Chapter Fourteen
When the ship he was traveling in entered the solar system, Chip was staring out the window. Everyone was now in mourning on board and he as well. He'd known Keith from his and Pidge's academy days and watched in his mind's eye as memories with Keith flooded through. Whenever he'd visited Arus, Keith welcomed him like a family member. Pidge and himself knew that Keith and Jeff were best friends and part of a group that was close knit that included, Lisa Ginger, Lance Sven Cliff and a few others, and that Keith knew a lot of the other members on his team. As the planet came into view, he felt a wave of sadness. He was still dealing with the news that Keith was gone not just for him but he could feel the loss from Pidge and for his twin brother it was a massive loss. Pidge had been a part of this team for years, since they all graduated from the academy and even after he stepped down as the Green Pilot he stayed on Arus helping with the defense of Arus and the technology upgrades for both the castle and the lions and finally train the next batch of pilots to take on the role as members of Voltron Force. As they approached the spaceport, they could see other Arusian ships coming in as well. Chip had been told that the entire Diplomatic Corps had been recalled back to Arus that meant the group on Earth as well. Oh boy! That would definitely be noticed at GA and GG.
When he disembarked, he found both Pidge and Hunk waiting for him. He embraced both as the three tried to hold back the tears. A ground transport was waiting to take them back to the castle. They tried to make small talk trying to avoid discussing the elephant in the room. When they arrived, Lance and Pidge's replacement Vince, were waiting for them. They made their way inside and Lance lead him to his guest quarters where he can leave his stuff and freshen up. Once he'd unpacked he sought out Pidge to talk to him.
"So how's Allura doing?" He asked as they walked down the hallway.
"As best she can. The doctor has been keeping a close eye on her because of the pregnancy."
"Oh man," Chip blurted out. Chip almost forgot that she was pregnant, and that Keith would never get to meet his child.
They stopped in front of a door, "I've set this up to be your workspace while you're here." The two walked in and Chip looked around. He liked what he saw. If there was one thing about Arus, they kept up with the technology. "Thanks, this is cool,"
"Yeah I know. I'll have to show you some of the other stuff later. Right now we have a lunch meeting. You ready for this?"
Chip nodded, "Let's get to work."
