"What am I?"
I whisper looking at the man who shrieks. He drops the glass and it makes a loud shattering sound. His figure trembles and he opens his mouth, but closes it again. He looks terrified. He should be. I close in on him and he touches the glass surface of the wall.
"You usually talk a lot when I'm behind the tube, now that they've let me out, you can't seem to say a word" I mutter as my eyebrows trail across him. They were always going to let me out and they were always going to kill him. I told him. He didn't believe me. He should have. I step closer to him and my eyes hold the syringe that he's used to inflict me with all his creations.
"Thomas, you're a loose end and you've far exceeded your usefulness" I state and I stab him with the pen on his eye. He screams loudly whilst he goes for the run. I wonder, why won't he listen to me? Is he really that muddle headed? He's tinkered me to be the most perfect killing machine and yet he thinks he can escape.
Is it hope? I've already told him I've been sent by the same organization he works for. So what could he possibly have hope on that he'll be fine.
I stalk towards him as he runs and I smile. I run to him and I stab him with the pen on his other eye. He screams sorrowfully and my lips thin as he begs me. "Please spare me Rose" he pleads and I frown. I abhor that name. I stab him again and he howls in pain. The blood cascades down his face and I can hear his breath shorten.
He's going to die soon.
That's disappointing. I haven't returned his hospitality for keeping me secured in the tube. For making me his favourite experiment. I sit down and he tenses. He knows his going to die. I wave the pen around his face and I don't move. I look at the room and I look at my tube, then I look at my engineer. I'm not an android nor a robot. I am a biological human, who's body was experimented on with the use of poisons and chemicals. Simply put. I am an enhanced human being and I have been stuck in this tube for some time.
They've let me out now since they need me. However, I still need to tie loose ends. I look at Thomas, he's almost there. I'm going to let him bleed to death. He gasps and I watch patiently as he struggles to let his words out of his mouth. I wonder what he has to say, they say death brings everyone's true self to life. I'm not certain about that but I am curious what would someone like Thomas want to say. He has no family. No friends. The only thing he had was his job as a scientist for the government and now that they don't need him, he has no one.
"Briar.."
I blink, that is my name. That belongs to me and that is the last shell I have left from who I truly was before they took me. It is the only thing that is real and that matters to me.
Thomas knows this, does he know something? He coughs, I feel no sympathy nor do I gouge, I let him speak on his own accord because I know he will. "Yuri..Briar" and Thomas stops breathing. My mind reflects, runs through the number of possible employees that the Ostania's government has but I find nothing. There is no Yuri Briar in my photographic memory and since Thomas has only interacted with government agents, spies, and all. It's either one, this is a hoax or two, the government is intentionally hiding Yuri.
I lean towards the latter because even though I am a secret weapon of war to the government, I am also exactly like Thomas, a liability and a loose end.
