Chapter 16
Kagome felt at ease the second her feet touched the ground, a bright smile wormed onto her face as she felt wave of energy after wave of energy slam into her. If the energy had a solid human form she would compare it to being held in a motherly embrace and showered with love and kisses.
All her woes and troubles were drained from her as she ignored Thor who was fretting over his precious Jane. She kneeled in the dirt, ignoring the way it stained her white dress and placed her hands lovingly on the soil. She felt it pulse.
She pushed her powers into her hands and into the welcoming Earth.
Sending out a message.
'I'm home.'
Jane watched it all, feeling jealousy well up in her, while Kagome was in her own world she was breathtaking. Her skin glowed, her hair shifted in an invisible wind, she was gorgeous.
How was it Thor chose her over his wife? What did she have that the other woman did not? Such nagging questions welled up in her and cast doubt on her self worth and her relationship with the God.
Thor himself was breathless, while his heart belonged to Jane it still skipped a beat or two as he took in the once in a lifetime scene his wife was painting. She looked like one of those heavenly beings that poets wrote ballads about.
He was pulled from his thoughts by a war cry. With a grunt he pulled his hammer free of its binding and pulled Jane to his side.
"It's an ambush!" Instantly he pushed Jane behind him, turning to face the dark figures that swarmed out of nowhere. Hammer in hand he counted twenty, he gave a dark scowl, this new enemy was one that had no honor.
Kagome was on her feet in an instant, Loki was nearby, a staff in hand, her eyes narrowed at the creatures, shivering as she felt the darkness they gave off, it was cold and empty. She should have noticed them coming yet had been too absorbed in celebrating her home coming.
With a scowl she drew her bow and aimed, hoping that her powers had some kind of effect on them, if not then at least an arrow to the heart would have the same effect.
Loki was already slicing through anyone or thing that came near him, they fell easily. Weaklings his mind whispered to him. Yet at the same time he was tentative, the darkness they projected reached out to his own and whispered to it. He tried his best to shove the rising feelings down, he would be a pawn of darkness never again.
He shifted his gaze to his dearest brother and resisted the urge to snort. He had not moved from his spot, standing protectively in front of his human, hammer drawn yet not yet used, not at all concerned about his wife, whom he had just been gazing at like a star struck fool.
He froze as he heard the twang of a bow string and shivered as the pure energy that surrounded the flying arrow brushed past him. It was pure and made his own inner darkness recoil and quiet down. With semi impressed eyes he watched as it tore through the ermines like they were parchment.
He was impressed they all heard tales of her powers, her battles, and her victories yet no one had ever seen her in action, it was breathtaking.
Almost a piece of living art. Her blue eyes glowed with power and did not waver as she faced their seemingly never ending army.
Her body was poised, a perfect archer's position. Her arms moved fluidly reaching for arrow after arrow.
She was a true warrior and it amused him that his brother would choose a mewling quim over her.
Kagome was born to be a queen.
