Bednarczykmiki: in a world like this, there is always trouble
Midnight Lost: well, I hope I was able to make it enjoyable for you. How can you not like the forest temple? It's chaos that messes with you to the point of infuriating as you can't find the damn small key for the one door you need to go through. She might. Mido is arrogant and a prick but….. No, I just wanted him not to be too much since things were going bad.
YeagerMeister31: I wanted to make it where the two were capable of handling things. And yeah, facing the boss is risky but time isn't really on their side here.
Dragon and Sword Master: thanks
Djinn: thank you
Smp2000: I'm trying not to be overwhelmed but my brain just keeps running through ideas.
Arashi Uzukaze: pairing is still in the air but we will see who is in it for both of the boys.

Chapter 8: Root of the problem
The village was calming down after the attack they had gone through, with civilians coming out of their hiding spots and began to clean up the streets.
All are under the supervision of shinobi and knights so if there are any remaining enemies, the civilians won't be harmed.
The students and instructors of the academy returned to the building after everything quieted down with the adults inspecting the damages while the students were given the option to either stay there or head home to make sure that everything there was alright.
Iruka made it back to the academy with most of his class with him as they knew that their families were capable of dealing with those enemies. They also thought that they would be of more use at the academy with clean-up.
One of the Hylian instructors came out of the front doors and saw that Iruka was working on cleaning up some of the damaged training fields. "Iruka!"
The scared chunin turned around to see who called him and smiled at the sight of one of his colleagues. "Good to see that you came out of this ordeal with just a few hairs missing.
The Hylian Instructor grumbled at that as he thought about the now missing sideburn he had of his long burgundy hair. "We can discuss my mismatched haircut after we have taken into stock of our students."
Iruka nodded as he was also concerned about any students that might be missing.
The Hylain instructor pulled out a small stack of papers before he turned through a few pages. "I was able to make sure that the other students of the other classes are all accounted for. Some of them headed home as they didn't know the state of their home-" He gained a knowing smirk as he continued. "-though I am sure that some of them just wanted to head home and skip out on any lessons that might appear once we fix all of this."
Iruka chuckled as he was sure that a couple of his own students did the same.
The instructor continued. "Your class is the last one that I haven't checked up with. Are you able to account for all of your students?"
Iruka pondered about the students he was with during the evacuation. He could account for all but one student. He grimaced at the thought of what could have happened to Naruto but he had no idea where he could be at the moment. "There is only one student I can say I do not know where is; Naruto. During the evacuation, he separated from the class and gave the signal that he would catch up with the rest of us. But I haven't seen him anywhere here."
The Hylian thought about the boy and remembered that he was the special one who was allowed entrance to the Lost Woods without ever having an issue. "We will send out a few other instructors to see if he is elsewhere in the village. With how chaotic things were, it wouldn't be out of the question if he was just aiding somewhere else." He turned around to head over to the building to do just as he said. "Perhaps he went into the Lost Woods. If he ended up here, he may have been the safest out of all of us."
Iruka shook his head as he began to walk next to the Hylian. "I don't think so. I think the enemies were coming from the Lost Woods. Some of us fought against Stalfos, one of them was Mizuki. This makes me think that the Lost Woods are the most dangerous part of the village right now."
The Hylian instructor paused before he looked to the shinobi with an urgent expression. "If what you say is true, we should head over to the Hokage and inform him about this."
Iruka nodded before they began to move toward the Hokage office so they could inform the third Hokage.
Hiruzen was on the street outside of the Hokage office as he was being informed about the damages in several areas before he instructed his shinobi to head to designated areas in order to supervise the cleanup or investigate the more damaged areas.
He was listening to one of the Hylians about how a few buildings were close to collapsing on a certain street when he heard that he was being called.
"Lord Hokage!"
Hiruzen looked over his shoulder to see Iruka and the Hylian instructor rushing toward him. He turned back to the person that he was talking to and finished speaking with him before he nodded to the man as he left. He then turned to face the two. "What can I do for you two?"
When the instructors made it to the village leader, Iruka spoke. "Sir, we have some information that we feel we need to tell you."
Hiruzen could see that there was some seriousness in their expressions. He grew serious himself as he awaited for them to tell him.
They brought up what they believed and Hiruzen turned his head in the direction of the forest.
"If what you said is true, we need to set up a few warriors around the entrances in order to limit any future attacks."
Iruka agreed to that but there was another matter he wanted to bring up. "sir, there is also the possible location of Naruto."
Hiruzen realized what the man meant and grew more concerned. The main problem was that there was no way that he could send any of his shinobi or the knights into the forest. "This may be a problem."
Before any of them could think of any way to make sure of Naruto's location, another voice spoke up.
"Excuse me, is it safe to assume that you are the Hokage of the village?"
The men turned to the one that spoke to see that it was a Deku. The three tensed up as they had been attacked by many Deku and they were still a little tense. After a second though, they eased up as the one that stood in front of them was standing at attention.
In fact, he was not only standing at attention, he almost had this air of pride to him. He also had the appearance of a butler with how his wooden skin and leaves were formed.
Hiruzen stepped forward before addressing the Deku's arrival. "I am. May I ask, who you are and what I may help you with?"
The Deku scrub nodded before he folded his arms behind his back. "I have arrived here on the orders of the Deku king as an escort for the representative of our kingdom. We have some matters that we would like to discuss with the leader of the village."
Hiruzen was a little surprised to hear about this as he wasn't expecting anyone to come from the Deku Kingdom. "Very well, the village is in slight disarray but I am free to meet with the representative right now."
The butler Deku nodded before he spun on his feet and opened the door to allow the representative in.
What the shinobi didn't expect was a young Deku girl who looked to be around the age of the academy students to walk in with a regal air about her.
The deku butler gestured to her as he spoke. "May I present; The Deku princess."
The humans were surprised that the princess of the Deku kingdom came here and they were wondering what it was she was here for. But they needed to be on their best behavior.
Link and Naruto were walking through a dark hallway that was barely lit by the light coming from the entrance, or rather, the opening of The Great Deku Tree's mouth.
Naruto looked around the tunnel before he asked. "Should we consider this being eaten by the Great Deku tree?"
Link covered his mouth to stifle his laughter before he tripped on a root.
It was Naruto's turn to chuckle at Link before he helped him up.
The two of them knew that this was a bit of small humor in order to lighten the tension. The reason for this was because they were nervous about what they were doing. Everything happened so fast and it was only now that they had a moment to think about all of it.
The two of them appreciated the notion before they continued. The path seemed to go on for a while as they had not seen any sign of them coming to anything significant. However, they did notice that the deeper they went, the darker it got.
Soon they had to stop as they could no longer see anything in front of them.
Link looked to Naruto and asked. "Do you have anything that can light the way?"
Naruto grabbed his pouch and brought it forward before looking through it for anything that would be able to help them.
Navi came out of Link's tunic and began to fly around them. "I can light up some of the darkness but it won't be enough to everything. We are gonna have to be very careful as we go in."
Naruto and Link watched the fairy before nodding. They didn't have much on them but they would deal with this as they can.
"There is no need for that."
The two kids jumped at the sudden voice before they looked up in shock. They looked around for where it might be coming from but they couldn't see anything in the dark or down the hall where a light from the entrance was.
It took him a second but Naruto recognized the voice. "Great Deku Tree?"
"Indeed, Naruto, I am able to communicate with you, but I do not hold enough power to do so for long. I am also aware that you are unable to see as there is no lumination within. Allow me to aid you in this small manner."
Before either of them could ask what he meant, they got their answer as the darkness began to fade away and the area became visible.
The inside of the Deku tree was like a tower of wood, with the walls enveloped in tangling vines, branches, and foliage. It could be seen that there were some ways higher made out of thick roots that ran along the walls. In the center was a large hole, and the bottom was not visible as the light did not reach it.
Link held out his hand for Navi to land on as he could tell she was feeling down at not being helpful. "Don't worry, you'll be able to help later on. I'm sure of it."
Navi chimed in appreciation before she noticed that there was something else in the Great Deku Tree. "It looks like we aren't alone in here."
The two noticed that there were hordes of Deku babas and Serpents, the latter already scurrying down the walls toward them.
Link pulled out his sword and shield while Naruto grabbed a Deku stick as they were going to have to deal with them.
Unknown to them, they were being watched from up above as it scurried around, keeping them in sight.
As they watched the serpents make their way towards them, they paused as they heard something unfamiliar.
Naruto looked around as he didn't know what the noise was. He had a bad feeling about it as it creeped him out as he asked his friend. "Uh, Link,... do you know what that is?"
Link was also as alert as he looked around for the sound. "No."
The two of them heard the scuttling get louder before a couple of thumps were made behind them and they turned around to see several skull faces coming down the wall.
Naruto jumped in fear as he hated the skulls and the fact that they were spiders. His mind made the connection of something he had heard of before. "Skulltulas!"
Link looked at Naruto as he was surprised he knew about them. "Why do you know the name?"
Naruto tightened his grip on his stick as he was readying himself. "A friend of mine loves bugs so he knows about these things. He told me that the skull side is hard as stone so the only way to deal with them is to hit them on the belly."
Link saw the skulltulas make it to the ground before they began to get closer. "So, how do we handle these?"
Naruto looked behind him to see the serpents closing in. "One at a time?"
Link groaned as it was clear that Naruto didn't have a way to deal with them. "Maybe we should take the serpents first?"
Naruto nodded as he did not like the idea of dealing with the skull spiders. He moved back to back with Link as he watched for the ones closing in.
Link gripped his sword tighter and readied his shield as they were now surrounded.
When the monsters closed in, one of the serpents jumped into the air with its maw wide open.
Naruto and Link stepped away in time as Link brought his sword into a slash into its mouth. With the momentum of the monster, it was split in two and went up in smoke and the stick twirled in the air. Naruto grabbed it and used it to smack away another of the serpents that jumped at them.
Link had to jump away from another of the monsters but he had to duck under a Deku baba as he had landed too close to a group of them. "WAH." He had to bend forward as another of the babas bit at him, just before he brought up his shield to block another. The hit was strong enough to make him stumble and he had to do the splits to avoid another set of teeth. While low, he rolled away from the bundle of monsters only to find himself jumping over one of the Skulltulas, but his jump was too short and he landed on top of it. He waved his arms at his side before steadying himself and smirked down at the monster he was on. He brought his sword up before thrusting it down at what looked to be the right eye.
CLANG*
Unfortunately, Link's sword bounced off and he found himself falling backward. He winced as he landed on the ground but when he opened his eyes, he panicked and rolled away as a set of teeth chomped down at him. He got to his feet and sliced the Serpent that tried to eat him.
Navi flew around Link's head before she told him in a panic. "Don't you remember!? Naruto said that its shell was super hard! I don't think your sword can cut it!"
"I thought he was exaggerating- WAH" Link had to jump to the side in order to avoid another baba. He slashed at it before he took a few steps back toward Naruto. "So how do we deal with them?" He said as he saw two of the Skulltulas scuttling toward them.
Naruto tried to think of something till he looked at the stick in his hand. He smiled as he looked over his shoulder at the two Link focused on. "We flip them!"
Before Link could ask, Naruto twisted around him and ran toward the skulltulas.
Once Naruto was close enough to the skull spiders, he stuck his deku stick into the ground in front of it. Once it was on the stick enough, he pushed the stick to lift the spider and flip it onto its back. Naruto looked over his shoulder at Link and called out. "Do it!"
Link saw what he did and nodded. He ran toward the flipped spider and jumped up, swinging his sword down on the soft belly of the spider, and killed it.
The two looked at each other and nodded as they now had a way to kill them. They got back up and faced the enemies that were coming their way.
As the two kids were killing the monsters, they were still being watched from above. A large yellow eye narrowed as it watched them. "Hrnn."
Naruto and Link were panting as they had just finished off the monsters that were attacking them. They leaned on each other's back as they slumped to the floor.
Naruto took a breath before letting it out. "This is the hardest thing I've had to deal with in all my life."
Link nodded as he put his sword down. "I thought the hardest thing I would ever do would be getting the weeds out of our gardens, but here I am, fighting monsters that infected the Great Deku Tree. Can I get a reward for this?"
The two kids laughed as they wanted the same thing. They figured they could get something for taking care of all these monsters.
Naruto thought about what they could get. "Maybe we could get a Deku leaf. I heard that the Deku Tree's leaf has magic in it that allows you to use it as a big fan and send large gusts of wind."
Link looked over his shoulder and gave Naruto a confused expression at him. "Where did you hear that? I've never heard of his leaves doing something like that."
Naruto shrugged. "I heard that someone found a large leaf in the Forest of Death and he used it as a way to launch strong gusts of wind. Since it was a big leaf and could do that, it was thought to be a leaf from the Great Deku tree. If it's true, I want one."
Navi floated up to Link's shoulder and asked. "If that was true, what would you do with it?"
Naruto shrugged again. "Nn-nnrn. Probably use it as an attack or something. I just think it sounds cool."
Link pushed himself up and brushed off his tunic. "Well, since we got rid of the monsters inside, we should head out and ask The Great Deku tree if he is ok."
Naruto nodded as he got off the ground as well.
Navi flew floated off Link's shoulder and looked around at the mess that was made of the Great Deku's insides. It was as she was looking around that she heard something above them. She looked up to find the source but it was too dark to see anything. She could still hear it and she tensed up as it made her feel uneasy. As she narrowed her sight at the darkness, she used her magic to help her find what it was till her sight focused on one spot.
Suddenly, from within the darkness, an eye opened up, focused on them, and began to rush down the wall toward them.
Navi panicked as she saw this. "Look out!"
Naruto and Link turned toward her and saw something massive flying down the wall before it hit the ground and rushed at them.
Navi grabbed the back of Link's tunic and pulled him out of the way just in time.
Naruto jumped in the opposite direction to avoid it but he was too slow as he was suddenly grabbed and found himself being carried away.
Link saw this and called out. "Naruto!" He grabbed his sword before he put it in its sheath, the shield on his back, and ran toward the wall. He placed his hand on the wall and looked up at where Naruto was taken before he looked at the vines and roots that lined the wall. Nodding to himself, he began to climb up after his friend.
Saria was making her way toward Link's house as she couldn't believe that he and Naruto would just stop helping after the chaos they went through with all the monsters that invaded their home. "We are in the middle of fixing up everything and those two run off to do who knows what." She stopped in front of Link's house and called up. "Naruto! Link! We are in the middle of fixing up our home! You can't just stop helping in the middle of it!" She waited for one of them to show up and apologize before they got back to work but after a few seconds, she forward harder. "Naruto, Link!?" After not getting an answer, she sighed and began to climb the ladder. "If you two are sleeping, I am going to pull your ears hard enough that Naruto will look like one of us." She made it up and walked into Link's house, expecting to see them either on the floor or one of them on the bed, sleeping. Yet, when she saw neither of them, her frown became one of concern. "Where are-?"
"Saria."
Saria and her fairy looked out of the door before they moved to the balcony and turned toward where the forest guardian was. "Great Deku Tree?"
"Saria…."
Saria clutched her chest as she had a bad feeling about what was going on.
Naruto felt like he was about to lose his lunch from the force of the grab but he was thankfully able to keep it in. He felt himself stop and looked at the thing that grabbed him before leaning his head back at the massive eye that stared at him.
"Where is the stone!"
Naruto was surprised to hear whatever this thing was speaking. "What the-"
"Give me the STONE!" the giant creature flailed the boy before it threw him toward the other side of the tree.
Naruto's back hit the wall and he immediately grabbed one of the vines and dangled there as he looked down. They were extremely high up, and he knew that he didn't have the training to be able to land from this height. When he heard the creature move, he looked up to see it crawling to the side toward him. He panicked and kicked off the wall and let the vine swing him out of the way. He saw there were a few more vines hanging in the center and he let go of the one he had and grabbed another one. He smiled as he was swinging to the other side.
"Give me the stone!"
His smile dropped when he saw the creature moving fast to where he was supposed to land. "Crapcrapcrapcrap!" He was then grabbed by the creature again and brought up to its eye.
"Where is the stone!?"
Naruto was getting tired of being flung around by this thing as he reached in between its pincer, into his pocket, and pulled out a Deku nut. "How about this stone!?" He closed his eyes and threw the nut at its eye, causing it to flash in between them.
The monster shrieked in pain and threw Naruto in the air as it began to crawl franticly along the wall while flailing its pincers.
Naruto found himself weightless as he began to fall. "Oh craaaaaaa~" He reached out to grab one of the vines around him and grit his teeth as his hand slid down it, slowing his fall.
Unfortunately, one of the flailing pincers of the creature cut the vine he was using and he found himself falling once more. While he screamed, his mind was on overdrive, trying to think of a way to save himself.
Link pulled himself on a large root that jutted out from the wall. He panted as he was tired from the climb but he was not going to stop. His friend was in trouble and he was gonna help.
Navi wished she could help him but she didn't have the power to carry him. As she was about to say something, she heard a scream and looked up and focused on her sight. Her eyes widened and called out to Link. "Link, Look up!"
He did so and he saw his friend falling toward them. He panicked as he didn't see any way for him to help his friend. He looked around for something that he could use to at least slow down Naruto's fall.
Naruto saw Link on the root looking up at him. It would have been a reassurance, but he was going to miss the root and there was no way Link could catch him from the distance he was. He then came up with something. It was dumb but it was all he had. He quickly brought in the vine he still had and called out. "Link! CATCH!" He threw one end of the vine toward his friend, hoping it would help stop his fall.
Link saw the vine and took a few steps back to catch it. He was able to grab the vine and smiled as he thought he could try to stop Naruto's fall. Unfortunately, he stepped too far and slipped off the other side of the root.
Navi panicked at the sight. "Link! Naruto!" she flew down toward Link and grabbed his tunic, using anything she could to help him.
Naruto saw Link fall and he couldn't help but scream. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?" He now felt dread for not only him, but Link was now in danger.
Yet, the vine the two had was looped around the root Link was on and suddenly hooked on and the two boys suddenly jolted to a stop thanks to the vine. But the momentum caused them to swing in and they flew past each other and flipped head over heels before the vine snapped and the two were now falling with each other.
The two screamed in panic as now nothing could stop their fall. They hugged each other as tears came out of their eyes.
The two fell dead center of the room and soon slipped into the hold that they saw before and were now falling in pitch dark. The fact they couldn't even see the ground caused their panic to rise and feared when they would hit the ground.
After a few seconds, they finally impacted with something, yet it was not the ground. A loud splash was heard as their screams ended.
Naruto and Link blinked owlishly as their cheeks puffed out. They let go of the other and began to swim up before they broke the surface and gasped for air.
Navi saw them and flew over their heads. "Are you two ok?"
The two were heaving in air before they looked at the only light source and nodded.
Naruto spat out some water as he looked at his friends. "I don't know whose luck we got, but thank Hylia for that."
Link nodded. "I think I love water."
The three laughed as they were happy they were able to survive that.
However, their laughter stopped when another, much larger splash, was heard not too far away from them.
The wave sent them away from whatever entered the water and they hit the wall and looked to where they were.
"Where is the stone!? Give me the stone!"
The two boys kept silent so as to not tell the monster where they were while the fairy flew into Link's Tunic so as not to be seen. They did their best not to make any noise even though the waves of water were smashing them against the wall.
The creature kept flailing in the water, bringing the back of its pincers to its eye as it was still stinging from the flash earlier. "GIVE ME THE STONE!"
After it flailed a bit more, it moved away from the boys until it dove into the water and vanished in the dark depths.
For a few minutes, the boys stayed silent in case it would come out of the water again, but after they were sure that it was gone, they relaxed as they were safe. With Navi's help lighting up some of the area, they found some land and pulled themselves up out of the water and now sat down with Navi in between them as she was the only light source.
Naruto was exhausted as he still hadn't gotten attention to his earlier wounds and the fight at the start just made it worse. He leaned back on his hands as he brought up his thoughts. "So I'm guessing that thing was what is causing The Deku tree problems."
Navi chimed positively. "Yes, its name is Gohma. It was placed in The Great Deku Tree by someone who was trying to steal an important object."
Naruto thought back to when it had him and brought it up. "It sounded like it was looking for a stone. Any idea what stone it's talking about?"
Link wrung the water out of his hat before he placed it back on his head. "No clue. But whatever it wants, it is causing problems for all of us. We gotta get rid of it. Especially since it is inside the Great Deku tree and it is obviously not good."
Naruto hummed in agreement before he brought his hand to his eye. "Well, from what I could tell, the eye is the weak point so if we poke it hard enough, we can probably get rid of it." He groaned as he flopped down on his back. "Not how I wanted the day to go. I thought the most exciting thing to happen today was sparing, not the monster attack and us ending up in The Great Deku tree's stomach."
Link smiled as he lightly kicked Naruto's foot. "Think of us as his defense against this bad cold."
Naruto lifted his head to look at Link. "More like indigestion."
The three had a small laugh at that before they all got up and made their way to the edge of the stone platform they were on.
Navi flew down to float above the water's surface till she found a dark spot where it was clear there was an underwater tunnel that led deeper into the tree.
Naruto looked at the hole as his lips thinned. "How good is your swimming?"
Link grew determined as he gripped the sword tight in his hand. "Pretty good. You ready?"
Naruto took a breath and nodded. "As ready as I'll ever be."
The two boys looked at each other before they nodded and jumped into the water, swimming above the underwater tunnel, before they dove down.
The tunnel was rather long as it took them about ten minutes to get to the end. It was to their fortune that they found some air pockets on the way. It was clear that despite the Great Deku tree not being able to communicate, he was still able to help as the boys watched the roots shift to reveal the air pockets.
The two boys surfaced in a small pool of water before they came out to see that they were in the middle of a dimly lit room.
The Great Deku tree tried to light up the area for the boys but his power was dimming so it could only light it enough for the boys to see.
The room was dome-like with roots forming it and four tree-like pillars symmetrically set up. There was a small bit of mist that covered the ground.
The two boys walked into the room ready for anything as they weren't sure if Gohma was there or not. As they walked into the center of the room, they jumped as something fell from above in front of them. They readied themselves for a fight, Link with a sword and Naruto with some Deku nuts. But they noticed that it was too small to be Gohma, in fact, it was barely two feet in size and looked like a weird egg. The boys were still at the ready as they didn't know what it was.
Suddenly, the egg cracked open before a creature with only two legs and a large eyeball came out and jumped at them.
Link swung his sword at it and watched it disperse into smoke after the hit.
Naruto looked at the eggshell it came out of with furrowed eyebrows. "That thing looked just like Gohma. Did it shrink while we were underwater?"
Navi came out and flew in front of Naruto. "There is no way it would shrink to that size just from going underwater."
Naruto and Link were about to look up at where the egg had fallen from but several thumps were heard and they looked around to see more eggs falling down. They finally jutted their gaze up and saw Gohma shift its eye in its socket before it looked at them. They had to jump back as Gohma fell from the ceiling and landed where they were once standing.
Gohma's eyes shifted right and focused on the boys as the eggs began to hatch and it was surrounded by Gohma's larva. "Give me the SSTTOOOOOOONNNNNNEEE~!"
The two boys nodded at each other before they got ready for the attack. They ran toward the monsters as they wanted to end this here and now.
Naruto was the first one to make a move as he threw down a Deku nut to the ground and covered his eyes, just as the flash overtook the room.
Link was able to cover his eyes in time for the flash as he ran toward the monsters. Once he opened his eyes, his eyesight seemed to focus on the monsters and it was like his vision concentrated on the one he wanted to attack.
Navi was using her magic in order to give Link focus on the monsters so he would be able to strike more efficiently. It was one of her abilities to help Link and was glad she was able to help.
Link swung at one of the larvae before spinning around and stabbing another one, destroying both.
Naruto followed Link as he began to kick the larva hard enough to kill them. He was glad they were weak enough to die after one hit and they needed to kill them fast so they could focus on Gohma.
The two boys already knew that if they could take out the weaker monsters, they wouldn't have to worry about being overtaken by numbers. After a minute, they were able to finish off the larvae and turned to face the boss. They had assumed it would still be blinded by the flash but to their surprise, they saw that Gohma had its eye closed.
Gohma already understood that the small nut in Naruto's hand would cause a flash, so in order to avoid being blinded once more, it shut its eye just as the nut hit the floor. It opened its eye before it focused on the boys and shrieked at them, swiping at them with one of its pincers.
Link brought up his shield to block the pincer just in time, but the force of the strike threw him off his feet.
Naruto dropped to the ground as the pincer flew over his head. He watched as Link went flying and barely caught sight of the other pincer coming from the other side. He panicked as he forced himself to jump up over it. Unfortunately, the pincer hit his foot and caused him to spin around uncontrollably in the air. He found himself falling on top of Gohma and he gripped hard on a few of the small hairs that came out of it.
Link rolled on the ground and was able to stop on his knee and looked up to see Naruto on its back. He got to his feet and ran toward the monster to at least try and strike at the large eye that they figured was the weak point. He had to come to a stop as one of the pincers slammed in front of him. Link had to bring up his shield and began to step back as the pincers began to swipe at him.
Naruto did his best to hold on as it was a good thing he was on it as it gave him the spot to hit anything vulnerable. Though, he wanted to help Link so he used his left hand to reach into his pockets to pull out some Deku nuts. He smiled as he was able to grab some but the monster began to thrash about, causing Naruto to drop the ones he grabbed, scattering on the ground, as he now used both hands to hang on. "Hold Still!"
Link ducked under one of thepincers and ran forward to try and strike the eye.
Gohma though, saw this and stepped back to avoid it.
Link growled as he missed the eye as it stepped back. He looked down and figured that he could try and make it easier next time so he moved under its left arm and swung at its leg to make it harder for it to move. Unfortunately, he had to roll away as it began to flail around even more.
Naruto gripped tighter as he reached up to grab its eyelid and brought it up, which was a miracle as his legs were now flying in the air. "Will….you…hold…STILL!?"
Link jumped back as a pincer came down on him and he fell on his ass and saw the pincer strike in between his legs. He looked up in shock before he brought his legs in and kicked off the pincer as it was pulled out and brought back down on him. He was able to scramble away from the strikes before he rolled onto his feet. He had to bring his shield up to block a piercing strike and was glad that the wood of the Deku Tree was strong enough to protect him.
A hand came down and picked up one of the nuts dropped on the ground.
Naruto was able to pull himself forward and grabbed the eyelid before pulling it up to keep it open. "Link! Strike it!"
Link saw what Naruto was doing but he couldn't find a chance to strike. "Hang on! I'm busy!"
"Hey!"
Naruto and Link shifted their gaze at the one that shouted and were shocked to see Saria standing there, with the slingshot in her hand.
Saria focused on the large monster as she had the Deku nut pulled back on the Slingshot. "Don't mess with my boys." She let the Deku nut loose and watched as it flew straight toward the monster's eye
Gohma shifted his gaze toward the coming projectile just in time for it to impact. He shrieked in pain as the flash and paralyzing effect of the nut stunned him and he fell to the ground as his eye wobbled all around.
Naruto looked toward Link and called out. "NOW!"
Link pulled his sword back jumped over the pincer and thrusted his sword forward, right into the eye.
The monster shrieked loudly as it threw its head back, launching the boys away in opposite directions. It slammed its pincers on the ground, ripping apart the ground and causing some of the roots above to snap from the force of the shaking. It continued to do this for another minute before it froze.
The three kids watched as the monster froze and waited in case it would continue the fight but they saw it go up in blue flames with pieces of it falling to the ground and disintegrating. As Gohma finally disappeared they all dropped their arms as they realized that it was finally over.
The two boys were panting heavily as they went through a lot in order to get rid of all the monsters, Naruto more so since his leg was now throbbing from all the pressure he put on it.
Naruto lost strength in his legs before he fell back onto the ground.
Saria put a hand on her chest to calm her heart before she ran over to Naruto as she saw he was the more wounded of the two. "Naruto, are you ok?"
Naruto continued to pant as he turned his head. "We beat that thing, saved the Great Deku Tree, and it's still not even the end of the day. I think I need some food in me before I get to say 'yes'."
Saria shook her head in exasperation at his answer. She wanted to scold him but she was just glad they were ok. She turned around to see Link slowly walking to them.
Link made it to them before he fell on his but and smiled at his friends. "This was the most crazy meet-up we've ever had."
The three had a small laugh at that, enjoying the calm after the battle.
Naruto then looked at Saria as he was confused about something. "How did you get here? We fought a bunch of monsters and even fell into that hole without knowing what was at the bottom, and then swam through the underwater tunnel to get here. But here you are, not tired, not even wet. Did we miss a shortcut or something?"
Saria felt more worried for the boys as she heard what they went through in order to get here. Looking them over, she could believe it as their clothing was completely shredded. Before she could say anything, her fairy came out and answered the boy.
"The Great Deku Tree actually teleported us in here so we could help. He felt that you would need our help, and it looks like he was right."
Navi came out of Link's tunic and flew next to Saria's fairy. "If you hadn't come when you did, we might have had a harder time killing that thing."
Link nodded before he looked around. "Well, now that we don't have to deal with that thing, we should probably start making our way out of here."
Naruto groaned as he looked at the ceiling. "Climbing out of that hole is gonna be a headache."
"No need to worry, young ones, I will aid you in that."
The kids looked up as they heard the Great Deku tree speak, just before a blue light caught their attention.
A few feet away from them, a glowing blue circle appeared with a light hum being heard.
Saria pointed at the glowing circle as she exclaimed. "That was how we got here. We stepped in and it teleported us here. If we step into it, it should take us out of here."
Naruto smiled as he pushed himself up. "Great, we don't have to climb out of here."
Link and Saria moved to be under his arms as they helped him walk.
The three kids and fairies moved into the circle before they were encased in a transparent crystal and lifted off the ground.
The three kids came floating down, outside and in front of the Great Deku tree.
When their feet hit the ground, they all took a breath as they felt relieved that they were out in the open.
Naruto even felt better as his body didn't feel like it had gone through everything they just did. He even looked down at his foot and saw that it had been healed. He tapped his foot on the ground with a big smile on his face. "Sweet! I don't have to go to the hospital now!"
Saria looked at his old injury before she knelt down and undid the cloth she used as a makeshift bandage. She saw the cloth had some blood on it but the injury from before was gone. She smiled that Naruto was alright and stood up as she patted his shoulder. "You should still get some rest since you went through a lot." She pulled on his cheek as her smile became strained. "And you are not to do anything stupid like that again!"
"Indeed, young Naruto, I used my power to heal your wounds as I brought you out but rest is what you need."
The three looked up at the Forest protector and smiled.
Link was the first to speak to the tree. "We were able to get rid of the thing that was hurting you."
"I had no doubt that you would be able to remove such a burden on me and I thank you for saving me." He looked down at the smiling faces of the children and knew those smiles would vanish from what he had to tell them. "But…. it would seem that the damage has been done."
This caused the three kids to pause and look up in worry.
Naruto stepped forward as he asked. "What do you mean? The curse should be gone and all you need is to recover from it." He didn't like the finality that came from the Great Deku tree's voice.
"Yes, young Naruto, the curse has indeed been lifted. However, the damage it has done is far too great and I have very little time."
The three kids felt distraught at the news and they ran up to his roots and begged him to be lying. That he just needed something to feel better, but no matter what they did, the Deku Tree knew it was too late.
"I am sorry, I wish there was a way, but I have accepted my fate."
Naruto felt tears slide down his face as he leaned his forehead on the large root he leaned on. "We went through all of that to save you. Why!? Were we too slow!? Should we have been faster!?"
"No. It was already too late when you first arrived. I was already fated to die from the curse placed on me but I needed the creature to be defeated so it would not harm any of my children. I truly wish you not cry for me, but I know that sometimes, tears are all you can release." He took a wheezing breath, hearing the cries of the three children. "Link, Naruto, I have one last story to give you. Will you hear it?"
Naruto's fist curled into a fist as he nodded slowly.
Link looked up as tears ran down his face and nodded, trying his best to smile.
Saria gently placed a hand on the boys' shoulders before she guided them to sit in front of the Great Deku tree. The three sat together with Saria, holding the two boys' heads in her arms.
The three sat there as the Great Deku Tree told them the story of the dark man that cursed him, the sacred real he seeks, and the three goddesses that created the lands and the power they had left behind.
~meanwhile~
Ganondorf was looking out at the expansive field that his troupe was traveling. They had stopped for a moment to allow their horses to rest before they continued on to their next destination. He stood alone, away from his escort as he held up a hand in front of him. "Hmm. so you were destroyed. You failed me and returned with nothing." He looked at his palm as a small bug crawled on it. He clenched his fist around it as it lit up in dark flames. "I should destroy you for this failure….. But perhaps I could use you once more." He opened his palm as the bug was encased in dark flames before it disappeared. "But for now, suffer in the gap between realms. When I need you again, I will summon you for my bidding once more."
"Lord Ganadorf!"
The man turned around to see Urbosa walking up to him. "What is it?"
Urbosa put a hand on her hip as she gestured to the others. "We believe we have rested enough to continue our journey. We are ready to move on when you are ready."
Ganondorf nodded before he spun around and made his way to his horse. "Saddle up! I want to reach our next destination on the morrow!"
Urbosa watched the man from behind before following. Her instincts were warning her but the Gerudo traditions were law.
Ganadorf knew he was being watched by the woman and felt that he should remove her from his escort. He felt that he would be better in his travels if he were to do it alone. And his plans would go more smoothly as such. He would make this decision true after his next meeting.
End of chapter
I am sorry for the long delay but I kinda got inspiration for other stories and got lost in it.
How do you think I did in the fight? Too long, too short? I'm not sure.
In previous chapters, I said I am merging the worlds of Zelda into the world of Naruto but there is something I plan on doing with some of the characters. I plan on redesigning them. But only a bit so they still remain true to the Zelda world. One character I plan on redesigning is the Deku Princess. I plan on doing this as I had the idea of her potentially being a pairing option. But even if I don't go that way, it would be fine to redesign her and upload it.
I already did this with a character I plan on adding from Windwaker: Midli. I redesigned her so she would look more like Breath of the Wild Rito, which I will be introducing soon.
And I need to come up with a new look for Naruto cause the look he has now is more casual clothing.
The next update will not take as long as I want to continue these stories. And I want to get back to my Naruto fics since I have been in a Danny Phantom mood for a while now.
I will also be making a new cover art as my skills have improved a lot and I can draw faster now.
Hope you look forward to the next chapter
Flames will be ignored.
