"C'mon!" Chi-Chi begged as she dragged Goku away from his tenth plate at breakfast. Normally she'd be content to let him eat but she was way too excited to wait any longer.

Today was the day they'd pick out their future home!

She tugged harder but Goku managed to snatch two more muffins on their way out the door and promptly tossed both in his mouth before Chi-Chi could snatch those away from him too. Still, he couldn't be too grumpy with her, he liked seeing her all excited like this.

Which is why he didn't struggle as she dragged him down a staircase, pass what he now recognized as the castle's entrance room, before finally stopping in front of a solid looking door and giving it a hearty knock. The voices he could heard chattering behind it cut off immediately and then the familiar voice of the Ox King called for them to enter.

Chi-Chi didn't need to be told twice.

She opened it wide, allowing her and Goku to step in together as her father greeted them good morning.

"How'd you kids sleep?"

"I slept great thanks to Chi-Chi!" Goku grinned, much to Chi-Chi's annoyance.

He had clearly already forgotten what they had talked about last night. She pinched his side, making him jump, and hastily added, "I gave him some extra pillows to sleep on."

"Yeah," Goku snickered. "They were really soft and plushi—oof!"

Chi-Chi yanked a chair back so that she could sit, right into Goku's stomach, causing him to fold over as she feined concern.

"Sorry sweetheart! I guess I just don't know my own strength!" She gave him a gentle pat on his arm before turning her attention back to her father. "Anyways, shall we get started?"

Her father's brows narrowed at what he saw. Chi-Chi was acting strange…but then again he'd witnessed her new strength himself. Hell, more than witness, he'd felt it! She'd nearly broke a rib hugging him yesterday. It could all just be a coincidence but…

"Right…well in any case this here's Bosu," Gyumao told them, patting the shoulder of the man who'd been quietly observing from his seat. "He's my lead contractor. Does all sorts of great work in the castle and around the village. If ya want a house built than he's your guy."

Bosu nodded politely. "It's a pleasure to meet you both."

"Likewise," Chi-Chi smiled as Goku took the remaining free seat beside her.

Now that pleasantries were out of the way, Bosu jumped right in. "Right, well first things first, your father tells me you're more interested in an open style plan?"

"Ideally, yes."

"Great, well then I've got some layouts here for you to look at…"

He handed her a large book and flipped it to the page he had marked beforehand before instructing the young couple to look through it and see if they liked anything. If they happened to like one then great, but if not there was no pressure and they could easily round up some more blue prints or adjust things as needed until both were satisfied.

Chi-Chi studied each one carefully but Goku didn't see much difference from one house to the next. They were all bigger than the one he'd lived in with his Grandpa. Heck, they were even bigger than Master Roshi's! Though none even came close to Bulma's, which was a relief at least. He didn't really care. As long as he was with Chi-Chi and she was happy, he could live anywhere.

A fact that soon became apparent to everyone in the room, as the Ox King and Bosu slowly started directing more and more questions to Chi-Chi instead of the both of them. Chi-Chi still did her best to try and include Goku, but the more and more layouts she looked at, the more she grew frustrated as well. They were all more or less the same, with some rooms being a little bigger or smaller to fit the design, but none of them really fit what she was looking for.

"What's the matter Chi-Chi?" Her father asked her, noticing her frown. "Don't you like any of these?"

Chi-Chi sighed as she flipped to the next design.

"They're all lovely but none of them really offer what we need in ways of storage. You know how much Goku can eat Papa. If I don't wanna have to go to the store three times a day, we're gonna need more space!"

Goku slouched in his seat, feeling guilty. His stomach was once again causing Chi-Chi trouble. He didn't know why he ate so much but he also didn't think he could survive eating less. Just the very thought horrified him.

"Sorry."

"It's not your fault, love," Chi-Chi told him, giving his hand a squeeze. "Besides, even if we didn't have to worry about your appetite, once we have kids this was always going to be an issue."

Especially if they had their father's stomach. She didn't even want to imagine how much she'd be cooking in that scenario…but if it meant feeding her beloved family a good meal, then she'd still happily do it.

"You know," Bosu murmured, speaking up for the first time since he'd handed her the book, "these aren't all or nothings. If you want more storage we can choose a layout that we can reconfigure to give you what you need. It's no trouble."

"Really?" Chi-Chi gasped, suddenly much, much more hopeful.

She pulled the book back towards her and started leafing through the pages until she found the two in particular that she had liked, and then after a bit of back and forth comparing the details, settled on one and pushed it towards him with a smile. It was a five bedroom layout—not including the master suite—with an open kitchen/living room space. If they left the upstairs rooms as is, the two downstairs bedrooms could be transformed into a humongous pantry and a walk-in-freezer, granting her wish of more storage but also still leaving plenty of space for expanding their family.

Chi-Chi explained her vision to her father's contractor who listened quietly and then nodded after a moment.

"Yeah we can do that easily enough. Just give me the rest of the day to make the necessary adjustments to the blue prints and we should be ready to start working on the foundation tomorrow. Do you have a space picked out?"

"Not yet," she admitted. "Though we know we want to live on Mt. Paozu."

Bosu whistled. "Mt. Paozu? When your pa said you'd be living out in the woods he wasn't kidding. In that case we should probably consider a few other things like energy sources and plumbing."

He promised to work those in but asked, that when they went out later to choose a location, that they pick a spot on a flat plane next to a river with a strong current if possible.

"You'll need some source of water and while a lake would work also, a river can double as an additional power source—though you wouldn't go a miss with adding some heavy duty rain barrels either."

"Grandpa had some of those," Goku nodded, "But we'd need a whole bunch of them to get a decent bath."

Bosu nodded, "The kind I'd recommend would be much much larger, and they're a good back up during dry years."

"Mt. Paozu never has those," Goku laughed. One of the things he loved most about Mt. Paozu was how lush and full of life it was. "But I get what you're saying."

Chi-Chi smiled, pleased that Goku was able to contribute something to the design of their new home…other than their need for a walk in pantry and freezer!

"Please include those in your designs then," she added.

With that settled, Bosu left to get started on adjusting the blue prints to the necessary specifications while Goku, Chi-Chi and her father prepared to leave to go check out locations. However before they could take more than a few steps down the hall, a servant appeared informing the Ox King he had an urgent phone call.

"Again?!" he growled, when he heard who it was. His friend was becoming impossible lately.

Gyumao looked to where his daughter and her suitor stood patiently waiting for him, and sighed. Well…at least they couldn't get into too much trouble in the middle of nowhere, but that didn't mean he had to be entirely irresponsible.

"Sorry Chi-Chi, looks like you'll have to go without me. Have a servant fly you and I'll meet you here after so we can get started with the wedding planner."

"Don't be silly Papa," his daughter laughed. "Goku and I can just take Nimbus."

"O-Oh…okay…"

Well…at least if they were taking Nimbus their thoughts had to remain pure and…

Chi-Chi kissed her father's cheek and then waved. "See you when we get back!"

Gyumao waved back and then as soon as the couple vanished from sight, he stormed into his office, snatched up the phone and with all the frustration he currently felt, bellowed, "This had better be good!"

o0o

"Down there!" Goku shouted, pointing to a small little clearing amidst the woods.

Nimbus dived, taking them in low, but Goku was too excited to wait for his friend to stop. So instead he scooped Chi-Chi up and leapt while they were still high in the sky, laughing as they fell to the earth, with Chi-Chi's delighted shrieks ringing in his ears.

Maybe before their travels together she would have screamed in fear, but now she was confident Goku would keep her safe, and his happiness was infectious.

They landed with a soft thud and Goku lowered her gently to the ground before taking a look around. It had been a long time since he'd last been here. He breathed in deep, relishing that sweet Mt. Paozu air. Man was it good to be home!

His gaze darted to the single room building he'd grown up in, taking the state of it in, and frowned. Huh. It was looking a little rough. There were a few tiles missing from the roof and the paint was faded and peeling everywhere. He peeked in through the door and noted the inside didn't look much better than the outside. The window was busted and he could tell from the bones and droppings on the floor that several animals had gotten in at some point and taken shelter here.

Grandpa would be so disappointed.

"So this is where you grew up huh?" Chi-Chi murmured, stepping into the room beside him. "I can just imagine you running around here, climbing over everything you could."

Goku chuckled at the accurate picture she'd describe. "Yeah, that was me alright...it's crazy but this place seemed so much…bigger…then."

"I know what you mean," she nodded. "I visited the place once where Papa and I used to live when Mt. Frypan was on fire. It was so much smaller than I remembered! But I'll still cherish those days forever because it was the start of my father's transformation into the man he is today. When it was just me and him, he was a little less wild…and then you came along and whipped him into shape!"

"It wasn't me!" Goku laughed. "I was just a pipsqueak then."

And certainly no match for her father, at least not then.

"Doesn't matter. That little boy will forever be my hero," Chi-Chi whispered, leaning against him.

"And now?"

"Oh he never stopped being my hero, but now that little boy has grown up into a ridiculously handsome man," she giggled, sliding her arms up around his neck to give him a sweet kiss.

Goku returned it in kind but it wasn't long before he slowly began to deepen it, slipping his tongue along hers as he pinned her to his chest and tilted her back, essentially sweeping her off her feet. He'd give anything to take her right now, in this place that was as precious to him as she was, but not in its current state. He wanted to clean it up first and show it to her in its prime before loving her the way she deserved.

Chi-Chi seemed to be of the same mind for she broke the kiss after a minute and instead held him close. "Thank you for showing me this place."

"I'll fix it up and bring you back again some time soon," he promised.

"I'd like that."

The two stayed like that for a little while longer before finally agreeing that they should get a move on. They called for Nimbus and took to the skies, making several slow passes around Mt. Paozu hoping to find a place that fit the criteria that Bosu had given them. However after two laps around the mountain range, it quickly became apparent that meeting his requirements—as well as their own—might be next to impossible.

The mountains were too steep, the parcels of leveled land too small, and the few that were large enough to meet their needs were no where near a river…or even worse, no where near Gohan's cottage. Though he had never said it, Chi-Chi knew that Goku would want to be near his grandpa's home.

So then what could they do?

"I guess this ain't gonna work out after all, huh, Chi?"

"Why not?"

"Well…aren't all these places no good?"

"Well…yes, but…"

But surely there was something they could do? Some sort of alteration they could make like they had done when choosing the design of the future home…if they could just make more room somewhere…maybe even…

Chi-Chi nibbled her bottom lip as a wild, crazy idea began to take hold.

"Goku!" she exclaimed, patting his arm excitedly as she bounced up and down. "Do you remember when we first met?"

"Course I do! You were wearin' that weird outfit an—"

"Not about that!" Chi-Chi blushed. Leave it to Goku to remember her fashion disasters! "Later, after we brought Master Roshi back to Mt. Frypan to put out the fire. Don't ya remember how he did it?"

"Sure! It was the first time I saw the kamehameha wave in action!" he grinned as Chi-Chi rolled her eyes with a smile.

"Aaaand," she added after he didn't say anything further, "In the process he took out half the mountain!"

Goku blinked and looked around at their surroundings. "Ya want me to take out the mountain?"

"Not exactly. I was thinkin' that maybe you could just…level one…just a little."

She held up her finger and thumb to emphasize just how little, but by the way Goku was scratching his head and looking around, he was clearly doubtful. Chi-Chi felt all the hope she'd felt bubbling up inside her crash in an instance, followed by a sudden wave of sadness that threatened to overwhelm her.

What had she been thinking? Of course it wouldn't work. It wasn't like smooshing down a sand castle! She'd just been so sure this was it, that it would work…but if it didn't? Then what would they do? It was too risky—his grandpa's home was right there!—and Goku would be so sad if something happened. All she wanted was to make him happy. He asked for so little in regards to their home, she'd just wanted to give him this and…

Chi-Chi sniffled, fighting back tears, causing Goku to sit up in alarm.

"I guess it was a dumb idea."

"N-No it'll work! It'll work!" He promised, panicking. He looked from side to side, more than a little desperate. "Which one should I flatten?"

"No, you're right, it won't work. It was a bad idea."

"It's not! Believe me!"

Goku snatched up her hands and locked eyes with her, gazing at Chi-Chi with such intensity that she couldn't help but blush.

"Don't ya trust me?"

"I-I do."

"Then trust me to do this," he murmured, staring at her so confidently that little by little Chi-Chi felt her hope returning once more.

"...you really think it'll work?"

"Sure I do!"

And if not, he could just make a wish on the dragon balls in a year.

"Just point to the one ya want!"

Chi-Chi hesitated a little longer but she knew Goku would never let anything happen to his grandpa's home, so if he really felt that confident in this…

"Well…" she guided Nimbus to a position where she could see Gohan's cottage and then scanned the surrounding mountains. "What about…those two?"

She pointed to a pair of small peaks, set beneath a much taller cliff that also just so happened to be the source of a strong waterfall. If levelled, it would allow them to set up next reasonably close to Goku's childhood home—as well as create several acres of good farmland—and the waterfall would be a good source of water and possibly electricity if the solar panels didn't generate what they needed.

Goku studied the two peaks in question and nodded, "Got it!"

He hopped down off of Nimbus and powered up, using only a small portion of his true strength.

"Kameeee…hameeeee…HA!"

Out shot the miniature kamehameha, no less lethal despite its small size, and with unusual precision, Goku mowed down the agreed upon mountainside until every inch of debris had evaporated into nothing, leaving only a flat dirt plain and a cloud of dust for miles.

Chi-Chi coughed, covering her face with her arms, as tears burned her eyes. She had forgotten about all the potential dust!

"Did it work?" she shouted blindly.

"Just a sec!"

One minute she was inhaling the remains of the small peaks, the next Goku was zipping around so fast he'd managed to create a large tornado that sucked up all the dust and dirt, clearing the air. It only took a matter of minutes and as soon as he was done he dumped what he'd gathered over the cliff side and let the tornado fall a part.

Chi-Chi breathed in the clean air gratefully and then wiped her face with the inside of her dress, wishing she had some sort of handkerchief. She made a mental note to begin carrying one around but was soon distracted once she could finally see. There, where once there had been two of many mountainous peaks, was now an impeccable flat turf just perfect for their future home.

She couldn't help but beam.

"Oh I knew ya could do it Goku! It's perfect!" she shouted down at him. "Now if ya just carve a path connecting that waterfall to the smaller one below, we'll be all set! But make sure not to do it too close to the cliff's edge! It'll need plenty of room to flow!"

Goku blinked, the white of his eyes the only thing that stood out through the layer of dirt, and then blasted his ki outward, blowing most of it away in one go. Even with most of it off him though, there was still a thin layer that refused to budge, making his skin itch. Man! He could sure use a bath right now, but there was still work to do, so instead he floated up a bit to gage the path he should make from one fall to the next and when he'd settled on what to do, powered up again.

"Kame…hame…ha!"

If he barely used any of his power before, this time what he used was a drop in comparison. He couldn't afford to do more unless he wanted to obliterate the rest of the mountain, but he didn't mind. In a way, it was teaching him a lesson in control. So as the sweat traced a path down his dirty forehead, he carefully carved a new river path from the large fall over head, down to the small one that flowed out from a hidden cave in the cliffside that he used to dive off of as a kid sometimes.

As soon as the two connected he cut off his power and watched as the water began to flow, naturally curving through the newly formed bends to reach the smaller waterfall. It didn't quite fill what he'd carved out, but Goku knew it was better that way. Too narrow and it was likely to flood come spring time after winter melted.

With a satisfied nod he jumped into the newly formed river, only to hear a small splash follow shortly after. He grinned over at Chi-Chi from under the water, allowing air bubbles to escape in the process, and pulled her in for a kiss that soon produced even larger bubbles—as well as excitement coursing through him.

He pinned her to him with his tail, allowing his hands free range, and Chi-Chi returned the favor by sinking her hands into his hair…or least he thought she was returning the favor until she yanked his head back once her oxygen supply began to run low.

Goku propelled them above the surface, giggling as Chi-Chi gasped for air.

"Aw Chi-Chi, did I take your breath away?"

"You wish," she spluttered, shoving his dripping face away from hers when he swooped in for another kiss. "No! I'm still recovering from your last kiss!"

"Sorry Cheech. I can't help it! I just like kissin' ya."

Chi-Chi sighed and gave him a quick peck on the lips for that response.

"I like kissing you too," But she also liked breathing! "Now c'mon. I wanna check the land over and make sure we didn't do any type of structural damage in the process that might come back to bite us in the butt."

'There's an idea,' Goku thought, though aloud he simply said, "A bit late for that, don't ya think? We did blow up half the mountain."

"Leveled," she corrected. "We leveled half the mountain."

"If it quacks like a duck," Goku argued, quacking a few times to emphasize his point.

Chi-Chi just shoved his head back under water with a growl. If he wanted to be a duck so much he could just stay there!

o0o

"Chi-Chi! What on earth happened to you," Gyumao demanded, taking in her disheveled appearance. She looked like she'd been attacked by a wild beast! His brows instantly furrowed as his gaze cut over to the man laughing awkwardly beside her. "Did he do this to you?"

Chi-Chi gave herself a once over and blushed. "I guess we are a bit of a mess aren't we? But you shoulda seen us before we took an impromptu swim. We were caked in dirt!"

"Oh?" Gyumao's anger receded but that just left him feeling conflicted now that he no longer had a reason to be angry. He was also confused. "How'd ya get so dirty then?"

Chi-Chi explained the issues they'd faced and how they'd gone about solving it to her incredulous father.

"You blew up Mt. Poazu?!"

"Leveled," Chi-Chi corrected. Why was that such a hard concept to grasp?

"Still!"

Gyumao had seen a lot of things in his years. There were Masters out there capable of truly great things, after all his own Master had done something similar when he got rid of the fire surrounding Mt. Frypan…but that was after years and years of training.

He could accept that Gohan's grandson was special—a prodigy even—but his Chi-Chi? His little girl? She had been strong as a child but not like this.

Everything was happening so fast.

"Papa? Are you alright?"

"M'fine sweetheart. Just feelin' my age I guess." He shook off the sense of foreboding that threatened to take over and focused on the young couple staring up at him innocently instead. "Why don't you two go clean up and then meet me back down here in twenty? The seamstress is waitin'."

"Seamstress?"

"Well sure! Can't have a wedding without wedding clothes now can ya?"

"Oh!" Chi-Chi gasped, her eyes going wide and sparkly. Somehow she'd entirely forgotten about what they'd be wearing! "We better hurry!"

"What fo—"

Goku didn't get a chance to finish his question as Chi-Chi was already dragging them up a staircase and down the hall before shoving him in his room.

"Scrub good but be quick!" She ordered before slamming the door shut on her way out.

Goku scrambled to open it and called after her, "Why can't we bathe together?!" but Chi-Chi was already disappearing behind her own door and couldn't hear him.

"Rats!"

He snapped his fingers, disappointed, and returned to his own room to freshen up.

Some day he'd get that bath.

When they were both finally clean, the two returned downstairs and found Chi-Chi's father and the seamstress in one of the less frequently used receiving rooms. It had clearly been temporarily turned into a makeshift work room, as several yards of fabrics had been strewn across the couches and a small desk had been added to the far wall. However there was one new addition in particular that caught Chi-Chi's eye immediately.

"Mama's wedding dress!" she gasped, pressing her hands to her cheeks at the sight of the gown displayed on the mannequin.

Her father stepped up beside her and gave her shoulder a squeeze, "I know ya always admired it when you were younger. I thought ya might like to wear it for your big day."

"Oh Papa thank you! Thank you!"

She threw herself into her father's arms, squeezing the air out of him, and then rushed over to fawn over her mother's dress.

Goku watched it all with a smile, knowing how important something belonging to her mother must be to her, until an older woman stepped up to him and snapped, "You the groom?"

"Yup! This is the lucky lad my little Chi-Chi's gonna marry," The Ox King answered.

"Good, then take off your clothes."

Goku blinked in confusion. "Huh?"

"Chop chop now. I don't have all day you know."

"All day for what?!"

"I said strip!" The woman ordered. "Down to your boxers and be quick!"

Goku stared, not understanding. Normally people were always telling him to put clothes on not telling him to take them off…well not until he and Chi-Chi started having fun time but he didn't think that's what this was. He looked to Chi-Chi for guidance but she was still cooing over her mother's dress so he turned to the Ox King instead who gave him an encouraging nod.

"Go on son, she needs to measure you for your tux."

Tux. That was the word Chi-Chi had used when talking about the fancy suit he'd have to wear. So this was for that. Damn.

With a reluctance he didn't usually feel when taking off his clothes, Goku stripped down to his boxers and then the woman was on him, yanking his limbs out straight and dragging some tape like thing against his skin. It made him a little ticklish but otherwise he managed, bearing the strange lady's touch as she moved quick and efficiently over his body.

That is until she dropped to her knees in front of him and placed her hand high up along his inner thigh.

"Hey! Only Chi-Chi's allowed to touch that!" He snapped, drawing Chi-Chi's attention and the Ox King's ire.

"And just what is that supposed to mean?!"

"Papa," Chi-Chi quickly interrupted, hurrying over. "Goku didn't mean anything bad, he's just trying to be a good future husband. Aren't you Goku?"

Goku nodded, all while keeping a wary eye on the seamstress as Chi-Chi continued.

"We are engaged after all or do you think men should be free to do whatever they want before the wedding?"

"Not at all! I just…uh…er, sorry," The Ox King grumbled, shoulders drooping. "I guess I just assumed—"

"I know what ya assumed Papa, but that's okay. I know you're just bein' protective of me."

Chi-Chi hated lying to her father—he had every right to assume!—but she knew it was better than letting him destroy half the castle in his rage to strangle Goku, and they would be married soon enough.

"This is all very touching," The seamstress said after a moment. "May I continue working now?"

"Just a sec," Chi-Chi ordered, noticing Goku had gone rigid again. She pressed a comforting hand on his arm. "Sweetheart, why don't you hold one end of the measuring tape where she tells you to and then she can measure you accordingly, alright?"

She'd do it herself but her father was still on edge and she didn't want to set him off.

"She ain't gonna touch…"

"Not there," Chi-Chi promised.

Goku nodded, relaxing just a little, and grabbed the end he was offered. He held the tip in place as instructed and the seamstress dragged the other end down the length of his leg before jotting down a number in her notepad. They continued on this way for a few minutes longer, until she had finally gotten everything that she needed, but it was only when the seamstress finally looked at her client as a whole that she noticed the furry appendage jerking anxiously around him.

"What in blue blazes is that!" she demanded, pointing an accusing finger at Goku.

Everyone in the room just stared, not understanding her issue, until Goku finally managed to ask, "Ya mean my tail?"

"Yes! What else would I mean? How are my clothes supposed to look dignified on a man with a tail?!" she screeched.

"Dignawha?"

The seamstress shot him a glare before directing demanding eyes to the Ox King and Chi-Chi, who hummed as she considered the problem.

"Makin' a hole in his pants isn't an issue but I guess it might look awkward when wearin' the jacket. Goku do ya think you could wrap it around your stomach for a bit during the ceremony?"

"You mean like this?"

He maneuvered his tail around to do as she described, hooking it on itself to keep it in place. It was a little awkward…but actually now that he was looking at it, maybe it would be useful in a fight. He'd strengthened his tail but it was still a weakness. This way no one could grab it.

Goku smiled at Chi-Chi and nodded. "Yeah, it ain't so bad."

"Good," she said smiling back at him before turning her attention to the seamstress. "Just make a hole in the back of his pants and he'll manage the rest."

The seamstress huffed in response.

"Fine."

With that all settled she took her leave and Goku hastily pulled his clothes back on, before he realized Chi-Chi hadn't done anything yet.

"Don't you need to get measured too?"

Chi-Chi shrugged. "They already have mine. Though they'll probably need to do a few adjustment checks eventually. I think I gained a few centimeters worth of muscle after all our training."

"Yeah ya did," Goku grinned, eyeing her up and down admiringly, making her blush. He thought everyone looked better with muscle, but something about the way they looked on Chi-Chi just had him itching to get his hands on her.

Thankfully for Chi-Chi, Goku had learned better than to act on that with others around—unless he wanted to get a beating in the process—so instead he stamped down on his desire enough to looked around at their surroundings and ask his most pressing question.

"Where we goin' anyhow? Ain't it time to eat yet?"

"We're headed to my office," the Ox King answered as he opened a familiar door. "I know it's late but I thought ya should get a quick meetin' in with the wedding planner before supper, so she could get started on the designs."

"Of course," Chi-Chi nodded.

She stepped inside and greeted another new face and as Goku listened and watched them interact, he started wondering just what exactly he had gotten himself into. He knew he wanted to marry Chi-Chi, that would never change, but he had thought that it would be…smaller somehow, something just between the two of them. Now though, they were getting all these strangers involved and it was starting to seem like maybe it wasn't going to be as intimate as he'd first believed.

Chi-Chi seemed to be feeling similar though because her voice hitched catching his attention.

"Theme? What do we need a theme for? Ain't this just gonna be a small affair?" she asked panicking.

"Now Chi-Chi, you're the princess of Mt. Frypan!" Her father coaxed. "People'll be expecting the shindig of the century!"

"But I won't be a princess after we marry!"

"All the more reason to send you off in style!" he argued.

Chi-Chi huffed, blowing enough air to rustle her bangs. Why was he being so stubborn?!

"Papa you know I don't like these sorta things. It's embarrassin'!"

"I know sweetheart…but I only get to do this once," Gyumao told her getting teary eyed. "Won't you let me give ya the celebration you both deserve?"

At her father's tears Chi-Chi couldn't help but falter. Ever since his reform he asked for so little from her. If this was the last thing she could give him…then maybe it wouldn't be all bad.

She sighed, unable to shake the uneasiness she felt in the pit of her stomach, but eventually nodded and said, "I guess we better pick a theme then."

"Alright!" her father grinned, clapping his hands together. "I promise ya won't regret it!"

Chi-Chi wasn't too sure about that but she had already agreed so there was no backing out now. Instead she turned to Goku, who was looking just as lost as she was. "Do you have an ideas for a theme you might like?"

"What's a theme?"

Gyumao laughed and clapped his shoulder. "Better decide on that one yourself Chi-Chi. Not unless ya want a wedding that's nothin' but martial arts and food."

"A theme," Chi-Chi answered, ignoring her father. "A theme is a…a core idea. So for like parties—or in this case a wedding—you could have a sports theme. So we could use baseball bats as parts of the decorations and have food you might find at a match. Another theme could be books. If you had a favorite story, we could decorate the room with references to that. Does that make sense?"

Goku nodded. "Yeah, I think so."

"Then do you have a theme you'd like to suggest?" asked the wedding planner but Goku didn't think they'd like it if he suggested the simplest, least fussy theme they could manage as long as it'd let him claim Chi-Chi as his wife as soon as possible. So instead he just shook his head no.

"That's alright sweetheart," Chi-Chi murmured patting his hand. "I don't have one either."

They traded soft smiles and then for the next hour Goku was bored out of his mind, as the wedding planner droned on and on about something or other that he could tell from Chi-Chi's ki was putting her to sleep as well. He leaned back in his chair, played with a loose thread, tore little scraps off the lone piece of paper they had slipped his way, and then was back to balancing in his seat again before they finally called it a night.

Goku yawned loudly and rubbed his empty belly, earning a tired chuckle from Chi-Chi.

"Hungry?"

"I'm always hungry," he whined, but right now he had bigger problems. "Chi-Chi do we really need to do all this just to get married? It's so boring!"

Gyumao grinned, giving him a hard shake. "Not to worry, son! After today you won't have to deal with it again."

"I won't?"

"He won't?"

Goku and Chi-Chi traded confused looks before turning to stare at him questioningly, but that just made Gyumao grin wider. He had finally figured out a way to keep them from preempting their vows.

"Nope! You've got a house to build!"
