Q&A

Blaze1992 chapter 22 .

Thanks for the responses to my questions in the reviews, so since you said to leave them in any review here are some of my idea's for spells/enchantments.

1st Branching out the conjure school of magic: While in game I know you can conjure wolves/elementals and basic weapons like sword/axe/bow/dagger, but since seems to not be limited to game designs branch it out to where conjuration can either shape mana into interactable shapes. Things like conjure Shield to have a ready defense that pop up at will for melee fights, conjure Staff and/or things like maces/batons/knuckles/crossbows. Maybe even a small support tree about conjuring things rope for capture or climbing or tools to help repair things?

2nd The skyrim staff's: Any chance of tweaking the design to be more useful to Izuku like instead of a staff what if someone took the concept of a police baton with the staff. It's smaller easier to hide and carry plus more useful in a melee fight, you can block a hit one sec and then spin it around and have fire a sparks spell?

3rd Destruction runes and weapon enchantments on throwable objects: Take some small throughable metal disc's/cards or spheres and have something like the lightning rune or paraylse strike enchantment on it and viola you have a ranged weapon that you can use directly or as a mine.

Answer: Thank you for your lovely suggestions and I'll sure to put them to good use so keep them coming.

It's been around a year since Izuku began his training. During that time Aela couldn't help but to be extremely proud of his progress. Izuku was a natural with a blade, a quickly discovered fact being that Izuku preferred one-handed blades but was rather clumsy with a shield. Seeing this, Kodlak suggested something that Aela would never have suspected.

Flashback

"What?" Aela said as she choked on her drink.

"I said I think you should take the boy to Farengar." Kodlak said as he raised an eyebrow in amusement.

"Why would I take him to see Farengar." Aela said, annoyed. For months now he has been trying to get a hold of Izuku for some tests. And at every turn, Aela sent him packing. She had nothing against Farengar and knew that he wouldn't do anything that could harm Izuku. But she would not subject the boy to testing just to sate the wizard's curiosity.

"Aela, The boy has a brilliant mind. I have no doubt it will one day become his best weapon. To not sharpen it now, will only hinder him in the future." Kodlak said as he took a sip of his drink.

As the two watch Izuku spar with Vilkas, Aela couldn't help but to silently agree. The boy had an extremely sharp mind. Adding Magic to his arsenal wouldn't just increase his capabilities but it would allow him to use that free hand of his. She can also begin teaching him tactics as well. With a plan forming in her mind, she thanked Kodlak and walked off towards Dragonsreach to talk to Farengar.

Flashback End

Aela was glad that she took Kodlak's advice. Especially since izuku took to Magic like a fish to water, within 3 months he already had three spells down pat. Now with his obvious skill with a blade and new spells, Aela thought it was time for her to take him beyond the gates of Whiterun. She planned on doing the same thing that her father did for her. It would be 3 years of survival training. They would travel around Skyrim, sticking to forests and mountain regions in the south for a year before traveling to the frigid north. The only time they would enter any towns or cities is to gather and trade for supplies and study material for Izuku so he could further his studies in Magic. And in the final year, they'll travel around Skyrim doing missions for the companions to earn him some experience.

but What she was not expecting was Izuku's reaction to her plan. The moment she revealed it she saw a large amount of fear in his eyes. But as she stepped forward to comfort him, his instincts took over and he bolted to his room, slamming the door behind him. To say Aela was confused was an understatement, for an hour she tried to convince, coax, and talk Izuku out of his room, but she was unsuccessful in doing so.

If it wasn't for Kodlak she would have never gotten Izuku to talk to her so quickly. Apparently, he thought that she was going to abandon him because he wasn't good enough. Simply hearing that admission broke her heart. After a long conversation with him and many reassurances that she would never do such a thing, he eventually agreed to the 3-year trip with her. In his opinion, those three years were the best 3 years of Izuku's life.

To be honest, Izuku never thought his life would have turned out like this. When he woke up in the Hall of Healing in the city of Whiterun and he found out that he could not go home, something in his mind just started to shut down. It was like the world had just become static as the memories of Bakugou and his goons beating on him, the constant belligerence from the teachers and society as a whole started to play on a loop like a broken record in his mind. He knew that he should have fallen into this depression far sooner in life. But he knew the only reason that he didn't was because of his mother. So, with his only anchor to sanity forever out of reach, he broke.

He didn't know how long he was in that state. Eventually, he started picking up the voice of a woman, her comforting tone cut through the static of his mind. Her strong but kind voice helped pull him from the overwhelming static and the painful memories, back into reality. That same woman who took care of him, and treated him like he was her own son. Which, he found out due to their traditions, that he was in all but blood. The woman made him her blood kin which meant that either she would be his sister or mother. She was nothing like his mother Inko who was kind, sweet, extremely sensitive, and prone to worry. But within that year this woman, Aela, became a second mother to him. She was a strong, confident woman who quickly grew to care about him.

Izuku didn't know if her feelings were genuine at first due to how he was treated back at home. He knew for a fact that the only person that he could trust was himself. He knew that his mother Inko loved him dearly, but due to her constant worry, he could not confide in her. Because of this, he had a deep-seated fear that Aela and the rest of the companions would abandon him once he became too much of a burden. So when he was asked if he wanted to be trained by them he accepted wholeheartedly. He wanted to prove to them that he wasn't a burden.

But that fear never left, and because of that fear, when she brought up the 3-year trip, a memory from the day that his father found out he was quirkless, hit him like a train. His father took him out under the guise of a camping trip and left him in the middle of the woods with no food or supplies. If it wasn't for his mother calling the police after she found out what he did, Izuku probably would have died out in the wilderness. This is why he went into a panic attack and locked himself in his room. It was only thanks to Kodlak, whom he saw as a grandfather, that they managed to coax him out. After he told Aela why he was so afraid, he was quickly swept into a bone crushing hug and vehemently assured that she would never do that to him. It finally banished some of the deep-seated fear he held.

Although saying goodbye to Lydia was extremely hard. She was not just the first friend he made in this world. But she was also the first friend that he made since he was four. She was one of the people who helped him acclimate to Skyrim, something he would be forever grateful for. Although it could do without the large amount of alcohol that Lydia and Aela made him drink in an attempt to get his alcohol tolerance up to Nord standards. He didn't understand why that was so important, because the only thing that Aela would say about it was.

"I am not raising a weak livered milk drinker, so you're going to drink until you drop." Oh how lucky he was that potions exist to cure liver failure and alcohol poisoning. Because he knew without it he would have been fucked sideways.

Before he left, Lydia gave him a gift, a lute along with a book on how to play it. Apparently, every Nord was taught to play an instrument, since it helped to cope with the struggles that come after a long battle. She also hoped that this would help with his anxiety and the inevitable boredom that comes from travel. Plus in a pinch, It can make an excellent improvised bludgeoning weapon. Upon hearing that last bit from Lydia, Izuku laughed heartily.

After he got a hold of himself and said his goodbyes, he left with Aela for his 3-year training trip. And oh boy was it hellish. But, he had to admit, it was absolutely invaluable. Aela didn't just teach him how to fight but how to hunt, track, how certain herbs worked, and the basics of stealth. He couldn't sneak up on a person for the life of him, but he could definitely sneak up on an animal. He also learned a couple of handy spells that he got from his supply runs, and with the constant spars expected of him, Aela improved his combat skills.

After the first year of their training trip, held primarily in the south, Aela decided it was time to take him far north. And boy was it tough. Supply runs were kept down to the minimum and the frigid cold threatened to literally freeze his toes off. Due to the activity of some dangerous animals, they could not stay in one place for long. It was during this time that Aela decided to get Izuku's hands dirty. Aela was present for Izuku's first kill but she knew that was mostly his instincts, he didn't consciously make that choice. So, she decided to take him on a bandit extermination mission. Izuku was obviously hesitant and his strong morality due to his life in his home dimension made it difficult for him to take a person's life. But she explained to him that these people are all guilty of rape, murder, and a long list of other crimes. And unlike his world, they do not have prisons big enough to hold every criminal and low life. Izuku knew that heroes were no stranger to killing thanks to his prior research on Endeavor. He even knew All Might had killed a couple of villains himself.

He had hoped that he would never have to do so. But he knew that was naive thinking, so with a heavy heart and grim determination, he and Aela cleared out the bandits. Aela was impressed with izuku, the boy held himself together and pushed forward. Even though his face was becoming paler and paler with every life he took. It was only after they confirmed that the bandits were cleared out that the boy emptied the contents of his stomach onto the soil. She remembered her first kill and the toll it took on her, so after comforting him, Aela left to scavenge what she could from the bodies before burning them. While she did so, she could hear the sounds of Izuku's lute playing throughout the bandit camp. Aela noted that he was getting quite good, so when she returned from getting rid of the remains of the bandits she joined him with her own flute. Once he was calm, collected, and feeling better, they headed to the nearest town to sell what they retrieved from the bandits, as well as to turn in the quest for its rewards.

A couple of months later, they finished up their survival training in the North, so Izuku and Aela took up jobs that the companions needed done. It was a couple of months into this process when Aela decided that it was time for him to do his first solo job. It was nothing too special, just delivering a valuable package to Helgen. Izuku knew Helgen pretty well thanks to him and Aela visiting it multiple times for supplies during the first year of survival training. But when he approached Helgen Gates he could see smoke rising from it and when he finally reached the gates of Helgen, a large black dragon flew over his head, nearly causing a minor panic attack. Aela told him the stories of dragons, but to see one for himself? Only one thought ran through his analytical mind.

'That's not a dragon, it's a wyvern.'

Notes:

Before I get rage in the comments, yes I know Alduin is technically a dragon and wyverns are a subspecies of dragons. This was more of a joke/reference to the stupid debate on Skyrim's launch date. And even though izuku is smart enough to tell the difference. You must keep in mind that Alduin is fast when flying and since he did not go through the whole classic intro. he was only able to get a glimpse of Alduin before he was already out of sight.
