Dark Side of the Moon

Chapter 7

Kat stirs awake and groans from the pain in her ribs. She looks at Paul, who looks at her worriedly.

Kat tries to give him a reassuring smile but fails miserably. She then tries to sit up but realizes that she is in too much pain to do so.

Because for Kat, it hurts to breathe, move, or do anything. She hates feeling useless and wants to cry her eyes out.

"Kat, what are you trying to do?" Paul asks concerned.

"I was going to sit up and survey the damage to my body."

"Kat, you can do that you might end up hurting yourself even more. Why don't you let me help you? I bet you must go to the bathroom, don't you?"

Kat nods, and Paul gets up and comes around the bed.

"This may hurt, and I am sorry in advance." Paul slowly picks Kat up from the bed and carries her to the bathroom.

Once in the bathroom, Paul places Kat on the toilet. Paul slowly backs out of the bathroom, closing the door just as he hears grunting and groaning from behind the door. He was worried that she would hurt herself even more than she already was using the bathroom. More grunting and groaning came from the bathroom, followed by the flushing toilet.

"Paul." He hears Kat say from the bathroom. Paul goes into the bathroom and finds Kat standing next to the toilet.

"I couldn't sit back down," Kat tells Paul as a tear runs down her cheek. Paul wipes the tear away and kisses where it once was.

"No need to cry. I will call Doctor Greentree to see if he can give you some pain pills. Now do you want to walk or be carried?"

"I think I will walk, but where am I walking to?"

"You will relax on the couch in the living room." Kat nods her head. She starts to walk to the living room, with Paul following her. Once in the living room, Paul has Kat stand by the couch, run to the bedroom, and grab the pillows off the bed. Then he goes back to the living room. He helps lower her onto the pillows.

'It's going to take a while for her to heal.' Paul thinks to himself.

Paul sits down carefully so as not to jolt Kat too much.

"So, are you hungry or want to watch TV?"

"I am kind of hungry," Kat tells Paul.

Paul gets up and goes to the bedroom to grab his phone to call Sam and Doctor Greentree.

"Hello." Sam answers.

"Hey Sam, is there some way that Emily could bring some food to Kat? I would cook but we don't need to add food poisoning to the list of ailments that is wrong with her."

"Yeah, I'm sure she can do that. I think she is making easy meals to heat up until Kat is well again," Sam tells Paul.

"Alright Sam, see you in a little bit. I need to call Doctor Greentree to see about some pain pills for Kat."

"See you later Paul," Sam says before hanging up the phone.

Paul dials Doctor Greentree's number at the clinic on the reservation.

"Doctor Greentree speaking, how can I help you?" He answered the phone on the second ring.

"Doctor Greentree, it's Paul. I hate to do this to you, but Kat is in so much pain. Is there any way you could give her some pain pills?"

"Hello to you too Paul, yes, I can get Kat some pain pills, I thought it might come up with how bad her pain was last night."

"Thank you, Doctor Greentree that means the world to me and her," Paul says to Doctor Greentree.

"I will send them over with Sue, she is about to leave here."

"Okay, thank you again Doctor Greentree," Paul says as he hangs up the phone.

Paul returns to the living room to sit down when he hears a knock on the door.

"Come in," Paul yells at the door. In walks Jake and Bella.

" How are you feeling Kat?" Bella asks her.

"I am in a lot of pain," Kat tells Bella.

"I hope you are getting some pain pills." Bella comments.

"I called Doctor Greentree, and he is sending some over with Sue," Paul explains to them.

"That is good," Bella replies.

They sat around watching TV and waiting for Emily, Sam, Sue, and possibly the rest of the pack. After about ten minutes, Sue showed up with the pain pills for Kat. Sue handed the pills to Paul.

"One pill every six hours as needed for pain," Sue tells Paul. Paul nods.

After about forty minutes later the rest of the pack arrived at Paul's house. Kat was asleep. There is a groan from the couch and Paul looks over and Kat is trying to sit up again. Paul rushes over to her and helps her sit up.

"Do you want to eat something?" Paul asks Kat.

"Yeah, I also need to use the bathroom," Kat tells Paul.

Bella and Sue helped Kat to the bathroom and back to the living room. After she was sitting back on the couch, Emily brought her some food. Paul took the plate from Emily and started helping her eat so, she could take a pain pill. After she was done eating Jake brought a fresh glass of water so she could take her pill. After she took her pill, she started to doze off. Paul carries her into the bedroom.

"Where is she?! You promised to have her here!" Victoria hisses at him.

"I know, I did, but those wolves stopped me; I was about to lose my life to those stupid wolves again," Riley argues back at her.
