Chapter 3 Home
Raven kept looking at the strange beast as it moved around the grass, it's huge mouth, lips and tongue easily picking up the large tufts, down it's huge frame of black and white fur was something that puzzled her, she knew it was a nipple but this beast seemed to have four of them that seemed to move everytime the beast did, like they were pulsing. Not wanting to scare the beast she moved slowly over the wooden posts meant to keep the beast inside.
When she reached it, making sure to keep her bare-feet out of the black muck that seemed to come out of it's backside. Not that the beast seemed to care, it just plodded on. Gently she laid a hand on it's body, the hair softer than she first thought. It glared at her, giving a strange sound before turning it's head, like it was saying 'really? I'm in the middle of doing stuff'
"Wow! You are so soft! I really like your tail" Raven said gently patting the beast, hoping that it didn't attack, she really didn't wanna kill it but sometimes there was no choice.
"I used to have a tail, but the Great Collapse left me living without one, if you can call that living" Raven kept stroking the beast, now it didn't seem to mind, the hand wasn't stopping the eating process so it just waited for Raven to stop.
"May I ride you?" Raven asked softly before not giving the beast a chance, she just climbed up and sat on it's wide back, when the beast started making noises Raven figured it was because this beast wasn't used to having a Hunter on it's back. Again it lost interest in her and just went back to eating, Raven however thought it was the best ride ever and she was hoping that the two Hu-mans known as her great-grandparents would let her take it home with her.
Jesse and Robin were chosen long ago, just as Bret Hart was chosen, once the elderly couple realised that she wasn't going to cause them harm, they seemed to embrace Raven as their 'Hu-man' great grandchild, Robin loved being a grandmother, she tried to teach Raven all about being a Hu-man and to her surprise Raven listened and took her advice, the young girl realised that this wasn't her planet, and Robin would know more about Earth than she did.
Banging of the screen door bought Robin back to her new reality, she liked her life but she never thought she would be a farmer. Her husband of many enjoyable years, Jesse, put some brown packages on the bench, he noticed that Robin seemed to have more energy when Raven was visiting, he liked seeing her happy, still guilty that he couldn't give her grandies the old fashioned way, and he would admit that he liked having Raven around.
"Where's Raven?" Jesse asked kissing his wife on the cheek, after all this time he never loved anyone the way he loved Robin.
"She's riding a cow"
Jesse looked out the window trying not to laugh as the Hunter joyfully went round the dirty grass, like it was the greatest thing in the world. He was about to tap on the window to get her attention when another knocking came at the door, Jesse left Robin to laugh at Raven who was now standing on the cow as it walked around, like she was trying to keep her balance. He knew who it would be and he could only hope that Bret listened to the Hunter.
Jesse wasn't exactly a friend but he did work in the same industry as him at one point so he knew exactly what Bret was giving up, he put out his hand, smiling comfortly,
"Bret! It's good to see you! I'll get Raven" Jesse ushered him in before he could change his mind, Jesse talking a mile a minute about Raven and how he was chosen just like Jesse was chosen all those years ago.
Bret took a seat at the kitchen table, un-easy nerves splintering his broken body. He still wasn't sure why he was even here, but he had all ready come this far so why not go further?
Raven came in still asking if she could take the home back to Dezolis with her, Jesse said no but could happily take some milk home for her. She had no clue what that was, but the white liquid that came out of the plastic bottle was nice, apparently the cow had made it and was quite happy to share. When she saw Bret she let out a relieved sigh,
"Thank you for trusting me a bit further Bret, so are you ready?"
"Ready for what exactly?" Bret refused to move until she explained at least a little of what was going on he wasn't content on following her anywhere.
"You will come to Dezolis with me and fulfil your destiny, after a month you may return to Earth to do as you please"
"A month!"
Raven's face twitched, trying not to just ram her arm through his face and find a new saviour, but she knew that wasn't possible so she calmed down, about three percent.
"That's Dezolis time, on Earth you'll only be gone a week" Raven explained hoping that would make it better. It didn't.
Bret had heard enough, he was done listening to an obvious crazy person.
"Find yourself someone else to con, I'm done" Bret grabbed his bag and started back out the door, maybe if he was able to talk to McMahon he could get his job back. Raven caught up to him easily, her tiny hand pulling his arm around so he could see the truth in her silver eyes.
"Bret I don't know what a con is, but I can assure you the words I speak are the truth, please we need to get moving"
He said nothing, still trying to decide what to do about her and this whole weird situation. Time slowed down as the pain travelled up his large frame, he thought for a moment Raven had done something to him, he didn't want to look but his eyes disagreed, they needed to see. Right where his six-pack was meant to be was now adorned with a bloody sharp spear, he just looked at it, not knowing what else to do, he had the pain but other than free-flowing blood everything else seemed to stay working.
Raven let out an annoyed growl, the owner of the spear was all ready dead so all she had to do was keep Bret alive long enough to get him to Dezolis. Even she was surprised that he was still awake and alert. So before he could sink into the black abyss, he saw the true power she held in her destructive hands, she ripped the spear out and Bret watched in awe as the hole slowly healed up. He still needed to get to Dezolis but for now he was ok.
"Now do you believe me?" Raven asked hoping that the answer was yes. Thankfully for her, Bret did believe and was more than ready to leave. He couldn't help it, he was getting excited.
Raven waited to say to good-bye to Robin and Jesse, the two Hu-mans did more for her world than they could ever know.
"Raven! Move your ass!" Bret was starting to get tetchy, he just wanted this adventure to start.
Raven rolled her eyes as Jesse walked her out the door to where Bret was waiting inpatiently, tapping his foot and glaring at her. She took in the scene of the farm so she could tell her people all about it.
"This is why I hate Hu-mans at times, look at them over there with their pointy hats and fur jackets"
Jesse followed her gaze, a little confused when he found that she was talking about a couple more of his 'beastys'
"Raven those are elk"
"I don't care, I still hate them"
