Hey there, years ago I saw an idea on AO3 that was never done. It was the Chimera Ant Arc revamp, in which we would take arguably the best Hunter x Hunter arc and we would put some different takes and see how it would go. This one has this.

What if Gon and Killua stood with Kite for a little longer before the ant invasion? What if there was 4 Royal Guards? What if Hisoka, Kurapika, Leorio and Illumi all decided to help out in the palace invasion? What if Mereum started to care for others a little bit earlier? These are the ideas that I will put while making this story.

I would say Gon and Killua would stay with Kite for a few months, like 2 or 3. The time sheet on hunter x hunter is very confuse. I mean by Greed Island a year has passed since the Hunter Exame happened, I would say in canon Gon and Killua were with Kite for like a week at minimum before the whole Chimera Ant deal.

Ok here we go.

At Greed Island.

Gon, Killua and Biscuit were all full of energy and excitement, something they should have. They finished Greed Island the most difficult game in the world, after a hard time getting all those cards and defeating Genthru they finally have the next clue to find Ging.

''I cant believe we are going to do it.'' Said Gon.

''Yes, it took longer than I expected but we did it.'' Said Killua.

''We all got what we wanted, not only that you both got really strong since getting here.'' Said Bisky.

''OS!'' Said the two.

Before they could continue Bisky had one more question for Gon that involved Ging.

''Hey Gon, I wanted to know something. You felt a connection to Ging even though he wasn't in the game at all. Why was that?' Asked Bisky.

''Well at first I didn't know. However after beating the game, it was very clear to me. At the time I was the first to enter the game. When I stood at the entrance, looking around in wonder, I was sure that there was no one around me. In other words, my first encounter must´ve been Golimu who was the second person to the enter the game. I discover that I had encountered someone before him. Gin name can be spelled Ging, the name NIGG is probably just him moving the first letter of his name to the end. So I guess, when I was still just a baby I had already been in Greed Island with him.'' Said Gon explaining everything.

''What an amazing attachment. To sell all the other valuable cards in front of you and not be tempted. Maybe this was Gin´s message to you? If you want to see me, no matter what, then become Strong! Strong enough to complete my game.'' Said Bisky with a smile.

Gon and Killua just smile at that, thanks to her they achieved so much and were able to defeat a nen expert like Gentrhurh.

''After'ter seeing Gin whats the first thing you want to do?" Asked Bisky.

''The first thing is introduce Killua to him! And say ´´This is my Best friend!´´'' Said Gon all excited and full of energy.

Killua just blush at this, honestly why does Gon need to act like that?

'Don't! How embarking!'' Said Killua pissed.

Bisky however was starting to cry.

''that s really beautiful! I am going to miss you two brats!'' Said Bisky crying.

The two saw their master crying, which was a bit weird at first.

''Geez! Sorry boys! The older I get, the softer I become. To be honest, my original goal in approaching you two was to break off your friendship.'' Said her.

''You failed miserably at that.'' Said Killua with a sweat drop.

''Do you want to go with us Bisky?" Asked Gon.

''No, I am not into man with kids.'' Said Bisky.

''Really!'' Said Killua annoyed, Bisky sometimes was too much.

''Yeah, but I wish you all the best!'' Said her.

''Thanks!'' Said the two.

Then Gon took off his card and put in the air, acting.

''Use accompany!" Scream Gon as both him and Killua were teleported.

Boom

Bisky saw the two blasting off to who knows where, she just hopes they were ok.

''Goodbye kids.'' Said her.

The Two Star Hunter decided to take a little vacation, she did all this hard work and now she wanted to enjoy it.

At a long region.

Gon and Killua arrived at what appeared to be forest. They didn't know what was going on but they soon look around.

''Uh I guess this must be it.'' Said Gon.

''Look!'' Said Killua pointing at something.

There was someone fishing nearby, he was using a trench coat and a big hat so Gon thought that must be his father.

''Ging?!'' Asked Gon.

Once Gon voice was heard the person turned around and took off his coat…it wasn't Ging.

''Is that you Gon-kun? You´ve grown.'' Said the person who was tall and had white hair.

Gon was in shock to see that person again, Killua however was confused.

''Kite!'' Scream Gon.

''Kite?! Who is that?" Asked Killua.

''Oh, I never told you about Kite Killua?" Asked Gon.

''No, all I heard was about Ging. Who´s this guy?" Asked Killua.

''Killua this is Kite, he is the one who told me that Ging was alive, and he is a hunter. In some sense he is the one who sparked my interest in being a hunter.'' Said Gon.

''Wow Gon, never imagined seeing you again so soon.'' Said Kite with a smile.

''Yes, I´ve became a hunter in my first year trying.'' Said Gon with a smile.

''Impressive, you´re really are going far in the future.'' Said Kite.

''Yes, I hope to be as strong as you some day.'' Said Gon.

Killua then clear his throat, trying not to make a scene but Gon wasn't helping.

''Aren't you going to introduce us?" Asked Kite.

''Oh sorry Kite, this is Killau Zoldyck my best friend.'' Said Gon.

''The family of assassin! You´re friends with Gon!'' Said Kite in shock.

''don't worry, I am not affiliated with them. I ran off and I am on my own.'' Said Killua.

'''Ok, you´ve a unique friend in there Gon.'' Said Kite.

''I know.'' Said Gon.

The two soon share a laugh and then Gon and Killua stomach started to rumble.

''Do you two want something to eat?' Asked Kite.

''Sure!'' Said the two.

Later

Kite catches up some fishes and was roasting them on a fire, while that was cooking Gon and Killua told him about Greed Island and Ging ´´Message´´.

''Ah, now I remembered, Ging was using a fake name when I saw him in the game. I forgot what he called himself. He told me also to use a fake name.'' Said Kite.

''He tricked me again!'' Said Gon irritated.

''And we thought we would definitely see him this time.'' Said Killua.

''Tell me more about your adventures. Do you have time?" Asked Kite

''Of course.'' Said Gon.

Then Gon started to tell Kite about all the adventures that he had before Greed Island, things like the Hunter Exam.

''And then Leorio started to run so fast. Even Kurapika cheer him up so he could go.'' Said Gon.

''They sound really fun.'' Said Kite.

Then they told him about Heave Arena.

''You kids learned Nen there?" Asked Kite.

''Yes, we had a good teacher.'' Said Killua remembering Wing.

After that it was YorkNew and dealing with the Phantom Troupe.

''I can't believe you´re two dealt with the Phantom Troupe.'' Said Kite.

''Did Ging ever dealt with them?" Asked Gon.

''He never told me that, but even he knew it would be stupid to take down the spiders.' Said Kite.

''Why?" Asked Gon.

''He knows even if all of them are taken out, new will appear.'' Said Kite.

''Yes, that appears to be their philosophy.'' Said Killua.

Kite then decided to ask Gon what was next.

''So Gon, what is your next move?'' Asked him.

''I don't know, I was truly planning to see Ging now.'' Said him

The long-haired Hunter just smile at that and had an idea.

''What if you two stayed with me for a while?' Asked him.

''Uh?" Asked Gon and Killua.

''I am on a little mission in this country and more people would be welcome.'' Said Kite.

''Oh really!'' Said Gon excited.

''Yes, you two can learn from me.'' Said Kite.

''Great! We can learn from someone who knows a lot about nen, I guess we hit the jackpot here.'' Said Killua.

''What are you doing here Kite?" Asked Gon.

''I will tell you kids in the morning, but dodnt worry so far is nothing serious.'' Said Kite.

''Ok.'' Said Killua.

''Great! I can't wait to start leaning from you Kite.'' Said Gon.

The long-haired man just smile at that, he forgot how kind this kid was when he meet in Greed Island.

''Tomorrow we will meet the group and we will go into more detail, until now go to sleep. Tomorrow we will start working.'' Said Kite.

''Right!'' Said the two.

The trio of hunters slept in the woods, having no problems with the wildlife present.

''Good night Kite!'' Said Gon.

'Night kid.'' Said Kite.

The trio slept in peace, not knowing that in the future a great evil would arrive.

At the Dark Continent

A creature knows as a ´´Chimera Ant Queen´´ was trying to survive, in this continent if you can live one day is a miracle. Even the animals don't stand a chance in there.

''Urgh!' Scream her in pain, she was missing a few legs and her body was almost destroyed.

She wanted to lay eggs, make her soldiers and then create the Chimera Ant King, the creature that would be on top of the food chain. However, in this nightmare land she couldn't have time to create the royal guards.

''I need to get out of here!'' Scream her going to the ocean.

The creature decided to swim, even though it was over 10000 miles until safe land she had no other choice, the creatures from the Dark Continent could crush her like a cockroach with no problem.

''For the king! I need to escape!'' Scream her starting to swim.

So yes, we are starting this with a little bit of advance. It will take a while for the ants to arrive. The first chapters will be mostly Gon and Killua bonding with Kite, we will even have some fun moments. How will the others go into the mix, well they will appear during the bonding times. Leorio I have a plan, Kurapika also, Hisoka an Illumi will appear later. However, this will be the Chimera Ant Arc that I wanted to see, if you have ideas throw then to me.
