Author's Note: First, I want to apologize for my mistakes. I realized I put the date of Mother's Day this year, and not 2007. In 2007 Mother's Day was February 11th. This year it's on the 9th of February. So I deeply apologize, and I hope you won't mind. I also realized that I'm so stupid. I didn't write "6000 words" in the last chapter, no I wrote about 1500. I looked at characters, not words. Gosh I am so stupid! So sorry for a short chapter 1 btw. I also noticed how at "That's horrible, have they figured what it is? Esme said, she looked worried. I forgot to add a quotation mark at the end of the sentence. The correct one is: "That's horrible, have they figured what it is?" Esme said, she looked worried.
I also realized I forgot some punctuation. I am so sorry! I wrote the story late at night. Anyways, here's chapter 2!!
It was pretty early in the morning and Carlisle was heading into town. Since it was Mother's Day he wanted to give Esme something. Esme had already bought one for Bella. He let her do it, as he had no absolute clue what Bella would like anyways. He wasn't really sure about Esme either. She didn't like it when she received gifts, but on special days like these, he didn't really care. The first weeks after he changed Esme, he gave her gifts. It took her long to accept them. He asked her why, and her reason was that she didn't feel like she deserved them. She felt bad because he spent money on her, but he told her it was no problem, but she didn't listen. And to this day, she still doesn't think she deserves them. That's the selfless person she is.
Carlisle arrived right when the shops had opened. He wanted to be early, so he could spend most of the day with the others. Alice and Rosalie had insisted on giving Esme a spa treatment. She let them. He knew she wouldn't be able to say no. Carlisle thought that would be a perfect opportunity to buy his gifts, since it would take hours probably. Once Alice and Rosalie start with those spa-things, they never finish.
He parked his car in a parking lot right next to the jewelry store.
He walked in.
"Hello Dr. Cullen" the old woman working there said, her name was Evelyn Levett. She had worked there for quite a while.
"Good day, Mrs. Levett," Carlisle said.
Carlisle knew Evelyn's husband. He had been struggling with illness.
"What are you looking for today, Dr. Cullen?" Evelyn said.
"I'm looking for a Mother's Day gift for my wife, Esme. You've met her before, right?" he said.
"Yes, I have. She is a very sweet woman, you are very lucky." She said, she smiled.
"She indeed is," he said.
"I was planning on engraving something for her, but I'm not sure what," Carlisle said.
"Hm, what type of jewelry were you thinking?" Evelyn asked.
"I thought maybe a golden necklace would be pretty," Carlisle said.
"We do have a bunch of options for those. May I show you some?" Evelyn said.
"Of course, thank you," Carlisle said, nodding with a smile.
"No problem," she nodded.
Carlisle followed her to a shelf with lots of different jewelry. He looked around and saw a beautiful necklace.
The necklace was shaped like a heart, it was not a big, nor a small heart, it was indeed perfectly sized. He pointed at it.
"I think that one might be good," he said.
"Good choice," she said.
She took it off the shelf and went back to the counter.
"You wanted to engrave it?" she asked.
"Yes, please," he said.
"Well what would you want it to say?" She said.
He thought about it for a moment.
It could be "Love you more than anything." He wanted it to be special though.
"Since 1911, and forever." He thought about it for a second. The old lady would surely not understand anything, since 1911 was almost 100 years ago, and Carlisle surely did not look 100.
He could also just engrave simple live words like "forever", "infinity" he wasn't sure. There were also a couple of sentences from songs.
For example he could engrave "loved you for a thousand years, love you for a thousand more," but he was sure that would be too long. Or maybe "I have died every day waiting for you," but there was also this other song "I know that I'd die without you"
At this point Carlisle had no clue what to choose, there were so many good options.
He decided to buy two necklaces and a bracelet. The golden heart one, and another golden one, shaped like a rectangle, not upwards, but sideways. It was pretty thin, but still a very cute necklace. On the rectangle one, he engraved "loved you for a thousand years, love you for a thousand more" thankfully it fit. The way the old lady engraved it was "loved you for a thousand years" at the top, and under it said "love you for a thousand more"
On the heart necklace he decided to engrave "Since 1911, and forever." The old lady didn't question him, but she gave him a weird look. And on the bracelet he engraved "I know that I'd die without you." It was a gold bracelet that matched the rectangle golden necklace.
The old lady engraved it for him, when done she gave him the pieces in boxes, he paid and gave her a smile
"Thank you, Mrs. Levett," Carlisle said.
"Of course, I hope she likes the jewelry," Evelyn said.
"Me too," Carlisle said, nodding and walking out.
He made his way to the car and drove back home. When he had driven for a few minutes he remembered something.
"Ah, silly me! I forgot to buy wrapping paper" he said, irritated.
Carlisle drove back into town, thankfully he hadn't gone that far before remembering.
He went into a shop that sold lots of different things.
He quickly made his way to the section where they sold wrapping paper, and picked out wrapping paper with a modern lavender purple design that had snowflakes and cute flowers, he decided it fit perfectly for her vibe. He also bought a gift ribbon in lavender purple to knit around it.
He paid, and left quickly. He didn't want to be gone for too long.
Now he was on his way home, and was sure he hadn't forgotten anything.
When he arrived home, he tried to make a quiet entrance, because he didn't want to attract attention. Especially not from Esme, cause he had to wrap her presents, but for all he knew, she was probably still doing those spa-things.
"Hello Carlisle" Edward said the second Carlisle had entered the house.
"Hi Edward," he said, rushing to the kitchen to grab a scissor and some tape.
"What's going on?" Edward said, pretending like he couldn't read minds.
"I'm pretty sure you already know that," Carlisle said.
"No clue what you're talking about," Edward said, grinning.
"Mother's Day, E. That stuff," Carlisle said.
"What? I didn't know me and Emmett were moms?" He said, laughing
"Very funny, Edward," Carlisle said calmly.
"Yes, I'm hilarious, I know." He said.
"Let me guess. Alice and Rosalie are still doing those spa-things with Esme." Carlisle said.
"Spot on," Edward smiled.
"For once those spa-things are helping me too. Now I can wrap gifts in peace." Carlisle said.
"What, you're wrapping gifts? I had no clue!" Edward said.
Carlisle just smiled while shaking his head.
Carlisle grabbed the scissors and tape, while speeding outside again.
"Well, have fun," Edward said.
"Surely will," Carlisle said.
He went to the car and took the gifts.
He rushed to the garden, where he sat down on a bench, placing all the stuff on the table in front of him.
When finished he had wrapped 3 small gifts, shaped like boxes.
He put them in a bag, and headed back to the car. Where he placed them safely, till it was time to give them to Esme.
Author's note: Hello!! I know this is not the longest chapter ever either, but I felt like I had to update at some point. More will eventually come. It was easier to start a new chapter, than continuing. It would mean the world to me if anyone reviews! It gives me more motivation to write. And thank you for following this story, it means a lot. I hope y'all like it so far, tell me if I shall improve anything.
