Wow so the hiatus was crazy but ik back blarg. Lets hop in and such (also happy bhm y'all)
In the dead of night after nearly killing her while family and herself in a lucid dream, becoming the sole bearer of an ancient power so feared it was treated like a curse, and having it all happen on her birthday. If you had asked Yakumo Kurama how she felt that February evening she would've told you she was cursed like no other person in the world. The pain of what almost happened and what she could have done nearly drove her insane. Ido pushing for that insanity didn't help much either.
But that was then. Now the Kurama clan princess was adored by her whole clan. Her once fragile body and mind were now sharpened tools she used as a kunoichi of the Leaf. No longer was she lonely because of the power she wielded, instead she gained two amazing friends who not only shared her position in society but could relate to her struggles as a powerful woman in a world full of powerhumgery men. It was actually that thought that lead her mind to Hinata. To those who weren't truly close to her, Hinata seemed to have an icy composure, if only a little more so than the average Hyuga.
Most people stopped there observation there and chalked it up to her being the Hyuga clan heiress. Yakumo and Rio though? They knew the truth. The Hyuga princess was undoubtedly the least composed or cold person in that entire clan. Of course like all members of their squad Hinata was a powerful ninja in her own right. In her own way, something that Hinata told her teammates wasn't tolerated by her family. Every clan kid knew that strict rukes and emotional control was the norm but in konoha all the same kids could tell you it was different with the Hyuga. But then again maybe Hinata was just different.
Hinata Hyuga was going to kill her little sister in her sleep.
Hinabi had not only gone through her things, no dobt being monitored by her aids; aids who most definitely would report back to her father for anything out of place. And at first, Hinata was calm but then she saw itwas missing. The most sacred and precious thing she owned next to her mothers heirlooms. She was a ninja clan princess so naturally she was able to keep secrets, she had quite a few now and carefully wanted to reveal them as to go about implementing change in the clan. She woukd revel in the elders shock and despair when that day came but RIGHT NOW? Right now she needed to safeguard another secret. Time was running out too. The Finals started today and she was first. It was perfect especially if she was lucky enough to get Neji as her opponent the plan she had could finally start getting of the ground. But before all that she neededto get. it. back.
"Hinata! I'm so glad I found you. I was trying to give this back to you." From outside the room Hinabi stood holding a paper swan. Hearing her voice took most of the anger out of the elder sister.
"thank you imōto. Why exactly do you have this anyway?" Hinata asked in her gentlest voice save only for the younger girl.
Hinabi smauled and said "I was practicing-" she said the next part much more quietly, "in a different way," Hianata wanted to be sad that Hinabi had to sneak her creativity into training but instead she remained neutral and urged her sister to go on. "I wanted to practice me hand speed and accuracy by making paper swans but there's only yours in the house so i used it as a model. I tried to make as many as I can to get a wish like mommy did when she got us! But I'm not sure I did enough." Hinabi said hurriedly ending in a sad tone.
Chuckling Hinata assured her that it was probably enough. "Whatever you wished for it's definitely gonna come true." Now having had her most precious item back she made way for the door.
"Will it come ture even if it's not for myslef?" Hinabi asked unsure. The smile that Hinata had was hopefully as comforting as her mothers she thought.
"Those wishes are are usually the strongest ones. They have more power behind them because its so much harder to truly want things for other people. But I'm proud your making hoices like that to be kind. It reminds me of mother." She said. At that Hinabi lit up for the first time in a while completely unrestrained and deeply happy.
Team Guy made there way way to the arena, early of course, so there'd be time for traing on the way. Tenten was feeling terribly left out and annoyed. After being done up so effortlessly by a rookie and earing the "one trick pony" title she was offended and humiliated. The weird thing is no one was there to comfort her throught it like she expected. Guy was still all for fitness and "the power of youth". Neji was still his brooding self but he would at least acknowledge her before. Then there was the truest shock LEE!! All HE could talk about was that Uzumaki pretty boy, and yes she knew how jealous and crazy she sounded but C'MON REALLY? REALLY? "I need to get things back on track lets start with Neji." She thought. This proved to be as hard as it sounded and she only got him to speak when she brought up him going first in the match and that whoever was going against him was woefully unlucky.
"Well of course. If fate should put a weakling before me, a Hyuga? Naturally they're doomed to fail." He said stoically.
Teneten thought on a response quickly and hoped for the best. "So does that mean a stronger person might stand a chance? Wow when did you mellow out? Finally looking for some competition eh. Everyday you bits get more and more like G-"
"No. there is no competition, fate has made me the superior this day. Nothins will stand" The boy was quickly cut off.
"AND I'm done that's what I get for trying yikes. You're better with your mouth shut." She said dejectedly.
"Today we strike when the possom falls. Be ready."
The crowd in front steeled themselves. Like true warriors they were prepared to give there lives for their nation. "Yes sir!"
The whole arena was filled to the brim with people. Mainly Konoha citizens but a lot of visiting nobility and ambassadors from smaller nations. High up in the stands were the hosting and visiting Kage. They looked on making small talk though since it was really onky two of them and obvious stand in things stayed wrather drab. That is until the first fight was being set up.
Minato looked on with veiled interest as the proctor called for fighters 1 and 2. Since they had been randomly chosen the matches woukd be a surprise to all and how surprising was this match indeed?
"Very Interesting Hokage. Two clansmen at the first match? Lets hooe there's more surprises instore!" The Kazekage murmured excitedly. The standins made no comments but they too looked on with interest.
Down in the Genin lobby both Hyuga were getting hyped up for the fight. They still somehow hadn't realized they'd be fighting eachother yet but that didn't really matter much now. It was time to prove themselves.
"You've got this Hinata, screw it if your while family's in the stands, you just go out there and Kick ass!" Rio said. Yakumo said she'd etter make it so they could have their own match and soon after she was off.
The scene wasn't as warm for Neji he was looking to see who moved while his teammates prattled on about the obvious in his opinion. "I don't need encouragement to win. Today the clan will acknowledge me, they have no choice." He thought bitterly. Just as Rock Lee was about to start into "inspirational excersizes" Nehi niticed his cousin move. It was perfect. Nkw he could actually show the clan he wasn't meant to be the caged bird, that the wayward princess was far more in need of restraint than he. "Yes this will be the day." He thought smirking.
"Thank you Lee but that's perfectly fine Im sure I can win this." He said still smirking. He quickly escaped before Lee could shiut sbout the power of youth and slightly dampened his fiery mood.
The proctor looked at the two clansmen and asked as he'd asked in the preliminaries if they were ready after informing them that death was in fact a way to lose and a very real possibility. They nodded and so began the Chūnin exam finals. "Hajime!" He said quickly getting out of the way. Good thing he did to because the two Hyuga closed the gap near instantly.
"So you think to defeat me with your half baked technique weakling? To think the elders would ever let you continue on as the heiress. You fight without truly displaying the clan might and in such a twisted way. You really are a shame." Nehi said trying to make a debt in his cousin's defense. They'd been trading and deflecting blows for at least three minutes now with no breaks. He was hoping that she would falter but instead her assault grew more furious.
"No Neji the real shame is that you cant see why I do this. Why you don't support it I'll never know. How will you ever get change buy keep things the same big brother." She said effortlessly dodging his atacks and striking seven if his tenketsu.
"Change?! You truly are as cruel as the rest of the main branch. There is no changing whats been done for centuries, not if you're the one to do it princess. Fate will prove that today. Areal Trigrams: accelerated palms!" Bursts of chakra and air pushed Nejis arms faster and faster till they nearly blured out of traking vision. Hinata was shocked to say the least as apart from the Air palm all the areal techniques belonged to the main branch and it was impossible to get into the library if you were branded. She could imagine her fathers shock as well, heck her whole clan would be windering how and when Neji managed to get this far. But she still needed to stat in the moment, she was going up against a prodigy, so what?
"I'll get tired if I keep having to dodge like this. Oh well I planned on revealing more skills today anyway." She thought.
"Areal Trigrams: Full Body Burst!" She shouted and at once chakra leapt out from all of her tenketsu and unlocked what ever had been closed in Nejis assault. The brust luabched Neji away from her guving her time to breathe. The technique wasn't one if her favorites sine it was tricky to learn but it was necessary for her other technique to be mastered. "Areal Trigrams: Pin Needle Bursts!" A more controlled attack than the last that allowed her to shoot bursts of chakra from her tenketsu as projectiles. The best part was that meant she had and near endless supply of projectiles at all times. Thanks to her Byakugan that also meant that she could aim this attacks at people from any direction. Right now she had 32 needles going for Nejis torso only 16 hit and the others were doged. She went for another attack with twice the amount but if cousre it could neve be easy could it?
"Eight Trigrams: Revolving Heaven!" He said and a dome of chakra appeared arounf his spinning form. Deflecting the all the attacks. "You'll have to do better than that cousin!" He shiuted smugly. He could see hus uncles shock from here and reveled in it.
Hinata thiught for a bit on her next action but decided that it would be best to hikd off and try something else. She'd learned a trick or two from her sensei and about manipulating chakra inside of someone else's body and while it was quite genjutsu she was assured her technique was quite painful. Probably because of the lacking finesse she had over the chakra that genjutsu required. She focused on the chakra she could still see left in Neji's system and urged it to spike. The attack did what it needed to do, blocking enough tenketsu to make his rotaion weak. She rushed in and the two engaged in taijutsu once more.
"It seems both of us are more skilled than we appear. Hinata sama." Neji spat. They were locked once again trading blows. Both of them using the accelerated palm justu. Finally Neji seemed to get the upper hand, actually landing blows and pushing the girl back. The last blow had a bit more chakra behind it. The strike sent Hinata back and she was for a moment exposed.
"Fate has declared me the victor today Hinata. For you see fate has given me a power which you do not possess. A power unlimited by the main branch. My Myakudō Byakugan!" In that moment Neji's Byakugan pulsed rapidly and bled red.
The Hyugas went white. The elders nearly died upon seeing the blessed Byakugan change color. The head if the clan in particular blanched to a great degree as he stared at tge boy. "Imposible!" He thought but it was so and tgere was nothing he could do to hide or change it.
"Father what is that? What happened to big brother Neji?" Hinabi asked. Hiashi sighed and looked to his yougest daughter. The secret was out so why not explain. That's exactly what he did too, he explained it as it was explained to him.
"In the days before we came to Konoha our clan amassed wealth and power and knowledge. No knowledge comes without a price hiwever and we paid our price. An ancestor of great charm and strength was assassintaed and lie dead. They say that while her killer wasn't discovered and her family mourned she awoke to seek vengeance. When she used her Byakugan next she was and took out her assassin they say the color wasn't the white it was supposed to be. Of course like all legends this story has many renditions and the color is bever agreed upon. Some time ago, not as long as then, we tried to gain that power ourselves and when we did we found out that there were many colors and abilities."
Hinabi was entranced by the words her father spoke. She was proud of her clan sure but this uktimate and rare power sounded truly amazing. Like any child her age she asked if she could have it. Hiashi went wven stiffer if it was possible and looked at her.
Slowly he said "The reason we abandoned this power was that it was often the birth of terrible people and unfortunately those who would use that power after a Hyuga died." He explained. He'd long since taught her about the clans workings and why the side branch was branded. But this left her with more questions still.
"Why can't we try again and just stoo the bad ones? We can handle it now right? We must be able to Neji's doing it right now!" She said to him. Hia ashi inky shook his head. There would be no end to the questions unless he told her something. He'd been planning to tell her the truth anyway.
"To gain this power a skilled Hyuga, prodigious in their Byakugan use, must die."
Hinata was beyond one emotion at this point and it was beginning to shiw in the twisting of her face. When why how?! Were all thiughts that came to her mind as she retreated. She knew of this power it was one of the things her mother told her before she left her. Myakudō Byakugan allows for you user to shoot a beam of chakra that messes with tenketsu and stops the molding of chakra. It also adds one kilometer to the users range of vision. Must be used in quick bursts to avoid strain on the Hyuga as even more veins around the eye are there damage could lead to hemorrhage in the brain. Appears with the byakugan glowing in various colors.
As the fight went on and she doged more and more beams of chakra the Hyuga princess searched her mind for more information. "Think! You know this, think!" She thought repeatedly. Then after getting too close to a beam that singed some if her jacket she remembered. It was like reading it off the scroll.
These colors provide unique abilities to the user, white allows more continuous beams. Purple acts like a vacuum and drains chakra from the target, every burst. Red allows you to essentially have laser vision via Katon. Green allows you to apply a piercing affect via Fūton. Grey sends a shock via Raiton and Yellow makes sends a heavy blow that weakens the further it goes via Dōton. Blue allows the user to change the chakra in a technique they can see like tearing it apart from the inside via Suiton(hardest to do on Dōton harder to practice on Raiton). This is the only one that doesn't work in burst but rather a time limit that drains the water from the Hyuga down body along with a severe chakra strain, rare amongst Hyuga. The elemental colors are the most common white and purple being the rarity.
Obviously Neji had the red one. Fitting since he bitter rage might nit have been properly represented by the others. But then she reminded herself hiw this power had to be obtained. The technique is unlocked when a Hyuga dies and comes back to life usually needs head trauma to be apart of the death. She would know first hand after all it was like Neji said. They'd both been holding out.
"I wish fate hadn't lead you down this path bug brother. But it's ok! I'll show you, I can change everything!" Her held dropped and when she raised them again the were a deep purple.
"Today will be the day Neji, just not yours." She said calmly. He raged audibly nothing was fair that fate should out them together with these powers. To think he'd hoped, no truly convinced himself, he could be free. He fired of as many blast as he could raw and burning. His head felt like it would explode. All the while he saw his coisin walk uo to him unharmed. Absorbing the chakra and pulling it into herslef which fueled her to attack twice as fast as him. He coukd hardly stand let alone keep uo his base Byakugan by the time she got to him. "I want you ti know that you did me a great service today big brother. Things will be different I promise. Just hold on!" She pulled back a proper fist and knocked Neji the fuck out.
The whole arena jumoed up in applause and cheers. At somepoint a few voices louder than the rest started a chant and before Hinata could even be called the victor nearly every one was calling her the kickass kunoichi.
"Winner Hinata Hyuga!"
