Hello and welcome to the next chapter of my story. Now as always I won't go into detail but I am figuring out my own stuff which is a headache in a half…with other events not helping anything. But anyways this should still make it out this month but if it doesn't I am sorry. We shall see what happens and eventually I will get my shit together.
Chapter 25
~Private gym room~
"Wh-what do you mean you killed Cell? You were just a little kid!" Videl couldn't help but yell shocked.
shrug* "ki works in ways that surprise even us. I just saw everything that was going on and felt the rage boiling up in me. Next thing I know I am the one facing him." Gohan tells her. "Technically not a lie just not saying that my alien trait let me break through to a surprising new level due to rage." he mentally added.
"Ok…putting that shocking statement to the side for a minute." Videl mutters deciding to process it later to push past the loss of words she had at the moment. After all she had more information that she needed to get while she had the chance. Then she would see what she truly believes.
"So, will you tell me what happened that day then? And please don't leave anything out." Videl asked.
"I told you I would answer you truthfully Videl so I will tell you. BUT know that I will leave out some people's information. I know you are trying to make sense of things but I need to ask permission before I tell their secrets." Gohan told her and explained when he saw her getting ready to complain.
"...i guess that is fair enough. S-so start your explanation." Videl told him trying to push back the fear she felt. She really wanted to believe in her dad and all he said. But he broke her trust and isn't making sense logically. Even if it would shatter her image of her father she just HAD to know.
one telling of the Cell fight later (minus aliens, aliens, and a few emotional moments)*
"Wait so you are telling me that the 'help' my father did was throwing some robots head out to be killed!?" Videl cried out stunned.
"Well it sounds worse when you put it that way….oh but he did keep the media from trying to hunt us down which is nice." Gohan told her rubbing his head.
siiiigh* "Leaving that part alone for right now until I force my dad to tell me more as well. So, let's get into further questions before they make my head burst from stacking up." Videl told the group honestly seeing as she now felt like she only had more questions to go with her big answer. Something that she just knew would weigh on her mind like a cement block if not fixed.
"Go ahead Videl we aren't going anywhere." Gohan told her kindly.
"Sadly." Bri grumbled getting a kick from Lime.
"Well let's start off with the biggest question. Why the FUCK did two kids get allowed into a death match AND why were you actually put into battle!" Videl asked still quite disturbed by this fact.
Course the group before her didn't answer right away and instead glanced at each other for a few seconds. Finally Lime began to speak as they all looked back at Videl.
"Videl normally I would agree with you one hundred percent. But it all has to do with the families we told you with golden hair. As much as it looks like a horribly brutal and barbaric thing to do. For their culture it is completely normal and even expected to have the young enter battles. These battles normally aren't quite as dangerous as that one but none the less it is part of becoming an adult for their culture. I will say that I also don't agree with the fact that Gohan was put into the real battle himself but the person in question that chose this is not here to explain himself further." Lime explained.
"But…but that is just" Videl began to say.
"I know it is crazy to us. But like I said it is a way of life for them and we have to respect it…but I do also think it was too early for a kid to enter the frontlines." Lime told her. Course the other two looked to be holding back their own thoughts but remained silent.
"I…well I guess you are just going to tell me to talk to the man involved instead of telling me anything more on this." Videl states.
"You would be correct." Lime told her simply.
"Great…well I will have to remember to do that. Next question. How was throwing a robot even something that helped you?"
"Well it wasn't actually him throwing it that helped per say. But the robot asked him to do it so he could talk me out of the mind set that I got stuck in. Without him being able to talk to me I might not have been able to use the strength I had locked inside of me. Something that could have made the battle results be quite different than they were." Gohan tells her. While thoughts of what would have not happened if he didn't let his power go to his head.
"Power locked inside of you? Is this some damn cartoon?" Videl muttered at the absurdity of his answer.
"Well when you have ki involved it might as well be. As we have told you before the applications of ki seem to truly be never ending." Bri adds in.
"Again I don't know enough to actually properly judge that statement….So, why did you guys just up and leave?"
"Well like I said earlier my friends and me really didn't want anyone trying to butt into our personal lives. So, rather than bask in the glory we chose to simply leave the area with no leads of how to annoy us. Granted we didn't ever expect Mr. Satan to have done what he did. Nor did we ever think that people would go as crazy as they did with it either." Gohan told her.
"You didn't expect people to go crazy about someone saving the world!? I mean that is a pretty big deal!" Videl states shocked.
"Heh, You would be surprised. I mean the results of the world being saved the two or three times before that went by with nearly no publicity." Bri tells her with a smirk only to get a kick from an annoyed Lime.
"The world was saved more than once!?" Videl asked stunned.
"Yes…well there was an alien that wanted to rule over everything with an iron fist that would have turned any opposition into rubble. And there was a few…alien warriors that came seeking treasure that would have destroyed everything till they got it. But both of these had only a small amount of normal people seeing it so I guess they were able to fade into history pretty fast." Gohan admitted. After all explaining it properly would open up more secret and more questions.
sigh* "Even with getting my answers I somehow feel like I am only getting more headaches." Videl complains rubbing her head.
"I understand. Don't worry I was the same but after a while you get use to it." Lime tells her making the other two look a bit sheepish.
"Well I will leave that alone for a while before I get even more questions piled up in my seemingly ever growing stash. Let's talk about stuff that I really should have ages ago." Videl tells the group who look at her mildly surprised. "Don't give me that look! I know I said I wanted answers to ease my list but you seem to somehow only add to it with each answer you give. So, I will put a lot of questions on the back burner for now."
(AN: I am sorry in advance if I did any of this before. I honestly cant remember and probably should have done some of it at least like 10 chapters ago but…*shrug*)
"So…what are we exactly?" Videl asked making Gohan clearly confused. "I know you are dating both of these two but yet we are engaged. You guys clearly have no plans to break up. But instead of forcing me to back off or even just ignoring me you are being nice to me." Vide explained further.
"Videl…yes we are still dating as the girls have decided to share me for…reasons that I can't say right now. And if you truly want to be with me you will have to join our group. BUT I have no desire to make this something you have to do. I do find you as one of my friends and want to do what I can to make you stay happy but I just can stop my relationship. After all we were forced together by politics more than feelings." Gohan explained to her making Videl feel like someone stabbed her heart.
"HOLD UP. Before we get any other misconceptions thank to this idiot." Bri states glaring at Gohan for a brief second. "What my boyfriend who understands next to nothing when it comes to relationships means is that he wants you to do what you want. You didn't ask to be stuck with us and you really didn't have a choice thanks to politics. But he does care for you and want you to be happy. If you choose to join us this oaf would certainly be interested. He just doesn't want to force you into anything." Bri explains. "And you would think that you could explain things at least a little bit more clearly with how smart you are." She told him with mild annoyance.
"So, what he meant was that I have the freedom to pick between several options and you would respect anything I choose and be supportive?" Videl asks getting nods confirming this. Somehow this made her chest feel quite a bit lighter even with the complications. At least now she knew that she wouldn't be just placed on the way side as two girls were with the person, she had a crush on. Course she would have to share which she honestly didn't know what to feel about but at least she wouldn't be left strung out. "I…I need time to think about that. And really need the reasons you talked about."
"G-give me some time and I will tell you…but let's just give it some time to let you truly soak in what we just told you about before giving you more ok?" Gohan told her honestly. After all the girl certainly had a lot on her plate even without aliens and repopulation talks.
"Ok…now I have a lot to think about." Videl admitted. As much as she wanted to press on with the conversation she already felt her eyes practically swimming as she digested the information and came to conclusions. Lime stood up and put a gentle hand on Videl's shoulder.
"How about we end this 'meeting' here for today? You have a lot to think about and we aren't going anywhere. Just take it slow and find your own understanding. Don't worry we will wait for you as long as you need." Lime tells her with a small smile.
After all, if she was honest Videl deciding to remain away from them or come closer to them really didn't affect her much. At most they might have to use the dragon balls to fix an issue if it comes up but that was far from necessary at the moment. With Videl Lime couldn't help but think that a slow but steady flow of information is the best way to work. Too much and she will just shut down and refuse to believe what wasn't the 'truth' she knew and too little and she will just get frustrated with secrets being withheld from her.
"…ya let's do that." Videl eventually agreed. "Thank you for being honest with me I really appreciate it…even if loads of this just seems too outlandish to be real." Videl admitted honestly.
"Heh ya normal lives kind of refuse to be within a hundred feet of our families." Bri states with a smirk. "Now go slow and think about what we talked about." She told Videl before they finally left the gym. Leaving the young Satan alone with her own thought process.
"So we have gotten a lot of new information. I finally have the 'golden warriors' side of the story with Cell, some basic information about their group, and even some more thoughts on our current relationship. Now let's just get my thoughts in order. I already screwed up once and nearly blew my chances of being friends with their group I CAN'T rush in and make another stupid mistake…as much as it would be SO much easier to do…" Videl thought not even bothering to leave the room.
Some time later
"Videl! Where are you?" A loud booming voice called out through the gym.
"Dad?" Videl asks as she walks to the main lobby where he was standing.
"Good news! They have finally finished getting the house all set up and the staff are all back in their proper routines. So, we can finally leave this place and live back in the comfort we have gotten use to. Let's go home." Mr. Satan tells her with a large smile.
"…wait dad…" Videl muttered confusing him. "I…managed to talk to the gold fighters." Videl admitted and watched as her dad physically recoiled in shock.
"You did!?" Mr. Satan yelled out then coughed to regain himself. "a-and what did they tell you?" he asked trying to hide his worry.
"They told me all about the battle with Cell. And who did what parts." Videl told him walking up to him. "So…please. No lies this time. No half-truths. Just tell me what happened that day…please." Videl asked him. They both stood there for a few seconds that felt like hours before Mr. Satan finally let out a heavy sigh.
"Fine this is what happened. But remember everything I did was for you and to let the world have a hero they can rely on." He told her seriously.
*one story of Cell with heavily missed area after being knocked out and not understand almost everything that was going on*
"So that is the help that you are so proud of. Really just throwing a head at the fighters?" Videl asked finding herself annoyed.
"Well…I did fight with Cell first before my body was causing me problems. But it did lead to the end of the battle…I think." Mr. Satan told her.
"I can't believe it! All of this fame built up on doing next to nothing in reality! When they told me I really wanted to believe you wouldn't stoop that low; I really did. But nope. My father the 'all mighty fighter' really is just riding on the coat tails of true power that is just nice enough to ignore his antics." Videl grumbled angrily. She knew she was rushing into things again but just couldn't help it. All these years of thinking he was someone she truly could be proud of just finished breaking.
"But I did it for us! For this world! Those weirdos were far above something anyone of us would be able to understand! Do you know how much panic it would have caused in this world? That is why I had to do it. And I DID help them." Mr. Satan told her trying to appease her a bit.
tsk* "If you actually were doing it for the world and not just for your own greed then why did you spend all this time completely bad mothing them. Even if you were to deny the existence of ki surely there would be ways to do it without slandering them every other sentence." Videl told him. At this Mr. Satan was quiet. He really wanted to respond but for once he just was unable to find the words to say.
"…I need some time alone." Videl told him firmly. She then walks away from him back to where her room was.
"Wait Videl!" Mr. Satan called out following her and desperately trying to talk to her as she quickly packed a bag with some of her things. "No! You are still not an adult young lady and I refuse to let you leave my care!" He finally told her as she got close to the gym's door.
"No. I AM leaving until I can sort my thoughts. Until then I don't want to see you again or else I will tell everyone just how much of a phony you are." Videl threatened him making him visibly cringe in fear.
"B-but Honey-" Mr. Satan started only to be stopped by a glare.
"I will stop if you can honestly tell me that you didn't have a single greedy thought when you set up this lie." Videl growled out. She then waited a few seconds only to have silence between the two of them. "I thought so." Videl told him then left the gym.
"V-videl…" Mr. Satan called out sadly.
AN: As a service to both my story and this kind of pathetic Mr. Satan just imagine all of this happening at an off hour for the gym so no one was around. And for my sake this will be the weekend.
~Erasa's house~
"Erasa honey can you come down here for a minute." Erasa's mother calls out up the stairs.
"Yes mom what do you-" Erasa tells her coming downstairs until she sees a clearly distressed Videl sitting at a table. "VIDEL! What happened?" Erasa calls out to her best friend.
"I-I had an argument with dad…" Videl told her honestly unsure of how much to say.
"Oh Videl." Erasa muttered giving her a hug. "Don't worry you can stay here as long as you need to. Right mom?" Erasa tells her looking over to her mother.
"Of course honey." Her mother told the two with a kind smile.
"Thank you. I promise I will have a plan sorted out soon and be out of your hair." Videl told her. After all she really didn't ever plan on leaving the Satan house so suddenly so she currently only had mostly the essentials and her regular capsule set.
"Oh don't worry hun. I have always felt as if you were a second daughter to me. You can stay for as long as you need." Erasa's mother told her. "But it is never good to let things sit for too long. Do at least try to come to an understanding with your dad."
"I will try." Videl told her truthfully.
"Good now let's get you set up. You can stay in the spare bedroom for now." Erasa tells her pushing Videl up the stairs.
"So, what happened?" Erasa asks sitting on the bed near Videl.
"W-we just had a disagreement over things he hiding from me for all this time. Don't worry I will get things figured out soon enough." Videl told her vaguely. Course instead of getting mad at her or trying to force out information like she normally would Erasa just gave Videl a quick hug.
"Ok. I am always around if you need someone to talk to." Erasa told her then walked out of the room letting Videl be alone. "Poor gal must have been something real bad if she doesn't want to even tell me. I mean we have known everything about each other for basically our entire lives." Erasa thought as she walked back to her room but didn't try to push the matter.
~Next day; Son residence~
The son family was eating lunch as normal when they heard a helicopter land seemingly near to the house. So, they quickly got out of the house and looked to find Videl's copter sitting in their clearing.
"Hey Videl what are you doing here?" Gohan asked the girl as she got out and walked over to them.
"I have just decided that we are going to do our training here instead of at the gym. It is more private after all." Videl told him.
"Ok hold on. Before we even talk about the training what is wrong? You look like you have hardly slept." Mel states.
"Ya, if you aren't feeling well we can hold off on training. Let me fly you back to the gym it will be much faster so you can rest." Gohan tells her.
"No." Videl states firmly. "I am fine…I just don't want to train in the gym anymore. So, can we start training soon?" Videl asks.
"Umm sure Videl if that is what you want. Just let us finish eating. Want any?" Gohan asks.
"Gohan only you would ask someone if they want to eat right before they train." Mel mutters shaking her head.
"No. That's fine I will wait." Videl told them then followed them into the house and sat down on the couch. She was welcomed to the table but refused as to not interrupt the family time. Though she couldn't help but watch from afar as it seemed like four bottomless pits sucked up a large pile of food in record time. But before she knew it their meal was finished and Gohan looked back over to her.
"Well thanks for waiting. Let me get changed and we can go find a good spot." Gohan told her with a small smile and walked up to his room. Meanwhile Mel and Georgia got started on helping Chichi clean the plates.
"And they try to say chivalry isn't dead." Videl couldn't help but mutter under her breath seeing this.
"What is chivalry?" A voice asked her making her jump a bit as she saw Goten standing close to her.
"What? O-oh. I was just surprised that your brother wasn't helping with the clean up." Videl told him avoiding the question.
"Well it's not our turn to help. I mean there is only so much space in the kitchen so we set up a turn rotation." Goten explains.
"O-oh sorry." Videl tells him awkwardly only to get a confused look and head tilt in return.
"What are you sorry for?" Goten asks.
"N-no reason." Videl tells him awkwardly remembering he didn't even understand her first statement. But of course had NO desire to explain the situation to him.
"Ok…so tell me are you the real Videl Satan?" Goten asks.
"The one and only" Videl stated proudly. Even with her mind muddled with current events she still took pride in her achievements.
"Oh wow! Thank you so much for your signature! I told Trunks I would meet a super hero." Goten told her excitedly making Videl blush a bit embarrassed.
"O-oh right Mel did say that her younger brother was a fan of mine." Videl thought as Goten practically had stars in his eyes.
"Well it is good to meet you to Goten." She told him simply getting a large smile in return.
"So, are you ready to train Videl?" Gohan asks as he walks down the stairs now in gi.
"Yea, let's go." Videl told him standing up and walking with him over to the door.
"See ya later squirt thanks for keeping her company." Gohan told his little brother and then brought Videl a bit away from the house into an empty clearing.
"So, what are we going to work on today?" Videl asks trying to refocus her mind.
"Hmm well it seems like you really need something to enjoy right now so how about we finally get you started with learning flying?" Gohan asked making Videl turn to him with wide eyes.
"We are finally going to learn how to fly!? I am ready for it?" Videl asks clearly excited by this news.
"Well you probably were ready for a bit now but I wanted to make sure you had the basics ironed out. Flying can be painful if you make a mistake at the wrong time after all. But ya you should be fine now and worse comes to worse the forest is your friend." Gohan told her waving his hand around. For even if they were in a clearing there were still trees, bushes, and even thick grass all around for her to fall into if she needed to that wouldn't hurt as much…well the trees could arguably hurt more but leaves are softer than gym concrete.
"Ok! So what do we have to do?" Videl asks.
"Well to be honest the idea is simple it is the practicing that is gonna take you a while. All you have to do to fly is push your ki beneath you. Not as much as a ki to create a blast but enough that it will support you." Gohan told her.
"Put my ki beneath me…" Videl muttered and started to try just that.
Few hours later
After a while of trying to figure out 'pushing ki underneath her' Videl did manage to do it and lift herself off the ground. Now what she was struggling with was managing to keep the power at a steady level. Too high and she starts to float up. Too low she just falls. So, Gohan had her practice this while she was still only a few inches above the ground. Though they now saw Chichi and Mel walking over to them.
"Hey how goes the training?" Mel asks Gohan seeing as Videl was still trying to focus.
"She is doing pretty well but just needs to get the practice in to make moving around easier in the future. Overall she is going pretty fast even when you take her previous training into consideration." Gohan told her.
"And it seems like she has cute supervisor as well." Chichi tells him making him blush at first before he followed her eyes and saw Goten doing an almost laughably bad attempt at hiding behind a tree while watching Videl.
"Huh would have figured he would be out playing even if I can't play with him today." Gohan stated getting the two girls to laugh a bit.
"Ahh first love at it's finest." Mel states happy to see that there was more than just food and fighting filling her younger brother's head.
"Indeed. But anyways if she is gonna fly that plane back to Satan city Videl really should be leaving pretty soon." Chichi tells Gohan who quickly looks at the sun to notice the time.
"Gah you are right! Ok Videl let's call it for the day." Gohan calls out disrupting Videl.
"Tsk, and I was just getting the hang of managing the energy needed." Videl grumbles.
"Heh, well we could go a bit longer if you want and I will just fly you back to the gym. I am faster than any plane so we would have plenty more time." Gohan tells her.
"No! I mean I am staying with Erasa for right now." Videl tells them quickly lowering her tone after raising her voice initially.
"Umm is everything ok?" Gohan asked Videl confused.
sigh* "No, I just had a fight with my dad recently and just need some time to figure things out. Erasa has been nice enough to give me their spare room." Videl explains.
"Oh you poor honey. I understand having fights with your parent but it's better if you make peace sooner rather than later. You are just making it more painful for both of you." Chichi tells her.
"Even if he has been lying to everyone for your whole life? And only to fill his own greedy pocket." Videl asks angrily making Chichi surprised and quickly looked over to Gohan.
"You told her?"
shrug* "Well she was well on her way to figuring it out herself. It was only a matter of time even if I didn't explain it more." Gohan explained.
"Well that is different. I can understand you being confused and wanting time to think…just don't push it away forever. You will regret it if you don't make peace with it before you can't anymore." Chichi tells Videl then turns to Gohan. "How about going to get her a capsule house to stay in here? I mean she is your fiancé and making her fly out here all the time to train seems like a huge waste of time."
"You mean it mom?" Gohan asks rather surprised.
"Of course she has proven herself to be a proper young woman with enough backbone to handle you. She might as well get use to living close to you….but even though I want kids I would prefer if you at least wait until you are out of high school to have one ready for me." She tells him making both of them blush red.
"MOM!" Gohan calls out embarrassed.
"What? You better be planning on giving me grandkids." She tells him with a dangerous look.
"A-anyways I am fine with having you stay here if you want Videl. I mean you can ignore the last part of her explanation of course!" Gohan tells her then quickly adds the second part with his blush never leaving his face. "So, do you want to?"
"Hmm, I think that sounds good. I want to get this flying stuff down asap." Videl tells him.
"Great. Mel let her call Erasa and let her know and I will go get the capsule house….wait did you want to start today or wait." Gohan says before realizing he had no idea if Videl was ready to stay or not.
"I might as well stay here today. I mean I have basically all I brought in my bag." Videl stated honestly.
"You poor thing. We will have to make sure you have enough to get yourself comfortable later. For right now go get her the home." Chichi ordered shooing Gohan away.
"Right." Gohan stated then quickly flew away.
"Wait where is he going?" Videl asked confused.
"He has to go get the capsule home from capsule corp." Mel tells her with a shrug.
"What? I thought you guys meant that you just had a capsule in the house!"
"Well when you can fly as fast as we can even going to CC doesn't take all that long." Mel states.
"…I gotta get the hang of this fast." Videl stated excited.
"Yea I get that…but first let's talk a bit." Mel tells her walking them into the house with Chichi following.
=Crane gang; laboratory=
"And with that you are finally done." Dr. Stein says still gowned up for surgery.
"Good I am glad that my brother finally gained enough power for our revenge. Now we just need to get use to the new us and no one will be able to stop us." The crane master states happily then looks to see his brother already waking up. "Ah fast recovery as always brother." He states with a smile.
"Yes and the nano bots I put into him to help recovery had nothing to do with it." Dr. Stein mutters.
"Oh don't worry the world know of your masterpieces soon enough." He tells him with an evil smile.
"Yea yea. Just don't forget my end of the deal." The doctor states.
"Oh don't worry soon enough you will have all the specimens and freedom you ever wished for." The crane master tells him with an evil laugh. He then walks out of the room now that his brother was at least awake enough to guard himself even if only reactive. He then wastes no time walking over the crane gang that were now just lazing about.
"Hey boss when can we get out of this boring place?" one of them asks.
"You guys can start to play soon now that my brother is done. Just don't bring too much attention to yourselves just yet. Our true introduction has to be a grand one." He tells them with another evil laugh echoing through the building.
And that is where I am going to end this chapter. Now I cut this one a lot closer than I would normally like to. But the creative juices just kept coming out for the first time in a while. So, I only hope that the vision is as clear for you readers as I have in my head. For now Ja Ne.
