Professor Elm.
"How shall we search for the professor," Hilda inquired.
Conway had a suggestion. "I will go into town with Daisy Oak while you two check the peak where the Maiden's Rock is."
"Good idea, we'll cover more ground," Daisy added.
Paul had to agree for once but didn't say a word.
A short time later.
At the dock, more tourists arrived checking the shops.
Conway pushed his glasses back as they shined from the sun's light. "To think more people would be here. Then again, this is the day when the people light some small boats to help lost spirits."
"Correct young man..." There was the old woman. "I can tell you got some interesting intel on the Summer Festival."
Daisy had a question for the old woman. "Excuse me, pardon my interruption, but, did you happen to see another professor around, he had brown hair and wears glasses."
"You mean Professor Elm, I believe I noticed him around, but I assumed he was checking the shops," The old woman replied with a shrug. "I tried to walk toward him but the crowd got in my way and once they cleared, your friend was gone."
Daisy was getting a little worried. "Did you happen to see a Pokemon named Corsola with him or at least his Pokeball?"
"Sorry, but, I hadn't noticed that either, miss." The small old woman turned around and began to walk away.
"Wait...could you at least tell us if you have heard of a Gastly with a unique ability?" Daisy's question caused the old woman to stop in her tracks, but she didn't say a word.
"I...might have heard of a rumor about it, but, people say it was just using hypnosis, a different kind that is," The old woman replied not even turning to face the two. "Either way, I suggest you continue to search for your friend."
At Maiden's Peak
There was a stone that was shaped like the Maiden.
Paul was looking at the old shrine. "This shrine is quite strange."
"Paul, over here!" Hilda was crouched down looking at an empty Pokeball. "It's a Pokeball, I bet it belonged to the professor's Corsola...look there." Small footprints that looked like they came from Pokemon coral-like footprints. "They lead to the forest."
"Quite observant of you," Paul commented with an emotionless look.
"Is that supposed to be a compliment or not, jerk!" Hilda barked pulling the boy's cheeks.
"Cut that out!" Paul barked in a muffled tone.
The two went into the forest following a hiking trail.
"Looks like this trail was here for years," Hilda said noticing the trail a little grass along.
"It seems so, perhaps, there's another area that was noticed by Ash and his friends when they arrived here." Paul thought.
Paul's theory was confirmed when they finally arrived at another shrine that was abandoned. "This is a new..." Hilda commented.
"I think now is an understatement..." Paul begged to differ considering the state of the shrine. "This looks over a thousand or more years old. Not only that, it is similar to the shrine by Maiden's Peak's shrine."
"Yes, but, I wonder why this is still here," Hilda went up close to get a better look. "The wood is quite old and I'm surprised it's been here for many years." She noticed the same footprints were going into the entrance of the shrine. "Looks like Corsola went inside." She carefully walked inside the old shrine. "Corsola, Corsola, you in here?"
The sound of something stepping or jumping on the old wood floor was heard from in the dark. "Corsola, Corsola!" Corsola hopped toward Hilda looking happy to see her trainer's friend.
"Corsola!" Hilda embraced the Coral Pokemon in comfort. "Where have you been and how is the professor?"
Corsola lifted its head and shook its head signaling the trainer that it didn't know where its trainer was.
Paul had a bad feeling about this. "Looks like the professor might've dropped Corsola's Pokeball somehow and wandered. The main question is, why did he?"
"Either way, we should get back to the Pokemon Center and drop Corsola there,"
"Corsola, Corsola!" The Coral Pokemon said despite being exhausted it was determined to find its trainer.
Hilda clearly understood the Pokemon's speaking. "I see, you want to help find Professor Elm, that's fine us, right Paul?"
Paul sighed. "Very well..." He tossed the Pokeball at Hilda, who caught it. "You should hang onto it just in case, Corsola were to get tired." Hilda nodded her head.
At the dock, two individuals wearing black suits and strange glass wear devices over their eyes arrived. The first one was a skinny wimpy guy and the second was a tall yet overweight man "To think the mystery of the Maiden's Peak would have more entertainment than I'd thought."
"Yes, I wonder what kind of mysteries will be waiting for us to discover."
The small old woman was watching the duo. "Who are those two?"
Daisy was asking some tourists about Professor Elm's whereabouts by showing them a picture. The tourists shook their heads in response.
Conway was at the dock searching. "To think this would take longer than I'd expected but considering this is the second day of the festival it would make sense for more people to show up." He then noticed the two individuals walking. "Who are those two?" He could tell the two were shady considering how they were dressed.
The two shady duo acted naturally through the tourists as they looked around. "To think that this place has such mystery...yes, a mystery that is waiting to be solved."
One was tall and skinny and the other was overweight. Both had dark skin.
"That's right, bro. Mysteries that are waiting to be solved and which will lead to some ancient Pokemon that are also waiting to be discovered."
Conway barely could hear the duo speaking due to the tourist's noise but he still kept a close eye on them. "Those two are quite suspicious alright."
Soon the duo was away from the dock and was approaching Maiden's Rock. Dean took out a strange device that resembled a detector. "Merwin, I'm detecting some readings, it's faint but...beeping."
"Really, what kind of readings, brother?" The overweight man asked eagerly.
Dean let out a small chuckle. "Not sure, but whatever left this reading was here just recently." She pointed the device at the forest. "The detector's scanning is detecting more energy coming to that trail."
M
Sunset was approaching.
Paul and Hilda continued to look around the old shrine. "So far nothing..." Paul said. "Perhaps we should get our Pokemon to assist. Scyther stand by!"
Before they called out their Pokemon, they heard faint footsteps coming from the trail.
Paul sensed this. "Someone is there!"
From the trees between the trail was Professor Elm. "Professor Elm!" Hilda exclaimed surprised but became relieved. "Oh thank goodness, you're safe, I was worried...I didn't-" She was stopped abruptly by Paul's arm. "What is it, Paul?"
Paul didn't answer as he cautiously approached the Johto professor. "Professor Elm, what have you been doing since yesterday besides taking a tour of Maiden's Peak?"
A smirk was shown on the professor's face. "To think things have changed since the last time I was still breathing." The words that left his mouth made Hilda feel uneasy. Paul narrowed his eyes and the Pokemon looked on edge.
"To think Kanto has changed for many centuries since the war. Pokemon being in strange devices and no battle armor has been made, the people must've gotten soft these years."
Hilda was puzzled hearing such weird stuff coming from the famous professor. "Professor Elm, what are you talking about?"
Paul had a pretty good idea of what was going on. "You're not the professor Elm..."
"Very observant of you young man." This time Elm's voice sounded deep but more as the air grew tense and blew around like a flying Pokemon using a powerful gust attack.
The professor began to float in the air. "I waited for so long to see my...love...again...I can't...find her..." Tears came down from the professor's eyes but the one thing is they weren't his tears but someone else's.
Hilda could tell that something was off. "Who are you, you're not the professor Elm we know!"
"Quite correct, little girl, I have traveled from Johto to see the lost love of mine!" The possessed Professor Elm stated. "As you probably heard, the war that happened 2000 years ago was the last one that happened when you call the region Johto to this day!"
Paul's eyes widen. "Wait, this spirit that is controlling the professor is the..." He did find this hard to believe or to put in words.
"If you're telling the truth that you're the long-lost love of the maiden, give us some proof!" Hilda requested.
The professor put his arms around and everything went suddenly black in a split second and the scenery changed with a battlefield taking around.
Soldiers wearing battle armor and charging at each other while screaming out their battle cries.
Pokemon of different species joined in the war fighting any other Pokemon that stood in their way.
The sight was quite horrific. Hilda covered her mouth. "This is the war that Maiden's true love was in..." Her Pokemon were surprised to see such a war and the Pokemon that joined in.
Paul didn't react but just stood and watched the battle rage on.
"Look closely at one individual," There was a soldier who resembled Brock, but, he was much taller, and alongside him was Misdreavus. "My Misdreavus and I fought hard to survive...the battle raged on days became weeks...weeks became months...however...during the last final battle..."
The warrior and his Misdreavus fought against a big strong general with a Tyranitar. "The general that led the enemy army was strong. Tyranitar was a formidable opponent and being part Dark Type put Misdreavus at a disadvantage, but we still kept battling hard until we managed to pull through and win...or so I thought..." A group of enemy soldiers with several Koffings and Ekans came at the warrior and Misdreavus. "I continued to fight against the enemy soldiers and Misdreavus dealt with the enemy Pokemon...however...the battle took a toll on our bodies...we were exhausted...on the brink of the end for our lives..."
"What happened to Misdreavus?" Hilda asked with a worried look.
The possessed Professor Elm looked down. "What I had to...I took out the old Pokeballs we used for catching Pokemon back in my day...I decided to keep Misdreavus knowing it would be able to survive even after a thousand years or more pass."
Paul looked at the professor. "Are you saying that you were going to sacrifice yourself but let your Pokemon live on?"
"Yes...deep down I couldn't let Misdreavus die with me, it deserved a peaceful life where it could be happy...despite Misdreavus protests, I made up my mind and before I could was able to get my dear friend back to its Pokeball and toss it out of the enemy territory while I perished...though it still pains me to know I wouldn't be able to see my true love..."
The scenery changed back to the area where the old shrine is. "This shrine you see was built many years ago it was the exact place where I met the woman I loved. Unfortunately, once my spirit didn't rest and I kept haunting the old enemy's abandoned base for so many years until an earthquake occurred releasing an ancient Pokeball that I had placed Misdreavus in and that's when I realized that one of my allies must've brought my dear friend back I was taken aback but despite what I did to my friend. Misdreavus still wanted to help me reunite with the woman I loved."
Corsola was practically brought to tears. "Cor...Corsola..."
Hilda was touched by such a story. "Aw, that's so sweet."
"Quite sweet indeed!"
"Yes, too bad, spirit you'll be coming along with us!"
Paul and Hilda along with their Pokemon to where the voices came from and saw the duo.
"To think a spirit would possess famous Professor Elm!"
"Talk about a twist of events that's beyond scientific knowledge!"
Hilda kept her guard on. "Who the heck are you two?"
"I'm Dean!" The skinny limp man stated.
"And I'm Merwin!" The big chubby man added.
"Together, we are the Pokemon Mystery Club Brothers!"
"The what?" Paul questioned tilting his head with an annoyed look.
"Our organization loves to solve ancient Pokemon that come from outer space...while some others like to investigate mysteries that involve ghosts or spirits such as Professor Elm's condition!" Merwin stated as he pointed at the Johto professor.
"Yes, once we capture the spirit, we'll learn the secrets of the spirit world and other secrets of the afterlife which will light up our reputation as members of the PMC!" Dean proclaimed excitedly.
Hilda saw otherwise. "If you do that, this spirit warrior won't be able to reunite with his true love!"
Dean smirked. "Heheheh...we're aware of that...but, it won't matter, once we find out where the spirit of the maiden is, we'll capture her as well!"
Hearing that made Hilda upset. "It won't happen because Paul and I will protect them from jerks like you!" The two PMC members looked at the girl. "Spirits aren't animals that should be captured and held in a cage! They deserve to be free!"
"Sorry little girl, but, that's how life is...preserving science is how PMC does!" Merwin argued. "As much I would like to debate more about this, we have to get going, get the robot out!"
Dean and Merwin started putting together a big robot in a matter of seconds and once it was complete.
"That robot...is huge!" Hilda exclaimed in shock.
The two PMCs grinned proudly. "Of course it's big..."
"After all, we are members of the PMC and have to keep our reputation!"
The robot had a strange vacuum-like machinery on its back with a hose. "Time for operation capture spirit..."
"Yes, brother!" Dean took out a Pokeball and threw it. "Go, Absol!"
"Absol!"
"What Pokemon is that?" Hilda took out her Pokedex and scanned it. "Absol, the Disaster Pokemon. Absol lives in the steep mountainous regions and rarely ventures down into areas inhabited by humans but should an Absol be seen by humans it is said that catastrophe is soon to follow."
"Absol use Flash on the professor to lure the spirit out!" Dean commanded.
Corsola charged at Absol. "Absol use Thunderbolt on that oversized coral pest!" The Disaster Pokemon unleashed a bolt of electricity at the Coral Pokemon which electrocuted it dealing super effective damage causing the poor Pokemon to faint on the ground.
"Corsola!" Hilda cried holding the Pokemon in her arms. "I think you should return to the Pokeball for a rest."
Merwin chuckled with a scoff. "Absol, resume your Flash on the possessed professor!"
The black circle on Absol's forehead glowed with a white ball then launched streams of light at the professor which was seemingly affecting the spirit that possessed it luring it out of the professor.
Paul took out his Pokeball. "I don't much about this PMC nonsense, but, I suppose I should take control of this situation."
Merwin saw this and tossed a Pokeball then out came a Umberon.
"Whoa, another Pokemon!" Hilda took out her Pokedex once more. "Umbreon, the Moonlight Pokemon. When an Eevee has sufficient training and is exploded to the moonlight it evolves into Umbreon."
"Charmander stand by!" Paul continued throwing his Pokeball.
"Char...char!" The Lizard Pokemon said.
"Umbreon..."
Absol's Flash was seemingly releasing the spirit from Professor Elm's body. "I can't...get...caught..."
"I have to help the spirit!" Hilda took out her Pokeball and tossed it. "Samurott go!"
"Samurott!"
"Use Scald on the robot!" Hilda commanded.
Before the giant otter-like Pokemon could unleash its boiling water torrent, it was tackled in the fact by Umbreon.
"Good job, follow it up with Shadow Ball!"
Umbreon hurled a few shadow-like orbs at Samurott which landed a few hits causing the Pokemon to fall on its side.
"Time to bring this battle to the next level!" Merwin took out another Pokeball and tossed it.
Out of the Pokeball was a Seviper. "Hey, using another Pokemon is unfair!"
"Tough luck little girl! Seviper, use Sludge Bomb on Samurott!" The viper-like snake fired multiple globs of brown sludge
"Charmander Flamethrower counter shield!" Charmander got in front of the brown sludges and swung its body around releasing the flames in a circle creating a fire-like shield that burned the sludge.
"Holy moly!" Merwin exclaimed in disbelief.
"Two-on-one is unfair...I don't like trainers that cheat...those kind of people make me sick!" Paul protested looking ticked off.
"Paul..." Hilda whispered astonished.
"I will not be lectured by a little brat!" Merwin yelled stomping his feet. "Umbreon use Dark Pulse and Seviper use Flamethrower!"
"Charmander use your Flamethrower!"
"Samurott use Scald!"
At Maiden's Peak.
There was Maiden's rock still as ever and intact. The small old man was there. "To think after all these years, the young master's true love would have waited for 2000 years."
"My love...I'm waiting for...you...come back to me..." A faint female voice chanted from the rock-like statue.
"That voice..." The small old man said squinting his eyes toward the stone statue. "The young master's true love...her spirit...is..."
"Hey, you!" Daisy called out to the small old man. "You're new around here, are you a tourist or something?"
The small old man turned the scientist researcher cautiously until they heard a strong explosion from up the trial.
"What was that?" Daisy asked.
"Not sure, but it must be trouble!" The old man said as he looked back at the dock. "I get the feeling this will draw unwanted attention from the tourists." He then looked at Daisy. "Young miss, I will investigate the noise, you must keep the tourists calm before things get out of control!"
Daisy didn't want to leave her friends alone, but, she had to have faith that her friends were safe. "Very well, I leave my friends to return to you." She quickly ran back toward the festival.
B
After smoke from the four Pokemon's attacks cleared they were shown to be still standing.
"Such power..." Paul thought.
Merwin smirked. "Not bad kid, but, my Pokemon are strong! Umbreon use your Agility!"
Umbreon began to dash with incredibly fast speed.
"Seviper use Dig!"
Seviper dug into the ground.
"Samurott stand still and wait..." Hilda commanded.
"Charmander, you stand still too!" Paul commanded.
Merwin was puzzled by the two same commands from the two kids but ignored them. "Not sure what those twerps are up to, but, as long as I can stall time for Dean, then the spirit will be captured!"
Umbreon was getting closer and closer to Samurott and once it was close that's when Merwin made his move. "Umbreon use Shadow Ball!" The Darkness Pokemon opened its mouth and a dark ball of energy was launched.
"Samurott counter with Water Pulse!"
The two attacks collided creating an explosion with smoke blowing around the area.
Charmander covered his eyes from the smoke. "Char...Char..."
"Charmander stand tough and be on guard for Seviper!" Paul demanded.
"Peek-a-boo!" Merwin taunted with a smirk.
Seviper emerged its head from the ground in front of Charmander opening its mouth wide. "Seviper!" The purple coral snake wrapped its body around Charmander's body tightly.
"Char!" The Lizard Pokemon cried in pain feeling its body being squeezed tightly.
"Merwin, the spirit is losing its grip on the professor, it'll be captured in a few minutes!" Dean called from within the robot's cockpit.
"Good, you and Absol keep it up while I handle these brats!" Merwin replied.
"Samurott use Aqua Jet on Seviper!" Hilda commanded.
"I wouldn't do that!" Merwin warned. "If you use that move, I'll just have Seviper release itself from Charmander and you'll end up hitting your friend's Pokemon instead!"
Hilda gritted her teeth knowing that the enemy had a point.
"Charmander use Fire Fang!" Paul commanded suddenly.
Charmander opened its mouth and its fangs ignited in flames biting on the snake's body.
"Ah!" Merwin exclaimed in shock.
"Seviper!" The snake hissed in pain releasing its wrap around its enemy.
"Follow it up with Dragon Claw!" Charmander swiped its right claw which glowed a light blue and slashed the snake in the face.
Seviper fell and was unconscious with dizzy eyes.
"Umbreon use Dark Pulse on Charmander!" Merwin ordered taking by surprise.
Umbreon fired a dark stream of energy at the Lizard Pokemon.
"Samurott uses Aqua Jet while Umbreon is distracted!"
The large otter-like Pokemon launched itself at the Darkness Pokemon and slammed itself into it knocking it down on the ground.
"Dang it, those brats managed to defeat Merwin's Pokemon, no matter, in a few seconds the spirit will be ours and we'll make a run for it!" Dean thought. Then he noticed Paul's Charmander wasn't around. "Where is it that lizard runt?"
"Charmander do it!" Taken by surprise, Absol was pushed from underneath the ground by Charmander's head stopping its Flash attack.
"Oh no!" Dean exclaimed in surprise.
"Charmander wrap this with Flamethrower!" Paul commanded with a rough smile.
"Char!" The Lizard Pokemon unleashed a fiery breath which engulfed the Disaster Pokemon and once the flames were burnt out, Absol was seen standing and fell over unconscious.
"Samurott use Razor Shell on that robot at full power!"
Samurott took hold of two of the scallops with blades made of water and leaped at the robot and slashed it leaving an x-like cross on the robot's chest and malfunctioning until it exploded. "Return Umbreon and Seviper! Merwin called back his Pokemon and jumped up to the robot's cockpit along with Absol which the door opened.
"C'mon, let's defeat these brats!" He yelled.
"Yeah, we're not going to let this defeat us!" Dean proclaimed activating a few buttons with his remote. "Fire missiles!"
Merwin raised his arm with his Pokemon at his side. "Take these brats!"
Suddenly the missiles were repelled by a mysterious power. "Psychic..." A Misdreavus was seen in front of Paul and Hilda using its Psychic move to repel the missiles and send them all back.
"Ahhhhh!" Dean and Merwin along with Absol screamed as the missiles exploded on the robot sending them flying out of the smoke that was caused by the explosion. "We lost our chance to capture a one of a kind spirit..."
"No fair, we blew it, bro!"
"Ab...sol..."
In a flash, they were gone.
"Looks like I didn't need to assist after all..." Conway was there who just arrived. "To think I would meet another talking Pokemon."
"Conway..." Hilda ran toward the nerd Pokemon trainer. "Where were you?"
"I just arrived here and it seems you two handled things well." Conway pushed his glasses back which shined brightly.
"Thank you..." The professor spoke in a ghostly tone.
"Why is the professor talking funny?" Conway inquired.
"I think it's obvious..." The small old lady arrived next and took the form of Gastly.
"The talking Gastly!" Hilda pointed out as she took out her Pokedex. "Gastly a Ghost Pokemon. It is usually invisible. Its specialty is Hypnosis."
"The spirit is the warrior that died in battle in another region which was the Johto from 2000 years ago." Gastly answered.
"That's right," Misdreavus added. "I met the warrior there and helped him in battle, however, my friend lost his life and was willing to let me go free, but, the only thing that hurt him was that he wasn't going to be able to see the woman he loved..."
"Until...now..." Hilda presumed.
"I wasn't able to sleep..." The spirit spoke through Professor Elm's voice. "I knew I couldn't rest until I found the maid that I loved. Knowing her, she would be waiting for me..."
"That's right," Hilda approached the possessed professor. "The maid was waiting for you for 2000 years and still waited for you to return."
A short time later.
The gang returned to Maiden's Rock.
The possessed professor approached the rail that was across from the rock-like statue. "My love...I've been waiting to see you for so long...2000 years I died in the war...when I lost my life I was hurting...not just from the battle but knowing I wouldn't be able to see your smiling face and the gentleness you have given me through the times we spent together." The professor's eyes were leaking tears which were from the spirit. "My love...please...answer me...I know you can hear me..."
Silent was in the air until the faint spirit mass began to emerge from the stone statue. "Oh, my love..." The mass took the shape of the maid. "I waited for 2000 years...I...missed you..." Tears were forming in the maid's eyes.
The spirit of the warrior left Professor Elm's body revealing his true form wearing the armor and helmet. "My love...I waiting to see you again even if we're not alive, I hope to see you even in death..."
The two spirits began to glow brightly as they held hands and began to float into the air. They took one last look at the trainers. "You kids...we are grateful that you reunited us...we can finally rest in peace...now."
"Yes, all thanks to you and your friends...farewell and live on...Misdrevaus..thank you...my old friend...take care...I know we'll meet again someday..."
Misdreavus smiled happily but she felt hurt that her dear friend was leaving again. "Yes...old friend...rest in peace..." She sobbed.
"C'mon..." Professor Elm was standing up but barely. "If you want you can stick around this place or travel with Gastly."
Gastly smiled. "Yes, my task is done, plus, like before I will travel once more to see the world."
Misdreavus smiled with a nod. "I'd like that..."
Conway pushed his glasses back. "I've seen it all."
Hilda sobbed lightly. "This was so beautiful."
The gang reunited with Daisy Oak explaining the situation.
Later that night, Officer Jenny and other tourists lantern boats. "So, this is to help wandering spirits find their way home." Hilda inquired.
"Yes, I'm sure that the maid will have shown the way too," Jenny answered with a smile.
Conway chuckled lightly. "I'm sure the maid has."
Gastly and Misdreavus were on their boat. "So, this is it, the maid and her true love are finally resting in peace," Misdreavus said looking a bit odd.
"Yeah, but, I get the feeling this is the beginning of another adventure." Gastly said.
Shortly after, Paul and the gang were chilling at a Taiko drum show.
Paul was sitting on a bench taking in what happened while Charmander was munching on an apple. "This world is a strange one." He looked at the dancers. "Quite the noisy crowd."
"Char..." The Lizard Pokemon said seemingly agreeing on the strange one part.
"Sorry, I'm late," Hilda approached in front of the purple-haired trainer wearing a kimono.
Paul was speechless for once which was unlike him.
"Enjoying the view," Conway appeared out of nowhere startling his rival.
"Where'd you come from?" Paul jumped in surprise.
Conway ignored the purple-haired boy's outburst and just smiled. "C'mon, join in the dancing, its better to relax once and while."
"He's right," Hilda agreed taking hold of Paul's hand without realizing it. "So, let's dance!"
Paul looked away hiding his blush. "Whatever..." He reluctantly replied.
Daisy Oak was dancing in a kimono. "This is fun!" Throh was next to her.
Professor Elm was wearing a male kimono and dancing with Corsola. "I have to admit this quite the event, I bet Ash and the others had a blast when they came to this festival." He looked at the ocean. "I wonder if Gastly and Misdreavus will appear during next year's Summer Festival. More importantly, will Pokemon learn to speak human in the future, who knows what the future will hold for people and Pokemon."
That is it, the maid has finally reunited with her true love, Gastly's task has been completed, and has sailed once more with his new friend Misdreavus. What awaits Paul and his friends next time, only time will tell.
P.S If anyone has seen the Johto and Advanced series, you know of Ken and Mary from the PMC, Pokemon Mystery Club. As you know they don't use Pokemon, but, the PMC's that I came up with do. However, Merwin and Dean are based on the alien hunters from Lilo and Stitch the series. The only difference is they hunt spirits and track down mysteries and they use Pokemon too.
Anyway, I hoped you enjoyed the chapter. No bad reviews.
End of chapter.
